We had a great time staying here! It was tight, but totally doable with myself and my two sisters. The house is so cute and we had no issues with appliances or anything. The only things to note are that the windows don’t open well so it can get quite hot, but we were able to cool down by opening the door. The front door is also up quite a few steep stairs and a small grass hill, so this would not be a good option if anyone has mobility challenges.

Cute little house, loved how they have the kitchen bathroom and bedroom stocked with amenities. This is a plus!! The down side is that there is no washer or dryer to wash your clothes . Also a full size mirror would be great if one is added !! Other than that I would highly recommend and will stay again .

Lovely lil spot to escape the city. Local neighborhood with an easy walk to the beach and main roadway. Rustic and analog style accommodations.

Awesome little shack with lots of character. We had a great time. Bed is full size with footboard. Tall people beware.

This place is perfect for a bit of family getaway, a friendly and cozy little Hideaway.

I think you guys under stated this place. A funky old cottage which was nicely outfitted I was worried it would be too small for my daughter and my self not we loved it. Thanks

Not much bigger than a hotel room, but it was perfect for someone traveling alone!

House was Quaint, That's about it. Ceiling Light fixture Didn't
work. Kitchen light/ceiling fan fixture, Fan worked No Lights.
Went to the local store, Bought bulbs, Didn't work.
Had to cook by FLASHLIGHT. If I was going to go CAMPING I
would not have rented a cabin.
Most of the dishes and cook ware had either food or grease, or rust in and on them. Very Disgusting
Manager response:

We hope that the refund that you were given has helped with some resolution for the issue you experienced. I had a great time staying here. The house was quiet and cozy. I appreciated the large amount of towels.

This house is very cute. It captures the historical Rockaway Beach vibe. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cups, plates & silverware. Internet worked great and there were several TV options. This place is perfect for a couple. We love that it is dog friendly for our small dog. We just needed a place to crash at night during the summer after we played on the beach all day. The stairway going up to the home has motion lights so it was easy to see when we returned after dark. There is one parking spot and it was tight for a large SUV but we were able to fit by parallel parking. This house is fairly close to shops and the beach. We read the reviews before booking. Those were very helpful. As this house is charming, it is an older home with a few quirks. If you are expecting something new and modern, this is not the place for you.

Love this little sea shack! Simple, charming, a sunny and surprisingly private porch. It’s nestled up a small hillside among other homes. We had a great time. Hope to be back soon!

Just not what I expected. Too small and cramped with things that didn't really go with the decor of the house.
Manager response:
We apologize that it was smaller than you were expecting. We do provide photos on our listings for our guests to scroll through to make sure they set their expectations accurately before their trip. Thank you for the feedback.

Lovely how dog friendly this little old cabin is. Also very close walk to the beach and town.

The Happy Crabby Shack was just the perfect size for our small family of three (and our small dog). A short stroll to the beach, and it had all that we required for our weekend stay. A clean and cozy base for a couple to get away in the summer.

Location to the beach and town are great but that’s all that is good about this place. It could be a really nice cottage if the owner took care of it and made a few changes. It’s supposed to be dog friendly but the “Lawn” was so long that it was as tall as our Yorkshire terrier. The house leans downhill so when you sit on the uncomfortable leather love seat you slide forward. The bed is a double, my 6’ tall husband had to sleep diagonally and I had to sleep on the extremely uncomfortable sleeper sofa. The tiny place is so full of old unnecessary furniture that it feels even smaller. There wasn’t any non-skid in the tub/shower and it was very slippery. When I put my hand out to keep from falling my hand slid down the slippery shower curtains that go all the way around the whole tub.
We were told it had been cleaned to Covid standards but there were bugs in the tub, the many shower curtains were moldy. Our socks were filthy in an hour of walking on the floor. The kitchen utensils and dishes had to be washed before we could use them. The extra blankets for the sofa bed were dirty.

It certainly wasn’t worth $150 a night. Three days prior we were in a 3 bedroom waterfront house with steps to the beach for $189 a night.

So disappointed in this place!
Manager response:
Hi, Kristen! Thank you for letting us know about your stay. The landscaping has been addressed, and the home has a queen bed. We will follow-up with housekeeping regarding the cleanliness issues. Thank you!

The house is nice it does seem to settle low in some parts but my stay was really enjoyable and I do look forward to staying there again in the future.

Had everything we needed for a good price. We liked the small cozy layout and the quiet neighborhood location. Even liked the 50's GE push button range, which worked great for pizza (it did run about 50 degrees too hot, going by the hanging temperature gauge.)

What we didn't like was that it is a cold unit. We were there in early October with night temperatures in the lower 50's and we ran the heaters (one of which is very loud) in the evenings and again in the mornings, bathroom being the chilliest. Maybe some house slippers could be provided, and there are plenty of blankets.

The house is clean but needs some electrical work and plumbing work. The tub wouldn't drain . Also if you use the microwave and the toaster at the same time it trips the breaker and shuts the power to the kitchen off. It seems unsafe to have so many things running off power strips. I also wouldn't recommend this place to older people. There is a lot of stairs you have to carry luggage up! I didn't know about that when I made the reservation. My husband has heart problems and it was a challenge for him. Very disappointing!
Manager response:
Hi, Gary! We are sorry to see you were disappointed and appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your visit. The tub drain has been unclogged, the cords and power strips have been tidied up, and the electrical issue with the microwave and toaster has been fixed. We do hope to see you again.

Quaint, quiet and great location

This place was great. Very small and simple. It was clear the place hadn't been used in a while and it wasn't very clean. But if it you're just sleeping there, this place is great.
Julee H. Nov 2018
A sweet little beach house with all the amenities.
Rachel R. Sep 2018
Well it’s an adorable little house, the only problem I had is I’m disabled I have two artificial knees and I have severe degenerative joint arthritis so had I’d known there was more than just the steps on the deck to climb I would not have booked somewhere else so I’m telling you this so maybe you should put a note in your add letting people know that if they are disabled this might not be the place for them
Dorene J. Jul 2018
Nothing at all.
Caleb O. Jul 2018
Location is great, it has so much potential to be charming and quirky. It falls short with the cleanliness (animal hair on blankets/dirty dishes) and that sliding glass door; doesn't feel very secure.
Manager response:
We have addressed the cleanliness issues. Thank you!
