Dog-friendly, welcoming classic beach cottage with water views!

This warm, inviting and recently renovated Rockaway Beach getaway sits on the west side of Highway 101, just across a quiet street from miles of sandy beach. Perfect for memorable family vacations, this three bedroom cottage is filled with cozy charm and nestled between a natural wetland pond and the ocean in the popular southern area of town. From the moment you first drive up, you'll be charmed by the beachy exterior and big front porch, complete with Adirondack chairs for sitting back and relaxing with a morning cup of coffee!

Once inside, there's ample coastal character, with ship replicas on the mantle, a white paneled ceiling, and seashells decorating the tables; but, you'll also find a touch of traditional style courtesy the oriental rugs and hardwood floors. There's a colorful brick wood fireplace so bring some wood with you, cable TV with DVD player, comfy seating, and room for the whole family to spread out and watch a movie or find their own quiet place to curl up with a good book.

The full kitchen is well-stocked with all the appliances, pots and pans, dishes, cooking utensils, and dinnerware you need to serve a group of hungry beachcombers. Pick up some fresh seafood at the market and whip up a delicious fish dinner in no time! There's even a dishwasher for easy clean-up. The full sized washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen and ready for your wet beach clothes after a day of exploring.

A formal dining room has ample seating for meals or there's plenty of space on the back deck to have an outdoor feast. Accessed through a glass door from the kitchen, the deck is outfitted with an outdoor table and patio umbrella for shade. After spending the day at the beach, fire up the gas grill and cook up some juicy burgers for a laid back summer barbecue. And after the kids have gone to bed, you can spend cool, clear evenings on the deck with a glass of wine.

This home has three bedrooms and one full bath, all located on one level. Two of the bedrooms contain trundle day beds, each with its own collection of colorful throw pillows. With flexibility in mind, these beds can convert into two twin sized beds, perfect for two younger kids to share a room, or stay as a single twin bed for an older child. These rooms are decorated pleasingly for maximum comfort, with dressers, reading lamps, and soft bedding. The couch in the living room converts to a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed for extra sleeping options.

The third bedroom has a full sized bed with a cozy comforter, bedside table, reading lamp, and a window that lets in lots of natural light. It has a vintage, vintage-chic feel that will have its occupants feeling soothed and contented in no time. With its three bedrooms, this cute little cottage will sleep six. It's also dog-friendly as well, so bring your furry family member along for some quality time playing in the surf for an additional fee.

While this cottage is definitely welcoming and very comfortable, one of the best features is its prime location. Right off the back patio and yard is a large, natural wetland pond with lily pads, aquatic plants, and other scenic features. A very relaxing afternoon can be had watching the kids play in the back or being on the lookout for great blue herons out in the pond.

With beach access right across the street, you are literally steps from miles of pristine sandy beach. Spend the day building sand castles, flying kites, looking for shells, or simply laying out under a big umbrella. The cottage is also located only a half mile north of one of the most recognizable views in Rockaway Beach: Twin Rocks. Be sure to bring your camera for some stunning sunset pictures starring this geologic feature.

Want a little change from all the peacefulness of your beach cottage? Head about a mile north and hit the quaint downtown area for shops, restaurants, and galleries. Stock up on local saltwater taffy and handcrafted fudge at The Picnic Basket, or maybe start the day with a hearty homemade breakfast at the Whale Spout.

For a fun day trip, drive north up the coast stopping at Wheeler for a little antiquing, Manzanita for lunch at Bread and Ocean, then onto Cannon Beach for an afternoon of hiking in Ecola State Park or gallery-hopping along the picturesque downtown streets.

If you're ready to make some family vacation memories on the Oregon coast, come enjoy this cute and cozy Cottage by the Sea!

*Please note that to provide you more comfort, this charming vacation rental has a heat pump which will truly make a difference in the winter months.

The cottage is cozy and quaint , authentically historical. The kitchen and bath were sufficiently updated so as to be effecient and very clean.
We have stayed in much more modern and ‘fancy‘ places but usually found the kitchen tools and implements to be lacking. Cottage by the sea had everything we need and I really appreciate having decent pans to cook with. We thought there were no tongs, but kept opening drawers and found not one but three. Thank you!
Location to the beach was a very short walk. Perfect

Decor and nice kitchen.

Very nice cottage that is very well decorated with very though out details! Really enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed the easy access to the beach. The decor was appropriate to the house, vintage/garden/beach style. While it is clear the home is old, it is well maintained, clean and very guest friendly. We appreciate being able to bring our puppy and the yard was great for our daughter to explore. The view of the pond satisfied our need to be near the water when the beach was too windy. Comfortably with one bathroom, it is good for a group of 4 but can sleep a couple more. We appreciated being able to shut the bedroom doors and keep the main living area warm. The large fireplace was especially wonderful for warmth and coziness.

The location, history and layout of the house is nice, but it is hard to appreciate any of that when the mattress in the main bedroom is awful (lopsided & squishy). Also, the TV didn't work (screen would flash off & on) and there were rusty screws exposed on a piece of outdoor furniture.
Manager response:
We certainly understand that guests have specific and discerning tastes when it comes to the firmness of a mattress. The owners had recently added a new mattress before this reservation. A new bed frame was installed since then. The TV was in perfect working order but detailed instructions have been added for ease of use. Thank you.

This is a very quaint house. Well stocked bathroom & kitchen, although the kitchen could use a toaster. If you have AT&T as your cell provider, you will not be able to use your phone. We were able to use our T-Moble phone. Internet worked really well. The water pressure in the shower wasn't that great & we ran out of hot water after a 15 minute shower. The tub/shower is raised, so my friend FELL while trying to get out of the shower. The 2 roads to get to the house off of the highway are FULL of potholes. There is a train that goes back & forth during the day that is VERY loud. It does not run at night, however.
These are the reasons that I won't rent this house again:
I could not use my phone.
The water pressure in the shower sucked.
The queen bed was not very comfortable.

