Amazing property. It brought complete and utter happiness to my life while we stayed in Oregon. We would rent again in the future
This place was nicer than the pictures led me to believe. It was clean and well appointed, with an abundance of towels. There is some funkiness to be aware of, such as a lock on the outside of the master bedroom door, and no curtains on any of the sliding glass doors or windows. The wifi shows you get full reception, but it is non-existent.
The property is fantastic with the creek in the backyard, and the entire house is clean and comfortable. If you are looking to be a little ways off the grid with some peace and quiet then this place is absolutely fantastic. It would have just been nice to know that was the case before coming so that we could've been better prepared for that. I would definitely stay here again in the future.
This was a weekend getaway for the family. The home is located 20 minutes from Eugene and about 10 minutes from Springfield. Overall the owners of the home took very good care of the land with plenty of landscaping and trees. The home sits on a seasonal section of the McKenzie River where the main river branches around a small island. This place is a kids paradise with plenty of areas to explore, tree platform and tire swing. There is a a second little kids cottage that looks like it was handmade out of logs. The house became the highlight of the trip. They spent many hours sitting in the little house playing. Must be seen. Overall this was a great stay. If i had to cherry pick something wrong it would be the lock to the master bedroom. The knob is reversed so it can be locked from the outside, this was real fun for my 5 year old. No big deal as we just left via the slider when he got mischievous. Thanks for a great weekend.
This home is well maintained and has very beautiful scenic view. It has all amenities.
Nice older home and setting by the creek.
The house was adorable and clean, and the surrounding property was incredible. Highly recommend for couples or small families looking for a serene getaway
House with plenty of space for all in the party. deck that wraps around to a small house/cabin/quiet area for reading or for the kiddos to go and play. Large back yard that slopes down to a part of the river. lots of bird houses to watch the birds.
I brought my family to this fantastic home. The back yard was excellent. We didn't really know all that was out there and now that we stayed there, we will be more prepared to make better use of our time. There was still plenty to do and my kids still had a great time! We thoroughly enjoyed every second!
Fantastic backyard with a gentle stream with crawdads the kids loved catching. Wheelchair accessible with level front door entry and walk in shower.
Above comments captured the con comments.it was very convenient and the property was adequate for our needs. The staff was helpful when we needed assistance. It was located in a great setting for fishing.
Beautiful, well-furnished home. Large yard with lots of actively occupied bird houses and feeders. Nice, large deck runs the length of the backside of the house. No window coverings on glass doors which open onto the deck from each of three bedrooms. Amenities include washer and dryer. Yard is a bit overgrown.
Also, the house is not on the McKenzie River. There is a shallow creek behind the house. You can explore along and across the creek.
The river is easily accessed by a short car ride up or down the road. Rural yet just a short drive from town.
The house was very clean, quirky with its indoor and outdoor decorations, and so serene. I loved hearing the birds chirping and the river running.
If you're looking for a country location where the drive to Springfield is through the woods and not the city, then this is a wonderful location. It's about 15 minutes to the north end of town (Thurston area) and about 25 to downtown (Springfield High School area for reference). The creek behind the house is beautiful and would be a fun place to play in warm weather (have to watch small children closely, however, as it is quite deep). The deck is very nice (though in need of paint) and had access from the living area and two bedrooms. The location is private and you don't notice the neighbors much at all. The side yard is fenced but likely wouldn't hold a determined dog without some repairs. The back yard slopes down to the creek but is flat at the bottom so there is room to play or sit. There is also a dining table and chairs on the deck and another small table and chairs on the covered porch off the third bedroom. We didn't use the little cabin with the twin beds, but I can see where older children might enjoy using it. It's pretty rustic, but it would be like going to camp. It doesn't have a bathroom so it's just an extra sleeping/playing/hanging out area for kids. The bunk beds have a note on them saying they're for children only. There's no bathroom but it's quite close to the house.
The house, as opposed to the location, is not quite so beautiful. It isn't all bad so I'll give you the positives first. The living/kitchen area is very roomy and has lots of seating and a large TV (with DirectTV). There is also a gas fireplace that worked well and was easy to operate. It warmed the area nicely. The kitchen is a decent size and has a large kitchen island with six stools (four low and two high, perhaps for small kids? Adult legs didn't fit under the island when sitting on the taller stools). I think the kitchen was pretty well stocked for a rental. There were lots of pots and pans, plates, glasses, utensils, etc. They aren't fancy or new, but they are adequate. The fridge was nice and clean and has an ice maker, which was working well when we were there. We only used the stove once, but the burner we used seemed to work just fine. The fan and stove light worked as well. The bedrooms aren't fancy but they are roomy. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was good quality and clean. There were plenty of extra blankets and sheets and lots of pillows. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms worked well for our group. The master bathroom has a walk-in shower, which worked very well for my elderly mother-in-law. She didn't have to try to step over a tub. It is quite large and also had a portable shower stool in it if needed. It is a little dark inside because the stone tile is pretty dark, but with all the lights on it's not hazardous or anything. The counters in the master bath and the hallway bath are large so there's plenty of room for personal items. Each room has its own thermostat so that was convenient as well. The wifi was adequate (but see comment below). So here are some negatives.
