Messina Hof does it right! Clean, beautifully decorated cabin that makes you feel tucked away in your own private retreat. We were celebrating our 17th anniversary and this was the perfect place!
The cabin is built to a very high architectural standard and includes beautiful and comfortable furnishings. The leather love seat and king sized 4 poster bed were our favorite places to lay about. The AC is very powerful and can cause shivers in even during the Texas August heat so you don't have to worry about being hot. Keep it set between 72 and 74 and that's all you need. The walk-in shower with 100% tile in the bathroom is an unexpected touch. We loved the soaps and shampoos provided. The cabin water supply is softened and feels silky like a spa. The cabin came with a complimentary bottle of wine, two danish under glass, assorted dry breakfast food, juice, milk, and cream for coffee. The fridge is large enough for several days worth of food and snacks. We brought soft drinks, cheese, crackers, smoked salmon, and chicken salad for snacks and had plenty of room. There are wine glasses and silverware. A microwave and a small sink. Everything needed for a very comfortable getaway. There isn't a stove but you really don't want one because one of the best restaurants in the country, Cabernet Grill, is less than 15 minutes away. Plus there are plenty of breweries (stop by Altstadt and get their excellent chopped steak with a pretzel and fondue), local restaurants, and fast food options five to 10 minutes away. The back view is wilderness and makes it feel like you are way out in the hill country. You get a complementary glass of wine from the tasting room and you can choose anything from the very long list of wines available. As the sun was setting behind the cabin, we set outside on the front porch and enjoyed the breeze and some of our wine and snacks. Early morning is the best time to enjoy the back porch at breakfast. The plantings along the sidewalk to our cabin were flowering and it was a joy to see how well they were being cared for. We highly recommend the Messina cabin but be sure to book early if you want a weekend and be prepared to pay a premium. Great rates are available early in the week so we highly recommend booking Monday through Wednesday outside of the usual holidays and events. You'll still be able to enjoy everything that the 290 wine trail and Fredericksburg have to offer but with far fewer crowds and no wait at the best restaurants. If, like us, you don't know much about wines and want a crash course from a certified sommelier, book a tasting at Kuhlman Cellars. It's just 8 minutes away. Everything we wanted to do was just a short drive from the Messina cabin. We will definitely book a stay here again.
Cottage seemed larger than it looked. All the little unexpected extra's were a surprise. We are from the Heart of the Finger Lakes wine country in New York and found the Texas wineries amazing!
The cabin was so cute, kept up very well, not outdated. There were muffins on the table and mimosas in the fridge and we got a free glass of wine at the winery. It was close enough to Main Street that brunch or dinner was less than a 10 min drive and we were able to get to all the 290 wineries really quickly. I would stay here again, no question, AND rent the other cabins for my friends 😉
We stayed on a Sunday night and felt like we were the only ones there. The back patio provided a view of trees and deer, the bed & furnishings were comfortable, and the bottle of wine in the room was a nice touch. It was a perfect quick & quiet getaway to celebrate our 30 year anniversary.
This was the perfect place for our weekend get away, it was quite, isolated and perfect for just my wife and I. The cottage was better than a hotel room for it is not sharing any walls so no noise from the neighbors, you can come and go without disturbing anyone else as well. It was very close to the main strip of town, but most of all it was peaceful.
Perfect place for a weekend getaway.
My wife and I only stayed for one night but the place was awesome, beautiful and the tranquility of the country is what we were looking for. I’m recommending it to people right now and I will go back.
This place is class-all the way. Luxurious decor, primo soaps, coffee, and a beautiful breakfast coffee cake. Oh yes, wine glasses and a first rate corkscrew.
Early morning, from the back porch, we watched a big buck and two doe walk through the property.
Planning our next visit.
This is a wonderful cabin for a romantic get-away wine weekend. You can grab a bottle of wine and enjoy it on your front or back porch. After a luxurious night's sleep, you can start the next day with mimosas. What more could you ask for?
The staff were very friendly at the shops up front and the room was immaculate. I loved how comfy everything was. Perfect for a quick get away to Fredericksburg. Also the late checkout was very much appreciated. We were in wine country after all. :)
The cabin exceeded our expectations- very clean, convenient and a great location to other wineries.
Spent a 3 day weekend with my girl at the Messina house. The cottage was perfect for the occasion. Very quiet and beautiful inside and out. We loved it was just a short walk to the winery and we took advantage of it on all three days. We hated to leave, but will DEFINITELY be coming back. We’re already trying to decide which weekend we want to come back on.
