Cozy Dog-friendly Cottage with Great Ocean Views and Fantastic Location

This cute and cozy South Beach vacation rental offers gorgeous ocean views, a pet-friendly attitude, and all the basics to ensure you have a fantastic coastal getaway!

Located in South Beach, about five miles south of Newport, this home is close to the ocean, west of Highway 101, and within easy reach of many of the Central Coast's best attractions. Take a leisurely, scenic two-mile drive south to Ona Beach State Park for easy beach access.

Walk up to this charming cabin and step inside to find a warm and welcoming interior. Sit down and relax on the sofa and gaze out the sliding glass door at the nearby ocean, or flip on the TV and watch some cable or use the DVD player. You could even start a fire in the wood-burning fireplace to keep the space extra cozy, then grab one of the books from the shelf and spend an evening reading while snuggled up.

WiFi is available throughout the house, so you will have no trouble keeping up with your emails or looking up the day's tide tables. On the other hand, you could take this opportunity to turn off your phone and other electronics and enjoy life's simple pleasures! Put one of the provided records on the turntable and dance around, tell stories around the fireplace, or sit outside on the porch and watch the sun set over the ocean.

A compact kitchen has all the bare necessities - stove/oven, fridge, coffeemaker, oven, and sink - and even offers a few extras such as a coffee grinder, blender, and mixer. This is a charming space where you will have no trouble whipping up delicious meals, whether you're planning a quick breakfast of eggs and pancakes or a roast chicken dinner.

Down the hallway is a laundry area, which will certainly come in handy after a few days of playing on the nearby beach. A full bathroom has an old-fashioned tub and shower. In the bedroom you will find a full-size bed and a sliding glass door that offers access to the deck, so you can open up the door to get some fresh sea air, or step outside and sit at the table with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and enjoy the sounds of the sea.

This home is a perfect size for two guests, and would be great for a couple's retreat, fun getaway with a friend, or a trip with a small family. As many as three people are welcome to stay here, as long as one person is willing to sleep on the cozy sofa in the living room. You can even bring one dog with you, though please be aware that a nightly pet fee will apply.

Because you're so close to the beach, bring the dog and head down to the sand! Drive a few minutes south to Ona Beach and enjoy a picnic lunch, launch a kayak on the creek, or spend an afternoon strolling on the shore and looking for interesting shells. You could also go a couple of miles north to South Beach State Park, which has plenty of parking, easy beach access, walking paths, and a stretch of coastline that leads up to the jetty. Keep heading north on the highway and you'll find yourself in wonderful Newport, which offers a huge variety of activities to please every visitor.

On the south side of town, stop in at the famous Oregon Coast Aquarium and the Hatfield Marine Science Center, then do some antiquing in the area. Around town you will find many fantastic restaurants, plenty of shopping, activities such as golfing, boating on the Yaquina Bay, exploring the Nye Beach area, and much more. The lovely Lincoln City is about 35 minutes north along the highway, and there are many gorgeous viewpoints around the Central Coast, so don't be afraid to set out and spend a day exploring the coastline!

Book this cozy, pet-friendly, oceanview Central Oregon Coast vacation rental now and start getting excited for your fun-filled trip!

