We had a small wedding in Yosemite for my son and rented 2 homes for the families. It was accessible for our elderly parents which made it really nice. Forest Lookout is a great location across the street from the lake. 3 min walk from the beach. The beach was quiet and really clean. The house was well stocked and gave us plenty of room for 8 people. The deck was great for hanging out in the evenings. It is about 1.5 hours to Yosemite Valley floor.

We had the best experience during our stay at Forest Lookout. The house was beyond clean and accommodated all our needs. As we are picture puzzle advocates, we enjoyed the variety of puzzles offered although we did not have enough time to finish the puzzle we had chosen. The views are spectacular and spent as much time as possible enjoying them. The journey to Yosemite was another great adventure and the drive was beyond scenic. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. We will most assuredly be visited there again.

We loved the location, close to the lake, spacious house. Nice décor. Beautiful deck and patio. Easy check in.

Things that could be improved:
More supplies. Trash bags, cooking spice basics (salt & pepper), oil etc.... We bought and left some there for others. More towels. Laundry detergent. Downstairs bed wash mush too old and squeaky. Dog hair everywhere (balls) on furniture. Carpets in main room needs cleaning or replacement - stained and dog stuff everywhere. A canoe or water items for the lake (since off season you can't rent anything).
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Norma. We are happy to hear that you had a good stay overall. To clarify, we provide our guests with a starter kit of supplies. This includes cleaning supplies, toiletries, and paper products. Once these supplies run out it is the responsibility of our guests to provide any additional supplies throughout the remainder of their stay. Supplies are re-stocked before each guest. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your time with us. We will make sure that the home is thoroughly deep-cleaned to address the pet fur. Thank you for booking with Vacasa!

Great location. Plenty of room for the family. 30 minute drive to Yosemite entry gate. Hour drive to Yosemite Valley. Will stay here again.
Tara C. Feb 2021
We chose this home at the very last minute when our other rental became unavailable (not at the fault of Vacasa). I was hesitant but am so glad we chose this home.

- Arrival at the gate: we checked in with no problem but the fee was not $35 it was $40.

-Arrival at the house: Found the lock box ok but was one we have never seen before. Tip: the door on the lockbox will open, not the actual lock itself.

In the home: I was worried the kids would not be able to access their online classes because of the description that says no steaming for the internet. I believe this has been updated. There was a Roku with Netflix enabled, we logged in with our Amazon Prime account and were able to watch movies. We weren't very familiar with Roku so had to do some searching for local news and live TV but eventually found it. There is a DVD player but we didn't use it. There were a few puzzles and chess board but didn't find the pieces for chess. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, pans, bowls, mugs, glasses, dishes, etc. Double oven for those cooking on vacation which we did. Plan on bringing your everthing you need for cooking. There was a salt and pepper shaker and a few salad topping items left behind.Groveland is a small town, not many places to eat. There's a grocery store nearby that seems to have a little of everything. Even firewood. The home did have firewood near the parking spaces but we were unsure if we were allowed to use it. I sent a message to Vacasa but got a response the next day since they had to check with the owner. Maybe this should be something Vacasa should have in their notes for future winter rentals. There is one room with a bathroom downstairs, and three bedrooms on the main level along with the kitchen and two more full bathrooms. Extra blankets and pillows were provided, plenty of towels. There are no curtains/blinds in the living room or kitchen. The house sits on a hill so no one can really look in, just something to know and be aware of.
-Outside the home: the wrap around patio was the best. Bbq grill was provided. Many options for seating, table to eat breakfast or enjoy coffee. Couch and chairs with cushions. This house is directly across the street from the lake but it's hidden because of the trees, hence the name Forest Lookout :) Steep hill to get to the parking spaces for the house as mentioned in their notes.
Overall: great option for a large family or up to 4 couples. Clean home and basic hotel amenities (soap, tp, paper towels, etc.)

All in all we were pleased with the home itself. No issues.

The customer service of Vacasa, however, was disappointing. We arrived on time, but the lockbox code was wrong. We ended up getting pretty stressed out trying multiple ways to contact Vacasa. Finally, after a long wait we heard they had sent the wrong code and they sent a new one. This is pretty poor management. We were disappointed by this and the tight provisions of things like dishwasher powder. Why do that and force a guest to go out and buy a big box they'll never use and can't carry on a flight home. At the prices paid that is ridiculous.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Larry. We apologize for the service issues impacting your visit. While our guest services team has experienced an unprecedented demand in light of the developing global health crisis, we are continuing to adapt and adjust our efforts to best meet the needs of our guests. We hope to host you for a great vacation in the future.

Forest Lookout was Great, plenty of space for 6 or more, including one lower level getaway bedroom. Laundry was helpful for our hiking stuff, kitchen was great. The gas grill needs a good cleanup however. Overall really nice!

