An exciting adventure awaits you at this beautiful, modern house in Belize. Up to four guests will sleep comfortably in this two-bedroom home, with its balcony and close proximity to many attractions.

Located in a quiet neighborhood on the south side of San Ignacio, you'll enjoy tranquil mornings in the courtyard and plenty of shops and restaurants close by. When you want to go exploring, you won't have to go far to find impressive Mayan ruins and beautiful jungle. Please note, this listing includes the upper level of this two-level house. If you have more people in your group, you might take a look at href="https://www.vacasa.com/unit.php?UnitID=8132" target="_blank">the listing for the full house, which will also include the one-bedroom suite on the ground floor.

The house itself features a comfortable atmosphere with authentic wooden furniture and all modern amenities. Sip your morning coffee on the balcony outside while listening to the town wake up, or sit inside around the table for breakfast.

Grab a seat on a variety of furniture in the living area to talk and plan out your days using the complimentary WiFi. The flatscreen cable TV is great for some easy entertainment after a long day.

In the full kitchen, you'll find new stainless steel appliances and everything you need to make the perfect meal. In addition to common essentials, you'll have a mixer and coffeemaker to make use of. You might even visit a local market to buy fresh ingredients to inspire your cooking!

With two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, this home will accommodate up to four lucky travelers. One room features a queen bed with a dreamy beach scene painted on the walls, as well as a full private bathroom. The other room offers a queen bed in a calm blue setting. There are also shared washers and dryers for taking care of laundry.

This house is perfect for couples or a small family - take your rental car or hop on a bus to visit the ancient Maya ceremonial center, Xunantunich, where you'll find an impressive 130-foot pyramid perched above the Mopan River. If you thought that was interesting, be sure to pay a visit to the cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal to take a step through history and learn all about the culture through authentic artifacts and remains.

With so much great wilderness nearby, it would be a shame to let it go unexplored - book a jungle tour with a native expert to catch glimpses of exotic wildlife, some more caves, and maybe even some waterfalls. When you want to just take it easy and enjoy the finer things, venture the short distance into town to dine on exquisite food and experience the rich culture surrounding it.

The on site rep, Elida Garcia, was very helpful, and quite nice. Great Rep!

This was our second stay at Villa Maya in San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize...and it won’t be our last, hopefully. The house is located in a nice neighborhood that’s close to downtown, ruins, and great places to eat. The property is well kept and very clean. Villa Maya boasts two stories that can be rented separately or as the entire house. We stayed in the top story which provides two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a spacious and comfortable living area, huge eat-in kitchen, super fast Internet, cable TV, washer and dryer, and serene wrap-around veranda. Villa Maya is cropped by vacant, groomed lots and offers views of woods, and distant mansions. There is an elementary school across the street from the property...but during our July stay, there were no classes. Each morning we enjoyed the chattering of the chachalacas (birds) in the trees. The only suggestions I have for the owners of this lovely rental are...1. If you are offering this home to families of small children, gates would be important at the tops of both staircases..(They would be a great safety measure for all ages as these stairs are quite steep.) 2. The “Belizean” shower head is a bit scary to Westerners! 3. Towel racks in the guest bath need repair as they are not secured to the walls. 4. Possible updates or posted instructions for the fan/light switches! 5. Some light bulbs need replacing...Small things that will help with safety and comfort! Thanks to the owners and caretakers for offering such a nice home at such a reasonable price!
Manager response:
Hi, Tamera! Thank you for staying with us and sharing your feedback. We have replaced the light bulbs and are in the process of replacing the towel racks. We will get some instructions put together on how to operate the lights and fans as well. We hope to see you again!

Liked the quite peacefulness. Enjoyed drinking my coffee every morning of the veranda.

We really enjoyed our stay and the staff were very helpful and really, really nice. Definitely recommend staying there. Daniel N.

Although it was a little difficult to find, this home was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. The neighbourhood was safe and quiet. The kitchen, bedrooms, and living room had everything we needed. The care taker was quick to answer all our questions and came over within 10 minutes when we had some difficulty with the personal safe. I would definitely stay here again!

It's a bit of a walk to the town center, but villa's manager recommended a taxi which we took for about $1 and they picked us up from the villa. The space is beautiful and spacious. Street dogs can be pretty loud throughout the night if you're a light sleeper (that's anywhere in San Ignacio honestly), but not a deal breaker at all. Overall a good place to stay at. The manager was very attentive and responded to all our WhatsApp messages in a timely manner.

We spent three nights here in December...comfortable, everything worked and the property managers were responsive. It’s a little off the beaten path (not on a “road” really) and the manual gate was a pain in the dark. Also, up high...but no real view. 5 stars if it had an automatic gate and a nicer view!

I love the open space of this condo, it was a lot of room, very comfortable, and super nice. It was clean, the staff was super helpful and was gem in San Ignacio, I would reccomend staying, and would book again.

My wife and I just returned from our stay at Villa Maya. The house itself was great. We stayed in the upstairs suite. We loved the large wraparound balcony. Very neat and well kept. The appliances were all very modern and in good condition. AC worked very well and was happy with the local Cable system ( all NFL games were available to watch). Felt very secure in the house. Good location very close to town and for making day trips. Was a great value for the price. Only problem we had was finding the place. Even with the GPS coordinates we couldn’t find the place for over an hour. You should put up a sign on the edge of the trail leading to the house. Also you can mention it is across the way from the school. Overall we were very happy and would stay again.