Small quaint with all the things you need! The beach access is a plus!
Kari L. Mar 2022
The beach below the property was nice and pretty quiet with a lot of great fossilized shells and cool caves. The house was as described in some of the other reviews. We slept on dirty Sandy sheets the first night…thinking it was just cheap cotton. Upon closer examination in the morning it was clearly sand in the sheets. We found out her sheets in a drawer and changed them. There was plenty of drink-ware but several of the glasses had chips and cracks. There was some kind of leak in the bathroom (the toilet potentially) causing the floor to be slightly wet at all times. Aside from that it was a nice cozy getaway and was wonderful hearing the ocean as we slept. I left an item and tried to contact the owners but never received a reply.
Jamison C. Feb 2022
This was a very cozy and comfy place to stay. Everything was just what we needed.
KRISTINA W. Oct 2021
Thank you for sharing your adorable cottage with us. It was perfect. Everything we could ever need including ocean views, a comfy bed and excellent water pressure. We will be back.
Carole B. Oct 2021
Very comfortable, charming cabin. Staff was very responsive when the wi-fi didn't work. Sent out someone within a few hours. Quiet setting but near great beaches and Newport.
Laura S. Oct 2021
This cute little cabin was perfect for our 25th anniversary. Cozy and comfortable for two people. We'll be back.
Vicki B. Oct 2021
Nestled in trees and other homes 🏡 a person can feel thousands of miles from anyone. We left the window in the bedroom open at night to hear the roar of the ocean waves. It was a nice getaway.
Doug A. Sep 2021
This house is charming but falls short in too many areas to want to go back. Location is great and its a good size for a couple to have a nice time. However living room furniture is so old and in horrible shape. (Pictures do not reflect their condition). Had to cover everything with towels or blankets to feel comfortable and enjoy ourselves. Broken faucet in bathroom hasn't been fixed for many months, (read other reviews) which shows that no one cares enough to fix it, they just leave a note when you arrive explaining the unfortunate inconvenience. There are no drinking glasses or wine glasses to enjoy a drink or cocktail unless you enjoy wine out of a coffee mug of which they have 9. The bed is the shining star of the house. Its clean and comfortable. Sliding door has no screen so you cant leave it open for air and ocean sound and the glass is so hazy you cant enjoy the ocean view. This house has amazing potential and I don't think its very costly to rectify but for the money in this condition its not worth it.
Manager response:
We are glad you chose to stay with us, Doug. We apologize your stay did not meet your expectations. The faucet is repaired. The furniture will not be replaced at this time. Thank you!
Robyn M. Sep 2021
I was able to stay at a vintage cottage close to the ocean. In the evenings, I could sit on the back porch for dinner and watch/listen to the waves roll in… this was located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood where I was able to find peace and relaxation.
JoAnn M. Aug 2021
We really enjoyed our stay here especially the access to the beach (no problems). The beach was quiet, clean, and we loved being able to hear the waves as we slept. Everything was in order when we got there. It was just right for two people and a pooch!
Karen S. Jul 2021
We emailed Vacasa directly with some feedback which echos much from the previous feedback. This cabin has so much potential. Hopefully the local company and the owner will be able to solve some of the issues. If they do, this place deserves a higher rating. In the meantime bring your own outdoor chairs and glassware. Hopefully the hot water faucet in the bathroom has been fixed.
The bed is nice and the shower has great water pressure and a wonderful showerhead. The view of the ocean from the deck is nice. Might be a good idea to cut back some of the berry vines and other shrub. They are starting to take over the view.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Karen. We are so glad to hear that you feel the home has potential. The faucet has been repaired immediately following your suggestions. Your other comments have been passed along to the local manager who will work to make any necessary improvements with the homeowner. We hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future!
Katie S. Jul 2021
We stayed a full week. Cute little cottage. Here’s our feedback.

-Ocean view & sounds were amazing
-Short walk to the beach (Didn’t have issues with “the neighbor”)
-Full kitchen and had mostly everything we needed
-Fridge is new
-Bed was comfortable
-Awesome neighbors at the top of the hill. They were generous with their time and shared some great advice with us about the area!
-Close access to town attractions, state parks and beaches
-Decent price considering there is an ocean view and the location is west of Hwy 101.

-Overall cleanliness issues
-2 used bars of soap and hair in shower when we arrived.
-Toilet had urine residue running down the front when we
-Dusty floors, surfaces & dishes
-Furniture is well loved so bring a couple blankets as a cover.
-Black soot all over walls and ceiling from, I assume, a closed flue? Ongoing complaint in the reviews- I'm surprised it's still an issue. The smoky smell was difficult to get through with a kiddo who has asthma.
-One tiny fan that was caked with dust and had no real air flow when turned on. (Rough in the summer)
-No wine glasses to enjoy a glass of wine. Only 1 champagne flute.
-Zero counter space to prep food. Recommend purchasing precut veggies & fruit.

