Learn more about Vacasa Premium Clean >At a mere 60 miles southwest of San José - less than two hours away by car - Jacó is the closest major beach town to the capital. The broad, arc-shaped Playa Jacó sits in the center of the coastal region of Puntarenas, at the convergence of the Gulf of Nicoya and the great Pacific Ocean. You'll be just six miles north of Playa Hermosa, six miles south of Playa Herradura, and 13 miles south of Carara National Park.
Outdoor activities abound in Jacó, as visitors easily find opportunities for ATV tours, boating, kayaking, horseback riding, and deep sea fishing. But this laid-back resort town is all about the beach, whether you're building sandcastles, soaking in the sun, or paddling out to catch seven-foot waves.
The clean, calm, and scenic Playa Jacó is a favorite among sandcastle builders and sunbathers, whereas Playa Herradura to the north offers a more mountainous and tranquil landscape, as well as a 200-slip marina and 18-hole golf course. Perhaps the most famous beach among surfers, though, is Playa Hermosa to the south, which has hosted International Quicksilver Championships and the International Surfing Association World Surfing Games.
After a day on the sand, join the rest of the beach-goers and backpackers at Jacó's many bars and restaurants. You'll find the freshest fish tacos at the Taco Bar, a constantly changing menu of international cuisine at Lemon Zest, and one of the most scenic settings for sunset cocktails at El Hicaco.
Thanks to their convenient position on the central Pacific coast, our Jacó condo rentals provide visitors with easy access to some of Costa Rica's most celebrated national parks.
Head 20 miles north to reach Carara National Park, where you can watch crocodiles from the Tárcoles River Bridge or observe a thriving population of wild scarlet macaws. You could also drive 49 miles southeast to Manuel Antonio National Park, where visitors can explore tropical forests and white sand beaches, admire 184 species of birds, and glimpse up to 109 species of mammals that include howler monkeys, endangered squirrel monkeys, and three-toed sloths.
Enjoy one of the most scenic landscapes in all of Central America. Our Jacó vacation rentals will bring your tropical dreams to life.
