The main level is inviting with high ceilings, an open living and dining space, and a large, country-inspired kitchen. There's a cozy sitting space beneath a huge window where you can see the Gorge, plus with a gas fireplace, so it's easy to curl up with a glass of wine and relax. What a great house! Fantastic view of the river and a cozy space made us feel right at home! A quiet neighborhood, but walkable to plenty of amenities, and a quick drive to downtown. We really enjoyed our weekend and would gladly stay here again!

Great house. Hard to find at first as the entrance is off 18th street. Great River view - HR bridge to the Hook. Gas fireplace throws off a lot of heat. Not overly fancy, but functional. Sort of shabby kitschy chic.

Large home with tons of sleep space. Not overly spacious but large enough for your group with a great common space. About a 15 minute walk to downtown Hood River. Would have been 6/5 stars if the hot tub was still there
Nicole G. Sep 2018
We loved our stay here! It was in a good location, not directly downtown but not far enough that we couldn't walk. We will definitely be staying here again!

Fine place to spend a few nights with friends and family

Good location for a family wedding.

Great spot to have some of my groomsman stay during my wedding weekend. Close to town, but also close to other rentals in the area that my loved ones were staying at! Plenty of space, great view. Thanks!
Katie G. Apr 2018
Spacious enough for 8 adults to very comfortably spend a long weekend. Kitchen had everything you need to prepare meals. Beds and bathrooms were well equipped. We had a great experience and would stay again!

The proximity to the main road makes it difficult to grab some sleep. The neighbourhood doesn't seem safe.

Warm house with huge windows overlooking gorge. Bring your own coffees grinder.

We had originally booked a stay in a cabin in zig zag with the same company but the morning of our stay recieved a call that the pipes were frozen and the offer to stay at another property. The closest they could get us was this Hood River house. I actually think we enjoyed this property more than we would have the cabin. It was perfect for our ski trip to Mt. Hood. We had our dog, 2 young children, and parents stay. The house was comfortable and clean. The view is beautiful if it's a clear day. My only tiny complaint was that the furnace is pretty loud when it kicks on. We would stay here again and recommend to others. Thanks!

We have loved this home in the past because it is in a good location, dog friendly, and has a hot tub. However, this visit the hot tub was broken, many light bulbs were burnt out, and a smoke alarm was beeping. The cost was too high for a home that is not properly kept up. If the owner would like to keep renting it, they should do some much needed upkeep.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see that this guest was not as thrilled with their stay this time. The owners have opted out of replacing the hot tub at this time, but batteries and light bulbs have been changed out, and the carpet and blinds have been replaced.

The house could use TLC but the beds were comfy and it has a great view!!

We left Hood River this morning. We were disappointed with this property:
• The hot tub pictured on VRBO was not usable: partially drained, cold and with a broken insulated top. as runners and racers we had looked forward to a post-race soak.
• There was a Mustang car parked in the garage and a large wooden box in the gravel parking area. So 2 of the advertised 5 parking spots are taken. The garage door was not locked and from the outside opened with just pulling up the handle. We left it as we found it.
• The upstairs living room gas stove smelled strongly of gas when turned on and didn't light. we called your answering service and they said they would send a repair person right out. Today we found that person called my home phone at 7 pm last night. Good news, we didn't try to light the stove and just left it alone. It still needs your attention.
• The railings on the door of the refrigerator were all gone.
• The carpet on the stairs and living rooms are worn, deeply stained and dirty. Also the frayed edges of the steps caught our shoes several times.
• The master bedroom shower door is missing a lower lip and water runs copiously onto the floor.
• The various burnt out lights in the house had no available replacements.
• The exterior paint is peeling and stained. The living room AC installation is a bizarre combination of duct tape and spider webs.
• Your answering service was unhelpful: they gave the gas repair person a phone number that kept him from contacting us although we gave her one of our cell numbers, told us that there really wasn’t a working hot tub advertised and asked us to get light bulbs supposedly stored at the house—but weren’t. She had no idea where the Mustang in the garage came from.

As you know, your property is expensive; we have rented several places a year in the northwest for the last 4 years and this was the highest priced and by far the most deficient. We would like a partial refund of our rental fee. $200 seems fair to us.

Manager response:
We are sorry to read about the disappointments and inconveniences these guests experienced. Parking instructions have been updated to reflect the car in the garage. The hot tub is no longer advertised and will be removed from the photos of the property soon. The fireplace is working perfectly and carpets will be replaced by the end of the month. The fridge, light fixtures, and exterior paint will have to wait for the time being.

Hood river is a fun place to stay and this house make everything just a short drive away.

