Loved this charming beach house. The kitchen was well equipped and great fire pit out back. There was a mix up with cleaning crew and we arrived to an unclean house. However, property management was quick to respond and get the place spic and span so we could enjoy our vacation. Would definitely stay again.

Beautifully restored 1930's cottage was big enough for our family of six (adult kids) to spend a few days on the Oregon coast. Everything was great! Rent this place with confidence, you won't be disappointed--fully stocked kitchen (take advantage of the espresso machine), wonderful toiletries and towels in the bathroom, and a full-sized washer and dryer make this place as useful as it was inviting.

We rent a house on the Oregon coast every summer before school starts and every time we have such a wonderful time we come away thinking that we need one of these beach cottages for our own! We never want to leave!

This was the first time that we rented a cottage so close to town. We like it to be quiet and calm so I was worried driving down that maybe this house would be too close to the bustle of Rockaway Beach. We were very pleased! The house and beach were quiet and calm AND it was only a 5 minute walk to great restaurants or 10 min drive to the grocery store in the next town over. This house is the smallest one we have rented for our family of four + big dog, but it worked out great.

The only things I can see that might cause trouble is the shower and the parking. I am 5’5” tall. My husband is 5’11” tall and when you step into the shower even my head felt like it might hit the ceiling. The shower was very small but impeccably clean!

Now the parking. On the morning we left to drive home, our van started making putting sounds that it had never made before. About 20 minutes later we pulled over to a machanics shop and found that rats/mice had chewed through some cables in the engine so that one of the pistons wouldn’t fire. The shop fixed it in a half hour for $40 so it wasn’t too bad for us this time. Living in the woods up north we also have rodent problems when parking our cars outside, so we don’t park them outside. This cottage has a garage but it was not available to renters. Looking back, I would next time choose a house with a garage open to visitors so that we would be less likely to have this problem again. Otherwise, this is a clean well kept home on a gorgeous beach next to a sweet little town.

