We've stayed at several places along the coast and this Headlands View Home is probably our favorite now. Amazing location is on the edge of a field that you look out on-- so you feel you are close to nature (and you can walk to the sea, so you are)-- yet you can walk a few minutes and get to a coffee shop. The hosts thought of everything, and they even included condiments and spices in the fridge (the only place that had them). There are so many interesting nooks and crannies in this old house that was changed a few times over the decades, and it was a parlor game to try to figure out the archeology of it by looking at the structure of it and different boards on the ceiling. We can tell for example where perhaps 100 years ago there was a staircase that went up from the living room to the floor above the living room (which no longer is a living space but is just an attic). We are still mystified at what decade did the 2nd story get removed? There is a photo that shows it, then other photos that show it missing. Perhaps prior to 1914? Anyways, we love old houses because of the character, and this one is a combination of an old house plus a modern addition. We enjoyed both. The kitchen is modern, don't worry. We loved this place and would come back here in a flash.

It is so wonderful to be able to walk to the Headlands, to Portuguese beach and Big River beach and never get in the car. It is in the town of Mendocino, but on the West side and out of the tourist fray. Lovely views of a sliver of the ocean from a couple of rooms and the yard.

We loved everything about this house. It made it possible for one member of our household to work remotely and privately while allowing the rest of us to take advantage of the great location.
Five minutes to Headlands Trails or five minutes to village, perfect location. We only used the car four times.
The house was in good shape and the kitchen was very user friendly.
A great getaway!

This place is heaven. Its got everything and then some. It rained a few days and we were so happy to stay inside, very cozy with the fireplace, and watch the rain from the beautiful windows everywhere. Sunny days followed with many small trips from the house to tons of headlands walks. We saw whales feeding in the cove each day, literally 2 minutes from the house, as well as a huge Blue Heron circling the yard of the home. We also enjoyed watching a local falcon hunting each day from the windows and yard. The views all around are expansive, with many birds, and the inside feels private and very comfortable. The neighborhood is very quiet too. And if you can, walk to FogEaters cafe for the best vegetarian meal, just a few minutes away. We didnt want to leave. thank you!

Unique location, surrounded by the ocean on three sides. A short walk to town and to the water. The house is perfect for a family with two distinct living areas, each having its own entrance. The house is surrounded by decks and lots of outdoor space.
