Waterfront log cabin on Moosehead Lake w/dock, kayaks & views

The quintessential Maine log cabin gets a stylish, hand-crafted update at this Greenville home, a waterfront retreat on the shores of Moosehead Lake with a private swimming dock, two kayaks to take out on summer mornings, and a deck with spectacular views of the water and the distant mountains!

What's nearby:
This lakefront escape is part of the Nevermore Cabins, a gorgeous compound on the Burnt Jacket Peninsula with almost a century of history as part of the Allagash youth camp. Today, you'll be in the midst of 12 acres of woodland trails and shoreline, nine miles south of Lily Bay State Park, and 10 miles north of downtown Greenville (which is also reachable by boat or snowmobile across the lake). Come wintertime, you'll be just 18 miles east of Big Squaw Mountain.

Things to know:
Free WiFi
Kitchenette with a small refrigerator, stove, and oven, as well as a microwave and coffee maker
The dock is for swimming/sitting only, and not for mooring a boat
Docks and kayaks available, weather and lake conditions permitting, June through September
*Winter Guests: Please note that a 4 wheel drive vehicle is required for winter, the road only gets plowed after five inches of snow and the driveway can only fit a two place trailer and one vehicle. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

The home was very clean, beautiful and the views are absolutely stunning. The location is extremely private (there is a cabin to the left but you can't really see it and we didn't hear a peak from the neighbors). We had a wonderful stay except for the sleeping arrangements. The bunk bed in the kid's room has some issues - first, it has no ladder, so there is no easy way to get to the top bunk at all, second, the top bunk is very high, giving you just a few inches to the wood beam above your head (like being in a coffin), and third, there is no rail to keep kids from falling out (and it is a long way down onto a hardwood floor if they do fall). We found the upper bunk bed to be unusable and my 10 & 7 year olds had to cram into the twin sized lower bunk. One of them tried sleeping on the couch, but the dead animals on the walls (especially the very creepy badger) totally freaked them out so that didn't work either. Also, the cabin has only 4 very flat, thin pillows for BOTH bedrooms. We really could have used some extra pillows in the cabin.

Superbly designed, appointed with flare for detail and comfort. The close proximity to the water unparalleled in the many places we have rented. Listened to the waves and the loons from the bed. Feels very private even though a building next door due to clever positioning. Loved hoping in the kayaks after morning coffee. Hiking nearby and town not too far.

Everything in the home to cook with! Location simply beautiful. Everything you need to relax.

Loved every minute of our week here. The cabin is great. Kayaked to the various islands, hiked a few mountains, and sat for hours on the porch enjoying the view.

Rustic, scenic, isolated log cabin with postcard views if lake and mountains.
Painless exchange of entry info.
Only glitch was incorrect WiFi password and despite email to Vacasa, never received reply which made me feel like they didn’t care.
One star taken off for poor company communications
Manager response:
Hi James! Thank you for your review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the home and location. We apologize for the poor communication and appreciate the opportunity to improve the experience for future guests. We hope to host you again!

We loved the location ( on the lake). And, the setting is gorgeous. But, unfortunately, we couldn’t cook anything since the stove/oven didn’t work. But, we ate with family next door. And, the bunk beds were too wobbly to sleep in..... hello couch.
Manager response:
We sincerely apologize we missed turning the propane back on after the counter work was finished. This has been rectified. Thank you!
