Find a timeless coastal retreat at this three-bedroom Fort Bragg cottage, a welcoming family home with a sun-splashed deck, a beautiful tree-lined property, and wonderful access to nearby towns, beaches, and ocean bluffs.

This quaint home sits on an open, grassy property, right on the edge of lush woodlands and the eastern reaches of MacKerricher State Park. Head four miles south into downtown Fort Bragg to hop on board the Skunk Train or marvel at the treasures on Glass Beach, spend afternoons exploring the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens seven miles south, and take short walks down to MacKerricher's ocean bluffs to look for passing whales and watch spectacular sunsets.

Take daily excursions to the artsy village of Mendocino (14 miles south) and other breathtaking stretches of California Highway 1, and return home to unwind in the sunshine on the deck. This was our second stay at Parkside and we have already booked our third! It’s a perfect little house tucked away from the beach but with access to walking and playing on the beach within minutes of stepping out the door.

Very comfortable and clean and great location!

We loved our stay in Ft. Bragg at Parkside. The walking trail next to the beach was perfect for daily adventures between rain storms. We enjoyed cooking and working on puzzles during our family trip for Christmas. Just far enough from town to feel remote but close enough to explore downtown Ft Bragg and take a ride on the skunk train.

Internet limited, cable channels limited, sat in the dark in living room final night because of blown fuse, dirty kitchen linens.
Marybeth B. Nov 2021
We (four adults and one dog) loved our stay at Parkside. It was very comfortable and cozy, with a nice, sunny spot to have coffee in the morning and a roomy living room where we could relax and visit in the evenings. The beds were comfortable, also. We will come back and recommend to others.
Sandra B. Oct 2021
Comfortable home, short walk to beach. Very quiet and private property.
Darryl C. Oct 2021
Cozy place a short walk to beach. My family and I loved it.
Marcia S. Aug 2021
The location of this beach house was perfect with just a short walk to bike/walking trail and to the ocean shore. Comfortable and functional house for family or friends. Fun beachy decor, outdoor shower and private setting with vegetation surrounding the yard. We would visit
again given the chance. Only suggestion is to bring your own pillow. :)

We loved this location, a five minute walk to the beach and right off of MacKerricher State Park so easy access to all of its trails and day use areas. The house itself was very homey and cozy - and clean! We had 6 adults and the three bedrooms were just perfect. The kitchen was very well stocked and we cooked all of our meals there. We also use the BBQ and fire pit in the backyard! We loved the outdoor shower after a day at the beach, and will definitely be returning. The only issue with our stay is that Vacasa tried to cancel our reservation two weeks before the trip. Luckily, we were able to shift the dates by one day and make it work, but I wish they had shifted the days before announcing our reservation was cancelled. It was a carefully planned trip with airfare and rental cars and it would have been a huge loss to miss out on it.
Deer visited every day, and the quiet location was perfect for a retreat. We will be back!
Manager response:
Hi Emily, thank you for staying with us! We apologize for the last-minute modifications to your reservation and the inconvenience it caused your party. We make every effort to host our guests as booked, but there can be unforeseen circumstances like the unsustained employment commitments due to Covid-19. When a home or dates are no longer available, we always strive to find an alternative solution first and foremost before cancelling a trip that you have carefully planned. Thank you for being flexible and willing to adjust your dates to allow us to still service the home and accommodate your stay. We hope to welcome you back in the future.

Great location, peaceful, quiet, relaxing
Harry F. Mar 2021
Best thing here was proximity to the ocean. TV only. No DVD. Internet so slow that Netflix constantly buffered. Coach and chair need new cushions. Place was clean. Beds were good. THERE IS NO FIREPLACE ALTHOUGH THE PHOTOS SHOWED ONE. Too many disappointments.
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback, Harry. We are sorry to read you were disappointed with so many aspects of your accommodations. With this home being rural, the spotty internet is currently the best available. The wood stove was removed recently due to it being a fire hazard; this has been removed as an advertised amenity and been replaced with an electric fireplace. We hope to be able to impress you in the future!

