Updated, dog-friendly cottage with outdoor firepit, three blocks from the beach

From the red front door to the outdoor firepit, this dog-friendly Gearhart cottage for four is a great spot for a family or friend coast getaway.

The location of this home is unique and offers the best of Gearhart. Shops and eateries are within walking distance (including the local favorite Pacific Way Bakery & Cafe), and fun activities like playing on the beach and playing a game of doubles on the public tennis courts are close by as well. The beach is about a three-block walk away, so you won't waste much time getting to the sand.

A perfect blend of traditional beach house and modern decor create an atmosphere that can't be beat. The fenced backyard is a nice place to relax after a day out and about. Light the firepit and roast s'mores while the dogs and kids run around. Please note that there is a nightly pet fee.

Gather the group in the living room to cozy up on the plush sofas for a movie night on the large flatscreen TV. Cable is provided so you won't miss your favorite shows.

Across the room is a full kitchen with major and small appliances (coffeemaker, toaster, blender, microwave, mixer, and dishwasher included) for tasty at-home meals. A breakfast bar with two chairs sits off the butcher block island and a small bistro table for two is nearby as well.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed and a gorgeous in-room clawfoot tub next to the sink and toilet. Two twin-size beds occupy the second bedroom and a 3/4 bathroom with a large stand-alone shower is just off the hallway.

Feel free to stay at this fresh vacation rental as long as you like and have peace of mind knowing clean clothes for tomorrow's activities using the washer and dryer.

Head down to Gearhart Ocean State Park to beachcomb, take a relaxing stroll, and even build sandcastles on the rare, yet divine, sunny days. Play tennis, reserve a tee time at Gearhart Golf Links, and try out glass-blowing. Go hiking and horseback riding, or take a trip south a couple miles to Seaside or about 10 miles down to Cannon Beach.

From whale watching to staying in on a rainy day, your stay at this dog-friendly Oregon home will be one for the books. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

We stayed two nights during an "atmospheric river" event and we were very comfortable despite the weather. I especially liked the fenced yard so our dog could go outside while I watched out the window - that is rare in a vacation rental.
Christine&Jeffrey R. Oct 2021
Accommodations were very nice for my husband and I and our little dog. Comfortable bed, great TV (for rainy days), loved the electric fireplace and the clawfoot tub. Home was clean and well stocked for cooking meals. Good location, enjoyed walking to the beach most days while there. Vacasa kept in touch well and was very professional. Having the Ridge path so close was wonderful, loved walking it daily. Would love to stay again as it's a very comfy and welcoming home.
Cheryl G. Sep 2021
Kitchen stocked nicely. Clean. Near enough to beach to walk. Patio and firepit were nice for outside.
benjamin S. Aug 2021
Nice house with great yard and well equipped kitchen with bbq. Quiet street we had a really nice time.

We enjoyed our stay in the Gearhart Cottage North--it was closer to where other family was staying so we could walk everywhere. It was also close to the newly discovered Ridge Path that runs through Gearhart---something we discovered after many years coming here! The property has a huge back yard with a fire pit and some great Adironback chairs--great for sitting in and enjoying our morning coffee and for our dog to explore! The Master bedroom has great storage closets and the bed is really comfortable. It is a little funky to have the toilet in the room with no screen or divider--my husband and I have been married a long time but still! The kitchen was very well equipped and they did supply laundry pods (one guest suggested we bring our own so I did) for the washer. We would love to come back!
Monica M. Jul 2021
The house was very clean and had a big back yard for our dog
Kendal H. Jun 2021
What a fabulous place to spend a week at the beach. Dog and humans cannot wait to come back!
Melanie W. Jun 2021
Great little cottage near the beach in Gearhart. It’s quiet, at the end of a dead end in a residential neighborhood. It’s had recent updates but it’s for sure an older home. The kitchen is equipped with most things needed to make a meal (no corkscrew or bottle opener) and bathrooms are nice with great water pressure.

