Spacious, riverfront lodge with beach access, private hot tub & forest views!
Sited on a picturesque bend in a shady, wooded spot, with a short path down to a quiet beach, and directly across from a waterfall and 20-foot deep swimming hole, this Washougal River vacation rental is a true Columbia Gorge retreat.
You'll find this vintage log home at the end of the lane, beyond an electronic gate. The moment you arrive, you'll be serenaded by the sounds of the river flowing by and the vibrant forest all around. This spacious, charming lodge was hand-built in 1972 and has been lovingly updated to comfortably accommodate up to eight guests. From the dramatic, two-story rock fireplace in the window-walled great room to the view-deck off the queen bedroom, you'll find everything you need for a relaxing getaway.
The lodge is built into the side of a hill, so you'll enter on the upper level, through the carport (covered parking for two vehicles). The entry hall has a place for your coat and shoes - and slippers, if you've forgotten yours (River Bend Lodge is shoe-free!). The main living spaces are on the lower level: great room, dining area, kitchen, master suite, and den/media room.
Straight ahead is one of two small, sky-lit balconies that overlook the great room and add an airy feel to this level. The queen bedroom has a sliding door to a quiet deck where you can sip your morning coffee and gaze at the River, or watch the light change as the sun sets, in a two-person Adirondack chair.
Relax and unwind in the media room, where the sofa/chaise converts to a queen bed, and enjoy the 60-inch plasma TV. Cable TV is not available because the dense trees prevent sighting on a satellite, but there is a Blu-ray player, and the TV has built-in Internet streaming for Netflix, etc.
The outdoors will lure you, though! If the beach and forest aren't enough of a draw, have a game of croquet, or try out the brand-new horseshoe pit. If you venture off the grounds, you can try whitewater rafting or tubing with a local outfitter, or a round of golf at one of several area courses.
You may prefer to just sit by the two-story, native rock, wood-burning fireplace (firewood provided) in the great room, gazing out the panoramic windows at the year-round waterfall and dramatic views of the Washougal River. If the weather doesn't permit being outdoors, a variety of board games offer non-electronic entertainment. But, if you must work (or just want to play on your computer), you'll find a desk and a Bluetooth printer in the smaller of the two sitting areas. Dependable, wireless high-speed internet and a landline will keep you as connected as you want, or need, to be.
When it's time to make dinner for your group, you'll enjoy your time in the spacious, comfortable kitchen. You'll find you'll find everything you need to feed the whole group - right down to a Keurig coffeemaker - with all-new stainless appliances, granite-topped work island, plenty of storage and a great new propane grill right outside the door. Whether sitting at the massive, hand-hewn, black walnut dining table (seats eight), or outside at the over-sized picnic table, everyone can enjoy the beautiful views along with their food.
After dinner, take a luxurious dip in the new hot tub, just outside the great room. Here, from under a generous roof, you'll enjoy unobstructed views of the ancient forest and river all year round. Warm your spa towels in the dryer beforehand!
The lower level also features the master bedroom, with an incredibly comfortable king-size bed. The adjacent bath has double sinks and tub with rainfall showerhead. A door at the end of the bath leads to the laundry room where you'll find a state-of-the-art washer/dryer that can handle your camping gear and sleeping bags as easily as everyday laundry. The laundry room also has its own exterior door, so you don't have to worry about tracking mud and sand through the house!
The surrounding forest is part of a 26-acre family compound that is shared with our own Eva's Cottage, a romantic getaway for two that can be rented together with River Bend Lodge, if your group includes a couple who would like a little extra privacy.
The property includes access to the beach, waterfall, and 20'-deep swimming hole. You can put your kayak or canoe in right from the beach, or watch the river otters catch their dinner.* The beach has no public access, but is shared with guests at adjacent Eva's Cottage, and, from time to time, a few close, trusted, respectful neighbors. Most likely, you'll have it all to yourself, and can swim, wade and sunbathe to your heart's content.
