• Fall in Paradise Valley (September–October) is spectacular for wildlife, foliage, and uncrowded Yellowstone visits.
• Livingston can be extremely windy. It holds some of the wind speed records in Montana, so pack accordingly.
• Chico Hot Springs is enormously popular. Reserve a table at the restaurant and a room well in advance.
• Gardiner (Yellowstone's North Entrance) is 55 miles south, the only year-round vehicle entrance to the park.
• Bozeman is 28 miles west with the nearest major airport (BZN), the most common arrival point.
• Paradise Valley East River Road offers a quieter, more scenic alternative to Highway 89 for the drive south.
• Bears are common in Paradise Valley and the surrounding wilderness. Always carry bear spray.
• The Fourth of July rodeo in Livingston is a classic small-town Montana event worth planning around.
