Very clean place! Spacious for large groups! Loved the hot tube and fire pits!

This home has everything you need for a relaxing family vacation. It's very well equipped for just about any activity. The pool table and hot tub were great! The only drawback is that it's on a steep hill, so if anyone has mobility issues you'll want to take that into consideration.

This is a Very nice and clean cabin that is Pet friendly. The kitchen is a little small but has everything available that you need for your vacation. Our family loved the cozy at home feel that the cabin has. The 4 bedrooms are all a nice size and the loft is big enough for an air mattress if you need more room. The couch also folds down into a bed. There is no air conditioning in this cabin but we had the start of some nice fall weather and just opened the windows for a cool breeze. We would definitely book this cabin again for our family getaway.

Where is Swanton, MD?

Swanton is located in the sparsely populated western panhandle of Maryland, in the heart of the Eastern Deciduous Forest. Despite its remoteness, it remains easily accessible from many of the East Coast's major cities (two hours from Pittsburgh, and a little over three from Baltimore and Washington DC), making it a peaceful escape from the bustle of urban life.

Things to do in Swanton, MD

With a population of only 58 people, Swanton's tiny size belies its enormous variety of year-round outdoor activities. Within a 15-mile radius, you'll find Maryland's tallest free-flowing waterfall (Muddy Creek Falls, at 54 feet), its largest lake (Deep Creek Lake, with 69 miles of shoreline), and its biggest state park (Savage River State Forest, with 54,000 acres of densely wooded hills).

These spectacular natural areas have endowed the region with a reputation as an all-season recreational mecca. In the winter, head north to Wisp Mountain, where you can ski, snowboard, and bobsled down a 700-foot vertical drop. In the summer, choose between boating, hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, or white-water rafting - to name just a few! Be sure to also stop by the quaint, nearby town of Oakland, where you'll find numerous antique stores, farmers markets, and outdoor festivals.

When you're looking for a country retreat away from the noise of the big city, our vacation rentals in Swanton offer a relaxing and refreshing change of pace. Book a stay and get back to nature!