Great location to visit beach and Fort Braggs amazing bike trail.
Kimari P. Dec 2020
This place was great. It had everything we needed, and was very close to the beach and trails. We will be back!

The title of the review says it all. My favorite part of the cabin is the outdoor shower.

Comfortable, clean, well stocked. Its a great house for a getaway by the ocean. We were lucky enough to be there during a big storm.
Steven M. Oct 2020
Terrific spot, super comfy, quiet, no neighbors, private, a v short walk to a desolate beach - simply fabulous.
Dennis S. Oct 2020
Many homes this close to the beach sit out in the open surrounded by other houses, all lined up for the ocean view from their decks. To us, Parkside is a welcome exception in that it provides a more private, cozy location, set back, surrounded by trees and shrubs. There's no ocean view, but it's a pleasant 3 or 4 minute walk down the road to the beach. We enjoyed walking out every evening to watch the sunset. We were fortunate to have 5 out of 7 sunny days.

Parkside is a charming, cottage style home with all the amenities we could expect. The architecture is well laid out and warm and inviting. The back deck is private and has many interesting artistic details. Deer wander through the yard. The furnishings and decor are nicely done, and the beds are comfortable and in good shape. The water pressure in the showers is good and there's plenty of hot water. The central heating works great to keep the house toasty and warm. The kitchen is well outfitted with appliances. We would definitely return.

To be fair, though, Parkside showed wear and lack of maintenance, with loose electrical outlets, wobbly towel bars, burnt out lights, and a broken soap dispenser in the dishwasher (tip: just throw the soap bar into the dishwasher instead of putting it in the compartment). There was very little kindling for our 7 night stay, and no hatchet, and we ended up giving up on the wood stove because of that and trouble getting the door to shut properly.

These are all minor issues, so it's unfortunate they've been allowed to accumulate, and somewhat degrade the experience of an excellent property. We would still not hesitate to recommend Parkside.
Manager response:
Hi, Dennis! We are so glad you stayed with us and shared such a comprehensive review to help us understand how our guests experience the home. Maintenance is scheduled to handle the fireplace door, outlets, towel bars, light bulbs, and dishwasher soap dispenser. The owner does not provide kindling, but there is an ax located next to the wood pile. Thank you!

This is a cute house with comfort and plenty of space. I’d like to come back again!
Metha D. Sep 2020
Very nice home and a great location. I would definitely recommend, so close to the beach and so quiet and peaceful.
Camille A. Aug 2020
The home is perfectly nestled into a beachy jungle, removed from the visiting traffic on the nearby beachfront homes. But still a quick 1 minute bike ride or 3 minute walk to the water! Unfortunately there were a few things we have to take some points off for, including:
- broken washing machine
- very spotty WIFI
- dirty floors (had to vacuum upon arrival)
- broken blinds in guest rooms
- dirty, fingerprinted walls
- musty smell upon arrival (just needed to be aired out)
- kitchen could use a basting brush, spatula, and bread knife
If these things are addressed, the home will be top notch.

