This house was private and down a remote road in the woods. Some updates have been made and some still need to be done. Both beds need new mattresses. The carpet in the bedrooms should be replaced. The outdoor screened in porch is lacking some nice furniture and a decorators touch. Nothing makes it inviting to sit out there. All outdoor furniture needs updating. This home could be so cute with just a few minor things replaced. The fireplace mantle should be a focal point and instead has some 50 cent garage sale items on top of it. Same with the kitchen. The few cups that are there are all individual. Supplying one or a few kitchen towels would be wonderful. The bathroom towels we're great and plentiful though. The supplies in the kitchen are sorely lacking. Usually when we stay at VRBO homes there is leftover spices, salt and pepper shakers, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, plastic containers to store the food you've cooked. There was nothing but aluminum foil, pans, silverware, plates, and a hodgepodge of glasses. The Keurig coffee maker was a wonderful touch! I'm all about presentation and this house is sorely lacking. Just a few extra bucks would go a long way into making it a great place to stay. We came with our two pups and we're dismayed at the deep incline to get into the water. It's beautiful and wonderful to listen to but not easy for dogs to get in. The front yard is gated which is wonderful but it's mostly moss which means mud when it rains. It would be great if they put down some river rock pea gravel. It's small enough that it should not cost a lot and dog owners would be very appreciative. The hot tub heated but was low in water and the pH was also low. We added water and some stuff to raise it but it never came up. There was absolutely no chlorine and a visible film on the water and the walls of the hot tub. A trip to Home Depot for some chlorine helped a little. I think they need to get a service guy out there and also supply some chlorine. The floor mat outside the front door had 3 stains on it upon arrival and the mat in front of the hot tub almost killed me. So slick with slime we hung it over the deck for 2 days. I did like this house but definitely think it needs a little investing in. Their cleaning service also needs to be looked at. Yes, there were still spiderwebs hanging from the bathroom ceiling. Mouse poop on kitchen floor and hair on couch covers. Mice in this sitting is expected and I'm used to dog hair. I probably would not rebook this house due to the lack of amenities and overall up keep. A little money invested goes along way. I liked it but would look elsewhere for our next visit to this area due to the lack of simple amenities and overall feeling of lack of love for this beautiful home. A little bit of love goes along way and this home is screaming for some. I'm not sure if it's the owners or the property management company but somebody needs to step up to the plate for this house. Take care of your investment and it will take care of you!
We appreciate the guests feedback. Local staff drains and refills the hot tub between each guest and while we do provide spa chemicals (bromine, not chlorine) that can be found in the closet by the door, no extra should be needed. Our Local Manager will discuss with the owner on how to make the porch more of a welcoming environment for guests. The kitchen towels can be found in the basket on the counter by the stove.
Second time we’ve stayed here. Perfect size and location for what we wanted.
My husband, two dogs and I stayed almost a week and loved it. While it is not super fancy or upscale it does meet all your needs. It is mostly secluded (neighbor on one side) and has creek frontage! The creek is accessible you just have to be a little careful getting down to it. Our dogs loved the creek!! There was a very artistic 'rock stack' in the creek along this cabins' creek frontage that was really neat. Also, close to the creek is a small deck with seating where you can relax and watch the water. The cabin was super comfortable and the hot tub was amazing. There is a screened porch area with seating and an open deck where the hot tub is with more seating. There was even a doggie gate at the top of the deck stairs to keep your dog up on the deck! It has a fenced area in the front for dogs and a washer/dryer but no dishwasher (may be an issue for some but doing them by hand is pretty easy). The bed in the rear bedroom is the one we used and it was very comfortable. It is also close to most activities and the downtown area. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!!
This was a magical place to stay. We enjoyed it so much that we talked about making it a yearly vacation. The house is so cozy, and the outdoors is so incredibly relaxing with the sound of the creek. We enjoyed having a beloved dogs with us too. Thank you so much! It was perfect for our little family.
We've stayed here a couple of times and love it. It's so nice and peaceful. It's perfect for a weekend getaway.
The refrigerator doors reversed.
Safety bars in tub/shower
Knobs on dryer
They were every where
The property managers were not available the first night when I tried to call them after we arrived, the phone number on the fridge may not be valid...
Bring matches - the started on the drill does not work.
We liked the closeness to the river and the screened in porch. The fenced in dogs.
