That place is magical. On a cold winter day, you get into the hot tub overlooking trees and the sound of the creek. And then it starts to snow. It felt I was in another world and the experience was breathtaking and magical. It was the last house on the gravely path which meant even more privacy.

A lot of visitors complained about the ants and we were worried. But as the manual on the arrival says, they do quarterly pest control but there are still some ants in that area of the woods. Yes, there were some ants on the counter and we were mindful to keep our food on the dining table and not on the kitchen counter. Apart from that, it was absolutely fantastic.

The cabin itself was the cutest, cleanest and best location. It was very close to the creek, which had picturesque rapids right in front. The hot tub was amazing! It was clean and comfortable. The beds were soft as feathers and the kitchen was well stocked. This cabin had everything, from fireplace (that we did not even use) to a dock right at the creek. We will definitely return, looking forward to next time.
Kerry M. Nov 2021
Great location! Easy to get to all the right places! The stream is wonderful as is the hot tub.
Richard M. Nov 2021
The home was dog friendly.. yard is fenced so that was a plus! Open living room and kitchen area. Hot tub and porch nice touch! But the home needs a lot of TLC, ants were prevalent in the kitchen and bathroom. Flooring in bathroom and living room had soft areas which could potentially be a hazard. It should just be checked. Creek in the back was also a plus. Porch screened in so you could eat out there if you preferred! Fire place was also a nice touch!
Cheryl B. Oct 2021
Love the location and beautiful scenery! And it was pretty well stocked with what you need, especially the gas grill out on the back porch and the fire pit. Having a fenced in yard area was perfect for our blind husky!
Doug Y. Sep 2021
We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was great except they do need to call an exterminator for ants in there kitchen
Jamie P. Sep 2021
Loved the rapids sound and the peace of nature!
Beth M. Aug 2021
Beautiful creek and surrounded by natural forest. The hot tub on the deck under the stars was very nice. The location was convenient for the many activities around Blue Ridge.
Karen C. Aug 2021
The location was a nice spot right on the creek and it was wonderful to sit out on the porch every morning and evening listening to the water rushing over the rocks. Enjoyed the funky decor, although the house definitely needs some TLC and a deep cleaning.
Leonard R LeBel J. Aug 2021
to many ants to enjoy cooking took 2 days to get hot tub going wish had access to river right in front of us but to steep on river banks to enjoy
Adrian H. Jul 2021
Enjoyed the remote location of this property.
Craig R. Jun 2021
We had a great time in Blue Ridge. Location of cottage was good although the last mile or so are sketchy (very narrow with steep falloff). A/C good, WIFI okay, overall a nice stay.
Donna O. May 2021
This place was truly awesome, remote the sounds of the lake. The home itself was so cute and cozy me and my husband really connected here and had a great time great memories love this place you will not regret it expressly if you and your significant other need some quality time this place you want to do it at. I believe this place just saved my marriage lol.
Karen H. May 2021
Wonderful getaway for 3 sisters.
Enjoyed the time there.
Wendy R. May 2021
Loved that it was fenced, however, the people in the cabin next door had a dog that was able to get in the back area so I had to be watchful before taking my dog out. The river/creek was fantastic to listen to and watch. There was a fire pit out back also that was good for hotdogs and s’mores. The cabin itself was a bit of a disappointment due to its lack of attention. There were ants everywhere mainly kitchen. They need to pay more attention to the cleaning and maintenance of the property and it could use an update.
I did talk with vacasa and they were responsive to the concerns I voiced.
If the property was updated I would book again.
Manager response:
Hello Wendy,it's a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed your stay! We will ensure that pest control treatments are completed to prevent any further concerns. Thank you for staying with us. We hope to host you again!
Tammula T. Mar 2021
We had an amazing time! The sound of the water was so relaxing. Although it rained during our time, we still managed to sit outside in between the down pours. We will definitely be back!!
Jason S. Mar 2021
We loved our little cabin. You can't beat the back by the river. We roasted hotdogs and had smores in the firepit by the river. 10 min. from downtown. Easy to travel roads. Comfortable beds. The hot tub was not filled so we didn't use it but the cabin is stocked with all the essentials then some.
William S. Feb 2021
We really enjoyed our stay. The home had a small cottage feel to it. The fenced yard for the dogs was great. Home was cozy. One suggestion is update some kitchen items (toaster did not work) and possibly stock the kitchen a little more but overall nice place. Loved the deck by the river. Actually proposed to my girlfriend there and she said Yes!
Manager response:
Hello, William! Thank you for your review. We are thrilled to hear that this home had all the makings for a memorable stay! We appreciate your suggestions and welcome the opportunity to make improvements for positive guest experiences to come. We hope to host you again soon!

