About Puerto Varas

Puerto Varas, also known as the "City of Roses," is a small, scenic city located in the Los Lagos region of Southern Chile. In Puerto Varas, you'll be about 18 kilometers from the larger city of Puerto Montt, which is the capital of Chile's Llanquihue Province.

This beautiful city boasts stunning scenery, historic architecture, and an abundance of nearby natural sights. With a prime location on the shores of Llanquihue Lake, the second largest lake in Chile, the pristine blue waters provide a breathtaking backdrop for the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes in the distance. A stay in Puerto Varas will be a different experience altogether from one in the larger city of Santiago or the coastal town of Valparaíso, and bustling Viña del Mar - more laid-back and closer to nature.

Puerto Varas has a noteworthy history dating back to the mid-1800s when German immigrants settled in the area. As a result, this city (and many of the other small towns surrounding the lake) feature historic colonial architecture and delicious, German-influenced cuisine. When you stay in one of our lovely vacation rentals, you'll have easy access to both compelling history and amazing outdoor recreation.
