Unique waterfront home with lake & ocean views plus private sauna!
This unique, two bedroom Lopez Island vacation home is a special place, a pocket of beauty tucked away among the many inlets and islets that punctuate the San Juan Islands. Stand on the big deck and look past the enormous patch of lawn in back to the clear, blue waters of Mackaye Harbor: you'll see why it's so worth the ferry ride to get here.
The living room, between the pale wood ceiling and the beautiful hardwood floors, is filled with the kind of comfortable furniture and artwork that says the owner cares enough about this space to fill it with special things. There's a lot of visibility, and the home's warm and friendly atmosphere is made even more so by the fire in the wood stove that will warm you on those cold island mornings and evenings.
When gray clouds move in over the harbor, settle in with one of the books, a board game from the shelf, or slip one of the DVDs you brought with you in the player or listen to some music on the CD player. Boot up the laptop or tablet and check on local events or nearby businesses with the complimentary WiFi.
With the natural peace and tranquility that come with this home's wonderful location by the sea, you'll spend your nights in peaceful and restful sleep. Enter through the simple, knotted-wood mission doors that open into two big bedrooms, each enclosed in the same wood ceilings and floors, each with a charming decor and comfortable linens that will ensure you a good night's sleep. There are two queen beds and one futon. Also, you'll enjoy the convenience of two full bathrooms and one half bath, so there's there'll be little waiting to get ready for bed or to start your day exploring this gorgeous area.
Surprisingly, there are over a dozen restaurants on Lopez Island catering to a variety of tastes. But, why go out when you have a beautiful, fully stocked kitchen right at your fingertips? In addition to a big refrigerator, an electric stove, a bevy of pots above your head, and shelves of spices, you'll also have a microwave to heat up a quick snack and a dishwasher for easy clean-up. Enjoy your meal with a great view of the harbor at the dining table with room for four.
The great outdoors begin the moment you step out the door. Enjoy first-rate birdwatching over the lake from the master bedroom's back deck, or head to the front deck to take in the views of sailboats and sunsets over the harbor.
Lopez Island is the first stop in the 45 minute ferry ride beginning in Anacortes, Washington on the U.S. mainland. It's the third largest island in the San Juan chain, and known as the most relaxing and rural - perfect for a peaceful getaway. If you're a cyclist, bring the bike! Lopez Island is a favorite of cyclists because it's essentially hills and rolling pastureland. For those hearty souls who're up to it, there's a 30 mile loop with some amazing scenery that will take you through Spencer Spit Park, Odlin Park, and MacKaye Harbor. For those hoofing it, there are 45 acres of day trails in Shark Reef Sanctuary, with trails through old growth woods and along scenic coastal vistas. You might even see deer, foxes, eagles, harbor seals, river otters, and endangered orca whales! If you're feeling touristy, head up to Lopez Village where you'll find shops, restaurants, cafes, and galleries along the bay.
Lopez Island is a magic place - don't miss this opportunity to enjoy it in a unique and beautiful home right on Mackaye Harbor.

Loved pretty much everything about this home - very clean, amazing location, the views, the quiet, everything in working order, very easy check-in/out. Had a relaxing getaway here, very much recommended for couples.

My family gathered on Lopez Island for a week of hiking, beach-combing, crabbing, and cousin-bonding. We loved every minute of this peaceful, beautiful south island location--and staying in such a lovely beach house!

Our family of 4 absolutely loved our stay at the Beach House on Lopez Island. Our first trip to the island was perfect and the house felt like home immediately. The house was spotless, fully stocked and well prepared. There were so many simple, little things that made us appreciate the house even more. Already recommended the house to others.

We’ve used quite a few rental homes up to now and this was one of our favorites, if not actually THE favorite! It is tastefully decorated, it’s in a beautiful setting, with access to a private beach and a lush green lawn. The terrace is the perfect place to view the sunset or just to enjoy some sunshine. Our family of four loved it there and would recommend the place to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful escape.

Beautiful, well-equipped family home on one of Lopez's most beautiful bays. Very communicative owner. We like staying on the South End near our daughter, with spectacular walks and picture-perfect farms. The Southend Store has everything you need, including the iconic Barn Owl bread!