The forest is filled with northwest native plants and includes a large (and rare) stand of old-growth Douglas fir, Western cedar, hemlock and maple; some of which are estimated to be more than 300 years old (this little pocket is unique, since it was never logged). Eva's descendants steward the land and maintain the forest with an eye to future generations' enjoyment. This lodge boasts multiple scenic trails outside that lead through old growth forests. The Blue, White, Yellow, and Red Trails offer glimpses of ancient cedars, wildflowers, and even a traditional and recently restored cabin. Be sure to bring your hiking boots (and for two of the trails, flotation devices)!
You're likely to find deer strolling past the windows, grazing. Many kinds of birds, ducks, geese and other wildlife also call this wonderful spot home. Common visitors include eagles, heron, hawks, and deer. The land surrounding the Cottage and across the river is private and protected. The temperate climate is never too hot or too cold.
The Washougal River is one of only two completely unpolluted rivers in the region. All manner of outdoor activities are close by, yet the setting itself is secluded and free from the noise and distractions of everyday life. Eva's Cottage is a perfect launch pad, with easy, year-round access to hiking, boating, fishing, skiing and more. It River offers fine fishing, whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking as it flows into the mighty Columbia River just a few miles to the south.
For relaxation, quality time with family, or reconnecting with nature, this vintage log cabin is the perfect Columbia Gorge vacation rental!
*Please note that no fishing is permitted here, but there is great fishing a mile downriver, on the other side of the Salmon Falls Bridge. Also, please remember that forest fires are easy to start and very, very hard to put out. Respect the property and help keep it safe by not building fires on the beach, and refrain from smoking anywhere on the property.

This is a wonderful spot, right on the river and magical place for a swim. We had inflatable tires and 'rode the rapids'---really just a little bump but great fun. The cabin is lovely as its enhanced with gorgeous rocks on floor and chimney, not overly rustic and all is well stocked and well equipped. A couple of does come by every evening, a family of racoons are by the water, lots of bird life and 4 very well groomed trails to explore. Our family loved it. Nearby are some fantastic hikes, (Cape Horn and across the Columbia River, tons of waterfall hikes.) We relaxed at nearby lake where we rented a kayak and a couple of paddle boards. The total cost of cabin is expensive but we felt it was worth it.
Beautiful views from the house. Nice little beach to watch the wildlife and the river. Large open kitchen with most everything needed for cooking meals. Easy trials that start right from the yard. Perfect place for a weekend or extended stay.
The property is just beautiful and so peaceful.
This place is just about perfect. The house was great but the setting is really what sets this apart. Beautiful setting next to the river, and there is nothing better than a nice morning soak in the hot tub while listening to the water flow by. House is exceptionally clean and well cared for. Our group loved it and plan on making it an annual tradition.
We brought our kids and grandkids here for three days. The grandkids loved the river. All of us loved the home, amenities and the surroundings. I was able to take a couple of relaxing walks in the woods. It was secluded yet close to tourist events during the day.
Lots of room. Super view. Peaceful. Comfortable. Nature!
Loved this place, the open plan with wonderful views of the river. Private and peaceful with well equipped kitchen. Would definitely like to go back and stay again.
Immersed in beauty and the sound of the river.
Peaceful & all together a lovely time in the woods next to the river
Peaceful a wonderful place to be with friends and family. Fireplace chimney awesome with so many cool and unique stones. Main focus here is the beauty we sat outside all day. Had the pleasure of meeting the property owner who told us the deep history of the property. Very nice well equipped kitchen. And views from everywhere.
This property is absolutely stunning. Loved being off the grid. Even though it rained while we were there, we enjoyed the view all day long. Will definitely be back.
The fireplace is amazing, we enjoyed the trails around the property. Even in the snow the trails were easy to follow.
Caretakers checked to make sure all was well with the driveway due to recent snow. Would love to come back in the summer.
The River Bend Lodge provided a beautiful, peaceful escape for a family New Year’s Eve trip. The space was perfect for our group. The big windows over-looking the river and small waterfall made for beautiful views of the surrounding nature while being able to enjoy the warm indoors. The hot tub was also a nice way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors while being warm and relaxed. Thank you for the great getaway!
This cabin is beautiful and the view is wonderful! A dip in the hot tub helped to melt away the built up stress.
A great house in a gorgeous location! We had an early Thanksgiving here. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends.