Overall, we had a great time exploring the area and enjoyed our time there.
Manager response:
We sincerely apologize for the cleanliness concerns you encountered during your stay with us. Our team of housekeepers takes pride in their cleanliness standards, as it is a top priority service we provide for every guest prior to check-in. We are disappointed to see that this concern was not reported to us during your stay as we would have been happy to assist. We have passed your feedback along to our housekeeping staff so they are aware of your concerns. We hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future!
Libby P. Jun 2021
It was very neat and clean. Gorgeous views from the deck and comfortable place to stay. No issues with anything.
Margaret C. May 2021
This little cottage is cute and has a nice ocean view from the deck, but there were several problems with the cottage that caused me to mark it down. They seem to be things that could easily be fixed but haven't been.
Mary C. May 2021
Nice cottage. Had everything I needed. The beach access is nice except the neighbor at the end of the road didn’t seem to like that I used the stairs to the beach and was pretty aggressive about it.
Overall I loved my time there.
Martin H. Mar 2021
Well, we loved the location and the ocean view, but honestly for the price to rent this place (or any these days!), the condition was unacceptable. We stayed and made the most out of it because putting that money up for this little getaway was a big deal for us in these troubled times. The hot water faucet in the bathroom doesn’t work, multiple dirty or broken dishes upon arrival, sooty and dusty interior that made us uncomfortable with the cleanliness—no logs provided for fire place despite saying there would be some for us. Although, we can see why the owners wouldn’t want folks using the fireplace any longer—looked like someone had nearly burnt the place down recently with all the soot covering the walls, ceilings, fixtures, and lesser-used dishes!! Holes, scratches, and unpainted plaster patches everywhere on the walls—this place really needs some work! Outdoor lights for porches weren’t working either. We don’t mind roughing it or staying in a rustic cabin, but that’s not what we thought we were signing up for and again—for the cost in this day and age, and for people like us who this was a real expense, it’s not acceptable. We won’t be back to this house.
Manager response:
We are so glad you stayed with us, Martin, and are disappointed to read you were unhappy. The property manager is working to get the home cleaned up as quickly as possible so our guests will be comfortable here. We hope to be able to impress you in the future!
Laurie L. Feb 2021
While I can appreciate the "shabby chic" style of decorating the Living room couch and chair are old and broken down. Not comfortable at all considering it's really the only place to sit.

Ocean View? Very small ocean view in the living room if you are standing up. Great view from the bedroom if you want to spend all of your time sitting on the bed. Speaking of the bed that was the only comfy thing in the house...not amazingly comfy but decent.
Kitchen...the photos don't lie, it's extremely small. Honestly don't plan to cook pots and pans, one cookie sheet, tiny oven, absolutely no prep space, no storage containers for leftovers, no saran wrap or tin foil, only 1 wine glass (limited glassware overall). No dishwasher--missed seeing that in the pictures and yes we just washed after each meal. Best to eat out or bring in takeout. Lots of issues with ants but it is February in Oregon, need ant traps for sure.

If you plan to have a fire crack the window/back door. Fireplace does not draw so lots of smoke damage on ceiling and walls. All of our luggage came home smelling of smoke.

Planning on putting together a puzzle? Don't. There is no surface in the house big enough unless you do it on the floor.

Overall the house was clean when we arrived. It just wasn't a comfortable or enjoyable stay between the kitchen, seating and the smoke. For the price we could have stayed in a hotel in Newport and eaten out each day. Not worth the cost.
Manager response:
Thank you for your helpful input, Laurie! We do not provide tin foil or saran wrap though we can look into some food storage containers. The fireplace is clean and needs to be used with the flue open. We hope to see you again!
Jerry O. Feb 2021
My husband and I *really* wanted to love this place but we were very unhappy with its upkeep (or lack there of). The lack of easy beach access was disappointing but the view was great nonetheless. It is a nice location, set on a quiet lane, with beaches near-by. The dirtiness and poor maintenance was a deal-breaker though. None of the exterior lights were working which made it difficult to move around outside after dark. The interior lights were dim and some not working either. All the furnishings were in poor condition and ratty and torn-up. The kitchen was not well-cleaned and one pan was very dirty and greasy and took a lot of elbow grease to get it in usable condition. The floors were not swept well and the baseboards were quite dirty and the bathroom was in disrepair. Lastly, there were ants crawling all over - gross!!! We ended up having a nice time despite the dirtiness and poor maintenance and if better kept, this place would be a great place to get away.
Manager response:
Hi, Jerry! We are working with local staff to get the home thoroughly deep cleaned, and the homeowner will be looking into replacing the outside light fixtures and furniture. Thank you!
Juan R. Feb 2021
A perfect place to enjoy and experience the coast.
Katie S. Nov 2020
This little house was so perfect for a Thanksgiving getaway for us and the dog. The location and quiet beach access were perfect for morning and evening walks on the beach. We barely saw the neighbors and when we did, they were very friendly. Would definitely recommend for a couple looking for a quiet vacation away from it all.