The sunset was outstanding and we could walk across the street to the beach. The house was done absolutely wonderful and it was really great to meet the owners when we arrived. WE loved it!!!!

Patricia C.Jun 2018
Very cute little beach house. Extremely clean, everything you would need to cook and enjoy. Loved having the firepit and the beach combing was wonderful!!
Erica V.Jun 2018
Could not have loved this place more. The home was so cozy and beautiful. The location on the island was absolutely perfect, right across the street from the beach too. Can not recommend this place enough.
Kristen H.May 2018
Loved this house! So immaculate, every amenity you could think of, a gorgeous and quiet view of the water. Absolutely perfect! Thank you Ingrid and Jan!
Eileen M.Oct 2017
Loved our stay! wonderful house, beautiful view - Ingrid and Jan were wonderful- can't wait to come back
Jeani S.Sep 2017
We forgot to wave but after a couple of cars got back into it. Love "the friendly island" 😁
Lillian S.Sep 2017
This was such a great family getaway spot. The decor was lovely, location across from the beach was great - and it had everything we needed! We enjoyed the sauna and watching some of the DVDs, as well as using the grill. There is a well stocked general store a couple of minutes away which was perfect when we realized we forgot the eggs (and needed more wine!)
Carla H.Jul 2017
We enjoyed the beautiful views and close proximity to the beach!
Deborah W.Jun 2017
We had a great time relaxing and island hopping. I loved the back deck--a wonderful quiet place for me to escape and read!

We had a wonderful stay on Lopez Island. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who graciously allowed us to check in early, as we caught the 12:35 ferry from Anacortes. They were very nice and helpful. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed for a relaxing time away from the city. Everything was clean, the beds comfy, and the kitchen and porch were spectacular! It seemed that most of the island's beaches had "Private" or "No trespassing" signs on them, so it was awesome to have access to this property's private beach! The view was amazing. We really took advantage of the property's fire pit, and had a fun time collecting driftwood from the beach to burn.
Michelle S.May 2016
The accommodations were excellent.
Ping J.Apr 2016
The view of the house is amazing. We enjoyed sitting in the living room and stare at the sea. The sunset is right in front of you and at night, we can see many stars because the surrounding is dark. We also enjoyed the fire pit outside, there are woods stocked in the house for use.
The grocery stores close at 7pm, and there aren't many restaurant, so you might want to bring some food with you. The house has lots spices, though some of them are very expired.
Overall we had a great and relaxing stay, I would go back.
Kevin B.Apr 2016
great location, view and house. Will rebook for next visit.
Jorgan F.Jan 2016
Great setting for a quiet get away! The location provides many opportunities for making your own fun, and the house is very comfortable. Extremely beautiful location, walk able to the amazing iceberg point If you're expecting a traditional sauna, know this is one of he small infrared variety.

