Loved the house - clean, comfortable, and spacious! Location was quiet and secluded. Planned to ski all four days - but due to weather on two days, had a great time hiking, sledding and snow boarding on the local trails right outside the cabin. Our dog had the time of his life - running free, off leash with no one in sight.

We had a wonderful time. Cabin was great, especially with pond. The caretaker Jerry is fantastic. He answered all our questions. The trail Jerry cut to see the sunset was great. We will definitely rent the cabin again,

Great stay! The place was very clean and well maintained. Jerry was super helpful and the property was a dream! There are plenty of hiking trails with beautiful views close by. This is the second time we rented this place and we are coming back next year too!

My family and I stayed here for a week over winter break and this was without a doubt our favorite house rental ever!! This cabin is truly something special inside and out, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice getaway. The only concern we had going into our rental were past reports of mice in the house, however this was not an issue at all for us and we didn’t see a single mice or dropping the entire stay. (Just be sure to keep all food in the fridge and in the sealed bins they provide.) This house is cozy, elegant and comfortable - 30 minutes from Mad River Glen and 40 from Sugarbush. During the winter time, it is at the end of Lincoln Gap Road so there are ample and beautiful trails nearby for hiking, sledding, and cross country skiing. Internet is great, everything you need is there, and it was all incredibly clean. Lastly, huge thanks to Jerry the caretaker for his hospitality and dedication!! We can’t wait to come back to this house!

The home was everything we needed and wanted for a sibling retreat. The well-appointed kitchen supported our cooking and baking plans, the dining room table was a cozy place to play games and the living room fireplace warmed our hearts. The outdoor space is inviting from the first steps out the door to the miles of hiking trails and snowmobile trails that are nearby. At the end of the day, the comfortable beds, good pillows and soft linens were perfect. Already planning our next trip in a new season.

Great experience at this location. House is well appointed, stays warm and has good internet and other extra amenities for a fun stay. The mice described in other reviews are certainly present but there are provided dry storage tubs and ultrasonic deterrents that had us mostly mouse free during the entire stay. Nice trails wrapping around the property itself that were very nice to walk through daily and the dogs loved it. Jerry, the caretaker, is a real nice guy and very helpful. One small piece of feedback would be to update the kitchen fridge if possible as well as replacing/refinishing the pool cues in the lower level. We plan to be back next year!

This was a wonderful vacation! The owner and/or caretaker took great care of the property and us. There were well maintained trails on the property, and the little pond was a beautiful sight. There was plenty of wood for the outdoor pit, and we spent a lot of time there enjoying the fire and the nature. We also fished in the pond. However, there 2 items that made me lower the rating a from a perfect 5 stars to 4: there were mouse droppings in the kitchen, we had to take special care every day not to leave any food out, and we had to take all the garbage out before we went to bed every night. There were good instructions, and plastic bins for provided. There were also a couple bee/wasps nests by the bedroom window and in some of the porch furniture and one of us got stung inside the bedroom. The bathroom drains were not functioning very well either.
Overall, if you love the outdoors and can appreciate an outdoorsy lifestyle surrounded by breathtaking sights, this is the place for you! We definitely want to come back.
Manager response:
Hi, Mihaela Carla! We are delighted you enjoyed your time at 'This is it.' The drains have been unclogged by our maintenance staff, and the bees have been taken care of. Thank you for staying with us!

We had a great time here, the property is beautiful, lots of land to hike around. The pond was great, we would sit on the porch and watch the fish jump and hear the frogs. Once or twice a day someone would stop at the end of the driveway to take a picture of the place, it makes quite a statement when you see it from the road. The house is plenty big enough, comfortable and nicely furnished. We met Jerry the caretaker and he was full of information and a real nice guy. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would love to come back!

The home and property come as advertised in the pictures and virtual tour. The pond is great, lots of frogs and other critters and the water seemed to be continually moving to keep things fresh and clear. We brought a small inflatable row boat and had a great time on the water. There are also nice, well marked walking trails that head into the woods, along a brook and then back onto the property, which were perfect for easy nature walks with dogs and kids.

The house is equipped with all you would need in the kitchen, there are 3 different coffee makers to choose from which gives you an idea of how accommodating it is. Wifi service at the house was great, especially considering the location. The drive from VT-100 up Lincoln Gap Road is 5 miles and gets pretty tight, steep and winding. Beautiful drive but a bit daunting for those not used to that type of terrain. Worth it for all the space to spread out in and the great views.

We ranged in age from 6 to 76 and all loved the cabin and had a great time.

While everything looked clean at first glance, there were signs that some things were not properly cleaned. To be fair, that might be a consequence of the house being vacant for a long period of time due to the pandemic.

The most concerning issue were mice. We saw mice every day around sunset. Importantly, mice were not confined to a particular location in the house, but they were present in several areas such as living room, dinning room, kitchen, and bedrooms. Every morning we noticed mice droppings in the kitchen and sometimes in bedrooms (which was definitely concerning). In one instance, the droppings appeared on a bed only a few minutes after its occupants had left it. We contacted Jerry (the person who gave us the keys) but he did not solve the problem; according to him, mice were a lost battle. While we understand that the property is located in a rural area, the number of mice we saw is definitely a sign of big mice problem.

Aside from not helping with the mice issue, Jerry was actually incredibly helpful. He gave us a lot of information regarding the surrounding areas, things to do, and gave us some toys for the pond. He even came all the way one day to help us charge the car battery!
Manager response:
We appreciate your feedback and apologize mice were such a nuisance. In Vermont, mice are a struggle in almost every single home, but we will look into getting an exterminator to assist us in controlling the situation. Our cleaning contractor has been advised of your concern regarding the cleanliness. Thank you!
