We had a wonderful week at Rock Haven Bliss. The house is rustic and spartan, which was just what we were looking for. The floating dock, sunsets over the river, and the screened in porch were highlights for us.

The cottage is just what we were looking for. Traditional summer cottage with privacy and access to the ocean water!

This house is cosy and very spacious at the same time.

The location of this spot is unbeatable! The house itself is so cozy and wonderfully decorated. We had everything we needed for a 4 day stay. The house could not be closer to the water, so the views from the living room and back porch are breathtaking. It was so nice to have our own dock to sit out on. We cooked and grilled out, and everything we needed was provided. I highly recommend this spot! Doesn't get much better!

Perfect and authentic Maine. Hope to return to the cottage, the dock and the sunsets!

Enjoyed our stay, but please read entire review as I will cover both good and bad.

Arrived after dark and found it very difficult to locate the house and appropriate parking. Booking agencies could do a better job of directing renters to the home. You park above the house and decent about 35 rock steps down to the house.

House is underwhelming at first, as it is uninsulated basic, but upon spending a couple hours will find it is very comfortable and fully stocked. We had hot weather and were looking for cooling vs. heating, but every room had floor and/or ceiling fans, so sleeping was comfortable. The beds were modestly comfortable, and had great heavy blankets and bedding. There is a supplemental stash of additional blankets and pillows in each room if it were to be cold.

As I say the house had a stocked kitchen with large pots, pans, etc.... It has a coffee maker but I suggest picking up 10 cup filters.

We had 8 and the biggest downside was a single bathroom, but we made it work. Water was hot and available, due to what I think was an instant water heater. That being said the shower itself was very basic, but entirely sufficient, stocked, and clean. There is not bath tub. If I owned this property the bathroom, and shower is something I would spend money upgrading. It is rustic, however, hot and sufficient for us!

If no familiar with the area, the location may seem well off the beaten bath, but understanding the Maine coastline it is close to major routes. The cabin sits very close to the water and has a nice walkway to the floating dock just steps from the house. It is a beautiful view and is "waterfront".

The most drawing factors for the home for me is it is essentially on the water. Additionally, despite the remoteness, it is still a short drive back to route 1. There are many beautiful rental properties along this coast but many of them will take your 30 minutes to get out to and/or require a ferry ride. This on the other had is basic, but reasonably close to Route 1.

Perhaps the best part of this property is the wrap around porch. It is screened in and has seating for more than a dozen. With seasonal mosquitios, and other bugs, this porch allows you to enjoy the views and fellowship in comfort. It also allows the living space to seem much larger.

All in all, I recommend this place, but understanding staying here requires mobility to navigate the steps up and down the bank to the house, and it is exposed walls with no insulation. There is plenty of lighting in all rooms, and heating in the common area. There are also blankets to keep anyone warm.

The porch is the reason to rent this house! It is so close to the water that you'd need to be on a boat to be any closer. The screens are great bug protection and allow you to watch the magnificent sunset views that this house offers. They are simply spectacular. The cottage is quaint and well appointed. I will mention that if you have any mobility issues, this is not the place for you. There are stairs to get down to the cottage and they are "rustic" in nature. All of the bedrooms are upstairs as well, so it's just important to note that you will need to be comfortable with stairs if you rent this house. We enjoyed the cottage a lot. I would definitely rent this cottage again and the porch is calling my name ...