The outside trash was half full, who knows when it was last emptied. Laundry was nice but bring your own laundry soap.

Biggest issue is bedding. This location is perfect for a feather comforter but only blankets and well-used bedspreads are offered.

If Seaside is your destination it’s perfect. We spent most of our time further south and spent a ton of time in the car.

Twin bed room is quite chilly (space heaters blew the circuit) even in June. Floor is sloped so don’t play marbles in this room.

Overall a nice quiet, clean home close to the beach.
Manager response:

We found the house to be very relaxing. The master bedroom had a comfy bed (though the bedding could use some updating) and the neighborhood was really quiet. Having a washer/dryer on site was great.

Please provide a tea kettle and wine bottle corkscrew! We couldn’t find either.

Unfortunately the ice cream shop was closed for a week and the bakery had a long line every time we checked for 2 days and then shut on our 3rd day.

The beach is a short walk away and was quite empty — so much space to ourselves!

A guide for operating the tv would be helpful. We had to plug in cables and eventually got it working.

Overall the house worked out well for our first travel since the pandemic began!
suzanne t. Apr 2021
This is the perfect house for a family traveling with their dog(s). The yard is big and fenced and it is a short walk to the beach. We have rented this house multiple times and would go back again.
Thomas S. Mar 2021
We had the best time! A very cute clean home close to the beach but also feels secluded. We would love to stay here again.
Karen B. Feb 2021
This was a delightful place to have a few days away from it all. The house was clean, well stocked and in a perfect location. I would stay here again.
Marcia M. Nov 2020
The house was.perfect, situated at the end of the road. The first day we woke up to a heard of elk grazing across the street. It was a blustery two days but the house was cozy. I'd love to stay again.
Theresa A. Nov 2020
So close to the beach! Great quiet neighborhood and the cottage is so comfortable. Dogs enjoyed the large fenced yard. The bakery two blocks away is delicious. Great place for a weekend get away.
Erika Y. Oct 2020
We loved we were only a couple minutes walk from the main street with a bakery and an ice cream shop and only a little bit further of a walk to the sand dunes and ocean! The proximity and slower pace of the town was exactly what we were looking for in our vacation and there are plenty of restaurant options nearby (and in nearby Seaside just down 101). There are several state parks within easy driving distance to explore too. Our dog loved coming on vacation with us and has been so tired since we returned home. The yard is fully fenced but is also next to the trail leading to city hall/bakery etc. so there are occasional people (and dogs) walking by. We will definitely consider vacationing here again.
Sherry F. Oct 2020
We have stayed at this cottage for several years and we love it. It is an easy walk to the beach, close to the bakery and restaurant. A fenced yard is perfect for our Golden, Jackson. The firepit is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine.
Michael G. Aug 2020
Big yard for dogs * nice bbq deck * great fire pit * kitchen island was cool * master bedroom bed is very comfortable * tucked away off main roads, minimal traffic.
Kathleen R. Jul 2020
We had a great time at this House.
A very friendly user,all amenities,well decorated,quite location.
We will be back!!!
Melina B. Jun 2020
Overall, we had a great stay. Mostly the low rating is because Vacasa's service was terrible. We were given incorrect information on the lockbox code and took hours of being on hold for customer service to get the correct code. Upon entry, the floors were very dirty. The fireplace also didn't work. The electrical plug was very corroded making the unit inoperable. Disappointing.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to share your feedback. The lockbox issue has been corrected, the fireplace is now working, and we have spoken with housekeeping about the floors. We do hope to have a chance to impress you in the future!
Melina B. Feb 2020
We really enjoyed our stay in this adorable home. The fenced yard was a huge plus! So nice having a cafe just around the corner too. We will definitely be back.
Patricia M. Jan 2020
A clean and comfortable cottage for our 47th anniversary celebration with dear friends.
Cristi F. Jan 2020
This is a nice cottage and very clean. It is comfortable, newly remodeled with nice furnishings. It’s perfect for 2 adults or a small or young family. Not good for 2 couples. It has 1 King bed & 2 twin beds. Good amount of space in the house & large yard. The WiFi was excellent. It is a great location for both Seaside & Astoria. We would recommend it for most couples.