It was very hard to leave; we will definitely be back!
Leah M. Oct 2020
The primary reason we chose this property was the promise of walkable beach access. When we arrived, we were saddened to see a note in the home that said there was no access any longer and when we walked toward the trail, there was an orange cone blocking the way. Our second day there we spoke with a kind neighbor who told us that the cone and the note are all a property owner ruse to keep visitors off the public access route. We walked past the cone (this is not trespassing) and the trail is great. Steep but very walkable if you are in agile shape. Do not be fooled by the attempts to keep you off the beach! It’s beautiful and makes this property a worthwhile stay.
Manager response:
Hi Leah, we appreciate your feedback. We apologize for any confusion with beach access. In our check-in email and app we let guests know: "There is beach access from the house -- follow the white picket fence to the left until you reach the path. However, it can be a slippery and treacherous path. Safer access is two miles south at the public beach." We believe that may be what the cone and note meant. We hope to host you again soon.
Jack J. Aug 2020
Pros: The home is easy to get to and find. The location is quiet. There is plenty of hot water and the washer/dryer is a great addition to the home. The Wifi works great.

Cons: The number 1 reason I chose this property was BEACH ACCESS. Beach Access is no longer available and hasn't been for at least six months according to the guest book at the house. The ad should not state there is beach access.

During these Pandemic times, prudent folks are going to want to cook at the property. While the 1950's (or 60s) Zenith frig looks super cool, it belongs on the junk pile. As soon as I opened the fridge to put our groceries away, the freezer door fell completely off and was dangling by a piece of metal. When it wasn't freezing everything up in sight including most of our produce, it went through cycles where it dripped copious amounts of water onto our food. The frig is literally held together by bailing wire and tape in places. Pretty unacceptable. While the stove is definitely usable, 3 of the 4 electric burners, had heating coils that didn't fit properly. Hence, 3 of the 4 heating surfaces were not even remotely even. It, too, should be replaced with something from the last 20 years.

The property while cute is shabby at best. Every room needs to be painted with scratches and gouges in the walls. The bathroom looks like it had all the towels bars remounted but you can see exactly where everything was patched because the patching spackle is still visible, not even painted over.

There is a nice little deck off the side of the house. I literally snipped and cut all the blackberry brambles that poked up through the decking and intruded onto the deck so we could sit out there unmolested by thorns.

