Dog-friendly beachfront cabin with ocean views & private path to beach

Rocks Cabin is a unique, rustic home located on a one-acre beachfront lot. Situated 50 feet above sea level, the home is approximately 200 feet from the sand dunes, affording a great perch and unobstructed view of the beach, surf, and ocean sights. Described as a botanical paradise with completely native old-growth vegetation including false Lily of the Valley, Indian Celery, various types of rainforest ferns, flowers, and native plants. Tucked in the old-growth Sitka Spruce Conifers, privacy is optimum. This home is an ideal spot to bird watch, and winter storm watching is incredible! The roar of the surf can be amazing; even from inside the cabin. The cabin itself is rustic in decor, with a wood-burning fireplace. Electric heat is also available to assure your comfort. A ladder with hand-rail takes you to the loft area, which offers two twin beds. The ladder has a 250 lb. weight limit.

What's nearby:
Below Rocks Cabin is a long and wide expanse of gorgeous shoreline, that even in the height of summer, you may find you have all to yourself. This beach is also the only designated light airplane airstrip on the entire Pacific Coast, so get ready for airway commuters to drop in for a morning spring razor clam dig. Gray whales migrate by Copalis in April/May and Oct/Nov. The blows can be seen with the naked eye from the cabin, but bring binoculars to get better views. The well maintained private path to the beach is utterly delightful! Take a nice stroll through towering trees and blossoming vegetation, with seasonal babbling brooks. You are just over five miles from the quaint town of Pacific Beach to the north, about 45 minutes from Lake Quinault and its beautiful trails through the rainforest, and a short drive to Ocean Shores, where you will find the Casino, many restaurants, and activities for the kids.

If you are looking for a peaceful private getaway on the coast this is it! Fishing viewing nature, etc.
Mary F. Jul 2022
This roomy, charming cabin is tastefully furnished, well-provided and has beautiful exposed wood beam ceilings, wall paneling and new flooring. We thoroughly enjoyed the large deck and expansive indoor views of the mouth of the Copalis river and shoreline with great appreciation for the privacy of the natural surrounding. The woodstove is a treasure and kept us cozy when we needed it. There are many quirks and if you are looking for the ease of a shining modern unit, this is not the place for you. We loved it and already have plans to return next year!
Tim B. Jul 2022
Fantastic time to unplug and unwind. Great secluded access to the beach. The place is the perfect example of a pnw mountain cabin. Plenty of space for a family of four.
Gary M. Jul 2022
We love the great location and feeling like you are in a tree house. Great views, private beach and cozy cabin.
Laverda H. Jun 2022
Loved the view, old, comfy sofas and solitude.
Justin J. Jun 2022
Was a great get away residence
Lisa M. May 2022
Absolutely loved this cabin and am so grateful to the family for sharing it.

Beach access was easy, but not for people who struggle with stairs. Kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and pans.

For those who felt it was too rustic, that's a matter of taste. Personally, I chose this cabin because it doesn't look like another tract home in the suburbs. This isn't the place to stay if that's what you want. But if you want a cabin with a timeless feel, surrounded by woods and a great view of the beach, this is the place.

I read that at some point the family plans to replace with a new build, which makes me very sad. I'll plan to come back until then, but a new, contemporary build will not have the magic of this cabin.

Location, location, location and view of the ocean! Great private pathway to the expansive beach, which our little dog loved. The cabin itself is cozy but shabby. Beware of uneven floors and the tiny, dark and dreary bathroom. The sun deck is wonderful though, with nice outdoor furniture. The little kitchen was adequate, with a newer refrigerator. Great tasting cold tap water too. The bed and bedding was so-so. Enjoyed the quiet gated community for walking the pup.
Donavon M. Apr 2022
The stay was great. We enjoyed the beautiful view, the privacy, the (relatively) short walk down to the beach, the grill on the patio, and the electric heat. We were mostly fine with the fact that the cabin was outdated, although there were little things that could have been better for not a lot of time/money. The wood stove was also nice but very old, so unless you know what you're doing and bring your own wood/tools, you might not be able to enjoy it. Overall, we were happy and plan to return.
Michelle M. Apr 2022
The view is to die for, great location, private, rustic old cottage. We had a great time with our dogs and really enjoyed the little traffic on the beach and cozy fireplace to warm up. Being between a river and creeks very few cars venture onto this beach. The trail to the beach is well maintained. The house is a very quaint cottage, if you are looking for perfect or new this is not the place for you. If you have mobility issues and want to go to the beach this house is also not for you. The location is great for taking day trips to Lake Quinault or Hoh rain forest.