Been doing Oregon Coast vacations for many years now. This house was in a great location and met all our needs. We had a great stay.
Ed K. Jul 2018
A Relaxing & Beautiful setting. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Michael G. Jul 2018
It was right on the beach and the burn pit on that patio was very secluded. Only complaint would be the maintenance I needed to do, many light bulb's were burned out and the flashlight batteries were dead. I also had to fix the closet door's in the master bedroom as they were off track and not properly installed.
Jen R. Jun 2018
The house was perfect for us and our 2 little wiener dogs. Great views of the beach, sunsets and kite flying. The house was well equipped with cute decor. Great home and we will stay again. Thank you!
Lesley G. Jun 2018
Many stays at this house...new furnishings this time made it even better. Location is one of the best on the coast and very sheltered fire pit is my favourite thing. Only lack of dishwasher stops me giving this cute house a 5
Phyllis B. Apr 2018
The house has an old-fashioned vibe and has everything you need for a week getaway. Kitchen is well appointed, lighting is great, furniture and beds comfortable and of course, the access to beach is terrific.
Marianna W. Apr 2018
The house was great for our family. One day of sun and another of wind and rain...it was close to the beach for play in good weather and had great windows for watching the storm. Definitely would recommend and visit again!
Kayleen E. Mar 2018
It was great
Jeremy F. Mar 2018
Great house fun trip will be doing it again soon
Jeanne S. Mar 2018
We loved the charm and proximity to the beach of this house! Plenty of space and dog friendly. Looking forward to renting again.
Jill M. Jan 2018
This cabin is dry, without any beachy moist scent. It is extremely clean and well maintained. Comfortable furnishings, great dining room table with view of dunes and waves. Fenced yard. Short, easy path to the beach. We had a great stay and will return.
Steve R S. Jan 2018
Be forewarned, the fireplace is not in working order. After figuring out the alternate heating sources we were able to keep snug and warm on our stormy weekend. We had gale force winds and pounding rain, this cottage is nice and sturdy and we didn't worry about a thing. This house has great beach access right out the back gate. The path leads to the ocean which is just a few feet away. It's wonderful for either kids or dogs and the gate is latchable.
Rachael D. Jan 2018
We had a great time at Cheri's Oceanfront Getaway! Loved the location right on the beach and the views from the living room and bedroom. Great updated furnishings and TV setup, while maintaining its super charming, retro feel (the kitchen and bathroom are right out of the '50s). Easy walk to town in Rockaway Beach for some fish and chips or pizza. We will definitely stay here again!
Michele A. Dec 2017
The home was cozy and warm with every comfort we needed. The walk to the beach was so close and the walk into town was close as well. We will be back! That’s for sure!!!
Heidi J. Nov 2017
The pictures don't do this place justice on location and view of the beach. We had gorgeous sunset views and can see the ocean from the back patio. This house is adorable as well inside and very clean!
Oran W. Nov 2017
We truly enjoyed our visit! The house is a quaint old place, comfortable to us and our dogs. We loved the ocean views and had a great time taking our dogs for walks on the beach, even when raining and windy!
Anne B. Sep 2017
We were in town for a conference that was held in Garibaldi and Rock Away was a nice, short drive away. The house is perfect for two people or a couple and a child. Loved the vintage feel and the proximity to the beach. Everything was clean and the kitchen and bath were well stocked. Only thing we wished it would have had was windows that opened or at least one window that opened in the bedroom, so we could hear the ocean as we slept. We happened to be there when the temps were over 80 degrees, which is rare and we are not complaining, but it would have been nice to be able to open a window. Also, no dishwasher is a bummer, but not a deal breaker. All and all, a great place to stay!
Julie C. Sep 2017
This was uur families second consecutive year at Rock Away Beach but this stay was even better than the first. The house was perfect for our family of four and our dog. The way it is layed out is really conducive to enjoying the same living space. We had our favorite pizza from Upper Crust, which is in town. My son and husband enjoyed surf fishing all day and only steps away, while mother son and I played with the dog and threw the frisbee on the beach! The town is just adorable with plenty of awesome restaurants, bakeries, and fun shops. This place offers something for everyone. We sat together and played checkers, poker, and scrabble at the dining room table with a great view of Twin Rocks! Doesn't get much better than that. There was not one thing we needed that this place didn't provide (lots of clean towels, blankets, appliances, games, laundry, etc.). Can't wait to come back! Thanks Vacasa!
Kari S. Aug 2017
This is a lovely cottage. We stayed for a week and that was not long enough. 4 adults fit comfortably the cottage was immaculate when we arrived. We all thought our beds and bedding were wonderful. Most of our meals were cooked in and there was a tool for everyone of them to be made. My Mom the Master Gardner loved the flower beds, they needed a little tending to so she went out and got clippers and cleaned up the rose beds (this is something she loves to do.) We brought our 2 dogs who loved it as much as all of us, the beach access was a few feet from the gated backyard. We defiantly will rent this Cottage again. Great time for all in Rockaway.
Casey P. Aug 2017
We were a bit hesitant on what to expect from this older home but was pleasantly surprised. The furniture was new, there was plenty of chairs outside as well as sand toys for our kids. The fenced in patio was awesome, the landscaping is perfect for sheltering from the wind as well as neighbors patios. The pictures don't do this place justice, it's wonderful.
Dawn S. Jul 2017
We very much enjoyed our stay at this house. The house was clean when we arrived, the kitchen had pretty much anything you'd need, the yard/patio were tidy, and the internet speed was great. Bathroom is a bit small, especially the shower if you're 6ish feet tall but loved the built in drawers. We didn't get cell service in the house but did if we walked to the street or out to the dune toward the ocean - not a bad place from which to make a call :-). We'd stay here again.
DENISE E. Jun 2017
The beach where this house is is very nice. The house itself is old and not very well maintained but has some charm. The furniture, especially the red chairs and couch are hideous and need to go to the dump. Beds are fairly comfortable. There are no outlets in the bathroom for blow dryers because of the age of the house. The town itself is nothing special but the beach is incredible.
Justine V. Jun 2017
Nicely situated oceanfront/ocean view home.
Erica T. Jun 2017
This is a nice old house right on the beach- well equipped in the kitchen, a little trouble here and there with electronics, but overall a nice quaint little house just a short walk to the beach. Fire pit area was nice
Ashish S. May 2017
It is an okay property. Sort of old. Power outlets were not working in living and dining area when we were there. Beach access is great and property is secured which is good for dogs. There is area for campfire in the backyard. If renovated properly, it can be a great spot though.
Manager response:
We have an electrician working on the wiring in the home. Thank you!
Johanna H. May 2017
great stay!
Sonja H. Apr 2017
Great week
Pat D. Apr 2017
This place has everything and more that you need, even a potato masher for mashed potatoes. My family of 5 loved it and we will stay here again. Vacasa is an awesome management company as well. As you can see from the other posts, the style of the house is from the 1930's which we loved. The beach is right out your back door and is beautiful and quiet. The washer and dryer came in handy as we probably did 10 loads of laundry.
Laura C. Mar 2017
My family recently celebrated my daughters 19th birthday at Cheri's beachouse. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and comfortable we were. I loved the beach being right out the back and felt safe that there was a little fence that surrounded the back for our dog. It was a little chilly when we arrived but the baseboard heat completely warmed up the house in no time. The stay was perfect and the price was unbeatable. I would definitely recommend this beach house to family and friends and hope to stay again in the near future.
Theresa M. Feb 2017
The location of this house is fantastic, you can be on the beach in about a minute. The views are great. It's just a short walk to several businesses such as coffee shops. There's a nice little fenced area off the back patio which is convenient for letting dogs out. The fence is only about 3 feet tall though so big dogs and little dogs who are good jumpers can easily get over it if they want to.