There are some very odd things about this house however. The master bedroom has a full bathroom inside the room. The toilet has a short partition but it is not in any way secluded. You can easily see the person sitting on the toilet from the bed. A pocket door or curtain or screen of some kind would go a long way toward some privacy. Seriously who puts a toilet in the same room as your bed? There was a standing agreement of no No. 2’s in the bedroom and it basically only got used if the other bathroom is occupied. Secondly there really isn’t a dining table. There is a fold out table behind the love seat and chairs that are down in the laundry room but there isn’t an actual dining table with chairs just a bar with two places to sit. For people who like to sit at a table and eat together this does not work.

We also had some nit picky issues with the home. The laundry room is where the chairs are stored and it’s thru the second bedroom with the twin beds. This is one of the reasons this wouldn’t be a great house for couples who wanted privacy.

The kitchen is under furnished. Don’t expect to do a lot of cooking in this house. We did make breakfasts but it didn’t have everything we needed to make a birthday cake. Not everyone cares about this but we like to cook when we travel so we’re not eating out all the time.

The fireplace didn’t work at all. It has a remote that beeped when we hit the buttons but the fire never came on.

The entrance is very uneven with old brick steps and uneven paving stones leading up to the stairs. Be VERY careful when it is wet and dark. The round pavers are a couple of inches above the ground and it’s very difficult to know where to step. Especially if the porch light is behind you.

Over all we had a nice stay in this house. We are likely to return but honestly if it was between this house and another with a private bathroom for the same price, we would probably choose the one with the toilet behind a door.
Manager response:
Hi, Cristi! The master bedroom was designed to have the bathroom in the open as pictured online. We have verified the kitchen has adequate utensils and cooking supplies. The fireplace has been repaired, and we do apologize it was out for your stay. Thank you!
Amy S. Sep 2019
We loved our stay. The house is clean, comfortable, and close to the beach. Gearhart is wonderful! I will be back! Amy
Nadine R. May 2019
Pros-The home was a nice size, beds were comfortable, kitchen had enough utensils and dishes. Fenced yard was nice if we were to bring pets.
Cons-no instructions-we froze the whole time because we couldn’t find the thermostat. There was a fireplace but no idea how to run it. We finally just went to bed to warm up. The dishwasher hadn’t been emptied from the last guests. Also please be aware one bathroom is part of the bedroom. You can see the toilet from the bed. Not an issue for me as I had the bedroom to myself.
Vanessa S. May 2019
We really enjoyed our stay in this home! It was very conveniently located just outside of Seaside on a very quiet, dead-end street with beach access only a short drive away. The home was clean and comfortable, and the yard is perfect for dogs. We would definitely stay here again.
Connie N. Apr 2019
We enjoyed the home. Nice and quiet other than the Elk bugling right out the window a couple of times.
Tina P. Apr 2019
Clean and well stocked
Angela S. Apr 2019

