When planning our trip to Fort Bragg and the Mendocino coast, we looked everywhere for a place to stay, a quiet, lovely place that would work well for us and for our livestock guardian dog (LGD). LGDs are born to bark, to raise the alarm at the sound of anything unusual in the immediate area, which makes staying in even pet-friendly hotels problematic. The least bit of noise created by early-risers anxious to get on the road at oh-dark-thirty has our LGD sounding the alarm and the two of us leaping out of bed to quiet her down. Well, at the Meadow Redwoods, a wooded five-acre property, our LGD's inherent need to bark was never a problem. The loft's location at a distance from the owner's house and from any neighboring houses ensured that there was nothing to set her off. And the large meadow and surrounding trees gave her a wonderful place to run and explore off-leash (under constant supervision, of course). While she was initially intimidated by the spiral stairs, with encouragement, she quickly overcame her fear and was climbing the stairs with gusto. So, the Meadow Redwoods was more than just "pet-friendly," it was nearly "dog heaven." The loft itself is quite spacious. The high ceiling and the windows that run the length of the wall above the long kitchen countertop make the place light and airy. And the view from those windows, out across the meadow, is beautiful. The wall across from those windows angles down from the ridgetop, and one needs to watch one's head on one side of the bed and on one side of the bathroom; however, all it takes is a minor "bonk" or two for one to adjust to that peculiarity of the room. As for its location, the property is a short, easy drive from Highway 1, so getting to either Fort Bragg or Mendocino doesn't take much time at all. And that part of the drive, which passes through a redwood forest, is very pleasant. Last, but certainly not least, Susan, our host, was very kind. When we had a problem with our car and asked for her assistance in relaying information (we only had one cell phone between, and one of us needed to stay with the dog while the other went to see a mechanic), Susan was very helpful. So, would we stay at the Meadow Redwoods again? Definitely! Would we recommend the Meadow Redwoods to friends who have a dog or who just want a beautiful, quiet place to stay? Most definitely!

Fantastic peaceful location, poorly laid out kitchen with no jug, cleanliness was lacking , warm atmosphere.

The property is centrally and conveniently located, we walked to many restaurants, brew pubs shopping etc. Make sure to walk or drive to Serra Cross park practically across the street.

Known worldwide for its vignettes of palm trees, Hollywood glamor, and soft sunsets, Southern California perpetually draws visitors in search of West Coast bliss. There are too many iconic sights to name in golden Los Angeles, but many travelers opt to spend their vacation in sunny San Diego---it's all a matter of preference. SoCal is also home to a few of the state's best mountain getaways, including Big Bear (where you'll find both ski runs and lake fun) and Idyllwild, known for forest serenity. If you're aiming for more of a desert vibe, we offer gorgeous Southwest rentals throughout the Coachella Valley, from Palm Springs to La Quinta and everything in between.