I have stayed at a lot of properties on the Oregon Coast, none had as much potential as this little house. What a disappointment!
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Jack. We have replaced the fridge, and landscaping has been done. The neighbors have illegally posted signs regarding the access; we have taken them down since beach access is fully available to our guests. We hope to see you again!
Galit Z. Aug 2020
Very cozy cottage with easy access to stores and nearby beaches!! We loved hearing the waves and getting to see the beach from the cottage..
Celine Elise R. Jul 2020
Grateful to get to stay here. However, the beach access is no longer available. The cleanliness of the bungalow was subpar and here were fleas. The bed comfy and bathroom is a vintage dream. The deck has a lovely view and is nice to sit on.
Manager response:
Hi, Celine Elise! We appreciate your review and are sorry to read you had any disappointments. The home has been treated for fleas, and beach access is still available. Thank you!
Lisa A. Jul 2020
Cosy little spot in a very quiet neighborhood with lovely views through a few houses to the ocean. Not the spot for those who want up to date amenities but a great little retreat if you want to walk, read, and listen to the waves.
lorraine o. Mar 2020
Location even tho there was not direct beach access. Listening to the waves & watching the surf from the windows & back deck was wonderful. The cabin was a step back in time. Like going to your grandpas cabin
Hailey S. Oct 2019
This was a cute little cottage with enough modern amenities to be comfortable for all, but not so much that you avoid going outside. The beach is less then 5 minutes to walk down to and you can hear and see it in basically every room which is amazing. Newport is one of my favorite beach towns and this house was a great distance. If there were neighbors, we didn’t hear or see them at all which is nice when you’re trying to escape a little and be in the peace and quiet. Thanks for sharing your home!
Guy P. Oct 2019
Cozy, great beach access, dog friendly!
William R. Oct 2019
Comfy bed, nice access to a beautiful private beach
christopher m. Sep 2019
We loved the location with tremendous access to a gorgeous, uncrowded beach that stretched for miles in either direction. House was clean and well equipped, although appliances were a little dated. Bed very comfortable, and the house was perfect for a couple's getaway.
Kevin E. Sep 2019
Absolutely wonderful! We had such a amazing time! Cozy, comfortable, place. We will be back soon! Thank you so very much!
carla c. Aug 2019
It is a quaint little home with charm and privacy. Nice location to many coastal attractions.
Patty W. Jul 2019
The sounds and views of ocean, walks on the beach, pet friendly. Had a coffee pot. This was a fantastic place for us to stay!
Patrick L. Jul 2019
The location and view were exceptional! Within a couple of hours of our arrival, we spotted a pod of whales while sitting on the deck. They were there for all 3 days of our stay. Awesome!
Janet-lee M. Jul 2019
The private beach was fantastic...Gracie (dog) and I had it all to ourselves three days straight! Great location, sea air, view, quiet - yet close to everything.
Michael S. Jul 2019
Fireplace logs ready to go, record player and collection, cool antiques in space, near the ocean and can fall asleep listening to the waves. Beautiful sunsets from deck.
Lily L. May 2019
This cute little cottage provided everything we needed for a wonderful time on the coast. Private beach access is great and very close to several state parks. It was our puppy's first trip to the beach and we appreciate the opportunity to bring her with us.
Barbara A. Apr 2019
Great, quiet location. Private path to beach. Cozy place that even has a record player. Vintage cottage
Jeffrey G. Dec 2018
The house had everything we needed. The private beach access was nice, and the location is just a short drive from Newport. Great spot for a weekend beach retreat
F. L. Dec 2018
Loved the clean, cozy cottage with an amazing view.
James K. Nov 2018
Location location location. Maybe 50 yards to beach down a steep trail. Houses around cabin are quite and likely not rentals. Drive in is a gravel path. Not a neighborhood but more like some individuals who built on lots. Short drive to town. Great beach. Cabin is sparse but has most of what u need. If u plan on cooking bring most of what you need. Very few pots and pans. Fireplace only burns fake logs that kinda have a chemical smell. Overall the cabin fit our needs so no real complaints. Some upgrades in furniture, tv, and bed would make it really nice for not much money.
Manager response:
We appreciate our guest taking the time to leave their review with us. We will replace the pots and pans immediately and suggest new bedding to the owner. Thank you!
Steve S. Nov 2018
Loved it...the perfect balance of convenience, and remoteness to make you feel like you all alone on the beautiful Oregon Coast. Cute, quaint, cozy...I really enjoyed the place. My wife and I were there for our anniversary and it was just right. Thanks!!!
Brianna D. Oct 2018
Small, couple sized, vintage, warm, romantic getaway! Loved this spot, I will be back for another stay someday. Private beach close enough for a private walk next to the ocean.
This place was very clean, warm, had hot water to shower, very clean linens and towels. Cute kitchen to cook a meal. I loved everything about this cottage. Give it a chance!
Sara Kathryn W. Sep 2018
A perfect place!
Debbie S. Sep 2018
Great little cottage. Will definitely be our go to spot.
Edie H. Sep 2018
Loved the retro ambience of the cottage. Really enjoyed the old record player and the nostalgic albums! House was well-stocked and had everything we needed. The private beach access was amazing. We were the ONLY ones on the beach one day. Enjoyed the sunsets and watching the whales. The little porch was a nice, relaxing place to have coffee and look at the ocean. Appreciated that we got to bring our dog with us. She had a great time too!
Susan W. Jul 2018
Private area with great ocean views, cottage was clean & provided many amenities.
Gail B. Jul 2018
Lovely beach and sunset views
Steph A. Jun 2018
Great location. Perfect little cottage for our much needed vacation. Great little trail to the beach. It was wonderful to listen to the waves at night. Can't wait to come back again!
Mary K. Jun 2018
Loved the seclusion the retro touches and the view from the balcony. Lovely sun trap to sip a wine at the end of the day.
Dan S. May 2018
We love this house! This was our second visit to this home in the same month. If I had the time I'd go back next weekend. two minor issues, freezer needs defrosting still. I had to remove enough ice so the door would stay shut and there isn't a toaster. As I said in my last review, these minor issues are far outweighed by how great the rest of the stay was.
paula v. Apr 2018
Loved the location.
Dan S. Apr 2018
Very quiet, clean and private. We where looking for a place to relax and reconnect and it was perfect! The path to the beach isn't as treacherous as some have commented though you do need to be sure footed. Nye beach in Newport is an easy walk on beach for the faint of heart.
Johnny K. Mar 2018
It was very quiet great view close to town and parks and aquarium.
Matthew S. Feb 2018
Perfect little cottage get-away for two. It's small, but doesn't feel cramped. Has everything you need and not a lot that you don't. Better ocean views than you might expect, and really feels quiet and secluded, despite other homes nearby. Beach access is a bit precarious for the not so fleet footed, but there is a very nice state park just 5 min drive away.
Not a great fit for folks that want to walk out the door to amenities, but if you're into holing up by the fire* and don't mind driving for supply runs or dining out, this is a nice little retreat spot. (*Presto logs only FYI; no real wood allowed.)
Matthew G. Jan 2018
Like how far away this was from Portland. A great getaway.
Ashley B. Jan 2018
Perfect location and setup
Alexander O. Nov 2017
A great little bungalow by the beach but not on the beach. There were instructions on how to walk to the beach upon arriving at the home with a “at your own” disclaimer as I believe it’s a little steep. I didnt try it. Heaters in living area and bedroom worked great. Plenty of lights in the place. Bed was comfy. Was able to do a load of laundry with no problems. On a very quiet small street. No problems getting in with the directions provided. It’s virtually right off the 101 highway. Just a few miles from the main part of Newport. You can quickly get to all the attractions or points of interest in the area.
Benjamin P. Oct 2017
If you are looking for quiet and simple life. This is the place.
ANTHONY F. Oct 2017
Ryan L. Sep 2017
Timeliness on your item recovery process. Your guests shouldn't have to constantly email and call about trying to recover a left article. People travel with multiple pieces of luggage and sometimes things get left behind - waiting a week to finally hear from someone does not show you are invested in helping us recover our left behind items. At that point, someone could have very easily taken them. Place was wonderful but will no longer use Vacasa due to lack of due dillengence in retrieving our luggage.
Marianne D. Sep 2017
A very nice and silent Place.
David K. Sep 2017
We traveled up and down the coast from Reedsport to Cape Meares. We saw many amazing things, lighthouses, great coastlines, sea lions, harbor seals, whales. This was the perfect place for us to come home everyday. Comfortable, quaint and well appointed. Highly recommend.
Charlie M. Aug 2017
My wife and I spent our anniversary here and enjoyed it very much. It is the perfect size for a couple. The location is great with just a short walk to the beach. Loved sitting on the deck and watching the ocean and watching a movie in the evening with a fire going in the fireplace.
Kathleen W. Aug 2017
Lovely little romantic beach cottage. Access to the beach for morning walks and evening sunset. Lots to go see in Newport.
Rebecca A. Aug 2017
Beautiful little cabin with an ocean view, and all the amenities we wanted for a relaxing honeymoon. Sweet spot--hope to return!
Elaine M. Aug 2017
Very cute cottage setting, although close to 101 even though set back a bit. Beach is a small hike down from property or you must take your car.