After many years of constant business travel and exploring the blue ridge mountains. I can honestly say this is by far one of the best places! Great secluded location, amazing beds very clean, secluded and truly a piece of heaven within the mountains. I would highly recommend Vacasa and this particular property!
Carol B. Oct 2020

Mary B. Oct 2020
I just had the most lovely and idyllic stay at Dogwood Creekside! The cabin was clean, well stocked and comfortable - and the location could not have been more perfect! The house could use a few updates, but I would definitely stay here again.
Leslie P. Sep 2020
Loved the location and views. Being on the water was amazing! Nice and private!
Karl H. Sep 2020
Enjoyed the stay nice and peaceful a dishwasher would be nice but conviently located
Ashley S. Sep 2020
Right on a creek. Sitting on the back deck is so relaxing! Short drive to blue ridge if u even want to leave the house! Two adults and a 2 yr old. Had plenty to keep us occupied while having the ultimate relaxing trip!!
Karen D. Aug 2020
Trip was planned for 3 days, had to leave early due to mold/mildew problem. The back bedroom was unusable due to this issue. We had our kids sleep in the front room with the ceiling fan on high to help dissipate the smell. My wife and I ended up sleeping on the couches.

Spider webs in the bathroom/shower and shower curtain not clean. Pretty substantial ant problem in living room and kitchen.

Had a great time looking around Blue Ridge, dreaded coming back to this property to spend the night. Started getting concerned about possible health issues for my family if we stayed any longer.
Manager response:
We appreciate your feedback, Karen, and are sorry to read you were unhappy with your accommodations. The home has been thoroughly inspected for mold, and none has been found. There is a generally musty smell in the home that comes from being older and sitting so close to the creek. We have followed-up with housekeeping on the oversights you encountered. Hopefully we can impress you in the future!
GAIL L. Jun 2020
The bed was very comfy and very nice yard for pets
RICKY G. Jun 2020

This was a great spot for a 4 day escape! My GF and I really enjoyed this location. Clean and well taken care of - great access to nature trails, etc. We are def glad we tried this out! No complaints!
John H. Dec 2019
Seclusion, serenity, hot tub, closeness to nature, scenic highways, comfortable bed, zip lines, and close to numerous day trip destinations!
Natalie D. Nov 2019
Cozy and on the river.
William F. Sep 2019
We had a great time. Cabin was clean and so was the hot tub. Amenities in the area are also top notch. Do beware of bugs and bring bug spray - you are in the woods!
Tina C. Aug 2019
Loved the home, hot tub and stream. Wonderful getaway.
Johnathon G. Aug 2019
The sound of the creek was do siren, the hot tub was so clean and relaxing . The rocking chairs in the screened in porch was perfect for coffee and watching sun peak through all the woods . The fire pit was perfect ride along the creek and had extra fire wood which was awesome and convenient. The dock was perfect to let your little ones cast out for fun . The cabin was clean had everything you needed in the kitchen, wifi, cable, even a cute fire place inside it was way too hot to turn on but was a cute touch to the cabin . It was close to downtown blue ridge which offers the scenic train ride and lots of places to eat , shopping ect. Very cute place overall just bad ant problem in the kitchen just keep it clean and do not leave food out . I suggest you wear closed toed shoes and bring a pair of water shoes my husband got stung by Hornets & my son and I slipped on rocks makes this cabin even better . Haha lots of memories in the middle of no where. Oh like to add the road to the cabin was easy to find and easy to ride on in my Honda CRV .end of the road last house secluded. You do have neighbors but still VERY private.
Terry R. Aug 2019
We loved this cottage. It’s very private. It’s located at the end of the rough road. The water was tranquil. You will feel welcomed from the second you arrive until you leave! The home is well stocked and is very clean! We will be back!!!