The house is definitely old and could use some very basic updating such as exterior locks being replaced so it's not a chore every time you need to unlock them. The beds in the two bedrooms are comfortable, but they're so high that they're difficult to get into. The house is heated by two baseboard heaters that are both in the living room. So the living room can get hot while the bedrooms remain very cold, but there are small space heaters provided in the bedrooms. The pull out bed in the couch is extremely uncomfortable, even by pull out bed standards. I definitely would not plan on two people sleeping on it, and one person would probably be more comfortable just sleeping on the couch.

You can't beat the location. I'd stay there again if we only needed two beds or if we needed 3 beds and the pull out bed was replaced.
Donald R. Feb 2017
House was old but that's OK; needs some real upgrades; especially power outlets! BBQ was old and rusty, not something we wanted to use! Easy access to the beach but house sits too low for any view from the chairs inside. Was warm and beds were comfortable but seating was not!
Terry M. Jan 2017
Cozy house with a nice view of Twin Rocks. There is a short trail that leads down through the Beach grass to the Beach. We really liked the patio area & the Fire pit. Its protected from the wind with a nice covered bench seat so you can still have a fire no matter what the weather is doing. The yard was landscaped and taken care of, Looked nice.
Suzanne M. Dec 2016
Awesome location! Quiet and right on the beach.
Gary D. Nov 2016
Loved the house, comfortable, clean with that "Home" feeling. We will be back!!!!!
Eileen P. Nov 2016
We had everything we needed in a clean, comfortable getaway. Loved the view and direct access to the beach. The fire pit was an enjoyable bonus.
Abigail K. Nov 2016
wonderful grandmaesque home in delightful condition.
Sarah G. Nov 2016
Beautiful view and incredibly charming little cottage. Possibly the most authentic old-school Oregon Coast beach house I've ever stayed in! Loved the pink tile in the bathroom and the little hidden cupboards and drawers everywhere. Definitely a tidy, well-kept spot that's perfect for people who value a unique experience over luxury.
Denise M. Sep 2016
Great place!
Beverly R. Sep 2016
You don't have to travel to the beach; you're already there!
Barb J. Aug 2016
I would recommend this except for the shower, and furnishings. Location was fabulous, and had everything we needed for kitchen. Lack of patio furniture also lacking and garden neglected.
Manager response:
This home does have more of a retro feel to it, including the furnishings, but everything is in good condition. The carpet has been recently cleaned, and patio furniture has been purchased.
Wendy S. Aug 2016
We enjoyed our stay.
We would definately stay here again!
Janine B. Aug 2016
We enjoyed 4 nights at this cute 1930's beach cottage. It maintains the charm and functionality that you see from that time period. It was a perfect size for our crew of 5. We enjoyed the outdoor space (although the sand dune obstructs most of the ocean view - just a very short private walk to the beach). We would happily return to this property. Our only recommendation during our stay was that the kitchen needed measuring cups/spoons and smaller sized pans.
Jennifer R. Jul 2016
While we only had one night at this charming cottage on the ocean, it was packed with perfection! The house is comfortable and the beds are SUPER! Love the flow from the house out to the dunes and ocean. I can't wait to book my next visit and hope to stay for more than one night.
Alyson R. Jul 2016
This house is adorable. It was perfect for our short stay at the beach, but we'd like to come back and stay longer! We loved the back"yard" horseshoe pits, fire ring and amazing beach access.
Brendan M. Jul 2016
This is the second time we have been here in the last month...! It's a quick drive from Portland, the town is small, quaint and friendly. We have a 2 and a 4 year old and they played out back the whole time! The highlight is the train ride that leaves Rockaway 2x daily to Girabaldi, a must do for any train enthusiasts! All in all a great beach house, short walk to a lovely beach, great place for families with a little extra room for friends to come as well...
David S. Jul 2016
Perfect place to enjoy the beach without all of the commercialism and crowds of the more well known beaches. Loved it!
Marisa M. Jul 2016
Wonderful place to visit. My son and I stayed a week and it was great. Watch out for the neighbors dogs, two houses down. Distance to the beach was fabulous. House was clean and comfortable. We will definitely come back.
Virginia V. Jun 2016
