Nice rustic settings in Sonoma! Close to so much! Nice and quiet.
It was like having your own house. Very quiet, reclusive, and private, except Hiway 12 is 20 ft from the door. It truly was peaceful except for the road noise. I would stay there again.
This location really can't be beat for a romantic, relaxing stay.
Really pretty garden. Cozy house
This property suited us perfectly for our visit to the Sonoma wine country. It was within a short drive of restaurants and the tasting rooms we wanted to visit.
I loved the garden but the property is on a busy, noisy street & the fees attached to my stay were ridiculously high. The rental is part of another house. The "kitchen" was behind sliding panel doors in a former closet. Inconvenient!
We are sorry to see our guest missed some critical information we provided them about their rental, including the location and nature of the rental. Hopefully this stay was enjoyable. Thank you!
House is very clean, well stocked with all needed amenities.
Traffic noise kept me awake, cars speed on Montgomery Road at all hours of the night. Quaint little cottage but no wine opener, dishwasher or washing machine were supplied as per itinerary. Bed needs upgrading. Pleasant surroundings and more roomy than a hotel room. The apple tree out front and gardens were a nice feature.
We apologize for any inconvenience. The wine opener has been replaced, and the home does not list a washer/dryer or dishwasher on-site. Thank you!
Very clean location with great amenities in the property! Would definitely stay there again!
My stay was peaceful and everything was exactly as described, no surprises but plenty of wonderful amenities and solitude.
Loved my stay at the Hummingbird Garden retreat. Close proximity to Nature, food and entertainment make for the perfect relaxing getaway.
Great place to stay I definitely will stay there again
We truly enjoyed our stay...
Everything you need is provided. Clean and comfy.
Great quiet little get away. Good amenities. So happy I stumbled upon it.
The place was surprisingly nice. Very comfortable, well maintained, with a beautiful garden. Extra nice sauna and Jacuzzi.
This place was advertised on booking.com as quiet, peaceful but was on a busy road and was charged double the price advertised online, fraudulent advertising and had not been cleaned properly, nor were there stove top cooking facilities nor a kettle to boil water.
We are sorry to see this guest was disappointed and wish they had reached out during their visit. The home is not located on a busy road, but there is a road nearby that will sometimes provide a hum of traffic. We do charge some fees in addition to the nightly rate; all total costs are visible before booking. The kitchenette in this unit consists of a microwave and mini-fridge as pictured and described. We apologize if this came as a surprise. We will follow-up with housekeeping regarding the cleanliness complaint in this review. Thank you!
Hummingbird Retreat was wonderful. The property was beautifully kept, inside and out.
Amenities in the room were great, lots of TV choices, cute kitchen, and the decor fitting for the space and location. I would recommend to anyone traveling to Santa Rosa.
Very comfortable place to rest when we are in Santa Rosa. We only need lodging, so this is perfect. Driveway is tricky as you need to back out onto a busy road, but we’ve stayed twice now and have figured out how to get onto the road safely.
The house is close to restaurants and shopping. It felt very private outside in the Jacuzzi. That was lovely.
The price you see is not the price you pay. We paid more in fees than one entire day stay - and we only could stay two days. The property is very nice and well taken care of - just would have liked to know, going in, what we were being charged for!
This is more like a hotel room than a home. "Kitchen" is a converted closet. No freezer space in the mini fridge (which means no ice or place to store purchased ice). No TV in living space. Bedroom is large. Traffic noise is very high - it is right along a busy road. Parking is very difficult as it is a tight space, and there is no real way to back out into the heavy traffic. Bathroom is very dated, and the mildew in the shower needs to be addressed.
We are sorry to see this guest was disappointed. The photographs and description very accurately describe this home. The owner has replaced the refrigerator with a refrigerator/freezer combo. The home has a double-wide driveway. Two cars can fit into the guest side of the driveway in tandem. The owner uses other side but parks in the garage. If guests back into the driveway they can more safely exit if backing out into traffic is a concern. The owner has removed the mildew and recaulked the tub. Thank you!
