Hand-Built Gem with Two Large Decks and Incredible Views - 1/4 Mile to the Beach

The spectacular landscape of the Northern Oregon Coast awaits when you stay at this beautiful hand-crafted Oceanside vacation rental. With a superb location just a quarter-mile from the beach and breathtaking views of the coast from not one but two south-facing decks, this homey cabin infuses your vacation with a unique touch of the Pacific Northwest.

Tucked away in the quiet village of Oceanside, this home is perfect for anyone hoping to escape the crowds of Oregon's more popular coastal towns. Stroll down the hill to the broad, sandy beach, where you can explore tide pools, go kitesurfing, or marvel at the rugged terrain. For a change of pace, hike up to the lighthouse at Cape Meares, or head into nearby Tillamook for a tour of its world-famous Cheese Factory. (We recommend picking up some groceries while you're there - Oceanside only has a couple of restaurants and no markets.)

The house is built entirely from wood and boasts an unobstructed 15-mile view of the water and shoreline, along with two spacious decks for admiring the scenery. Inside, you'll find two separate sections: a main suite with two bedrooms and a loft, and a smaller studio with a private entrance. There's no TV, but you'll find plenty of books, speakers for your music, and free WiFi for checking your social media and chatting with friends back home. Both the main house and the studio also include their own kitchens with a stove, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher, plus private access to their own deck.

Escape to Oceanside for an Oregon getaway you'll never forget. Book your reservation today!

*Please note that cell service is very poor in Oceanside, and will be a little better toward the road or much better in Netarts (two miles away). Please plan accordingly!

Enjoyed stay, we had a weekend stay and didn't use the studio below us but the rooms were comfortable and living room view is hard to beat. Would have enjoyed a coffee packet or known no TV but overall nice stay

My family used to frequently rent this house when I was a kid. I was so happy to discover it’s still available, AND it hasn’t changed AT ALL 20 years later! It’s a very unique house, beautifully designed, with incredible views of the ocean, tons of character. I’m so happy I got to experience it again.

The view of Cape Lookout makes this house great. The furnishings are funky but fine, and the natural wood paneling gives it a lot of charm. My problem is with the lack of hooks to hang clothing, since none of the bedrooms have closets. Curtains are also lacking. There are some rotting boards on the deck. Some attention could really benefit this place.
Manager response:
Hi Holly, thank you for your review, we sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced during your time with us. Moving forward, we passed your comments along to our local manager to review and we appreciate guests’ preferences as a means to continually improve. We look forward to hosting your next stay.

View is amazing. It's the reason you get this house. Everything else? Older, worn, outdated, creaky, etc. The house is fine, don't expect it to be in tip top shape, it's old and its age shows. Balcony railing feel loose, kitchen cabinets are worn and dated, some of the windows are broken and rotting.

It's an ok house if you're not expecting the interior finishes to be as good as the exterior view.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Daniel, it is a pleasure to hear you enjoyed the great views during your visit. We appreciate your feedback as a means to continually improve our home, as well as our guest's comfort and satisfaction. We hope to host you again.

This rustic beach cabin was perfect for a quick getaway and offered plenty of room for our group of six. The views from every room are amazing. It is definitely rustic and quaint, but nice.

In the areas that this location is needing improvement such as enough propane for the grill and more plates it makes up for in location and view. It was nice to have a separate studio for my son and his fiance to go spend time in while me and my husband were able to have some alone time as well upstairs. Overall from my experience with these type of homes even specifically in Oceanside the house of a little sparse on what it needed to be as comfortable as I am used to. My husband was excited by the possibility of using the wetsuits until he realized the crotch was ripped out of the only one that would have fit him. Every time we used the toaster oven even a little the fire alarm would go off and we were given one tablet for a four day stay for dishes. Overall we enjoyed the location but still think it is more like a cabin than a traditional Vacasa house that I would stay in. Great water pressure, good washer and dryer, great view, close to the beach, great porch lookout and great nook inside to watch out and enjoy the view or just talk with your family.
Manager response:
Kathleen, thank you for visiting and sharing your feedback. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time here and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us to make improvements. We'd love to host you again soon.