What a find! First the house is vintage and cute. It was what I would expect for a beach house. There were games and books not that we spent anytime utilizing because the house is right on the beach. You walk down a little stone path over a mound and BAM! Ocean is right there. The beds were extremely comfortable. We stayed at a different location further down the coast our first night and wished we would have booked here instead. Walking distance to restaurants and stores. We had an excellent meal at the Sand Dollar. They make a mean Martini and the oysters 3 ways were amazing. Homemade desserts too. There is an outside fire pit that we utilized and made s'mores in the rain. The only negative I have about the home is that the windows don't open. It makes the house feel a little stuffy. This was a great experience and we are thinking about booking for next summer.
Laurie Q. Jun 2016
We enjoyed our stay at Cheri's and hope to stay again. Our dogs loved the fenced yard and the fire pit was awesome. Horeshoe pits, beach access...what more could you ask for.
JOHN L. May 2016
Great place to spend time at the beach. From the big front window we could watch the surf and beautiful sunset. Short walk to the beach. Beds very comfortable. Upon a return trip to Rockaway Beach we will try to stay here.
Ben M. May 2016
A great oceanfront getaway!
Veronica D. Apr 2016
Cozy cottage with so much character. a quaint back yard
Misty L. Mar 2016
A very cozy stay on the water front for a great price!
Michelle G. Mar 2016
Clean, quiet, and pet friendly.
Kylene H. Mar 2016
We thought the house was charming and the views were great. This was very relaxing getaway for us and would love to return someday.
Traci E. Feb 2016
We thought the house was a perfect beach house. Loved the big picture windows (and window seat) where we could just sit and watch the kites. It was a great fit for us and our 2 greyhounds. Nice big laundry room for them to get dried off in. The beds were incredibly comfortable. We are coming back to this house in August!
James G. Jan 2016
Ron N. Jan 2016
The place was great. I booked this place because of a reconnect. 31 years ago I had a crush in high school on a girl and we reconnected online . She lives a 1000 mile away from me. So this was our romantic getaway together. And now we are pursuing a future together.
Rachel D. Nov 2015
Upon arrival, we found a note that there was a leak in the laundry room that was being worked on supposedly. It clearly wasn't new and black mold had been growing prominently for a while. The room smelled of it and it was more than a drip. It rained non stop while we were there which was fine except the leak never stopped and got worse and worse. The floor to the laundry room was eventually covered in the yucky moldy water. In order to use the laundry services and tub for the pets, you had to be in and around the moldy water. This isn't acceptable and is a major health violation. Personally I do not believe this property should be rented out until the leak is fixed and the mold situation dealt with. My family left plugged up and sick. I am not happy at all about paying so much money only to deal with such a situation. Also, the front door is extremely hard to lock and unlock and being it is the only door you can lock, I find this unacceptable as well. The house was cute and clean and excellent location. The kitchen could use some help in the utensil and pots and pan department as that really isn't hard to add with stores like Dollar Tree and such now a days. If not for the laundry area and mold issue and door issue, I would stay here again and rate this place better. But I won't mess around with something like that and I should have had the choice before showing up. Call and tell us the situation. Put our credit towards a different place. Something. I will not be renting again from this site unless I am majorly compensated and/or credit for another stay at a DIFFERENT more acceptable place. And please, until the leak and mold is fixed, do not rent this property!!!
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review for us. We sincerely apologize about the leak during your stay; the owners are aware of this leak and will have it fixed first thing in the spring. The Property Manager will inspect for mold and get it all cleaned up so it is not a concern for our guests. We are glad to see that you enjoyed this cute home otherwise!
Joe K. Sep 2015
Nice location and wonderful beach. The house is well appointed, bed comfortable and we had good luck with the weather this last weekend of the summer.
Ray A. Sep 2015
I would recommend this place. for the price, you get what you pay for.
Interior
A little bit old and you can feel it in the design and there are a bunch of holes and wires sticking out. the bathroom was good with lots of towels which is excellent as there were four of us.
the kitchen is big with a set of new dishes/forks etc. but it didnt have a frying pan!
Beds were nice and the bedrooms are decent size.
The dining room was ok sized but the table was high and only had four chairs. if there are more people, it is not impossible to get seating at the table for everyone.

