The beach is beautiful. The upstairs patio is where we spent a lot of time. We made a number of meals in the well stocked kitchen. The Mexican decor was pretty.

Where is Baja California Sur?

Surrounded by the Gulf of California on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, Baja California Sur is on the southern half of a peninsula in the northwest corner of Mexico - directly south of the U.S. state of California. On the southern edge, Cabo San Lucas is one of the most popular tropical destinations in all of Mexico, while the state's capital, La Paz, offers amazing cultural attractions and historic architecture.

Baja California Sur Activities

Whether you're looking for a place to relax on the beach or a fun adventure in the city, Baja California Sur offers plenty of great activities. If water sports are up your alley, consider snorkeling or scuba diving in one of the scenic reef areas along the coast - there's lots of local wildlife to explore!

This area is also known for its gray whale population - they grace the waters surrounding the region every winter. Simply head to one of the popular viewing spots at Bahía Magdalena Natural Reserve, San Ignacio Lagoon, or the Soledad and Ojo de Liebre estuaries for an unforgettable experience.

For local beachside restaurants, amenities, shopping, and of course, nightlife, nothing beats Cabo San Lucas. This infamous resort town has it all, from family-friendly activities to fun bars and restaurants.

Windsurfing, fishing, mountain biking, and hiking are just some of the outdoor recreation available when you stay at one of our Baja California Sur vacation rentals. Choose from several parks and reserves, like the El Vizcaíno Biospshere Reserve, which has lagoons, mangrove swamps, and a scenic desert.

Baja California Sur Excursions

If you're looking for history and beautiful architecture, Baja California Sur features a rich cultural background and several historic cities. Head to region's largest city and capital, La Paz, for both cultural and natural attractions. The city plays host to a variety of cool festivals, including the annual Carnival every February.

For colonial and mission-style architecture, the city of Loreto further north features lots of interesting history. With missions built by the Jesuits, and a history dating back to the 17th century, explore the beautiful and rich history throughout Baja California Sur.

On the southern edge of the peninsula by San José del Cabo, Cabo Pulmo National Park is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts and scuba divers. This protected area features undeveloped desert and a breathtaking mountain range, all set along pristine beaches and a shallow bay that holds the only hard coral reef in North America.

Whether you stay in Baja California Sur or on the other side of the country in beautiful Quintana Roo, Mexico offers a luxurious and affordable place to escape. Take a trip and stay at one of our Baja California Sur vacation rentals for an unforgettable tropical retreat.