The views

This place used to be owned by a sweet family that loved and cared for it. It’s in awful shape now. Most windows don’t have handles for opening. The porch railing is a liability and a safety issue with a lawsuit waiting to happening. There’s mildew in different parts of the house. The water pressure sometimes goes so low there’s no water. Part of the studio ceiling is coming dish. The studio barely has dishes in it. The have ceilings with peeling paint. The only plus is the view and window seats. It’s absolutely not worth the price. If you have kids, do not recommend because a steady push by a young one and the porch railing will give way.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Kari. We sincerely apologize for the issue you encountered during your stay. We appreciate you bringing these items to our attention and letting us know that there is room for improvement. We will follow up with the appropriate parties regarding your feedback. Thank you.

Everything was amazing, thank you for making our 20 year anniversary wonderful.

Loved our stay at this beautiful home. Could it use some updates as far as bathrooms and porch furniture go? Yes! But was it all worth it for the views and experience? Also yes! Would highly recommend this spot for a getaway vacation: Oceanside is a lovely, sleepy town and this house is perfectly located near the most beautiful beaches and scenic hikes.

Manager response:
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.  We look forward to hosting you again!

This house has excellent views of the beach, is close enough to walk to the beach and is completely comfortable. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to staying again soon.
Sally T. Apr 2021
Great ocean views! This is a home where the view is front and center. Just what we hope for at the coast. The furnishings are older, but very homelike and comfortable. Good mattress on the upstairs bed (the only one we tried). Nice accommodations with three bedrooms in the larger upstairs unit, plus more in the downstairs studio, which is part of the rental. One bath upstairs with a beefy shower that my husband loved, another bath in the studio. This feels like home and we would love to stay here again.
Matthew T. Feb 2021
The house is beautiful, comfortable and the perfect place to relax and take in the views. It's a short walk to the beach, and has all the amenities you could want. Would definitely stay there again!
Erin C. Jan 2021
Beautiful, cozy home with exceptional view of the ocean. A great place to escape for a few days and recharge.
Cheryl G. Jan 2021
We've stayed at Escape to Oceanside before it was managed by Vacasa and it was lovely to be able to return again. This is such an unique and charming home with all the quirks you would expect from something made by hand. The view is amazing and the proximity to the beach is great. Our family really enjoyed our time here and can't wait to go back.

A few things that would make it even better would be the ability to turn on the porch light - we could not figure it out - and better labeling on the dishwasher cycles. This took some trial and error.
Manager response:
Hi, Cheryl! We're happy that you had a wonderful stay and delighted to hear how much you love this cozy gem by the ocean. Thank you for sharing your feedback and bringing some items to our attention that may need some TLC. We have forwarded your feedback to the local staff so they can work to improve the house for future guests. Please know that our guest services team is available 24 hours a day to assist should any concerns arise during your visit. We look forward to hosting you again for another great stay in the future!

This is an artfully crafted hillside retreat that feels like a treehouse. The view of the ocean below is a gift and can be seen from all three levels of the house, as well as from the two decks. Having two separate living spaces makes it possible to bring the family together for walks on the beach and dinners on the deck, safely-even during the pandemic. The beds were comfortable. The showers were hot/good water pressure, and the space was well- heated. (important when visiting in the winter). Oceanside is a charming little coastal town.
Laela W. Jul 2020
Love the view and natural, simple aesthetic. Clean! Some simple updates needed to refresh.
Valerie F. Jul 2020
We chose this property because it had a view! The coastal weather can change quickly from foggy, windy and rainy, so we wanted a house that had a view of the water. This house with its original 80s wood craftsmanship, beautiful wool rugs acquired from around the world, had a spacious modern cabin feel. We had plenty of space to spread out and the location was ideal one block up the hill from the two Oceanside stack beaches!
Summer R. Jul 2020
We loved the house and the location. All of the handmade furniture was really special inside the house. The view from the house is absolutely incredible and the town is my new favorite coastal town. My kids are already asking to go back. Many thanks!
Desiree E. Mar 2020
The love and craftsmanship that went into building and creating the space can't go unnoticed -- so beautiful and so relaxing! I can't wait to go back.
Royal K. Nov 2019
I said Id be back and I was. Guess what, Ill say it an do it again. Bargain of the decade. Stunning views that show the owner/builders vision and attention to detail.
Lisa K. Nov 2019
We loved the character and views of this place. Cozy and clean and well-loved. So nice to have the decks and both units. I would say, be prepared for a slightly rustic experience, which we appreciated. Loved the windows and being nestled in the trees above Oceanside. Rent and cleaning fees were fair, attached fees were a bit exorbitant. Loved that we could add a later check-out time, made a big difference!
Jeannette T. Sep 2019
I love cabins and this home had such a relaxing and natural vibe. We really enjoyed our stay and I'd definitely consider going back. It's very much a place to unplug, as there's no TV, which we appreciated, but the internet was a bit slow if that's important for you.
Samantha W. Aug 2019
The expansive view of Oceanside to Cape Lookout is gorgeous, though trees and the hill block the western view. Inside is very basic but comfortable. No oven in the main unit is a drawback. An open window that won't close in the studio unit below, and 2 windows in the main unit that are marked "don't open" speak of disrepair. It's a beautiful home from the outside, with that great view, and easy access and unloading, but we wish it could be a bit better taken care of.