If you are looking for something a lot better than a hotel room that gives you some real space to relax - this place was it.
Nice enough place. Easy enough to find and in a good area. Definitely adequate for only 2 people.
Friendly, comfortable, and relaxing. Nice time.
A very busy street so difficult to get in/out. Always suggest to back in. Think if we had 2 cars, this was be extremely difficult. No freezer onsite as well so no ice for drinks, something I usually like.
Quite noisy. House construction next door.
Road is quite noisy starting early in the morning and sometimes at night.
The love seat pull-out is too small to be considered a 2nd bed; our friend is 5'4" and she had trouble sleeping comfortably on it. Please do not advertise it as a 3-person property. Luckily we had read other reviews ahead of time and brought a blow-up mattress that she used the 2nd night.
The hot tub and sauna were great!
We are sorry to see this guest was unable to get the love seat to work for them; we would have been happy to assist had they called. The property manager will provide a photo with step-by-step instructions so guests can pull the sofa bed out to create a full-sized double bed. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It's fairly small, but very clean and comfortable and has everything you need, especially if you're planning on doing more exploring than lounging around (it's only a few minutes to downtown Santa Rosa). I really enjoyed special touches like the pile of fluffy blankets to use, cute dishes in the kitchenette, and neat artwork on the walls. I would not recommend cooking anything other than a light meal in the 'kitchenette' as there is only a coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave and a tiny sink (no dishwasher). This did not bother us as we ate out for most of our meals. Also, it takes quite a while for the hot water to come on (approx. 3-5 minute wait each morning) but once it does it stays hot and there's plenty of it. Overall would recommend this place for 2 adults, and maybe 2 kids on the pull-out couch. I think 4 adults might find it difficult sharing the small space.
The flower gardens are beautiful, so lovely. The place is furnished beautifully with lovely decor and pictures. Great kitchenware. Yet it would have been so helpful to know more information than from the listing and reviews:
1. Listed as accomodating 4 people, but really only accomodates 2 adults and 2 children or adults under 5'. The sofa bed can only fit someone around 5' or so. I'm 5'5" and had to sleep diagonally to fit, and there was no way another person could sleep there with me.
2. The kitchen "closet" has sliding doors, so you can either use the sink or use the toaster oven/fridge. Very annoying to slide for eithe side. It would be much better to have a curtain you could attach to one side, so you could use the whole thing at the same time.
3. There is a coffee pot, but no coffee....lots of tea! So although many amenities are provided: tea, paper towels, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. no coffee. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time, I could easily have brought some from home.
4. Listed as able to use private hot tub and sauna which are beautiful and very clean, but they would not heat up for us! COLD! We followed the instructions as given in the notebook, waited an hour to heat up, but the hot tub never got above 85 degrees (tho we set it at 100 as instructed) and the sauna never above 73 degrees tho we set it at 125 degrees as instructed! We waited even another hour and it never moved upward to warm/hot.
The listing for the home will be changed to give more information regarding the sofa bed. Vacasa does not supply tea or coffee; the tea was left by a previous guest. We will provide more explicit instructions for the hot tub and sauna so guests can enjoy them during their visits. Thank you!
Came to Santa Rosa on a business trip and stayed in this unit for a week. It was clean and welcoming. The unit is connected to the main house, so if you're looking for something a little more private you may want to look elsewhere. Also, this is on a very busy street, so it noise is an issue for you, you may want to pass on this property. Cars are constantly driving by and the speed limit is 45 so it can be very loud. Other than that it is a great property.
Nice location. Everything was fine, except for bad smell in the place.
Housekeeping will look into any odd odors present in the home.
This was a darling cottage and provided a bit of home while we were away from home.