This place was incredibly amazing. The house had EVERYTHING we could possibly need in the kitchen (We baked a cake, made pork chops, had pasta, made coffee in the french press, and more!) The house was incredibly clean. And the view- 110%. There are also two easy trails around the cabin. THere's 2 across the river, but we weren't able to do them in Nov. My kids loved it and we are planning to return in the summer!
This home was the perfect get-away to simply unplug and relax. My husband and I loved cooking while listening to the river...playing games at the kitchen table and simply "doing nothing" in the midst of such nature and beauty. The hiking trails were perfectly marked and were a great way to take in the surroundings. We LOVED it and will likely be back!
Location, natural beauty and the rain forest. House is unique.
Loved the backyard and building rock towers. Bathrooms could use a little updating but would definitely return.
Thanks for a nice stay.
Very peaceful, beautiful property. Comfortable furnishings. Really enjoyed our stay.
Booked this for a girls getaway. We have a cabin a few doors down so I've grown up in this area and have many memories. The cabin is so comfortable. The view out of the living room, the beautiful floors and fireplace, the swimming hole and the beach just a few steps away. My friends were in awe. Next year we plan to book again, this time adding Eva's cottage to our reservation.
Wonderfully relaxing. Quiet, clean. Loved it.
We are not sure where to start. We planned a family vacation with our two sons, daughter-in-law and two grandkids and we could not have chosen a better spot. The photographs do not do it justice. The house is beautifully decorated with amazing views to the forest and river. We cooked, floated and took long walks in the forest. The river is calm with a waterfall and deep swimming hole, a perfect spot to float and wade with the grandkids. The jacuzzi was the perfect end to a long day of swimming and hiking. Comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen and shampoo, conditioner etc in the bathrooms. The house was super clean and met all of our expectations. We saw deer, a red fox and bobcat in addition to many beautiful birds. We would not hesitate to stay here again. There are only two issues that need to be addressed. We bought whole bean coffee by mistake but were happy to see a grinder(unfortunately it didn’t work) and the freezer took forever to make ice cubes, it literally did not freeze anything even after 3 days. Aside from this it was heaven on earth and can’t wait to return.
We have ordered a new coffee grinder, and we do recognize the fridge/freezer is older. We apologize for the inconveniences.
We "swam" in the cold Washougal, took woodsy pics on the White Trail, put together family meals in the roomy kitchen, and read books by the mammoth precious rock fireplace. Wow! 4 days of pure peace.
We had a group of 8 (3 couples and 2 singles) and with four bedrooms (1 king + 1 queen + 1 fold out + 2 twins). The property is well-set up for a weekend getaway, with beach chairs, pool towels, games, books. Very private - it is indeed on its own private river bend, no other neighbors (other than the next door guest cottage). Really impressed - this is a well-run vacation home.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at River Bend Lodge. The lodge is roomy, clean and well maintained.
Beautiful Retreat with forest and meditative sound of the water all around. I want it to be my secret haven. Do I really have to share this? lol, Well I guess someone shared it's location with me originally, for which I'm grateful!
This house is breathtaking. Right on the water we were blown away by the sight of the crystal blue water! It was fairly easy to locate, but if you need to go into town it's a bit of a drive. The house was clean, the fireplace is made out of some pretty spectacular rocks. Everyone had a fun time in the hot tub, checking out the river and cooking in the kitchen with a view! The beds were comfortable, but some of the kitchen outlets shorted out if you plug too much in them. Also, the coffee grinder did NOT work, so we had to run into town, and the fridge didnt seem to get very cold, we had a hard time keeping ice cubes. The only other drawback is that the house echos quite a bit so if you are staying with people who like to stay up, it is easy to hear everything! We had a blast here and I would stay again 100%! So much wildlife, golden eagle, american dipper, belted kingfisher, merganser, brown bat! All so wonderful!
Loved being right on the river and the spectacular view. Cabin itself is very cozy too. Highly recommend.
My husband and I spent a weekend at the lodge for our honeymoon. The cabin is beautiful, cozy, and well furnished. The location on the breathtaking river bend is to die for! We can't wait to bring our families back to visit in the summertime!
