This was our family's first big ski trip out West and didn't know where to start with so many options of great ski resorts to choose from! Solitude was recommended to us by some friends that ski all over and it was the perfect recommendation for what we were looking for. We have two boys, 12 and 15 and all they care about is snowboarding, no need for shopping or night life. Staying at the resort was perfect because they can ski/snowboard a lot longer than we can so we could relax in the condo or at one of the quaint little restaurants while they were still enjoying the slopes. It's big enough that there was plenty to ski/snowboard for three days but small enough that we could let them go off on their own. There are several casual restaurant options to choose from without leaving the resort, but I wish we had brought some groceries to keep the cost down. We could have driven back down the mountain to the store but once we were there we didn't want to leave and there wasn't any other reason to leave. Powderhorn condo was just the right size for our family of four, very clean and well appointed. The only negative to our stay was that if you are a beginner skier, you have to either shuttle to the green lift or walk with your skis to the lift. It's not too far though, maybe a 7 minute walk. Overall it was a fantastic ski vacation and we will definitely go back!

Our condo was perfect for us, 4 adults. It wasn't easy finding a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit with king size beds. The condo was well equipped with towels and kitchen supplies. Beds were comfortable with clean crisp white linens. Our stay was very enjoyable!

The location was great for skiing and location to Club Solitude. I have a 6 and 8 year old and walking to and from ski lifts was not a problem. Club Solitude was also close walking distance. The village is small so walking to dining option (3) was easy. The ski rental and lift ticket purchase (next to ski rental) was very close to entrance of Powderhorn Lodge.

A major downside for me was the overwhelming smell of a synthetic floral scent, maybe used in the carpet as a coverup or freshener? It was nauseating and we had the windows open until bed time. The smell dissipated over many days but still present on the day we left (stayed 6 nights). A friend was in a place down the hall and their place didn't smell.

I would stay at Powderhorn again but not the same unit. I will look to rent directly from the owner next time. Vacassa gave us the wrong locker combination and our skis and equipment were locked inside. They also gave us the wrong internet connection information. They did however answer the phone every time I called. Inside the building on the ground floor there is no cell service so you have to go outside to call or text.

Solitude I will visit again, I will look for another condo in Powderhorn lodge next time.
Manager Response:
We are disappointed to see this guest was not more satisfied with their stay. The Property Manager will verify the codes are correct before being given to our guests, and housekeeping will do an inspection to find the source of the smell. Thank you!

We had a large group and actually rented two units for our stay. This one we only used for sleeping and didn't do any socializing or cooking here, so I can't really comment on that aspect. It was comfortable and pleasant, and convenient to the hot tub.