Weather was cold and damp for August so having a fireplace and bathtub were much appreciated, as well as having a washer/dryer. Bed was a little small, but bedroom was very cheery and light.
Kayla O. Aug 2017
We got married in South Beach and we absolutely loved our stay at the house! it was perfect just for the two of us and we loved how they had thought about all of the small details we would need!
Mark L. Aug 2017
My wife and I loved the cottage and the location. We felt like we are all away from it all but could get to Newport for a night out when we wanted. Beach access was excellent you can walk on somewhat steep pathways that are narrow. When we were there there were not a lot of other people around so it felt quite private. Sitting on the deck and watching the whales in the ocean was pretty much worth the price of sitting on the deck and watching the whales in the ocean was pretty much worth the price of admission! Would definitely stay again :)
Wendy F. Aug 2017
So cute! Vintage kitchen, views of the Ocean from bed. Access to water down some skinny steps.....Only for the surefooted but once you're down there you have a giant beach to yourself!
Only 5 houses in the neighborhood and most of them vacant.
Quiet and peaceful. Only the birds and the ocean. Perfect romantic getaway for two or a teapot for one.
Not walkable to anything tho.
Nicole M. Aug 2017
I would love to live there. It is very cozy and comfortable.
Kate M. Jul 2017
Perfect for the two of us and our little doggy. She loved it as did we: great ocean view and sound of. The sea. Very pleasant and accessible to wherever we wanted to go.
Natalie W. Jun 2017
Thank You for letting us stay at this quaint little cottage. I loved the vintage farmhouse feel and look. I will definitely stay here again.
Dana L. May 2017
This was a cozy one bedroom, one bathroom home in a fairly secluded area between Hwy 101 and the coast. You are not in walking distance to any coffee shops or restaurants, but with a trip to the grocery store before hand, you really won't want to leave. The house has cute and homey decoration. We loved the record player, the deck with ocean views and beach access (very steep, but doable). We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend for an individual or couple looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway.
Jared H. May 2017
House was clean and neat. Super quiet street with friendly neighbors. Beach access was awesome. Great little spot
Dawn V. Apr 2017
...just how we like it!
Sharmila K. Mar 2017
This cottage is really special with its homey n warmth feeling . We were truly lucky n blessed to find this place and took home some very amazing memories. Can't wait to come back again.
Boyd K. Jan 2017
We were looking for an affordable house with a view, that allowed our dogs. We found it! The cottage was cozy and quiet and just what we were looking for!
Nicholas O. Dec 2016
We enjoyed our family stay over the thanksgiving weekend here. The house is cozy, several duraflame logs were provided for a fire, and the location was a quick drive to Newport for exploring. The path to the beach was fine for our 2-yr old to amble down (highly supervised!) but wear shoes with traction as it is steep and slippery when wet. Waves from high tide come right up to the base of the path so be prepared.