Thank you for a lovely stay in the gem that is Ft. Bragg!
Stephanie L. Jul 2020
We especially loved the daily deer visits through the yard. Very quite street. It’s a quick walk to access a great spot on the beach. Very cute and cozy home. We would rent again. Thank you.
Tiffany T. Feb 2020
We enjoyed another great stay at this property! It was comfortable and has great proximity to the ocean. Bring your bikes! We were glad that we did this time!
William C I. Sep 2019
Nice House, clean, and well kept. The only reason the house did not get a 5 was because of a key code change issue (which was corrected quickly), and there were only 3 hangers in the house.
Krsangi D. Sep 2019
loved the easy access to beautiful 10 mile Beach, and loved the outside shower on the back deck, which was really private. The fire place needed some cleaning but the outside fire pit made due. Had a wonderful time!
Katherine R. Jul 2019
Comfortable home for our 4-person family that is very close to the beach.
Michelle C. May 2019
Location was perfect ,very private and Spacious . House had everything we needed.not to far from town .
elizabeth m. May 2019
This house is in a very peaceful place. There's no noise except the birds and you can't even see another house from it. It was clean and provided the basic amenities we needed.
Denise C. Apr 2019
Walking distance to the ocean and walking paths. Well appointed kitchen and laundry. Quiet bedrooms.
Lauren S. Feb 2019
This house is perfect for a beach vacation! Cute, cozy, and oh so close to the beach. We went in winter, and the wood stove helped make it a cozy time. We absolutely loved our stay here, with my husband and four year old son. The beds were comfortable and everything was super clean.
Tiffany T. Feb 2019
The location is great! It was wonderful to be able to walk to the beach. It was also nice for everyone in our party (2 parents and 2 kids) to have their own space. We would definitely return to this property.
Michael A. Feb 2019
We had a great relaxing time. A couple of the beds were hard, but otherwise great!!!!
Gregory P. Jan 2019
Spent five days at this comfortable little house to start the New Year.
The outdoor shower is Fantastic. Old time porcelain ceramic handles, sweated copper pipe, and colorful tile backsplash. It has three heads, one above the head like all other showers and two heads shoulder high. Very very nice!
Wife and I got there first and checked out all the beds.
We knew we would take the king with the bathroom, we paid the rental fee. But hey, why not check out the other two.
One is queen very soft, the lady who slept in it loved it.
The other queen has a South facing big window to let the Sun on the bed. Very nice touch in January.
Traffic past the house is sparse and slow moving.
Ocean is about the length of a football field away.
Dark blue on shutters and chairs is a nice touch.
Interior is comfortable and seems bigger than you think it would.
Close to horse rental and Fort Bragg.
Would happily rent it again.
Steve J. Oct 2018
Having the place clean when we got there and having all the linens provided made all the difference for our situation. We have stayed there before so were familiar with the house and what is available on the coast. It was just what we needed.
Jeff L B. Oct 2018
My wife & I stayed here for 7 nights mid-Oct 2018, Great location, beautiful beaches, quiet & cozy for the entire stay. Nice touches on the inside & out, especially the outdoor shower and horseshoe pit. We would stay here again. Loved it.
Karen S. Sep 2018
The location was great. So easy to get to the beach and a nice path along the beach. Hope to come back again when I can spend more time exploring!
Cynthia M. Aug 2018
Very comfortable home.
Cynthia G. Jul 2018
This is a cozy cottage by the sea; easy walking distance to the beach and amazingly quiet and peaceful at night. It was a wonderful getaway.
David K. Jul 2018
We loved the house. It has a very good home feeling to the house. the house is very spacious for our group. Kitchen was a little small and the shower is hard for a tall man over 6 feet. We would definitely stay again. Very close to the beach less than a five minute walk.
Ash R. Jul 2018
We had a great time. There few minor quirks, if fixed, this could be a fantastic place to visit. It is very short walk to the beach.
Since I am over six feet tall, it was little difficult to take shower is the master bath. Shower stall is meant for person closer to 5 feet. Carpet should really be taken out, instead owner should put hardwood floors. We loved our stay here and would love to visit again.
Manager response:
We appreciate these comments. The showers are standard size and function perfectly, and the carpet is a nice berber carpet. Thank you!
Phyllis H. Jun 2018
The house was clean and comfortable and the kitchen well equipped.

Mostly, we loved that you could walk to the beach!
Julie T. Jun 2018
I spent 5 days with my husband here and it was fabulous. Sweet quiet house close to the water. I would go back again. In a minute. Only complaint is that the showers are small.
Debi G. May 2018
This home was near to town and within walking distance to a lovely path along the beach. The area was very quiet and peaceful. Amenities and styling were a little dated with a slight musty smell. Internet worked well. A small first aid kit would have been helpful (bandaids and antiseptic cream.