I've been to this house twice now due to the great location and the setup of the house. It's a nice place to getaway from the city, enjoy the covered hot tub while watching the river flow by. The house is cozy when you get a fire going. The house is a good size to have several people stay together comfortably. We had two couples and another person in our group and it was great. It could use a few upgrades such as a new mattress in the master bedroom and a updated modem/router for the wifi. Other than that, it has some charm and is a comfortable place to get away and relax for a couple or a small group.
Everything about this lodge is amazing. Highlights - cabin is riverside, the fireplace is a geologist's dream, trails are well-kept (we found animal bones!), furnishings are comfy and gorgeous, kitchen is well-stocked, plenty of amenities (soap, towels, shampoo, firewood, games, etc). Just a few bumps in the road - water in hot tub was VERY low and dirty, mgmt never came out to clean it during our stay (even after emailing and calling), beds are pretty uncomfortable (besides the master), and internet was spotty (totally understand this given the location). Besides these bumps - it's a wonderful cabin, great for a weekend getaway!!
Had fun. Would come back soon. Needs more firewood
the view of the river and surrounding area is great!
The property is very well maintained and the view is amazing. Its a perfect weekend getaway so unless you dont want to travel much then its a place for you. We wanted to cover different places so commute from this location was a pain. Its super isolated. Other than that, the wifi connection was very poor (can say it dint work 70% of times). Considering that the area was no mobile network area, we expected the wifi to save us but it dint. Overall, i am happy with the stay. No other complaints.
The owner is aware of the spotty internet; unfortunately this is the only internet provider in the area. If any other options become available, we will look into them.
Execellent place to visit to get away from city. Very quiet, love thensound of the water and crickets. No shoes in house but bring shoes you dont mond getting dirty and wet.
We loved this house, it's such a beautiful area and quintessential Pacific Northwest. However, if you're wanting to be close to washougal or Portland note it's not nearby. It's 20 minutes to washougal and 45 to Portland. It also says internet is available, but we found the service spotty. It's ok if you want to disconnect, but without cell phone reception it was hard to communicate to the outside world.
This lodge is beautiful! The walk down to the river is a little uneven and rockie but once down there it's absolutely beautiful. The kids loved being down near the water and exploring. The lodge is comfortable and clean. We had a full house and everyone enjoyed being here and it was exactly what we'd hoped it'd be.
A few things, we knew we had to take the trash out for pick-up, but we didn't realize we had to put it in our car and drive it up to the main road. Second thing, the linens for the media room were not clean and needed to be washed before our children could use them. We didn't realize this until we were getting ready for bed which was a bit inconvenient.
Overall though, we loved the lodge and would recommend it, which is why I'm still giving it 5 stars.
We sincerely apologize for the oversight with the linens!
This is a remote home, on a spectacular section of the river. Awesome back story on this cabin, and super beautiful home. Be prepared with food and supplies, and to not have cell services....In case of power outage or any other problems, you are on your own!
The cost indicates some luxury, but it is not a luxury property.
This was a beautiful vacation spot. Very peaceful. We enjoyed the wildlife, hiking, swimming in the river and relaxing in the hot tub.
We flew into Portland, rented a car & stayed four nights. The scenery and cabin were both gorgeous! We could have happily just stayed at the cabin the entire time. The only drawback for us is that we arrived in Portland separately so there were a couple of 2:00 a.m. trips to the airport. Due to the narrow, curvy roads & rainy conditions the trip took closer to 40 minutes each time. Our party of five was impressed with the cabin's features. The stone fireplace is stunning! As I said before we would have had a fire, but didn't get the message to the correct number. There is no cell phone coverage, but we were able to communicate using Wi-Fi & Apps to stay in contact with other local family. There is also a landline in the cabin.
We stayed here to get away from all the chaos of wedding planning and stresses of the upcoming nuptials. It was serene and quiet with AMAZING views. Sit in the hot tub with a glass of wine and watch the sunlight fade. It was more than perfect. Bedroom very comfortable. Clean and has everything you need. Not modern and updated but that would ruin the rustic ambiance. I fully recommend booking here.
We had a lovely time. So quiet and peaceful. Beautiful cabin, and we loved the history of the cabin and .the rock work that added so much to the place. One thing everyone in our party commented on was how incredibly clean all the large windows were. We are definitely planning on staying here again.