Everything about the place
Donnie R. Jun 2019
Took the grandbabies for the weekend. Rained all weekend but we still had a good time.
Troy B. May 2019
Nice and private, great stream running behind the house, not too far from town for supplies.
Linton B. Apr 2019
Great little cabin by the river. Very private feel, pet friendly, and close enough to everything in Blue Ridge.
Rick S. Mar 2019
Loved every minute of the stay. Plenty to explore. Blue Ridge is a beautiful friendly town, lots of hiking trails, wonderful scenery and quiet accommodations with a bubbling stream to make it even calmer.
Jennifer M. Mar 2019
Beautiful!
Riley Z. Nov 2018
This house was private and down a remote road in the woods. Some updates have been made and some still need to be done. Both beds need new mattresses. The carpet in the bedrooms should be replaced. The outdoor screened in porch is lacking some nice furniture and a decorators touch. Nothing makes it inviting to sit out there. All outdoor furniture needs updating. This home could be so cute with just a few minor things replaced. The fireplace mantle should be a focal point and instead has some 50 cent garage sale items on top of it. Same with the kitchen. The few cups that are there are all individual. Supplying one or a few kitchen towels would be wonderful. The bathroom towels we're great and plentiful though. The supplies in the kitchen are sorely lacking. Usually when we stay at VRBO homes there is leftover spices, salt and pepper shakers, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, plastic containers to store the food you've cooked. There was nothing but aluminum foil, pans, silverware, plates, and a hodgepodge of glasses. The Keurig coffee maker was a wonderful touch! I'm all about presentation and this house is sorely lacking. Just a few extra bucks would go a long way into making it a great place to stay. We came with our two pups and we're dismayed at the deep incline to get into the water. It's beautiful and wonderful to listen to but not easy for dogs to get in. The front yard is gated which is wonderful but it's mostly moss which means mud when it rains. It would be great if they put down some river rock pea gravel. It's small enough that it should not cost a lot and dog owners would be very appreciative. The hot tub heated but was low in water and the pH was also low. We added water and some stuff to raise it but it never came up. There was absolutely no chlorine and a visible film on the water and the walls of the hot tub. A trip to Home Depot for some chlorine helped a little. I think they need to get a service guy out there and also supply some chlorine. The floor mat outside the front door had 3 stains on it upon arrival and the mat in front of the hot tub almost killed me. So slick with slime we hung it over the deck for 2 days. I did like this house but definitely think it needs a little investing in. Their cleaning service also needs to be looked at. Yes, there were still spiderwebs hanging from the bathroom ceiling. Mouse poop on kitchen floor and hair on couch covers. Mice in this sitting is expected and I'm used to dog hair. I probably would not rebook this house due to the lack of amenities and overall up keep. A little money invested goes along way. I liked it but would look elsewhere for our next visit to this area due to the lack of simple amenities and overall feeling of lack of love for this beautiful home. A little bit of love goes along way and this home is screaming for some. I'm not sure if it's the owners or the property management company but somebody needs to step up to the plate for this house. Take care of your investment and it will take care of you!
Manager response:
We appreciate the guests feedback. Local staff drains and refills the hot tub between each guest and while we do provide spa chemicals (bromine, not chlorine) that can be found in the closet by the door, no extra should be needed. Our Local Manager will discuss with the owner on how to make the porch more of a welcoming environment for guests. The kitchen towels can be found in the basket on the counter by the stove.