The place was okay. I mean just okay. There was good and bad.
The kitchen was over run by ants. We had to leave the trash can outside...
The toilet flushes really loud and the door for the second bedroom won't stay open... slams shut everytime
We spoke with this guest while in the cabin and showed her where the lighter was for the grill, and she said she already sprayed for ants before our arrival Ants come in every time we have a lot of rain, so we keep ant spray under the sink in addition to having the home treated quarterly. No ants were noticed by the housekeeper prior to their arrival otherwise we would have sprayed it ourselves. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have followed-up with housekeeping about properly stocking the home with garbage bags, and we have double-checked all provided numbers for local contacts. Thank you!
Didn't like the gravel road to the rental but when we got there it was situated at the end of the road and very private... Had a fenced front yard for the dogs and nice hot tub on the back porch. Cable connection and good television reception made the quiets nights go fast... Brought my fishing rod and caught a 12" small mouth bass that I released so that others will enjoy catching him. It is close to all types of activities so we were never bored. A nice place to get away to.
The house is really a cabin type atmosphere. The finishes etc. look like a summer cabin. If your looking for an upper end accommodation this is not it. It's a very comfortable, homey, Grandma's house kind of place. We loved sitting on the screen porch when it was raining, and on the deck when it was sunny. We used the gas grill at least 9 times for suppers. (We emptied the one gas bottle and started on the new one) We used the hot tub most evenings, it was great! The town of Blue Ridge is very dog friendly! We were able to take her in to most places. Take the time to visit Grumpy Old Men's brewery, fantastic beer and great people there! Also if you like folk pottery visit Smoke on the Mountain Pottery, the owner Rob is a real gem and does great work along with very reasonable prices. This vacation rates up there in our top 5 of all time!
Cup of coffee on the covered back porch with the sound of the river was very relaxing as well as the hot tub in the evening.
We loved the cabin being by the water and also able to enjoy the mountain view. Everything was well stocked.
Our stay was wonderful. The cabin is peaceful and we were able to relax, which is exactly what we needed.
What a great cozy cottage at the end of a gravel drive. Barbara delivered us great customer service showing us the southern hospitality that we love. We had a slight issue upon our arrival and she diligently responded on a Sunday. She said that she should would send someone out and sure enough by the time we returned from exploring Downtown Blue Ridge the problem was resolved. The cottage was set up nicely and no detail was left out.
We had a wonderful peaceful stay at dog with Creekside. The outside porch was great, listening to the creek and my husband able to do his jewelry business. It was very tranquil and we had a hard time leaving on Saturday morning. My father passed away in August so it was a perfect place to just relax and rest. Thank you so much.
I couldn't wait to get back to this cabin at the end of the day just to be in complete peace, sitting out on the porch and deck drinking some wine and listening to that Creek
The cabin was very clean and roomy. The one complaint is that it would be great if there was actually access to get to the creek. Loved the deck at the creek and the fire pit.
We loved every second we spent in Dogwood Creekside. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the creek run, and the cabin was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We will definitely be back and we love renting with Sundance - this is our third time!
The home was just as advertised. It was spotless, secluded and just perfect!
We enjoyed our weekend stay at Dogwood Creekside. This cabin was nice and cozy and had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. We will definitely be coming back again soon!
We loved Dogwood Creekside cottage! Like going to an upscale version of granny's house! Rustic yet well decorated with beautiful items. Loved the glass top table on the screen porch!!! The fenced yard was perfect for our fur babies, they are always leashed when outside and they couldn't get enough of running free in the yard. The deck on the river was just awesome, we can't wait to plan a longer stay in your cottage!!!
Only thing needed was limbs trimmed away for easier access for fishing so lines wouldn't get tangled up.Even from the deck area provided access to creek for fishing not easy. A couple of new frying pans would be nice the teflon coating on the ones there were shot . The location was great and we enjoyed our stay there.
Having the fenced yard with our two dogs was the best. Everything was there that was needed. The hot tub was already to go and the sounds of the creek was so relaxing. Most of all the Sundance Rental management was the reason I didn't book anywhere else, very well managed when I needed something Barbara answered right of way. The wifi worked for us and loved having all the TV channels. Just a perfect long weekend.
Cabin was clean and well equipped. Hot tub was great and the service and helpfulness was in the good ole Southern tradition. We will be back for sure.