THE MOST RELAXING AND WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY .WALKING AROUND TOWN SHOPPING DRINKING WINE VISITED THE TRAILS SIGHT SEEING AND MEETING WONDERFUL HAPPY FOLKS . THIS WAS A GORGEOUS CABIN FELT LIKE I WAS IN ITALY. LOVEED THE STAY AND HOPE TO COME BACK SOON.
Walked over to the winery and enjoyed the tastings.
Loved the Messina Hof Cabin! Such easy check in! Comfy bed, great shower! Very nice little kitchen area with coffee, cream, tea packs, popcorn & the danish was wonderful! Enjoyed our bottle of bubbly on our back patio watching the birds! Only thing we wished for was for a TV in the sitting area for those of us who like to get up early or stay up later! We will return!
Watched wildlife from our back porch....very comfy bed, complimentary wine, and delicious sweet rolls for breakfast
Secluded and quiet. Great location close to town and restaurants.
This was my second time to stay at Messina Hof. I love the accommodations, location and the especially the pastries waiting on the counter. Highly recommend!
I loved everything about this cabin. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place that was quiet and luxurious. We got just that! Its certainly worth every penny. Very comfortable bed, awesome shower and we also enjoyed the porch in the front out back. We loved it overall and the at home feel is rare to find these days. Five stars!
Nice atmosphere and very relaxing.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Messina Cabin! It was gorgeous and very comfortable. We will definitely be back!
Very quaint and clean cabana. Perfect spot to enjoy the wineries and Texas hill country.
This is a lovely cabin just behind a winery so it's pretty hard to beat! My boyfriend and I stayed for a night and would definitely go back.
-The cabin is very comfortable. No complaints!
-We both got free wine tastings because we were staying in one of the cabins.
-Our cabin came with a bottle of champagne, orange juice, and one of the best breakfast cakes I've ever eaten.
-Dinner has really annoying to figure out. We stayed at a winery specifically because we wanted to indulge and didn't want to worry about driving. Unfortunately, there's not really food at the winery (they have some wine/cheese plates but nothing substantial) and restaurants are generally unwilling to deliver to that location (we tried). There's a taxi company called Top Dog that will pick up ordered food for you, and that's what we ended up using. However, it took them a long time to get our food and was pretty expensive. It was hard to figure out ahead of time what our food options were (one review mentioned food trucks, which we did not see, and there was nothing on Messina Hof's website about food availability), so it would be nice if that were stated more clearly.
I don't want to focus too much on the food issue because our stay really was great. You just need to plan ahead!
Being able to see the stars
Very nice layout with a big bedroom and separate living room. Cozy!!
My wife and I loved our stay in the Messina Cabin. The cabin was beautiful, cozy and clean. We also received complementary bottle of sparkling wine from the Messina Hof winery and a free wine tasting. We will definitely look to stay here again on our next trip to Fredericksburg.
In today's world its very hard to live up expectations...
Messina Hoff hill country not only did this but exceeded our expectations in every aspect..
We had a hint the second we pulled in and another guess stopped us before we could park telling us how impressed he was.
We will be back the first chance we get!!
The individual cottages at Messina Hof winery are superb. They have high-ceilings and wood beams, large ceiling fans, stunning bathroom decor, and the show-stopper 4 poster bed. We loved the peace and quiet of the back patio, and the convenience to Fredericksburg without being right in town. A nice touch is a bottle of sparkling wine for you to enjoy! We only stayed one night, but we will be back again for a longer stay.
The cottage is really comfortable and a great place to stay after enjoying an evening wine tasting at the winery.
We loved our cabin. It was clean, cozy, and the bed was very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the bottle of champagne in our room and the complimentary coffee cake. We weee even given a free wine tasting at the winery! Definitely recommend this location for a little getaway.
Really enjoyed the look and feel of this place. It was like coming home to your own house! Plus, it was cheaper to stay here than a normal hotel. No one bugs you and it just flat out relaxing.
Overall the stay was great. Would like to see a little variety/more hearty breakfast.
When we first arrived it was nice looking, except for the growing weeds around the cabins and sidewalks. Inside was nice, beautiful decor but we got greeted by a spider on the door, a lizard in the room by the bed and a dead baby scorpion, that came from the closet after getting another pillow. We also noticed that housekeeping doesn’t dust because there was a lot of dust on the picture frames, inside the lamps and also on the drapes that hung on our canopy bed. Housekeeping never came back after we asked them to and we didn’t have fresh linen for the next day. So our overall stay was not so pleasant nor romantic! Hope to receive better service in the future (if we ever decide to come back!) Note: no pics of the bugs because I was so upset, forgot to take them!