Second time we’ve stayed here. Perfect size and location for what we wanted.
stephanie b. Sep 2018
My husband, two dogs and I stayed almost a week and loved it. While it is not super fancy or upscale it does meet all your needs. It is mostly secluded (neighbor on one side) and has creek frontage! The creek is accessible you just have to be a little careful getting down to it. Our dogs loved the creek!! There was a very artistic 'rock stack' in the creek along this cabins' creek frontage that was really neat. Also, close to the creek is a small deck with seating where you can relax and watch the water. The cabin was super comfortable and the hot tub was amazing. There is a screened porch area with seating and an open deck where the hot tub is with more seating. There was even a doggie gate at the top of the deck stairs to keep your dog up on the deck! It has a fenced area in the front for dogs and a washer/dryer but no dishwasher (may be an issue for some but doing them by hand is pretty easy). The bed in the rear bedroom is the one we used and it was very comfortable. It is also close to most activities and the downtown area. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!!
Maxi S. Aug 2018
This was a magical place to stay. We enjoyed it so much that we talked about making it a yearly vacation. The house is so cozy, and the outdoors is so incredibly relaxing with the sound of the creek. We enjoyed having a beloved dogs with us too. Thank you so much! It was perfect for our little family.
Angi S. Aug 2018
We've stayed here a couple of times and love it. It's so nice and peaceful. It's perfect for a weekend getaway.
Ellen M. Aug 2018
The refrigerator doors reversed.
Safety bars in tub/shower
Knobs on dryer
Ashleigh P. Jul 2018
They were every where
The property managers were not available the first night when I tried to call them after we arrived, the phone number on the fridge may not be valid...
Bring matches - the started on the drill does not work.
We liked the closeness to the river and the screened in porch. The fenced in dogs.
The place was okay. I mean just okay. There was good and bad.
The kitchen was over run by ants. We had to leave the trash can outside...
The toilet flushes really loud and the door for the second bedroom won't stay open... slams shut everytime
Manager response:
We spoke with this guest while in the cabin and showed her where the lighter was for the grill, and she said she already sprayed for ants before our arrival Ants come in every time we have a lot of rain, so we keep ant spray under the sink in addition to having the home treated quarterly. No ants were noticed by the housekeeper prior to their arrival otherwise we would have sprayed it ourselves. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have followed-up with housekeeping about properly stocking the home with garbage bags, and we have double-checked all provided numbers for local contacts. Thank you!
Stephen L. Jul 2018
Didn't like the gravel road to the rental but when we got there it was situated at the end of the road and very private... Had a fenced front yard for the dogs and nice hot tub on the back porch. Cable connection and good television reception made the quiets nights go fast... Brought my fishing rod and caught a 12" small mouth bass that I released so that others will enjoy catching him. It is close to all types of activities so we were never bored. A nice place to get away to.
Danielle P. Jun 2018
Loved it!
Edward S. Jun 2018
The house is really a cabin type atmosphere. The finishes etc. look like a summer cabin. If your looking for an upper end accommodation this is not it. It's a very comfortable, homey, Grandma's house kind of place. We loved sitting on the screen porch when it was raining, and on the deck when it was sunny. We used the gas grill at least 9 times for suppers. (We emptied the one gas bottle and started on the new one) We used the hot tub most evenings, it was great! The town of Blue Ridge is very dog friendly! We were able to take her in to most places. Take the time to visit Grumpy Old Men's brewery, fantastic beer and great people there! Also if you like folk pottery visit Smoke on the Mountain Pottery, the owner Rob is a real gem and does great work along with very reasonable prices. This vacation rates up there in our top 5 of all time!
Lisa T. May 2018
Cup of coffee on the covered back porch with the sound of the river was very relaxing as well as the hot tub in the evening.
Shirley E. May 2018
We loved the cabin being by the water and also able to enjoy the mountain view. Everything was well stocked.
Lynda U. Apr 2018
It was a great stay..
Susan R. Jan 2018
Our stay was wonderful. The cabin is peaceful and we were able to relax, which is exactly what we needed.
Kimberly Y. Nov 2017
What a great cozy cottage at the end of a gravel drive. Barbara delivered us great customer service showing us the southern hospitality that we love. We had a slight issue upon our arrival and she diligently responded on a Sunday. She said that she should would send someone out and sure enough by the time we returned from exploring Downtown Blue Ridge the problem was resolved. The cottage was set up nicely and no detail was left out.
Bud W. Oct 2017
We had a wonderful peaceful stay at dog with Creekside. The outside porch was great, listening to the creek and my husband able to do his jewelry business. It was very tranquil and we had a hard time leaving on Saturday morning. My father passed away in August so it was a perfect place to just relax and rest. Thank you so much.
Suzanne W. Aug 2017
I couldn't wait to get back to this cabin at the end of the day just to be in complete peace, sitting out on the porch and deck drinking some wine and listening to that Creek
Gloria S. Aug 2017
The cabin was very clean and roomy. The one complaint is that it would be great if there was actually access to get to the creek. Loved the deck at the creek and the fire pit.
Kristen K. Jul 2017
We loved every second we spent in Dogwood Creekside. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the creek run, and the cabin was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We will definitely be back and we love renting with Sundance - this is our third time!
Douglas B. Jun 2017
The home was just as advertised. It was spotless, secluded and just perfect!
Danielle C. May 2017
We enjoyed our weekend stay at Dogwood Creekside. This cabin was nice and cozy and had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. We will definitely be coming back again soon!
Charlotte W. Apr 2017
We loved Dogwood Creekside cottage! Like going to an upscale version of granny's house! Rustic yet well decorated with beautiful items. Loved the glass top table on the screen porch!!! The fenced yard was perfect for our fur babies, they are always leashed when outside and they couldn't get enough of running free in the yard. The deck on the river was just awesome, we can't wait to plan a longer stay in your cottage!!!
Brenda E. Apr 2017
Only thing needed was limbs trimmed away for easier access for fishing so lines wouldn't get tangled up.Even from the deck area provided access to creek for fishing not easy. A couple of new frying pans would be nice the teflon coating on the ones there were shot . The location was great and we enjoyed our stay there.
Ron L. Feb 2017
Having the fenced yard with our two dogs was the best. Everything was there that was needed. The hot tub was already to go and the sounds of the creek was so relaxing. Most of all the Sundance Rental management was the reason I didn't book anywhere else, very well managed when I needed something Barbara answered right of way. The wifi worked for us and loved having all the TV channels. Just a perfect long weekend.
Michael M. Feb 2017
Cabin was clean and well equipped. Hot tub was great and the service and helpfulness was in the good ole Southern tradition. We will be back for sure.