Would recommend this place to get away from the city
I just got back from my stay at Tree-ific dr. and had an amazing experience. The house was able to comfortably, accommodate me and 6 other adults. The view from the house is incredible, and we felt very safe there as well. Great location close to Columbia River Gorge, and we even drove out to the coast one day (2 hrs away)! Very great house, would definitely stay there again!
Gorgeous property! The cabin was great - away from hustle & bustle but close enough to Portland to be downtown within an hour. The cabin provided for all of our needs and the kitchen is well equipped. Great hiking (Cape Horn, Beacon Rock) very close. We will definitely return!
Close to Portland & Vancouver but felt very private & remote. The house is nice & the view of the river really couldn't be better. We had an very relaxing, peaceful, time & would like to return in warmer months.
We enjoyed our stay here, despite all the rain! The location was perfect and the view was wonderful.
To Michael Ford
I am writing to you in reply to your email following our stay at your holiday house in Washougal. Firstly, we booked your property because of its location. I have got to say that the location is absolutely spectacular and so in this respect we were not disappointed. However there were many other areas that we were disappointed in and would like to bring them to your attention so that these can perhaps be rectified for future guests.
The overall cleanliness of the house was not to a good standard. The floors needed hoovering, there were spiders on the ceiling, the cutlery/crockery and kitchen utensils all needed a good clean as well as the oven which was filthy. The glasses were all smeary and dusty and all needed to go through the dishwasher to clean them properly. The bed linen was also not fresh, particularly in the master bedroom downstairs. The ceiling and wall below the heater in the master bedroom was also stained black, possibly from where the heating is blowing out. A lick of paint would just make this look nicer. The place just looked grubby and needed a good clean and repaint.
The hot tub was another reason why we chose this property and is in an amazing position overlooking the river. We noticed that even on arrival the water was murky and didn’t smell fresh. No-one appeared to come to check on it in the 10 days we were there and so it became more murky as our stay continued. This was a shame as we actually didn’t want to get in it.
There were also several light bulbs that needed replacing.
We also emailed Michael Ford (the property manager) to ask if there was a hairdryer that could be used during our stay as we were under the impression that there was. However, nobody got back to us about this and so we had to go and buy one. In fact, we didn’t hear from or see anyone during our stay.
This property has so much potential but sadly it felt as though it had been neglected for some time. The pictures on the website did not show a true reflection of what the property actually looks like inside. If some time and effort was invested into this house it could be amazing.
We are sorry to have to send this email but we just feel that things could have been better and would hate future guests to be disappointed as we were.
We're sorry the guest was disappointed by some issues with the home and appreciate their honest feedback. The property manager has addressed the cleanliness issue with his staff. The owner is dedicating much time and effort into improving the home's beauty. Painting projects have been completed on the bedroom and furnace grills, with light bulbs and hair dryers replaced. The grounds have been prepared with hiking trails along 80 acres and the entire ground floor will have rustic slate floors installed. Thank you.
The view and location was a wonderful woods get away! Because if this special location, the little back road to the property is challenging to figure out at night and it was icy during the winter months. Our helpful hit would be follow the entry directions closely, and bring 4wheel drive vehicles. It was and amazing view, big kitchen, and comfortable space!
We're glad the guest enjoyed the home's tremendous views and location in the woods. Roadside signs have been placed on the entry driveway to guide them clearly to their destination. Thank you.
Very nice home, in a great spot right on the river, was very peaceful and quiet.
We loved our stay! The view is amazing as is the privacy. Will definitely come back in the summer when we can enjoy the river and private beach!
We rented this home for family time early Christmas with our daughter, son in law and grandchildren. What treasured moments shared in beautiful, breath taking home. The home is beautifully decorated and gives a warm, homey feel to all that enter. The kitchen abounds with everything you need, state of the art appliances and a Keurig.
You can tell the owners truly are passionate about their property. Pride abounds.
We will be back!
