Private Island Penthouse at Brahma Blue, San Pedro

Set on the third and top floor at Brahma Blue, this penthouse opens onto wide terraces with views over the lagoon and the mangroves beyond. Large windows and sliding doors keep every room bright, and the breeze off the water moves through the whole home.

The living room has a sofa, a television with streaming and doors straight onto the terrace. A laptop-friendly workspace is there for days when work comes along.

The kitchen has an oven, stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and microwave, plus a coffee maker, blender, toaster, electric kettle and cookware. The dining table sits by the windows, so meals come with a view of the water.

The three bedrooms sleep six. Two have King beds and one has a Queen bed, all with room-darkening shades for slow mornings. There are three full bathrooms, with towels, linens and toiletries provided. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the home cool, and laundry facilities make longer stays easy.

The terraces are where the days begin and end: morning coffee as the light comes up over the lagoon, and a quiet drink as the sun goes down. A barbecue grill is on hand for easy dinners outdoors.

Below, the island's private beach, pool, palapas and lounge areas are made for slow afternoons, and the dock is a good spot to cast a line.

Board games, an electronic dartboard and an arcade system make for easy nights in. It is a calm place to come back to after a day on the water.

Brahma Blue sits on a private island on the lagoon side of Ambergris Caye, across the water from San Pedro town. Life here is quiet and unhurried, with the pool and dock just downstairs. Restaurants, beach bars and tour operators in San Pedro are a short boat ride away.

The island is reached by Brahma Blue's free boat shuttle, which leaves from a private dock by the Saca Chispas field in San Pedro, where public parking is available. There is no parking on the island. In town, golf carts are the usual way to explore.

The boat shuttle runs every two hours, starting at 7:00 AM, with the last trip at 11:45 PM. Plan arrival times and evenings in town around the schedule.