Outside
The BBQ was falling apart and needs replacing/fixing.
The fire pit was one of my fav parts about this place. There is no fire wood supplied but the market across the street sells it for about $8 per cu ft. The area is surounded by walls on three sides which makes it very isolated from the cold ocean wind.
The ocean is a short walk away and it is amazing with beautiful waves. It made the trip amazing being that close to it.
Susan B. Aug 2015
We traveled from Idaho during the massive forest fires to vacation in Rockaway Beach. The house was easy to find and the instructions for accessing the property were easy to follow. We brought our two bulldogs and very much appreciated the fenced yard behind the home (larger dogs may be able to jump the low fence). It was wonderful waking up to the crashing waves and the view of Twin Rocks from the property! The house is located conveniently a couple of blocks away from the middle of town.
We found the house stocked with coffee, coffee grinder and a coffee maker which was a great way to start the day. The windows do not open so you might bring a fan during warmer months to circulate the air during the day. Hopefully the outlets will be fixed in the bathroom or bring a hat to cover up your beach hair! LOL
It was a fun, relaxing vacation that was dictated by no one but ourselves. We enjoyed the WiFi and cable offered during a night we had to stay in. I miss this place already!
Jeramy M. Aug 2015
We were disappointed with the quality of this property. If it weren't for the unbeatable location, we would have felt very let down. Right on the beach, an easy walk to the sand, beautiful views of the ocean and Twin Rocks, and a couple blocks to the main shops/restaurants in Rockaway. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with nearly everything needed to prepare a meal. Having a washer/dryer was very convenient for a family with little kids.