Loved the Riverbend Cabin. Its our second visit and we took my dad and his new wife. Very relaxing to sit and watch the river. Super size kitchen for we like to cook and the real rock fireplace is a show piece. We like it as it is quiet and away from everything. WE love the little General store down the road and don't mind the 25 minute drive to Safeway to pick up what we need. Outstanding and one of our favorites to go to.
This is a really weird comment to make but for all of us there seemed to be a really negative feeling in the house. Outside was wonderful, but inside didn't feel welcoming. I'm laughing because none of us have ever had that experience before, but no matter what time of year, no one said they would ever want to go back.
We are sorry to see that this home did not fit this guest's tastes.
The location was amazing. Private, yet not too far from activities. Would have liked it to be cleaner.
This is a wonderful place to spend time with friends and family.
Very relaxing and beautiful. You can't get closer to the river!!
I was very comfortable here and it was quiet and relaxing.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying a couple of nights and truly enjoyed the serenity of the place and area. If you want to get away from it all - this is the place!
Wonderful place, peaceful and perfect place to vacation in the Columbia River Gorge area. Hope to come back soon.
This place was located right next to the river with beautiful views, only downfall was that the drive was a little out of the way to resturaunts and shopping etc., but it's worth it for the relaxing get away! If I ever have the need to visit again, I would definitely consider this place again!
Having the river right next to the house was wonderful. My girls loved playing there. We also found a hike in Washougal that was just what we were looking for: strenuous and beautiful. It's a beautiful, secluded location. I recommend for the first time to the cabin to drive in the daylight.
You will probably never find anywhere as spectacular and remote as this cabin although there is another cabin about 50 yards away with one bedroom so we did have company near by.
Beautiful setting, river swimming and floating, top-notch staff, easy instructions...what else could you need or hope for? You really can't go wrong with this rental.
Great house! River rock chimney, hot tub, fully equipped kitchen, somewhat luxurious, yet in the woods and very private. Lovely house and area!
The home is nice ,wonderful view of the creek and running water over the rocks . It is very wooded ,lots of ferns very relaxing place. There was a few issues with the house but nothing that couldn't be fixed . They are slow to call you back if you call them. No cell service, but there is a home phone. if there is a problem with stairs be aware, there are stairs you have to go down to get from the carport to kitchen and other rooms in home.
I enjoyed my stay at the cabin. It was beautiful. The location was perfect. The views were amazing. My only complaint was the Wi-Fi and TV did not work. If they improve that it would be the perfect cabin.
We apologize that the WiFi was not working well for this guest. We have inspected the internet and found it to be in good working order.
This cabin and location along the Washougal River was one of the most beautiful and relaxing places Ive ever been. We saw a deer both mornings walking up by the river and house, the sound of the water and the small waterfall feeding into the river was sublime. This was truly an amazing place to stay.
Nice big house has everything for a relaxing stay. AC was a blessing at 96 degree heat. The little private beach and clean refreshing creak where you can actually swim, were absolutely wonderful.
Bring DVDs, as internet TV is constantly reloading and rebooting.
Cell phone connection is almost non-existent, but there is a land line in the house.
I recently hosted a retreat for pregnant women at this cabin and it was the perfect spot! It is beautiful, on a perfect river secluded and had plenty of relaxation spots. It was very comfortable for the pregnant women, loved the big kitchen, and the nice touch of the long picnic table outside. It is decorated beautifully and was very clean on entering. The hottub was the ladies favorite spot!
What an amazing find for a weekend getaway. We were truly blessed to find this home and had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The house was equipped with everything which made our stay that much better. We will definitely return to this location and make another lifetime of memories. Thank you to the property owners for allowing us to stay and for renting out your beautiful home!
Incredible property. Very peaceful and amazingly beautiful and natural. Surrounded by nature
This is a wonderful cabin in a splendid location. We came down for a weekend and enjoyed games, a relaxing hot tub, fire, and laying in a hammock by the river. The place was very clean and we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
The lodge had such a beautiful view and was a great place to relax. It was a good home base for the other activities we did while there.
Very nice home away from home, beautiful view
FIRST VACATION WITHOUT KIDS IN 10 YEARS. GREAT LOCATION. BEAUTIFUL HOME. GREAT PRIVACY. WE LIKE TO TRAVEL OFF SEASON SO SOMETIMES THINGS ARE NOT WELL KEPT UP. NOT SO WITH THIS HOME. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.