Older home with good kitchen & nice big fireplace. Two blocks from the beach.

We had a very extended stay at the cabin waiting for our house to be ready to move into. If you want a cool old place with not a lot of frills but plenty of character this is the place. Loved the old place. Very comfortable.

Great property and a good time was had by my wife and I.

This little cottage is a perfect location for a quiet, private getaway to enjoy the beach. There is a little noise from hwy 101 on the back patio but not noticeable on the sweet front porch or in the house. It is close enough for quick walks on the beach or just to run out in the dark and enjoy the stars. The general condition of the house took me back to my rundown childhood home with some deferred maintenance. The location makes up for a lot as the charms of rockaway beach and twin rocks are amazing. A little brush clearing would be nice so we could see the pond with its lilies and swooping swallows in at least a small area. In summary a fine little beach house if you are not expecting modern, but clean and with comfortable spaces, a bit shabby for the price.

Rockaway is a great beach for walking- nice long uninterrupted stretch of beach.
This cottage is in a nice central location.
Christina O. Jun 2016
The house was the perfect size, the Twin Rocks at the neighborhood beach were gorgeous, the beach was not nearly empty, and the grill and outdoor table are perfect for nice family meals. i love the vintage persian rugs in the house and the old photographs, it is so cute! We had trouble from the rental company trying to get ahold of someone to get the lock box code to the house.
Leslie C. Sep 2015
close to everything, especially the beach, great area with some of the best sunsets overlooking twin rocks
Carolyn W. Aug 2015
Great location except no view. Don't count on assistance from the rental association and be sure not to use the kitchen fan unless you have a fire extinguisher handy!
Sandra H. Jul 2015
Nice location. Easy walk to a beautiful beach. House was clean and well equipped. The property is listed as sleeping 6 but honestly 4 would be maximum as the rooms are so small and are already wall to wall furniture. No closets so no where for addition guests to store gear. Should be listed as sleeps 4.
Margaret L. Jul 2015
Central location to other sights up and down the coast. Dated but everything works, is clean, roomy, great deck, w/d, well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed our stay.
John F. Jun 2015
The cottage was lovely with nice historic family photos on the wall. It's an older home and isn't fancy but had everything we needed. The kitchen was nicely upgraded. The kids especially enjoyed making s'mores using the outdoor firepit. We fell asleep to the sound of the frogs from the nearby pond. Only problem we couldn't figure out how to get the TV working.

We enjoyed perusing the eclectic shops nearby and walking the entire length of the beautiful sandy beach. Luckily we brought wet suits as the ocean was still cold mid-June. The spectacular Twin Rocks is right in front of you as you round the corner to the beach. Some friendly locals recommended a great fish and chip place and smokehouse, and they were right, the food was delicious. We also had a nice visit into Gibraltar. We liked that the location was quieter than Cannon Beach.
Tracy B. Jun 2015
Very short walk from beach. Cute old beach home.
Ryan L. May 2015
wireless signal extremely weak.
Manager response:
We apologize that the wireless was not as strong as you would have liked. We hope you enjoyed the other amenities, such as the cable and fireplace. We also hope you made use of the easy beach access just across the street. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
JOHN L. Sep 2014
Cottage very well equipped with everything needed for a long or short stay. Should we return to the Rockaway Beach area, we would like to use the cottage again.
Michael E. Sep 2014
Wonderful property. I would recommend this any time. Just around the corner from the beach. Minutes away from town, Rockaway and Garibaldi. Exactly what we were looking for on a weekend getaway. Thanks.
Nancy L. Jul 2014
The ladys I was with had a problem with the shower They thought the tub was to high from the flood when you got out. They would of like a bath mat in the tub that would of helped. But other then that I would recommend the cottage to others
Becky M. Mar 2014
Enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back. Home was very well stocked with kitchen supplies and linens. Very short walk to the beach.
Damien F. Oct 2013
We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage. It was just a half block or so to walk to the ocean, where you were immediately greeted by miles of beautiful sandy beach. The sunset was spectacular against the twin rocks. The cottage itself was very comfortable. It was wonderful to have a full kitchen and laundry facilities. And I don't think I've ever seen a vacation rental with such a well-stocked kitchen! It had everything from an immersion blender to a double boiler! The customer service was excellent; staff was available and helpful 24/7. We would certainly stay here again.
Kelly M. Oct 2013
The location is excellent, steps to the beach. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. fireplace works well. allows dogs and price is very reasonable. The house is VERY old (over 100 years) and a bit ratty as far as furnishings, rugs, condition goes. There are some repairs that should be done, namely the kitchen floor is very rotten near the door and needs repair. some baseboard heaters should be replaced, they don't work. Probably would not stay again as the general run down nature made it feel a bit unclean, even thought it isn't. Served us well for a last minute weekend and vacasa is very easy to work with. Will use their service again.
Mardi R. Aug 2013
Great spot. Very nice, well equipped kitchen. Just right for a coastal getaway!
Alayna C. Jul 2013
Had a book that talked about the history of the cottage...was a great read.
Candace M. Jul 2013
Cottage by the Sea is the closest cottage you can find without being directly on the beach. Great access to surrounding places of interest, clean home, well supplied. The flowers surrounding the home are beautiful. You could call it Flower cottage by the sea,.
Sally W. Jul 2013
The house was clean and ready for us. It is a short walk to the beach or town. The neighborhood is quiet. It was a great stay.
Patricia G. Jul 2013
Great location, good beaches, and excellent base for exploring the coast from Manzanita, north to Cape Meares to the south.