That being said, the property is more than outdated, it's shabby. There were several places where old wiring was sticking out of the wall. There was a large hole in the kitchen wall that was only partially covered. The carpeting and furnishings were worn and stained. The window treatments in the bedrooms didn't block out any light at all. The shower is extremely small and cramped. If you are over 6 feet tall, plan on stooping to take a shower. None of the windows were able to be opened. It was unfortunate that we couldn't listen to the waves or have ventilation during the day. We have two very small children otherwise we would have opened the front and back door to allow for ventilation. The indoor fireplace wasn't working and was blocked by an unattractive electric heater with a fake fire that lit up. There is a gas grill, but we didn't use it because it was filthy when we arrived. Considering it's prime location on the beach, we assumed there would be more outdoor seating/furnishings. Other than two flimsy plastic chairs, there's really nothing else you can sit on to enjoy the view.

This property could suit a couple or a family with older children/teenagers who don't have to worry about childproofing/safety issues. Of course you can't be concerned with modern amenities either. One last point, if anyone in your party still naps, be aware a steam train passes a block away from the house three times a day and blows it's whistle quite loudly as it comes into the Rockaway Beach station. It's neat to watch, and charming at first, but becomes less charming every time your toddlers are woken from their afternoon naps.

We would use Vacasa again, and even stay in Rockaway Beach again, but we would look for other accommodations.

Manager response:
We are very sorry to see that you did not better enjoy your stay. We will investigate the wiring and hole in the wall and make sure they are properly addressed. We will keep your other comments in mind when looking for improvements. We are glad to see that you enjoyed the fantastic location and hope you made terrific memories.
Greg P. Aug 2015
Our family loved our time at Rockaway. It was amazing to us that in a few steps out the back door we were walking on the sand of a beautiful big beach with a view of the majestic 'Twin Rocks'. In fact they can be viewed right from the dining room.

My wife and I found the house quite comfortable. It is an older house and in need of some upgrades and has a few small maintenance issues but if you are willing it is definitely worth the stay.

You can tell the owners have put some work into the house with adding some nice newer furnishings and the hardwood in the dining area in bedroom appears
to be original and gives the place some charm.

You can't beat the location right on the beach. Rockaway as well is in a great central spot only 30 min from Cannon Beach to the north and a few minutes from Tillamook to the south. The house is also situated a short walk from the main business strip of Rockaway. We had a fun time exploring the unique shops. The Sand Dollar restaurant on the beach is a bit on the pricey side but the clam chowder is very tasty

Susan S. Jul 2015
House was exactly as pictured; it was exceptionally clean yet lacked any personalization. I would guess that this house is used for rental purposes only - Personal touches would be nice (add some books; games, etc.). Kitchen was well equipped with dishes and pans; bring your own spices and essentials for recipes.
Great location - I would stay here again!
Katherine J. Jul 2015
This was a perfect place to vacation with our two kids (ages 3 and 6) and our two dogs. I loved that it was beachfront, but the beach itself it set away from the house a bit (maybe 100 feet), which was nice that I didn't need to worry about my 3 year old making a run for the water without me seeing. The path to the beach is flat and easy to walk - no cliffs or rocks to walk over. The house was the perfect size for us and the small fenced yard made things much easier with the dogs. We have short dogs, so it was no problem containing them, but if your dog can get over a 30" gate, you might need to keep a closer eye on them. There is a washer and dryer which is handy, but pack your laundry detergent (I forgot). This place was great...quiet, cozy and had a great cottage feel.
Shirley S. Jun 2015
Great beach access, clean and all the basics are provided. Be sure to bring your own salt and pepper, etc. Cupboards are stocked with dishes and utensils, otherwise they are totally empty. Charming oceanfront garden, great for reading or just enjoying the sea and sky.