The house is showing its age and needs some thorough maintenance and upgrades. The carpet could use shampooing or replacing (though the kitchen wood-look floors were in fine shape). There are several shoddy areas of construction (don't look up in the hallway bathroom shower), and many things that could be fixed. There are holes in the ceilings in several places, the locks on the sliding doors don't work (you have to rely in the pieces of wood in the tracks for locks), the TV in the third bedroom (with the twin beds) is very old and small and we couldn't get the picture to come in. It definitely needs replaced and I've made that suggestion to Vacasa. The bathroom in this bedroom is also quite strange. The toilet is at floor level then there's about an 8-inch step up to a small landing where the sink and shower are. Definitely not particularly safe for small children or people with mobility issues. The sink is quite small so there is not much room to put anything. This end of the house feels as if it's either original and in need of an update or a poorly done garage conversion (also in need of an update).
The first night of our stay the light over the kitchen sink burned out and I couldn't find any bulbs to replace it (though I didn't look too hard as there were other lighting options). The power outlet in the bedroom where the wifi is plugged in quit working our first night as well. We found a power strip and plugged it into the other plug of this same outlet and it worked, which is strange. Seems like they would have both gone out. I've also let Vacasa know about this issue. The shower in the hallway bath squeals terribly and is quite annoying. Couldn't figure out a way to make this stop. The water pressure is also pretty low in that bathroom. The third bathroom in the room with the twins is better in this regard, but it's a pretty small shower. The best shower by far is the one in the master bedroom. It kept my mother-in-law happy so that's saying something.
Overall, the house felt tired and a bit rundown. It wasn't like walking into a nice, new hotel room. If you're not worried about this, then the house is adequate if somewhat of a disappointment. We didn't have any options, and we certainly survived and had a good time. And the location is certainly very pretty. It just would have been nice not to have to deal with the same issues I deal with in my own home, lol.
We appreciate this guest sharing such a thorough review. The power outlet, water pressure, and TV have all been inspected and addressed as needed. Thank you!
Nice house and pretty outside but outside could use some lawn matinence and some stuff picked up.
This vacation rental was more than adequate for the 2 of us and our dog. It is a little off-the-beaten-path but that was exactly what we were looking for. Only a 20-25 min drive into
town but still remote enough to get away and unplug from life so as to truly enjoy a vacation. The cabin offered most everything we needed except for any board games, dominoes, etc. So for those of you with kids, you may want to pack some cards or travel games to keep them busy when they are not running around outside. Otherwise, we found the cabin perfect for our needs.
This house had potential, but did not live up to our expectations. It was cold, poorly lit and furnished, and the management company and owner were unresponsive to our inquiries about the most significant problems. Since there were no reviews posted for the property, I knew it was something of an unknown quantity, but took a chance because it was in the general area we desired and would accommodate my daughter's dog. It turned out to be a disappointment and significantly overpriced for the type of accommodations provided. My biggest issues is that there is no way it should have been represented as a 4-BR house since the 4th BR is a separate, poorly heated cabin with bunkbeds designated from children only. Young children would never be willing to sleep in a separate building with no bathroom and so far away from parents and grandparents. Fortunately, we did not need those beds this week, but we would not have been able to stay there if we had.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to see that the fourth bedroom was a disappointment to you; older children find this space appealing, and it is safe for them to be there. We will advise the owner of your comments regarding the furnishings and lighting. The pellet stove has been repaired so heat should no longer be a problem. We hope you still enjoyed the area!
Property was very nice. on the Mckeinze river. very beautiful. Just be aware that there wont be any Mobile signal, it is complete off grid.
The house was down a long country road, but once we got there it was worth it! It was quite cold so we didn't spend much time outside, but the property is very nice with a stream and plenty of open grassy fields around the home. The rooms were all large and well maintained. We would consider coming back, maybe when it was warmer so we can spend more time outside!
This is a beautiful property! The surroundings are lovely. Note that the cell service is spotty at best. They do have a land line so that you can call out in an emergency, but don't plan on being able to use your cellphone. The wi-fi needs a bit of updating; I was able to sign on with my cellphone but not my computer. When we stayed there it was being worked on and may be fixed by now. There are some excellent trails/parks nearby. If you want a vacation pretty much "off the grid" this is a great place to stay. The decorations are beautiful and very natural. Do note that one of the bedrooms is in a small cabin located about 10 feet from the house. It's adorable, but there is no bathroom, so if it's raining a person would need to go outside in the rain to get to the main house to use the restroom.
