The home was very clean and roomy. Comfortable for 8 if you use the pull out sofa. It was only two of us so we had the place to ourselves! Love the easy instructions on everything and the keyless lock was great! Just across the street from the lake but a great view! Could use a little TLC but what home couldn't? I'd stay again. Thanks!

I loved the view out the floor to ceiling windows of the tall trees and the lake behind. Gorgeous!

Simple but perfect with the kids, on a quiet little back street where we could be outside with the dog. Very close to all of the fun things even though it's not directly on the water. Booking and checking in were super easy. Really nice little vacation!

The open layout was very nice. The railings were a tad scary for when the dog kept sniffing over the edge but that’s the dogs fault, not the house. The only thing I was not a fan of was where the dock was located. It was not labeled and we had to scale a guard rail to get down. The path needs to be cut larger for safety. The upstairs bedroom doors didn’t lock and there was a hanging screw from the door. The vacuum should be left out in case someone wants to vacuum up leaves that come in. The patio was gorgeous and it was secluded. The area is beautiful and we will definitely be back.
Manager response:
Hi Rose, thank you for sharing your generous review with us. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the layout and location of the home! We have shared your suggestions regarding the updates needed with our local manager who will work with our homeowner to make necessary upgrades. We look forward to hosting you again in the future!

My kids and I absolutely loved our stay for 3 days at Mary’s Landing. The place is kept up very well, in general, and is nicely stocked with clean dishes and cookware, towels, soaps, and has good laundry facilities. The bedrooms are cozy and clean, and there’s a bathroom for every bedroom. The house is interestingly laid out and features modern kitchen equipment and even a foosball table for fun. The view is gorgeous, the lake right across the street, only a few hundred feet from the house. I would definitely rent this house again, and definitely use Vacasa again!

Hello. We were the renters for last weekend. On Saturday at 9:30am My husband and I left the rental and went home. We were there less than 12 hours.

Saturday morning when we woke up and it was day light, we noticed so many things that made us very uncomfortable and disgusted. We cannot believe that we spent $650 on this weekend getaway and the house was in the condition that it was.

We have photographs, but just a brief description - there were dog feces on the back deck - which our dogs could have gotten into since it was dark when we arrived, there’s a rusty garden rake in the yard that they could have stepped on, the windows with the “beautiful view” are filthy and have bugs and webs that cover them and the couches are extremely uncomfortable and worn down.

My husband and I are extremely low maintenance and in fact, if we paid $80 a night for this place we wouldn’t have thought twice. But $125 a night PLUS $130 cleaning fee and then other fees on top of that? For this? That’s absurd.

I mentioned in my “reason for why were staying there” that we have been through a lot the past few weeks. I had a miscarriage that was extremely devastating for our family and we were really looking forward to a weekend away. The fact that we stayed less than 12 hours says something in and of itself. We would rather go home than stay there.

We weren’t looking for a full refund. We were looking for a refund for our second night and the cleaning fee.

We reached out to vacasa and they sent us a generic email giving us 3 options - none of which we qualified for since it was the weekend of our reservation. They never replied. Never got back to me. I’m so upset with this whole situation.

As I stated in my reply back - I didn’t want to leave a negative review since these were simple things that could be fixed. But here we are. I wouldn’t recommend this for a vacation.
Manager response:
Rebecca, thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are genuinely sorry your vacation was not as you imagined. All the issues have been fixed and the windows have since been cleaned. We hope the compensation offered shows our desire to care for our guests, and we do hope to see you again.

Location was great except for continual road noise. A bit strange entering behind a commercial property

This house was perfect for a weekend getaway. The location was great, close to restaurants, and about a ten minute drive to Swallow Falls. It is located on a very quiet street, with a beautiful view of the lake. The house was very clean, and with the touch pad entry it was easy to come and go! Definitely recommend this house for groups of 6 or less, and if you have a dog, this house is perfect with an easy sliding glass door to the yard.

Nice view across the Lake. The house was very clean.

Everything!