All amenities were provided as detailed in the rental description, with the exception of a coffee grinder. So bring your own if you need one!

A beautiful little cottage--just right for rest for the two of us.

My husband works on one side of the state and I work on the other, so we enjoy getting together to reconnect. This is a charming couples cottage. The bed was comfy, the scenery was nice, and it was great to have wifi since the cell phone reception wasn't great. We have already recommended it, and we're going to try to make it back again in the future.

This was a lovely little cottage. Perfect for a couples get away.

Quiet place, great views, close to town

Lousy kitchen...dangerous entry and exit to the access to the beach (unless you fly), too many quasi antiques and too little work space, sink curtain constantly falling off...sheesh!
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see that this guest did not have a better experience here. The sink curtain is firmly in place. There isn't any counter space in the home, but it's quaint and cozy. The beach access is approximately 5 minutes away, and the view is beautiful!

There's a view of the ocean from the bed not shown in the photos that were a pleasant surprise. This cottage is like stepping back in time - so not for folks that like new/updated - but more for folks that like charm and cozy! The beach trail could be hard for some but not for the average able bodied adult. As a result there's not a ton of other people down there and that's priceless in the middle of summer! We loved it and will be back again - mainly because my dog needs a relatively private beach to be able to be off leash. Wish we could burn regular wood in the fireplace - so much more charming the crackle of a fire...

The house is nice and the interior is very charming. But most of the interior is old and needs replacement. Better cleaning is needed.

Quaint tiny house; vintage. Access to beach is limited, and be careful turning off 101. A large tree is there to greet you!
Christina W. Jul 2016
Perfect little house for a getaway for two. Charming, beachy, vintage decor including a record player and records! Awesome deck with partial view of ocean and 5 minute walk til your toes are in the sand.

Nice little cottage with beach access. Great place to stay.

We feel right at home the minute we enter this cottage. The furnishings are comfortable and quaint. Everything we need is right there. The ocean views and accessibility to the beach are great. There is a lot to do in the surrounding areas for everyone, dining, shopping, nature trails and, of course, miles of beach to explore and enjoy. We have been twice and can't wait until we can go again!

This quaint little cottage was in a great area for us. Being able to open the doors and windows to hear & see the ocean was amazing. Heed the sign by the front door when it comes to beach access. We made it down fine, but if you have little ones or are not very limber you might want to go down to the public access area. This cottage is the perfect little getaway and has everything one would need for rest and relaxation.

Location,views, and beach access! Perfect!

All And all we had s nice visit. The cottage could use some TLC.

This little house is a treasure. Very clean and cute as can be. The view was better than it looked in the pictures. We hope to be back very soon.

Quiet, cozy, and wonderfully relaxing rental. The beach behind the house is breathtaking.

Loved the intimacy and quaintness of the house. Conveniently close to Newport's sights and restaurants. This house is not equipped for those looking to do a lot of cooking (small stove and no exhaust fan). There were also sugar ants that made having food out tricky (I ended up putting all of my food in the fridge). Still a great house for those seeking a quiet beach getaway.

The small cottage was a cozy nest for two. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach and the partial views of the ocean. The tub was perfect for a relaxing bath. The antiques and collectibles throughout the house were fun. We especially liked the old records and record player! We had a very enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

I highly recommend.