Right on the river with a large beach area to hang out on and explore....Private and peaceful. Would be Soooo nice in the summer for swimming. The house itself is very unique blending the older and new. Super comfortable and relaxing.
Nice to enjoy the hot tub too.
Beautiful inside and out!we felt like we were in a mansion in a fairytale land! The river and the waterfall and the beautiful Massi trees are just gorgeous!
My dear, sweet cousin passed away from cancer. We came from Utah to attend the funeral. We needed a place to stay and this sure beat any hotel. It was so peaceful and comforting to stay in such a wonderful place. We enjoyed every minute and found every part of this lodge perfect for our needs. We have some great photos that remind us of the amazing experience we had. Thanks for sharing this lodge with others. It is just what we needed.
My husband and I stayed Saturday through Monday and it was unbelievable how beautiful the location is and how removed from everyday society we felt we were. It is so nice to take a break from cell phones and other electronics and really be able to enjoy nature. We were able to hike around the property and down by the river and take some great pictures of the waterfall directly across from the home. The hot tub was a welcome relaxation in the evenings and a roaring fire in the beautiful fireplace set the mood nicely. We will definitely be back to this home and will recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the daily grind for a few days. Others mentioned that the property was damp during their stays but we didn't notice this at all. Then again, we had no rain during our entire stay. I am assuming this home in the summer must be a perfect getaway. We will definitely be back!
Our party included 4 adults (two couples) and a 5-month old. The location was gorgeous, even with the rain, and the cabin was clean and beautifully furnished. The beds were incredibly cozy, and the hot tub warmed us up when we got chilled. We also saw bald eagles flying along the river and diving for food, and a family of deer came onto the property our first morning there. We would love to return. Our only comment would be to make sure you bring warm layers during the winter because the cabin remains damp and cool even with the heater on and the fire roaring, probably because it's set next to the river and surrounded by tall trees.
This home is lovely! We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
Wonderful location, and the river is the nicest thing about this property. The home itself could use serious cleaning and updating. The kitchen was fully functional, making meal preparation a joy. Overall, a fairly comfortable place to have a quiet family gathering and vacation retreat.
This was a well kept lodge perfect for getting away or seeing the gorge. We were very comfortable, loved the view and location, swam in the stream, enjoyed the storybook windows while eating in.
We very much enjoyed staying at the facility. Very spacious and the amenities were very good. Enjoyed having a waster and drier available. We could embark to our next destination with clean clothes! Instructions were very clear and informative. It was very peaceful and quiet. Loved listening to the river as it flowed down the stream. It was relaxing sitting in the hot tub. It was close to the Columbia River Gorge in the "falls" corridor. We spent our time there hiking.
The Views of the River and Woods is the best part of this cabin. This is a remote location and very peaceful. We had a great time.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Riverbend lodge immensely! The river was beautiful and the large picture windows in the house let us enjoy it all day long.
This is a beautiful and peaceful place to lay back and enjoy the woods, the river, and surrounding area. The layout of the house was perfect for two couples and access to Wi-Fi was appreciated for registering to play golf , checking courses availability, and local attractions.
This home was all that the pictures made it out to be...a beautiful and peaceful retreat on the front of a river. Perfect place to escape and relax but if you want to head to Portland the drive is only about 45 minutes. If you are wanting to watch movies - it might be worth bringing a supply of blue-ray dvd's as there is no dvd library and we found that netflix was hit and miss with the connection. But between walking along the river, playing games and relaxing in the hot tub, screen time was the least of our concern.
Thank you for taking the time to share this review with us. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at this charming retreat. It certainly is located in such a serene setting and it's wonderful to hear that you took advantage of soaking in the hot tub after exploring the outdoors. Bringing along some dvd favorites is a great idea! We hope that you'll keep us in mind for your next trip to the Columbia Gorge area and we thank you for choosing Vacasa!
