Downtown dog-friendly home, walk to restaurants, breweries, the river & more!

Are you in search of a classic and convenient home base for your next Hood River escape? This one-bedroom craftsman bungalow offers plenty of space for a couple of fun-loving couples, dog-friendly accommodations, and an ideal location right downtown.

Nestled in a residential neighborhood in central Hood River, this single-level home sits on a street with peek-a-boo views of the Columbia River. You'll be just blocks from Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom and Full Sail Brewing Company, one mile from Hood River Waterfront and Port Marina Parks, and a short walk from restaurants, shops, and yoga studios.

This cozy home is well-loved and ultra comfortable, and is over 100 years old! Well-worn hardwood floors are complemented by nice furnishings. After a day of windsurfing on the river or hiking in the Gorge, you'll enjoy getting cozy with WiFi and a wall-mounted flatscreen TV with Netflix streaming (please note, however, that there is no cable service).

Take a quarter-mile walk each morning to enjoy a homemade breakfast at Egg River Cafe - or prepare your own dishes in the well-equipped kitchen. You'll have full-size appliances and plenty of cabinet space for your groceries, as well as a high-top dining table with seating for two.

And there's no reason to leave your furry best friend at home - The Flying Squirrel welcomes as many as two dogs (for a small nightly fee) and even has a mud room and a private washer/dryer to help keep everyone clean.

With one bedroom and one full bathroom, this Hood River bungalow will comfortably accommodate as many as four people. The bedroom features a queen-size bed with a colorful coverlet, while the cozy bathroom has a tub/shower combination. A sofabed offers additional sleeping space.

As one of the most famous windsurfing destinations in the country, Hood River has long been a magnet for water sports enthusiasts, hikers, and cyclists alike. You'll have your choice of downtown recreational outfitters if you want to take a windsurfing lesson or rent kayaks, bikes, or wet suits, and you'll find convenient beach and swimming access at Hood River Waterfront Park.

Spend a day making the scenic ascent of Dog Mountain just 13 miles west on the Washington side of the Columbia River. Or, follow the Hood River Fruit Loop to discover acres upon acres of apple orchards, pear orchards, and farm stands selling delicious local jams and produce.

Plan a weekend full of hiking, windsurfing, and beer-tasting - this simple and inviting Hood River bungalow will make you feel right at home!

Everything as described and expected. Would recommend a 1000%. Woosh!!

The location is great and this home had everything you’d need for a week/weekend away. The appliances were outdated, but everything worked just fine. We were easily able to walk to town and it’s just a quick drive to some other breweries, etc. I’d recommend it to a friend.

Great stay at The Flying Squirrel. 5 minute walk to downtown. Great size for Mom Dad and 11 year old son who slept on pullout. It was clean and stocked- we will stay here again when we make it back to Hood River.

This house was so adorable and perfect for our quick trip to hood river. Great location, walking distance to downtown. Views of the water and he house had everything we needed. Only complaint is it was a very hot weekend. There’s an air unit in the bedroom but was difficult for our friends staying on the pull out couch.

Quiet small house within walking distance of Town. Brought our Roku was able to watch movies on the tv. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. Great stay and will most likely come again in the spring. A keeper in our book for a return visit.

This is a charming little house within walking distance of just about everything in Hood River. Just be ready to figure things out for yourself or do not go when it is cold.
Manager response:
We are happy to assist our guests if they give us a call. Thank you!

We had a great fall stay in the Flying Squirrel. The owners have accommodated all that a visitor would need. It is located in a quiet area that is close to downtown. The bed is comfortable and we loved the remodeled bathroom. We will definitely stay there again next time we visit Hood River.

The home was lovely and well maintained. The location was great, short walking distance to town to take advantage of the breweries and the wine. My girlfriend and I had a great stay and plan on staying at this location again. It’s perfect for a couple.

We loved the house and had a great stay. The location is ideal for those looking to walk to breweries, shops or the waterfront.

Very pleased with this place! I was a little late to book and was pleasantly surprised to find a great location like this. This house was very walkable to bars and breweries downtown. The house itself is sized perfectly for 3 or 4 people. Lots of room on the inside. The bathroom is probably the nicest room. It's great to have a nice, updated, and clean bathroom when traveling.

Still think we live in a world where basic free TV and decent pillows are necessary for a 2 nite $383 stay.

Went there for 3 days with our toddler between Christmas and New Year. Cute little house walk-in distance from downtown, shops, breweries, restaurants, etc. Great view of the river and mountains as well. Nice house to relax by a nice fireplace, which was necessary as it got quite cold during our stay. Overall happy with the house and location.

The home was perfect. The location was perfect. It has everything you need and you can explore the entire region with ease from here. There was nothing better after a day of exploring than coming "home", getting cleaned up, then walking down to the brew pubs downtown.

We came in for a 2 night stay at the Flying Squirrel and were very pleased with the location and quality of the little home. The size was perfect for the 2 of us and liked having the kitchen to do breakfasts in the morning. Everything was described well from the website. We would recommend this for anyone staying in Hood River.

Good location, walking distance from village, older home nicely decorated. Stayed 3 nights on my own, seemed like a safe neighborhood. Comfy bed. Well equiped kitchen. Bathtub needs new caulking. Overall happy experience

Love the old character mixed with the cute trendy modern touches! Great location and perfect for a short getaway!

Price, location, amenities were all great. Was just what we were looking for on our 3 day trip to Hood River. Centrally located to downtown and close to wineries, breweries and restaurants.
Jessica R. Aug 2016
This little home had everything we needed to enjoy Hood River. Great location and was comfortable.
Valerie B. Jul 2016
Location is great, but home needs some love. Shower is awful. Dirty and barely a shower head with very little pressure. Stains all over bath tub. Trim throughout house is dirty and moldy. Floors left out feet black. Needs a bit more TLC and then could be an amazing rental,
Manager response:
The water pressure has been tested and the trim has been wiped down. We will keep the bathtub/shower in mind for future updates.