I stayed at this property as a retreat with my dog. We had a lovely time. The clawfoot tub is AMAZING, and the view of the surf is nice, even with the house in the way. The "beach access" is not for the physically challenged or faint of heart, but there is public beach access a short drive away. The home was clean and warm, the bed was comfortable, and the appliances all worked. Two things: The owners don't want regular logs used on the fire, but no "fire logs" were in evidence for my stay. Also, bring your own coffee grinder, coffee snobs. If you are looking for a nice little retreat, this is a great little place. :)

I'm a writer and came out for a few days to finish writing my latest book, sought this place out due to its closeness to the beach and privacy it had. Loved both even with the big storms that came in, it was a lovely quiet place to stay at and will be coming again.

You will not be disappointed with the accommodation of this quaint little cottage on the Oregon Coast. It has everything you need for your stay including the sound of the ocean and access to the beach. The claw-foot bathtub is nostalgic and deep enough for a luxurious soak. It has a full-size refrigerator to house the makings for homemade meals, beverages and fresh produce. It was a lovely escape that did not lack a good book or a way to watch a good movie. For us it was PERFECT!!

This was a weekend away with my wife and it couldn't have been better! Great location, excellent access to the beach, and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet life. OK, we watched a little football, too ;) But just what we were looking for! Thanks for a great visit!!
Manager response:
Thanks for sharing your review! There is nothing wrong with mixing a little football into your vacation!

Lovely, everything as described except for two things: 1) bath didn't plug, so it was just a shower. 2) special firelogs not provided (wood not allowed), but I thought they were so didn't bring any (they are in the picture). Vacasa person was not able to help.

The curtains are very thin, and the house faces the neighbor's (owner's?) house (that house is what is between this rental and the beach). Their porch light is extremely bright. If they turned it off I would have left the doors open and just enjoyed the ocean sounds. But the light was so bright I had to shut the curtains, and it kind of helped.

I was really looking forward to fires, baths, and privacy during my personal retreat, but aside from those things it was a great little house and the beach there is beautiful and private.

This was a great experience for me, it was so relaxing and quiet. We were lucky to have good weather the whole time we there and it was great to be able to bring our dog along to enjoy our time together. I will be back, in fact I scheduled another trip before I even left. This place is great for a couple's weekend of calm quiet.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was fantastic and put us to sleep quickly after a long day of exploring. Neighbors were friendly, house was clean, the home exceeded our expectations. The only thing I would change (if it were my home) is the location of the bed to change the view of the neighboring homes to a view of the sea by placing it along the other wall. Thank you for a lovely, romantic stay. We will be back again.

A wonderful place to relax and unwind. Felt perfectly safe as a single woman. Love the peace and quiet with the soothing background sound of the waves.

We really enjoyed the little cottage at South Beach. it was just the right size for an intimate weekend. The decor brought back fond memories of days gone by. Everything was great from the cottage itself to the views and even the neighbors were good.
Darby B. Aug 2015
This cottage is adorable! We loved the antique touches, the fridge, sink, clawfoot tub, record player. It is very close to the beach (about a 1/4 mile walk). We loved our stay here and would recommend it for anyone!

Cute, cozy cottage with great views of the ocean. Perfect get-away for 2 people. Quiet area, and the sound of the waves was constant and soothing.
Would definitely like to come back!

My daughter and I stayed here after my husband passed away. A safe harbour in a storm. Quiet, peaceful and lovely surroundings. Vintage charm and homey comfort. We will return again.
Deb B. May 2015
This is the perfect place if you love peace, quiet and the ocean. I was there alone and felt completely safe. The cottage was very comfortable, and they provided most everything I needed. Bring along cooking oil of some sort, but there were plenty of pans, dishes etc. It would also be a romantic get away for two. I would highly recommend this property! Just far enough away from town to be quiet, but close to everything you would like to do. There are also at least two rabbits living close by, and there were two deer in the "yard" to greet me when I arrived. Wonderful.....

This cottage is perfect for two. There is beach access just out the door, if you can handle a steep trail. The beach couldn't be much closer, dogs are welcome, and there is a great bathtub. In addition to all this, the cottage is decorated tastefully and not full of tick-tack and uncomfortable furniture. The view is great, but there is a big house in front of the cottage. Other than that, the only downside is the tiny kitchen. Overall I'd recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet and small spot next to the beach.