Très beau emplacement top lieu top

Forest Lookout is a wonderful 4-bedroom rental. Our entire family really enjoyed that the home was spacious and that we were able to spread out once we were home from long days at Yosemite. Two mornings we had breakfast on the wrap-around deck, that was also so appreciated in the evenings. Too, we all like to cook, so the open floor plan was perfect for a substantial meal for dinner as well as making lunches for our next-day adventures. While we were not renting long enough to take advantage of Pine Mountain Lake, we were happy to see it right at the foot of the driveway, as well as to know that the marina was just a short distance down the road. The management company was very attentive to a couple of minor needs we had. This is always a plus when vacation time is limited. Forest Lookout is a great stay, and well worth returning to.

The house was great! Will book again if we go back to Groveland area.
Davitta H. Jul 2019
This was a great central area. The home was immaculate. Stocked well with all essentials. We visited Yosemite, Sacramento and San Francisco. We also just stayed at the lake relaxing for two days! This is a must book home for your stay in this area!
Debra Z. Jul 2019
The home is right across from the lake and it is a beautiful 4 bedroom home with three baths. It is perfect for 4 couples. I would recommend you bring additional paper products.
Hoangmy N. Jun 2019

Great home to spend the week with my 3 adult children. Lovely home, very clean. It is located about 1 hour outside of Yosemite National Park, wish it had been a little closer.
Julie S. Oct 2018
We loved this house. The space was great, and the house is lovely and clean and modern. We didn’t want to leave. Also had a lovely afternoon in the pool. Nice and clean and warm enough even though it’s October. If we came back to this area I would definitely check if this house is available. Thank you!
Coen B. Jul 2018
Short walk to the lake fully equipped beautiful view comfortable beds...just an amazing house
Dennis M. Jul 2018
We’ve visited Pine Mountain Lake for many years and this home ranks as one of our favorite rentals. The location is great, very near one of the smaller beaches - literally across the street. Perfect for the weekend when you can’t park at the Marina beach or for a night swim.

The house is well appointed and had everything we needed. There is ample outdoor seating and a nice & new gas bbq grill on the deck. We even had a few deer visitors each evening!

I would recommend this home for a family or group of friends looking for a large and comfortable home right near the lake.
Chris C. Jul 2018
Home is great, really close to one of the beaches, remodeled to perfection, everything you need for a great vacation at pine mountain lake
Denise C. Jun 2018
We stayed in Groveland for 5 days with the intent of visiting Yosemite a few times and just having time to relax. We had so much fun. The house was beautiful, and completely lived up to our expectations. The lake was literally across the street. The deck was amazing and offered a nice view. The kitchen came fully stocked with the necessities (minus food of course). The bed in the room downstairs was so comfortable. (I like soft beds.) The town was charming and had everything we needed: grocery store, restaurants, and a gas station. I highly recommend this home. I would definitely stay here again.
Maria P. Jun 2018
Close to Yosemite
NOreen W. Jun 2018
This is a well decorated and appointed home. It has everything you need inside and out for your family's stay in Groveland. Vacasa was easy to work with and the house was clean and ready for us when we checked in.
Masha F. Aug 2017
Location is great - close to the lake beach and private at the same time.
Floor plan giving both kids and adults their space. Another convenience - 3 baths.
House is furnished with consideration to the needs of big family.

Vacasa offered a postponed departure option which added to our 2 week stay with young kids and helped with unstressful departure.
Johnna M. Aug 2017
We were so impressed by this rental home! Beautiful, updated, open concept living with outdoor decks, relaxing setting and lake amenities. We could not have been happier with our stay here!
Nathen S. Aug 2017
Beautiful quite lake enviroment. Market and restaurants near by. Deers are playing around and our kids loved it. House was very clean well maintained and well equiped. The details in this house was highly built. We felt kind of luxury.
Feel so safety since it was located inside gate community.
Timothy G. Jul 2017
Great home and location. Our grown up children loved the vacation.
Kathleen H. Jul 2017
Perfect for our group of eight. Right across the street from the beach. However bed in the master is very hard.
Paul F. Jun 2017
Couple of beds were squeaky but was a nice place
Dianne M. Jun 2017
This house was fantastic as it was very clean, super kept up and perfect for the 4 couples. The outdoor decks were spacious and had great tables and chairs as well as an outdoor gas grill. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked well. Just FYI, there are no spices or cooking ingredients so make sure to bring your own. It is right across the street from the beach which we loved for an afternoon swim. I would highly recommend this home!!
Chelsea A. Sep 2016
I have come to PML for many years this was one of my favorite houses so far. I appreciated the nice kitchen and open loving area. It was great that two if the bedrooms had private bathrooms. It was a great stay and we stay at this house again.