Due to being in the country, these cabins do get bugs. We apologize this was so upsetting to our guest. We have discussed dusting with housekeeping and have a deep clean scheduled in the near future. Our housekeepers only visit the units once a day, so please advise them of any of your needs at that time as they have 70+ homes to take care of. Thank you!
We rented two cottages for a girl's trip, and it was perfect! Loved the location and the cottage; and really liked being in a cottage vs. a hotel room.
The house was very nice! Very clean and well kept! It was a very nice get away and their was never any noise! Room amenities were incredible. Coffee cake in the morning was delicious. And the price was very good deal compared to any of the hotels. This house is a much better deal than staying in a hotel in town. Would recommend to anyone!
Fantastic coffee cake in the morning! Beautiful and cozy room.
We booked a cabin at Messina Hof for a weekend trip and I'm so glad we did not stay at a conventional hotel. The cabins themselves are just gorgeous, very comfortable beds, very clean, and with a nice sitting area both indoors and out. We enjoyed one evening and both mornings sitting outside. The ability to walk up to tasting room and buy wine was very nice. Because it is outside of downtown Fredericksburg, there is no trouble dealing with crowds or parking. My only suggestions would be to trying to improve the breakfast a bit more (although the coffee cake was delicious) and placing a bin for recycling in the room.
The maids weren’t finished cleaning at the 4 o’clock check in time. Otherwise, the stay was great! Really cute room, delicious breakfast, and the complimentary sparkling wine was delicious. We will definitely come back if we do this again!
Beautiful, clean little cabin tucked behind the winery at the edge of the woods was perfect for us. Since it was located near the most popular wineries we could enjoy the tasties without worrying about driving far afterwards. Cabin was nicely appointed and the breakfast items much appreciated too!
The cottage was just as amazing as it looked online. Quite, peaceful, elegant, couldn't have asked for a better place for a romantic weekend!
We stayed two nights in two cabins (our original cabin was already booked the second night). The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast of sweet rolls, cereal, milk, and juice was adequate for us. I do think that the coffee systems need to be upgraded or replaced more regularly. Customer service was very helpful with our last minute bookings and very responsive to our emails, and we enjoyed our free tasting at the tasting room. Recommend!
Surprisingly not busy and overcrowded. Gorgeous cabin and amenities. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Located only a few minutes from Main St. wasn’t well lit when returning at night which was concerning for two women and overpriced for a night, not on main st.
You will enjoy your stay here. We did!
I was on business, and tired of staying in corp style hotels, so I walked into a B&B booking site in Fredericksburg and spoke with Tiffany. What a wonderful change of environment! She booked me a large room surrounded with oak trees, and flower beds, no noise, a private deck out front, and in the back. The wildlife just outside my door; birds, deer, rabbits, even an armadillo just made my stay memorable. This B&B is not for couples only- I got a lot of work done and relaxed completely. The room, food, and the winery next door...I'll be back, with or with out my wife!
The Messina Hof cabin was very well kept with a porch in the front protected from rain with table and chairs to sit relax and enjoy more wine! A patio in the back facing trees and woods was really very nice to relax. The closest restaurant is about a mile away at Grape Creek winery but only open until I believe 7:30pm. Otherwise a 10 mile ride to town. We thought the rule of washing the dishes before check out was a bit much especially when paying $250-275 a night. We did enjoy the cabin for relaxing, quietness and seclusion.
The property is isolated so need to drive for food etc. Make sure you have received the entry code to your property before you arrive as they are managed by a managing agent and not the winery.
Private and romantic....great location.
My sister and I went to Fredericksburg for some shopping, wine tasting, and girl time. We planned it last minute and found the villas at the Messina Hof winery last minute. We couldn’t have been more pleased!
The property is private, well appointed and clean. We did a two day get away and really enjoyed it.
Very nice! Good location next to winery and not to far out of Fredericksburg .
My wife and I were blown away by this property. The check in/ out process was very convenient and the property was amazing. The cottage was very clean and the amenities were great. We would definitely stay here again.