Brian M. Oct 2018
Beautiful home...all the amenities...comfortable. So glad I searched on hometogo for this home. We Loved it!
Marlene M. Oct 2018
The location was great for us as we were driving to the convention ctr in Seaside.
The house was in a private location and the fenced yard was great for the dog.
Jim B. Sep 2018
House was clean, well equipped and in a great quiet neighborhood. The fenced yard was perfect for the dog. Excitement came when a large herd of elk wandered through the area
Debbie H. Sep 2018
Location is perfect, dead end street and very quiet.
Fenced yard was great & they had dog dishes and treats under the sink!
As is typical with house rentals, the kitchen supplies were minimal - plastic plates and bowls - would be nice to have actual dishes - but that is a minor issue. House was clean and comfortable for 3 adults.
Don K. Sep 2018
We enjoyed our stay and will be back !
Judy M. Aug 2018
The cottage welcoming and comfortable. We loved the fenced yard and the firepit in the back yard. We used the propane grill our first night. Thank you fir opening up your sweet home to us!
Elaine T. Aug 2018
We loved the peace and quietness. It was nice to send our dog Ellie outside in the large fenced in backyard. The only thing missing was a can opener for her dog food. I would highly recommend this place!
Pam P. Aug 2018
clean, tidy, close to town, good for dogs with fenced back yard
Loyceta M. Aug 2018
Perfect location and home for us. Thank you
Gretchen L. Jun 2018
Great home on the coast for a couple or small family. We loved watching World Cup soccer on the big screen and long walks on the beach and ridge trail. Evenings were fun to hang out in the huge yard, grill dinner and cook s’mores over the fire pit. We’ll definitely rent this house again.
Michele S. Jun 2018
Home was clean, good location and it had a nice fenced yard. Was surprised to find plastic plates and miss matched glasses/cups. No bowls so the kids could eat cereal in the morning, had to go buy paper ones. Hotels with kitchens even have a set of dishware for there guests.
Manager response:
We apologize for the sub-par kitchen inventory and will be addressing it as quickly as possible. Thank you!
Jasmine C. Jun 2018
Loved how close we were to the beach and how we were able to bring our 2 dogs knowing was fully fenced so they wouldn't run off!!! Enjoyed the lovely fire pit and grill which enjoyed the yummy steaks. Me as a woman LOVED the tub made sure went into town to buy a fizzy ball to take a nice lavender bath in💗💗we had a great time and having Cannon Beach only 20min away made it all worthwhile as well. We definitely will be back again next Summer love the Oregon coast. Thank you for sharing your home. Only downfall was not enough garbage bags especially for a 4 night stay other then that was great.
Sherie M. May 2018
Plenty of room inside and out. Enjoyed the deck and yard. Gas fireplace warmed the comfy living room nicely, Comfy beds. Clean & tidy. Only negative observation is stones near entrance walkway were kind of a tripping hazard. All else was great!
Dawn B. May 2018
Absolutely loved the house! Bed was super comfortable and made use of the soaking tub. We also loved soaking up the sun on the back porch and riding our bikes on the beach. Thank you so much for the great accommodations. Looking forward to coming back next year.
Sherry F. May 2018
We love staying at this cottage with our dog...convenient to the beach, great backyard...easy walk to town.

Barbara P. May 2018
Very nice home close to the beach. It had everything we needed. Loved the fireplace and big t.v.
Karen G. Apr 2018
This is the perfect house to spend a few days in to relax and do absolutely nothing! Except maybe read, play games, take a walk on the beach, or read a book. Very well equipped.
Shasta J. Feb 2018
Awesome home and very comfortable
Melissa S. Feb 2018
We loved this little cottage in the heart of Gearhart! The fenced-in yard allowed us to bring our greyhounds without worrying about them running off! They loved running and playing in the surprise snow we got.

Inside, the fireplace and bath made for a dreamy, totally relaxing time. The full kitchen allowed us to cook our own food when we wanted to. With a 10 minute walk to the beach, we went each day and took in the views. The beach was pretty quiet in the winter, and we loved having it to ourselves! And with Seaside only a 10 minute drive, we got our touristy fix there.

This was the perfect little escape from reality, and we will definitely be back!
Colleen N. Feb 2018
Enjoyed our stay here so close to center, trails, beach and elk watching.
Josef D. Jan 2018
My wife and I love the Oregon coast and have vacationed there many times. Each time we stay, we rent a place like this. This particular rental was the best one by far.
Brian B. Jan 2018
We had a great time in Gearhart. Very nice house that made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.
Daniel H. Dec 2017
This is a special little place; cozy, comfy and well-appointed. The rental process was seamless and wonderfully flexible as to our needs. Highly Recommend. Dan Hamilton, Seaside, OR
Rachael F. Dec 2017
The house was quite comfortable, however, because they allow dogs and don't deep clean in-between, there was quite a bit of dog hair in the rugs and the couches smelled like moth balls. If these two things can be fixed, it would have been much more enjoyable.