Stayed here for two nights-we booked late on holiday weekend but it was only a 25min drive to Sonoma square and surrounded by vineyards and hikes in short driving distances.
The place was easy access to everything yet calm and quiet. Close to spring Lake for hikes and swimming for kids. The accommodations were clean and of good quality. I look forward to coming back!
Overall, the cottage is charming and nicely decorated. People are friendly and helpful.
Nice experience at the house. The owner was nice and the manager was very helpful. I would like a tv in the living room but we made due using the one in the bedroom but it would be nice. The house was very clean but did have a musty odor. It wasn't too bad and went away after the fan was on or we opened up the house. Overall a good experience.
the place was cute and a great location. agree with other reviewers on the busy road. The traffic noise was intense, even at night and with the windows closed. there plenty of nice amenities, shampoo, soap, extra blankets, games, etc. the only reason I wouldn't use this place again was the shower. the vacillation from scalding to freezing every few minutes made showering really annoying.
We apologize that the shower temperature was so unreliable; upon inspection it was discovered that there was a plumbing issue causing the radical temperature changes. A plumber has been to the home and resolved the problem so it should no longer be an issue for our guests.
This was a comfortable spot for 3 of us to stay. It was clean and reasonably well-furnished, although the love seat that folds out cannot accommodate 2 people. It should be noted that the kitchenette is inside a closet in the living room. The garden was pretty but sadly, the hot tub was cold and we could not use it...
We enjoyed our stay in the Hummingbird House. The place is clean, well maintained, and nicely decorated with antique furniture. It is very close to all the interesting places to visit in Santa Rosa. Great location.
I do agree with previous reviews stating that getting out of the driveway is a challenge. You have to back out into a busy road and it is hard to check for the upcoming traffic.
The bedroom is spacious and cozy, however, being that the house is close to a busy road, you do hear the cars passing by, even late at night. It didn't bother me that much, but if you are a light sleeper, this could be an issue. The tiny kitchen was not great, but we managed.
The only reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is the internet. It barely works. It was very frustrating trying to use our electronic devices with such poor connection. I hope this get fixed. If it does, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you for sharing your review and giving us some great feedback. We have placed a white noise machine in the home to eliminate the road noise and so far it is working wonderfully. We have also purchased and installed a wifi booster to fix the weak internet. The home has excellent internet speed now! We hope to see you back soon and want to thank you again for staying with Vacasa.
Very pretty property! If a light sleeper, recommend ear plugs to block out the street noise. Short driveway can be dangerous to back in & out -helpful to use a "spotter" if you're a couple
Thank you for letting us know about the road noise being a concern. A white noise machine has been placed in the house to help our guests find their way to a restful night's slumber! We are always looking for ways to make sure our guests have the best experience possible and appreciate you helping us with that.
We stayed here with our two small kids while visiting friends in Santa Rosa.
Overall we were very pleased with the property and had a comfortable 3 night stay. The garden is lovely, the kitchenette well equipped, and the AC saved us on a very hot spring day.
That said, when we arrived I was disappointed to find that the cottage was just off a very busy road, which wasn't clear from the listing. It was loud during the day but thankfully quieted down at night. My only issue was that of safety -- if our kids had been smaller or less biddable, I would've felt very unsafe letting them run around outside (which is kind of a shame with such a lovely garden.)
The wifi was also very bad, which isn't good for those of us who have to work on our vacations, and the hot water timer and heater were both temperamental and hard to get used to. The kitchenette was well laid out but had closet doors over it that made it even harder to manage with such a small space.
Even with these issues, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.
This lovely little cottage was perfect for me while staying in Santa Rosa. I enjoyed the surrounding restaurants and therefore the kitchenette was fine. It's close to town and to a beautiful lake with running trails. The house itself was well decorated and comfortable. I would definitely come back!
Nice, clean and well appointed. Staff helpful , location and neiborhood very quiet. Just a little tricky to find, the house number comes up rather fast. Just need to be looking closely.
