Make Livingston your next getaway

Sitting at the northern mouth of Paradise Valley where the Yellowstone River breaks free of the mountains, Livingston is one of Montana's most authentic and compelling small cities. Founded by the railroad in 1882 as the original gateway to Yellowstone, this town of artists, anglers, and adventurers has retained a raw Western character that draws writers, fly fishers, and outdoor seekers from around the world — all with Yellowstone National Park just 55 miles south.

We enjoyed the home. It was well equipped and had everything we needed to cook a meal at home.

This was a great place to stay!! The views from our comfy chairs on the porch were amazing! The mattresses, bedding, and linens were all high quality. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things you may need to cook a meal, and had plenty of room for more than one. Fire extinguishers, large first aid kit, extra bathroom supplies were all there if you needed them. There were even fresh flowers and candies to welcome us in. Ken even stopped by when we were outside to check to see if everything was ok and if there was something we needed. This is a definite place for us to stay again when we are in this beautiful area!!

What you'll love about Livingston

The Yellowstone—the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48 states—runs right through town, offering some of the finest cutthroat, brown, and rainbow trout fishing in America.

The 55-mile drive south from Livingston through Paradise Valley to Yellowstone's North Entrance is one of America's great scenic corridors. Meanwhile, Livingston's brick downtown, lined with art galleries, Western saloons, and locally owned restaurants, preserves an authentic 1880s railroad-town character that's genuinely rare in today's mountain West.

Local tips

Paradise Valley, blue-ribbon trout, and raw Western character

Drive at dawn, when the Absaroka peaks catch first light and mule deer step through the river fog — that's the moment Livingston earns its reputation. Stay long enough for Chico Hot Springs on a clear night, and you'll understand why people move here and never leave.