Also, having a bathroom in the main bedroom with no door on the toilet area was awkward. For this reason, we didn't really use this bathroom and took turns using the other one.
Manager response:
We appreciate receiving this feedback. We have fully vacuumed the furniture and swept under and around all furnishings as well. Air freshener has been provided to help eliminate any odors. Thank you!
Linda S. Dec 2017
I came with my dogs for a weekend getaway and the cottage was perfect. The walk to the beach was perfect. The elk herd came for breakfast which was an added treat. The house had everything I needed and I was able to get some work done while I was there. I will definitely be back!
Sherry F. Nov 2017
We were in Gearhart for a business meeting and brought our dogs. The home was charming and clean, the location was perfect just a few blocks from the beach. The highlight of our stay was we woke one morning to the Gearhart Elk herd in the front and side yard...it was so awesome. Would absolutely recommend this home and will stay again.

Sherry
Marsha M. Oct 2017
This house was great for two adults and our dogs. It was nice to have a fenced yard, and there were great walking paths through town, and fairly close access to the beach. The house was clean and had interesting details.
Sally A. Oct 2017
Located 2 short blocks from the heart of Gearhart, and a fair distance to the beach, this cute, cozy cottage has it all! It is so welcoming and comfortable we almost didn’t want to leave at the end of our three week visit . It has been cleverly updated but still retains the charm and antiquity of its era. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. The bed in the master is very comfortable and the wardrobes provide ample space for one’s belongings. The master bath is actually in the room, and the freestanding tub is the focal point.
There is a guest bedroom with two twin beds, a laundry room and a beautifully updated bathroom with shower.
The kitchen opens out to a large deck with table, chairs and a very nice propane bar-b-q where we spent afternoons enjoying the large, fenced yard and the sunshine and fresh air. We will be back next year!!!
Kate B. Aug 2017
We had the most perfect weekend. The house was great for our two dogs and our family. We had a fire in the outdoor firepit and the dogs loved the big yard. We walked to the beach and to dinner. The house was clean and in great condition. We'll be back!
Thomas T. Aug 2017
Close to the beach, well appointed, has a fenced yard for the dog.
Joan B. Aug 2017
Perfect, cute & immaculate house in Gearhart.

Loved that it was on a quiet street, but within walking distance of the beach and a great little bakery. Could hear a donkey off in the distance on some mornings which was lovely!

Was here for 3 nights with teenage daughter and friend.

Master bedroom/bath is quirky but cool. Beds are super comfortable and the house had everything we needed.

Would definitely stay again!
David P. Jul 2017
The home is pretty. Kind of unique with the whole open bathroom in the master bedroom. Just a couple of complaints. The neighbor across the street played some talk radio as loud as possible at about 7am in the morning. Woke up the whole house including the 1 year old. They were inside with all the windows open just blaring their radio.

Walk to the beach was suppose to be 3 blocks. That's a bit deceiving. The walk to the beach entrance was 3 blocks away, but the beach itself was another half mile walk at least.

Those 2 problems is why I settled on a 3 star rating.
Jean B. Jul 2017
2 bd 2Bath, private but not scary secluded, perfect getaway. Drive to nearest beach access or walk approx 4 blocks to a not crowded perfect part of the Oregon Coast! Dinner at the Macminnimans one mile away in Gearhart! Nice fire pit for stargazing and night campfires. E rated windows with screens keep out heat! A lovely, immaculate, place to have a great vacation! We will be back!
Sharon C. Jun 2017
This is a great little house and perfect with pets because of the fenced yard. It's within walking distance to the cute town of Gearhart. The house is well supplied with kitchen needs, towels and other amenities. We will return.
