Perfectly low key setting with a spectacular rooftop view of the Sea of Cortez for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Great location within short walking distance to restaurants, a little general market, and a cute coffee shop.

Vibe Fresh and modern, interlaced with traces of beach vacation and desert, perfectly matched to the Loreto area. Stayed as part of a family vacation (4 people), with some of us pursuing PADI scuba certification. Location Towards the north side of town, with good proximity to the Malecon (~town center) and dive shops (10~15min walk), and a ~3 block walk to the beach. Room Beautiful decor. Very comfortable overall. Squeaky clean. Good sleep quality (comfortable bed/sheets, blackout curtains), though some street noise. Twin beds are on the shorter side. Nice, spacious bathrooms, with a solid set of amenities. Solid kitchen setup (refrigerator, blender, kitchenware), with more staples provided than expected. Comfortable “private” patios outside each room area. An absolute pleasure to hang out in with the family. View From under the rooftop palapa, you can see a wonderful sunrise view over the gulf, and sunset view of the mountains. Facilities Two primary communal areas. Outdoor grill and food prep area, adjacent to inviting water in a blue-bottomed pool (~4ft depth throughout) lined by lounge chairs and with pull-out overhead shades, and palapa-covered dining table and hot tub (~4 people). Rooftop palapa with two comfortable hanging chairs, a large dining table, an exercise bike, and (single) bathroom. Gated, covered parking. Food/drink Onsite honor bar, with soft drinks, liquor, and regional (macro) brews. Staff Jaime (manager/ownership team) was friendly and helpful; fluent in English and Spanish. Other folks were onsite most days quietly performing maintenance. Value for price Self-catered luxury. Attention to detail throughout the property design and upkeep. Each member of my family mentioned that they’d definitely want to return.

The modern apartment was spacious with high ceilings, super clean and had great amenities. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large. There were balconies off the living and bedroom with table and chairs to relax in while the sliding glass doors created light and bright spaces. There was a beautiful roof top deck as well as a lovely pool equipped with full outdoor kitchen. The grounds were secure and there was parking on the premises. Bicycles were free to use and only a five minute ride to the center of town or just a 10 minute walk.

Where is Loreto?

Situated in a scenic cove overlooking the Sea of Cortez, the small city of Loreto is on Mexico's Baja California peninsula, about 315 miles north of Cabo San Lucas. The Sierra de la Giganta mountain range provides a stunning backdrop, filled with outstanding outdoor recreation and historic archeological cave sites.

With an amazing location right on the beach, Loreto offers a perfect mix of historic colonial architecture and ocean activities. Whether you're looking for relaxing sandy beaches or adventurous diving expeditions, this laid-back and richly cultured town has something for everyone. Check out laid-back Loreto Bay for even more options.

Culture & History in Loreto

As the first Spanish colonial settlement on the Baja Peninsula, Loreto was originally founded in 1697 by Jesuit missionaries. Today, the town features historic colonial buildings, including the Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto, a beautiful 17th-century church.

Enjoy an inviting, small-town feel as you immerse yourself in local Mexican life. The streets of Loreto are often filled with festivals and parades - most importantly the Feast of Our Lady of Loreto. This annual festival is held every September in honor of the city's patron saint, featuring lots of fun activities, pilgrims and locals from around the area, and several sports tournaments to commemorate the occasion.

For an unforgettable day trip, head out to the Sierra la Giganta mountain range about nine miles from the city. You'll be able to explore amazing caves and notable archaeological sites with ancient abstract figures and cave paintings.