Visit Luckenbach, TX. for sure, it was something on my bucket list (sounds silly I know) but I went and loved it. I would also take time to tour the Garrison Brothers Bourbon Distillery if you like bourbon....or even if you don't, it was a great experience. Downtown Fredericksburg is awesome, suggest lunch at Hondo's on Main on your way in or out. Lastly do a wine tasting at the Messing at the Messina Hof on location, great fun and actually learned a little bit about wine I never knew. The room was perfect, could not have asked for anything better. So much better than staying at a hotel of any rating. Very private cabins yet still local to everything. Great get away for our 10 year celebration.....Happy wife, Happy life. The staff did a great job on the room, never bothered us. The best part was the replacing of the homemade pastry. We finished the one that was in the room at check-in and were happily surprised when we got to our room that night and a new one was there.....great midnight snack after some wine on the porch.
Wonderful stay. Everything was perfect!
Pleasantly surprised. Peaceful and quiet
Although I was there only a briefly due to my work schedule, I found the cottage relaxing, well furnished, and the view outstanding. The staff worked diligently to make me feel comfortable and helped me explore their wonderful wines. I look forward to visiting again.
Will definitely stay again.
Thanks for an outstanding visit for out 40th wedding anniversary.
We enjoy your the lodge, the wine and the great area.
The cabins were amazing and centrally located. Highly recommend.
My wife and I would greatly recommend a stay here if you are visiting the area. The Messina Hof cabins are close enough to everything, but makes you feel like you are secluded.
The room and amenities were nice. I would suggest some trees fencing and maybe some water features to reduce road noise. Also take quick showers for the water heater didn't supply more than 10 minutes of hot water.
This little concrete cottage is just the thing if you want to stay a little further from town. Its clean and right on the Mesina Hof Vineyard property. It is close to the road, you can hear and see the highway traffic from the cabins. The Vineyard does close a little earlier than anticipated, so make sure you get in the wine tasting- which was wonderful! We had some difficulty with hot water and noise, but overall- a great stay if you're looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle.
Highly recommend this property for Texas wine country
The cabins are so charming ...like they are secluded.. it was a lovey coyote of days
Loved our stay. We enjoyed sparkling wine and beautiful weather on the patio. Loved the food truck on site the Saturday we stayed. Cabins were cozy, clean and very roomy.
Will definitely stay here again!!!
We only stayed one night and wished we could stay longer. Beautiful grounds and private cottages. We liked everything about our stay from the fluffy towels to the comfortable bed.
Beautiful peaceful getaway, thank you for the experience. Will recommend to our friends.
This is a great location! The coffee cake is really good! If you want a full breakfast this isn't the place for you. Also it says a pot of coffee but its a Keurig and its the kind with coffee grounds so you have to clean it each time. Just bring your own and website says you get a bottle of sparkling wine - well you don't although I pointed it out and they did give us a bottle. Room was very clean and housekeeping did a good job. Room was quiet no road noise. I think for the price and no hot breakfast maybe a little over priced but we had a good time!
Short and sweet...don't look at any other lodging choices unless you need to be in town. Period.
My fiancé and I came up for her birthday. The location is wonderful. The fact of being so close to the winery was excellent, plus the perks. The excellent bartender at Messina Hof, Meagan, was very knowledgeable on the wines and surrounding area and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. We would definitely come back to this location again.
I have always stayed at Messinahof Bryan College Station. Even on Sundays something going on... I would have been better off staying in Fredericksburg.
Its next to a countertop company? Help me Lord!
It was a quick get away, but we enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very clean and quiet.
This place was fantastic! Worth the distance from mainstreet. Very relaxing and clean.
Great getaway for an extended weekend.
Celebrated our 16th anniversary and had a blast! Clean and convenient!
Great location, fresh Danish each day. Cabin cleaned each day.
Quiet, deer were right in the back of the property in the morning.
Don't let the 10 minute drive out of town scare you, the drive is worth it, plus you pass many of the wineries you would be visiting. The staff at Messina Hof Winery was super friendly. Can't wait to make the trip back!
Quiet, clean, and convenient. We had a great time.
We had a great time and very nice accommodation. Definitely planning another trip.
Great place to get away! We really liked staying here!
The house was perfect and the bottle
Of delicious champagne was the best welcome gift. Our view into the woods and of the pond out back was gorgeous to look at as we sipped our wine from the winery 10 steps away.
Just loved this place! This was my first trip to Fredericksburg and the Wineries. Loved every minute of it. Very nice accomodations!
Lovely little cottages in a quiet setting.
Overall the cabins were nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much. We would stay here again.
I would highly recommend this quaint and quiet retreat.