This home was right next to the beautiful river and across from a small waterfall. There were large glass windows on one side of the house which allowed us an incredible view, but might have let the heat escape, which kept the house from feeling warm and cozy. It would be perfect in the summer. We were so impressed with how the house was organized. It had everything we needed and more. The placement of everything was intuitive and easy to find. Most of all, it was clean and comfortable! It was all of the little things that added up, like the comfortable beds, kitchen and bathroom amenities and the feeling like this place was truly cared for. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Even though it sleeps 8, only two cars are allowed. We didnt know this until a few days before our stay, and had to make last minute arrangements. Also, no shoes are allowed in the house, but since this is only in the guest book we didnt find this out until we had walked through the house in our shoes. Please put these things in the discription so guests can prepare. You should also put a picture of the amazing geode decorated fireplace in your ad.
Thank you for this great feedback, and letting us know what needs updated in the guest information.
We had such an enjoyable time at the River Bend Lodge! The river and waterfall are absolutely beautiful! We spent our evenings visiting and playing Sequence.
Would have loved to stay for another couple of nights.
This was such a lovely place to stay at for our girls weekend. Definitely will keep it mind for future trips.
The home is beautiful and the view of the river and the falls out the front window are memorizing. The river is a corridor for birds and we saw ducks, king fisher and an immature bald eagle.
what a lovely, quiet getaway... it was so nice that our cell phones had no service, and all you could hear was the rippling river and waterfall right outside the door. hot tub was awesome, kitchen had all we needed, bed was super cozy.. we will totally come back to this one
We thoroughly enjoyed our magical week long stay in this beautiful forest. The huge old growth trees and the incredible winding river view took our breath away. We were surrounded by tranquil green from every direction and were able to watch the beautiful deer and other wildlife very close up. We loved the peacefulness of this secluded remote location. The features we loved the most about the cabin, was the unique stone fireplace that made our stay warm and romantic; the huge picturesque windows, and the cozy comfy bed. The kitchen provided us a wonderful place to cook an early Thanksgiving meal and the large dining room table was a perfect place for our meals and playing board games. We enjoyed a couple movies watched on the Apple TV, and loved soaking in the hot tub the brisk night air. Some people mentioned that it was too far to go out for a meal, but we found the beautiful drive pleasant and ate out twice. One must stop and see Cape Horn's stunning view. When we first arrived we had snow and ice. Later the rain came and melted it away...and still, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. We plan to go back and experience a warm weather stay next year.
This log home situated right on the banks of the Washougal River is perfect for a family or couples getaway. Perfect for nature lovers, hikers and anybody just wanting to get away to a quite, secluded spot that is still conveniently located. Hot tub is a welcome respite after a long day of hiking and sightseeing.
We had a perfect girl's getaway weekend. The house was clean and beatiful, the hot tub was perfect. Seems like everything had been well thought out for guests. The beds were comfy, the kitchen large and welcoming, and the fireplace really made our winter retreat so cozy. Thanks for such a fabulous stay.
This place was perfect for our needs. Watching the waterfall from the dining table was very relaxing. The fireplace was cozy. The grounds keeper was very nice. Overall, nice get away place.
A truly lovely property with an amazing setting. Very quiet and relaxing. No cell service is nice to give you some break from the rat-race but internet is still there in case you need to reach out.
If you're quiet enough you'll see lots of wildlife too. (Beaver, deer, numerous birds, reptiles etc...)
Thank you very much for the nice review. Isn't it great to just get away from it all and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature? Thank you for staying with us, we look forward to your next visit.
Our family loved staying here! This house is located right next to the river, and is only about 40 minutes from Portland. The house layout has three bedrooms upstairs, and a great room downstairs which has three enormous windows which overlook the river. The house is equipped with Apple TV streaming on two large flat screen tvs, and has a delightful kitchen with quality appliances. Our family of 5 enjoyed floating in the river & feeling like we left the city far behind. The outdoor hot tub is in a very private area, and was really fun to soak in. We stocked up on groceries from the Safeway that was 25 minutes away, cooked together, and enjoyed every minute in this cabin. This wouldn't be a spot to rent if you plan on eating out at restaurants; the cabin is nestled in the woods, down a private road; it would just seem like too much driving to be worth it. We would definitely love to come back.
Thank you for this great review. Its great that you enjoyed the peace and quiet that this house offers. We hope you will choose to stay with us again soon.