There isn’t much to love about this home for the price that is charged. There is one window AC unit in one of the rooms. The other rooms and the rest of the house has no AC. The house is weathered inside and out, it needs a deep deep clean and to be gutted and upgraded. We had to wipe down areas that clearly haven’t been wiped by the cleaners and our dog was picking up all sorts of scents from the carpet every step she took. Didn’t feel too homey or vacation like. Our best moments were spent outdoors on the lake. If you’re looking for bare minimum and this is the cheapest option you can find, it works for a couple days.
Manager response:
Hi, Yury! Thank you for letting us know about your stay. A deep clean has been scheduled for the home, and we have had the air conditioner inspected. We do hope to see you again!
Laura J. Aug 2020
It was exactly as advertised and consistent with the reviews.

Great location, near lake, shops and fun places to go. Quiet and private road, very relaxing and loved the floor plan of the house!
Nicole B. Jul 2020
Cozy and convenient everything you need to do is a quick ride away. The house is clean and lots of windows to view partial lake view.
Chris Z. Jun 2020
We had a lovely stay. The home was plenty big enough for the five of us and the dog. Very clean and cute cottage with a lovely view. I would definitely consider staying here again

This home was a great weekend getaway home for my family, including our dog! Lake view, free Wi-Fi and more than enough room for us. We would definitely come back! Make sure to follow Waze for directions because Google Maps took us on a different road there.

The home is not bad at all. I love that is pet-friendly! My dogs loved that there was carpet all over the place so they can run around without sliding (have hardwood floors at home). I recommend this home be used in Fall or Winter. There is pretty much no A/C, so when we went in Mid-August we had all windows open and all fans going. The cooler nights and cooler days sure helped keeping it cool enough in the house. There seem to be heaters in the house so that's why I said maybe winter be great. Getting to the house wasn't too bad thanks to other reviews. You have to drive through the parking lot of Bill's Marine Service, turn right at the end of the parking lot, go down a gravel road (watch for potholes), and there you are. I did like that it was secluded, had a pretty view, and close to a lot of things to do(eat/fun).
We had issues with the elock but after 30 minutes and playing around with it we figured out you must press the lock in the bottom left corner, which then the numbers show up after a chime. No issues after that once we figured it out. Might sound like I am nitpicking but wanted to make sure anyone that reads my review knows how to get there AND be able to get in the house if they decide to rent.
I would stay here again!

Very nice, spacious and clean house. Secluded enough from the neighbors, with a great view of the lake. Would definitely book this place again.
Kenneth B. Aug 2018
It's bare minimum. No AC. Good for hunting group or bachelor party.
Laura H. Aug 2018
This house fit the bill since it it allowed us to bring our dogs and have access to a boat slip. The inside is dated but was very clean. Plenty of televisions and fans with each room having their own. No major issues with the house and the local manager was very helpful and responsive with any questions I had. The location is very convenient to restaurants and stores. The foosball table was a fun addition with four teens in the house.
Not so good: The beds were covered in plastic under the sheets which made for a noisy and not the most comfortable night's sleep. I loved all the windows on the side of the house. However, I would suggest having the upstairs windows cleaned, or simply brushed off every once and awhile, as a lot of them were covered in bug and carcass filled spider webs. (Thankfully no spiders in the house though). Garrett Highway was very busy and I would not have felt comfortable parking on the shoulder as there's not a ton of room so we walked to the slip each day. There's somewhat of a rough path down the steep wooded hillside leading to the road, which was slippery due to all the rain. You then had to cross the busy highway and over the guard rail to the slip. But the slip was great!
FYI: You have to drive into Bill's Marine Service, turn right all the way up at the top of their parking lot and onto the dirt road that leads to the house. The area is not the most ideal location to have to park your truck and boat trailer but it is manageable.
Manager response:
We do have the plastic on the sheets for sanitary purposes and apologize if this guest experienced discomfort due to that precaution. The windows have been cleaned, and we are looking into possible solutions for the slick path. Thank you!

Personally I would do a walk through with the owner upon arrival make sure everything works before he leaves. There was something's that did not work and made the stay unconformable.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Andrea! We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we encourage guests to reach out to our local staff for assistance. We will schedule a service visit to ensure the home is evaluated for any repairs needed. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!