We love Hood River and this home is very centrally located. Nice separation of space for several family members or friends. The refrigerator is a bit run down and one of the toilets kept running. Dining table is roomy. Nothing fancy but beds were comfortable and space was very usable.

A group of us recently just visited Hood River for the first time and really enjoyed our stay at this home. We were able to walk downtown (about a mile) and we were only a 5 minute ride from a winery that we checked out and a 15 minute drive from white water rafting. The bridge to get over the river is $1:) The house was a little difficult to find but thanks to trusty Google maps we figured it out - it's not actually ON Columbia but off the main road Cascade. The hot tub was a nice addition and I'm sure in the fall and winter months very relaxing! Would recommend this house for large groups or family. Plenty of space for everyone.

The location was good, but the house was not very clean. There were dead bugs in the window sills and an infection of baby spiders, a bunch of garbage in the garage, including a used diaper on the old stove range. There were dirty floors and dishes in the cabinets. Overall I was disappointed by the lack of cleanliness.
Manager response:
We apologize that housekeeping was lacking for this stay. The garbage has been taken care of, the windows cleaned, and the dishes properly cleaned as well.

Good location to store, pretty decent and safe walk to downtown HR. Plenty of driveway and garage parking, however somewhat difficult to find from the street for some folks. House is a middle-range place to stay; could use some cleaning of the actual structure (carpet, walls, blinds), but the open living area and kitchen up top were very nice and the bedrooms and bathrooms were great (and clean). Also, there were no blinds/drapes in the lower windows and living area, which makes privacy an issue. Some concern about the deck size/capacity/condition especially with a giant hot tub on it, but for a quick trip with no giant expectations from Portland this was great!
Emily E. May 2016
Stayed at Maritz with a large group of friends and a few dogs. Great location right off the main road, walkable to town. Nice large kitchen/great room for hanging out and cooking. Bedrooms were all nicely furnished and clean. The hot tub was unusually loud and ran the entire weekend, even though the jets were off and it's in need of a new cover.
Manager response:
We are happy to hear about your stay at the home and that you enjoyed it! Thank you for your feedback about the hot tub in the home, we have notified our local property manager who will be addressing your concerns. We hope to have you back soon!

We really enjoy staying here! We plan to return.
Alison . Feb 2016
This place is on a very busy street and it's an old, rundown property. The carpets are dirty. Walls are marked and banged up. But what's worse, when we arrived there were dishes in the dishwasher, dirty. And because the dishwasher was so faulty, we ended up doing them. There were dirt streaks on hand towels set out for use. There were carpet tacks that were exposed and could've punctured bare feet. When we went to close the kitchen blinds so as not to see the parking lot, we were disgusted at the grease and food stains on the blinds. We paid a huge cleaning deposit and clearly they aren't doing much cleaning. Customer service was horrible. We talked to several people at Vacasa who simply didn't care. We've rented MANY better properties in Hood River over the past 10 years and will NEVER rent from Vacasa again.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to read about this guest's experience. The Property Manager will discuss these comments with the owner for their consideration, and housekeeping fill receive follow-up training.

Two families rented this home for a quick getaway from mid-Holiday Portland and had a great time. The home was warm and inviting when we arrived, with lots of room in the kitchen for cooking and a closet full of towels for hot tubbers. After a day playing in the snow at Cooper Spur, it was soooooooo nice to get back to the hot tub in the evening. It's hard to beat the location--right in between a grocery store and downtown Hood River, with a view of the Columbia below. This is a great location for a family gathering or a retreat for a group of friends who want to be close to the town amenities of Hood River and the fun of the Gorge and the mountain.

Great house for our needs. The inside space was very comfortable, really appreciated the washer and dryer and that it was pet friendly. The outside of the home really needed attention but overall we really enjoyed our stay, fairly close to downtown.
Manager response:
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback! We always appreciate hearing from our guests so that we can learn more about some of the highlights of your stay, as well as any feedback you may have that is vital to our making improvements. We will share this information with our local team and look forward to having you stay with us again!

All the guests who I arranged to stay in the house were very impressed with the accommodation. It was a great spot and we all enjoyed our time. I'd recommend it to anyone

We loved being able to walk downtown and the two levels of the home were awesome! We will definitely be back!!!
Manager response:
Thank you for this excellent review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and can't wait to have you stay with us again!

We had a great time in Hood River and really appreciate that you rented to us with our dogs. The house had a great view. The view of the gorge, fireplace and hot tub are nice features of this home. There are some things that need a little work around the house, but overall we had a very enjoyable stay!