Beach House is located on a lovely stretch of beach within easy reach of any activity you might enjoy on Lopez. We cycled around the island from here and into the village for a nice lunch at Vita's one day. The house itself is clean with a fully stocked kitchen, even tools for the gourmet cook like a microplane grater. Local TV stations are available on the flat screen in the living area and the house has decent wi-fi for AppleTV or Amazon Fire should you bring your own.
Plenty of hot water for showers and ample space in the bathrooms.
If your visit is in winter the heating works quite well, keeping things toasty.
In summer the giant front deck would be amazing with its waterfront view and ample seating.
This house does have more owner items sprinkled around than is typical, clothes in the dressers and family pictures up on the walls. It's not to the point where it's creepy but be advised that the space feels like a family vacation home. Not a big deal. I would absolutely stay here again.
Colin M.Oct 2015
The Beach House is a very tastefully decorated and well appointed/equiped rental on the very scenic and quiet south end of Lopez. Great for a small get away for two or the family. The owners have put some time and energy into making this rental comfortable and easy, we would love to come back....next time with our kayaks!
The nearby general store does great breakfasts (you would guess there is a small restaurant in back)
Sharon C.Sep 2015
This was one of the nicest rentals we've stayed in. Felt like home immediately, with so many little things taken care of. We love to cook and the kitchen was fully outfitted. Quiet, peaceful and stunning views. All of it good.
Anita B.Jul 2015
We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was so perfect. It was a little cooler near the water which was an added bonus. We took out the kayaks and saw bald eagles, otters and harbor seals. The house is very comfortable & cooking in the spacious kitchen was a breeze (our apartment in Seattle is TINY). The beds are super comfortable too, so sleeping in was easy too. Thanks so much!!
Kay P.Apr 2015
What a beautiful place to spend a few days. My family and I totally enjoyed the whole experience. We were able to visit the parks, the village and to take walks along the water. We most enjoyed the opportunity to be together in a fabulous place.
Catalin A.Apr 2015
Besides the views, the friendliness of people, this house had an incredible stock of everything, we felt just like on our own home, thank you so so much Ingrid and Peter! We are definitely coming back!
Abigail W.Nov 2014
The house was beautifully clean and cozy with a great location on Mackaye Harbor. It comfortably accommodated a group of four and provided easy access for dropping our kayaks in the water. There was great crabbing just a few hundred yards off of the shore. We pulled up multiple full pots and had a crab feast with ample cooking amenities available. Overall we had a great weekend getaway (except for navigating the overcrowded ferry system which significantly delayed our arrival on Friday evening) and were instantly relaxed once we arrived. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Karen M.Sep 2014
The view from the deck is beautiful any time of day. We found it to be very relaxing and quiet. The house was everything we were expecting after reading the description. The house is well equipped and had everything we needed. There is a small grocery store only a mile or two away. The store also has a small restaurant which has good food!
Miriam M.Aug 2014
We enjoyed our stay so much. The view was beautiful, the house clean, spacious,
With interesting artwork. It definitely felt like a home away from home.
Sundar V.Jul 2014
The beach house was even more attractive that I'd expected. Our hosts keep the place in immaculate condition; the place was spotless, well organized and finished very tastefully. Don't miss sitting silently on the porch in the sun, with the incredibly meditative sounds of the wind chimes soothing in the background! I regret not having more time to do this, and also not taking advantage of the sauna in the basement, or the fire pit in the front yard.
This is a lovely place, and if I can, I'll be back!
One suggestion to families with small children: before you let them loose in the house, make sure things that are breakable (there are many charming little objects, bowls, and other pieces) are out of reach of the little ones.
Megan H.Jul 2014
The house is very clean and lovely. It has everything you need for an amazing stay. The island itself is a jewel and we had a wonderful time hiking and exploring. The town really doesn't offer much action so if you are looking for a place to truly get away from it all, this is it. It does have a good grocery store, and I would recommend shopping on the island instead of Anacortes. There is an amazing restaurant (gas station) with a great beer and wine selection just up the road from the house, definitely try it.
2 items of note: coming from Philadelphia it was surprising how early the sun comes up around 4:45am and the house is very bright (it also stays up later too!)
and the house comes with a dog Raz, he is adorable and we loved his company. Just an FYI incase you are not a dog lover
Ken P.May 2014
A few additional thoughts. A second comfortable chair in the main living area would have facilitated sitting inside on too hot or rainy days for enjoying the view and conversation. Instruction for the TV would have helped since we could not get it running but it didn't matter much.
Ljubomir P.Apr 2014
We stayed in the Beach House for a long weekend. The house is spacious, comfortable, and sparkling clean, and it has everything one could possibly need. The view of MacKaye Harbor from the living/dining room is gorgeous. The area around the house is very quiet and provides a great setting for a relaxed vacation. Lopez island has many parks with beautiful walks and stunning vistas. We will definitely come back.
Thank you for your kind feedback about your stay with us. We're pleased to hear that you found the house clean, comfortable and relaxing and that you were impressed with the views from the living room. We hope you come back for another visit!

We enjoyed our stay here enormously. It was lovely to curl up with a book near a crackling wood fire and be able to look out over such a lovely view of the water. It was a pleasure to cook in the well-appointed kitchen as well. We particularly appreciated the binoculars the day we got to witness a confrontation between some bald eagles out on the water - thank you for such a lovely time!