A lot of things

Michael F. Sep 2018
The view from the house is stunning.
Judith S. Sep 2018
Loved having two separate residential spaces.
Josh L. Aug 2018
We loved the view, and the deck, and being able to hear the ocean from the house. We struggled a bit with this house actually being two distinct apartments, neither of which had a full set of appliances, e.g. one had a microwave, laundry etc. and the other did not. The house also lacks storage - almost completely, in the kitchen, in the bedrooms, everywhere. Finally, there's no TV, which I actually enjoyed, but other folks that were there would have appreciated knowing ahead of time that there wasn't one.
Manager response:
We appreciate this feedback and are glad to see the beautiful view was enjoyed. This home does have a separate studio unit downstairs with a deck of its own, and the upstairs area has the full kitchen. We apologize if the lack of TV was upsetting and hope the use of WiFi was helpful. Thank you!

We were really disappointed with this rental. We rent 10 to 12 cottages a year and usually love all of them. This cottage is in a great location with an outstanding view. The problem is the maintenance and cleanliness. Terrible pillows, cheap polyester duvet covers, stained and dirty chair cushions, sticky kitchen cabinets. If they would just spend our three night rental fee on a few updates, this could be a great place. As it is now, not worth the money. We would not stay here again - we considered leaving 10 minutes after we arrived.
Manager response:
We do describe this home as having a rustic wooden interior charm, and we are sorry to see these guests did not enjoy it. The home has been deep cleaned which we believe will help with most of their concerns. Thank you!
Elizabeth H. Jun 2018
I loved how minimal and tasteful the decor was, and especially the view from the loft bed. I relaxed and also got some important work done here. Will be back for sure.
Phil D. Jun 2018
We loved this place. It is rustic but we loved that. We liked that it had no TV. The kitchen worked great. The view was fantastic and it was easy to walk to the beach and to town. We hope to stay here again.
Scott S. Apr 2018
This is a wonderful location and unit. The view is wonderful, and the sound of the surf is wonderful. We really liked that this unit was a short walk down the hill to the beach. The lower separate studio unit does have a very compact bathroom, but it is functional. The upper unit main floor bedroom door doesn't shut because the bed frame blocks the door, so this caused some privacy issues. I would rent this unit again.
Eric B. Apr 2018
The views from this home are perfect. Instead of looking straight out over the ocean, it looks across miles of beach - the perfect view. We also loved all the exposed wood.
William H. Mar 2018
Stunning view south along the Oceanside Beach. Wood every where in the house. Kitchen with an electric stove-top oddly put together but well stocked. Good coffee maker. Upstairs master bedroom with another bedroom off the master. Good for kids, not so much for adults. Nice living room. Opens to a porch facing south.

The bad was a leaking sink. The sink was not attached to either a pedestal or to the wall. It was attached to the drain with plumbers putty. Not a best practice. I reported the problem and a very capable young woman came out on a Sunday to attempt triage and repair. She did what she could and managed to stop most of the leaking.

The home should not have been rented out with the sink in that condition. The fact I had to deal with that during my vacation is not acceptable.

My friend and I went here to on a personal retreat. The wrap-around couch, the amazing view and open kitchen were perfect for us. We expected it would be rainy in January and so a beautiful interior was a must - it was a lovely home. In the end, we were even pleasantly surprised with several hours of clear whether which made our weekend!