Sitting on the edge of the ancient ruins of Cahal Pech, Villa Maya offers parallels the serenity of a home sitting in the middle of a rainforest; however, this home is on the outskirts of San Ignacio Town and in the same neighborhood as the home of Belize's Prime Minister. Directly across the "street" from the home is an elementary school. (No noise from this school except for the laughter of children before classes begin!) Villa Maya sits on more of a trail than a street, but even in heavy rains, we had no problem driving in and out of the property and neighborhood. Inside the house, guests are greeted by gorgeous mahoganey wood-work throughout the home. We stayed in the top level...which I highly recommend because of the huge wrap-around verandas! Sitting on the veranda, guests can not only enjoy a view but also the morning and evening breezes Belize has to offer! The kitchen is stocked with appliances, dishes, and cookware...be careful...most of the plates are NOT microwave friendly! There isn't much in the line of paper goods like paper towels and toilet paper, so be prepared to stop at a grocery store during your visit...You'll also need to pick up laundry supplies (There's a great washer and dryer downstairs!) and any bath/shower items you might need...as in most VRBO/AIRBNB homes, this villa does not offer items such as shampoo, conditioner, etc. Guests have loads of privacy, even if only renting one floor. We'll definitely stay in Villa Maya again...only thing that would make this haven even better...a pool! (The yard is definitely big enough for one!!)

This is a spacious and private 2B/2Ba place perfect for couples or a group of friends looking to explore the amazing jungles of Belize and town of San Ignacio! It’s very safe, double gated (one to enter the premise and one before the stairs) with a lockbox that will keep your keys safe during the day. It is important to note that the location is secluded and thus difficult to describe/find for anyone who isn’t a local. We were only able to arrive on time after we had been met with a shuttle driver previously booked, who was a SI local who happened to have some time to check out the location prior to picking us up. From there, it’s about a 15-20 minute walk to town (downhill) and a 25-30 minute walk back (up a steep hill and through some back roads). Taxi rides both ways are around 5 minutes and 5 Belizean $ (though getting a taxi outside the town limits is difficult and need to be arranged through the concierge). Plan ahead depending on your itinerary and modes of transportation available! Otherwise, effective communication, clean and well accommodated place with a great perimeter balcony. It’s surrounded by dirt roads and there is parking available both within the main gate and outside of it. There is also a supermarket right down the hill where you can grab groceries and basic supplies. There are washers and dryers available in the basement as well. Recommended for those interested in taking local tours from the town of San Ignacio and have means to get around.

Three of us stayed at Villa Maya for 4 days. Had a wonderful time. Did three tours with River rats from this home. The downstairs was vacant. The yard and house were well maintained. It was lovely to wake up and hear birds singing and have a coffee on the patio. There is lots of towels, the air conditioning worked well and the TV was very good. What was missing was any pantry items including basics like salt and pepper. The fridge needed maintenance and was very loud at times. A local phone would have been nice as we did not have a cell phone for taxis. There is a local school right by so if you are going, please take some school supplies to help them out

Had a good time here, however nearby barking dogs continued all night

We enjoyed our stay here! Great bang for the buck.

Perfect house for a base camp to explore the area. Great price and comfortable home. A little out of the way need GPS coordinates for finding it and for tour pick-ups.
Alan L. Feb 2018
We only stayed 2 nights to see the area, but wish we could have stayed longer. Esmeralda was very helpful and the facility was beautiful.

Villa Maya is a hidden gem. Lots of room and in a residential neighborhood next to a school. Very well furnished and VERY comfortable for four people. Well equipped kitchen although we only ate breakfast there, choosing to enjoy the great restaurants nearby. While the yard is fenced and gated, we really never felt it was necessary. Sheldon was vet attentive checking on things frequently. He even got us some extra patio chairs! Nice having laundry facilities so we could start all over with clean clothes before we left. Having a good sized TV was nice for four of us to watch the World Series . And beautiful sunrises from the balcony for us early risers!! You can’t go wrong with Villa Maya

Good location, cold AC, and lots of room make this house a great base camp for a vacation in Belize.

Perfect spot to vacation in San Ignacio. 2 complete separate bedrooms and plenty of space to stretch out.
All appliances are up to date including a washer and dryer. Flat screen tv with plenty of channels. Ice cold air conditioner and hot shower with good pressure.
Safety wasn't an issue. This is a safe neighborhood of San Ignacio we walked at night and felt completely safe.
The apartment has many safety precautions if you have any fears.

We visited Xunantunich, ate dinner at Crave House of Flavor, and had massage at The Magic Touch. Do yourself a favor....rent a car from Crystal Auto, the freedom to explore is AHHmazing. This place is close enough to town, yet perfectly far away♡

We stayed for 3 nights and the place was perfect for two couples. Very comfortable and the kitchen has all the basic necessities. Nice big balcony to hang out on. The unit felt very safe and secure which is important when you're not familiar with the area. We went on two excursions from here (driving) and walked to Cahel Pech from here. The only issue is it is confusing to get to (San Ignacio doesn't really have street signs. Also the roads aren't really paved except for the highway).

Beautiful views, upgraded amenities, perfect for a family.