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Jim as he was replacing some deck chairs and when clam digging.

We will be back.
Tami M. Mar 2022
Beach access to the best clam digging in the area! Rustic and peaceful.
Marcia F. Mar 2022
We loved the view and being close enough to hear the ocean. The trail to the ocean is well kept. The pot belly stove is a nice touch. The downside, the mattress needs replaced. We woke up with backaches
Manager response:
Hi Marcia! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. We passed your comments along to our local manager to review and we appreciate guests’ preferences as a means to continually improve. We look forward to hosting your next stay!
Lonnie M. Jan 2022
Cozy older cabin with wood stove as well as electric heat. Kitchen was supplied with dishes and utensils. Everything was in working order. We took the steep but well manicured trail down to the beach. Awesome ocean view from the deck.
Rachel B. Dec 2021
This cabin is our favorite place to stay each December for our anniversary. We've stayed here since 2017. The view is perfect, beach access is right outside, its quiet, cozy, and reminds me of grandmas house. Whip up some steak and crab for dinner, relax in front of the crackling wood stove in the evening, and comb the never-ending sandy beach all day long. Want to sample the BEST clam chowder?? Visit the Green Lantern Pub about 10 minutes south. Want to get some shopping done? Ocean Shores is 20 minutes south, and the new hollywood/mayberry-ish town of Seabrook is 10 minutes north. Grab all your main grocery staples at Safeway in Aberdeen on the way, but utilize the quaint little Copalis Beach Grocery for last-minute needs (and fire wood bundles!). “See” you next year!!!!!

We've been coming to this same beach community for 30 years now and absolutely love this place. This cabin has great beach access and is super cute. It's a little light on work space in the kitchen so consider doing some prep work ahead of time. If you're up for a great escape and prioritize cabin charm over shiny and new this is your place.
Kari Y. Nov 2021
We really enjoyed staying on the beachfront with our pup! It was raining heavily when we arrived, which was so nice to listen to hitting the roof. The next day before leaving, we were able to take the path right down to the beach. We enjoyed the throwback of going through the VHS collection - though we did have to MacGyver the cords for 30+ minutes to get the audio/video to work. A new set would do wonders,

It would have been helpful to know prior to arriving that firewood was not provided for the wood stove. We had stopped at a market on the way, but did not grab wood thinking it was included. It was raining and getting dark so we weren't looking to go back out again for the evening. Would also be helpful to list that AWD is recommended on the listing, rather than on the check in instructions day of.
Manager response:
Thank you, Kari, for your feedback! We are happy you enjoyed this home. Please know that your feedback is essential, and we have passed your comments along to our local manager, who will work with the homeowner to make any updates. We genuinely hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future!

The view of the ocean is awesome!
John T. Sep 2021
We loved the view, the beach access and waking up to find planes on the beach w/the pilots digging for razor clams
Gary S. Sep 2021
Loved the view, the amenities, quiet, peaceful, quaint.
Alexa D. Aug 2021
This mini vacation is just what I needed after finishing my first Christmas book. The cabin's deck overlooked the beach, and there was a path that led directly to the powdery sand. I loved the rustic feel of being in a wooded area, and I didn't expect the cabin to be perfect, but it was charming and peaceful and that was what I'd hoped for. The worst part of my entire stay was having to go home too soon.
Marcy P. Mar 2021
We had a great time at this fun quirky little cabin. The location and view was perfect.. and exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, peaceful but close to Ocean Shores for a little fun shopping and great fish and chips. We were lucky to have both sunshine and stormy weather over our 5 days... and the cabin had pretty much everything one needs... from the BBQ to a very comfy bed. One downside was the lack of info on the site regarding firewood for the stove. We didn't know we had to supply our own so it meant a special trip to find some to buy. That was no problem but it would have been nice to know ahead of our arrival. I would highly recommend this little cabin for anyone looking for a quiet beach escape. Thank you
SALLY b. Feb 2021
We love this rustic little cabin, and its great proximity to the beach! It has a nice view also- a perfect getaway...
Mary S. Feb 2021
We had an amazing time at the rocks cabin. The house itself, as reviews state, is "unfancy" but very comfy and cozy. I think they have made some updates since a few of these reviews as well. The floors looked fairly new. There is a trail that connects the house directly to the beach for easy access! And like people have stated, the beach is super secluded! We will certainly be back.
Ian F. Dec 2020
Gorgeous place that has some character! Had fun dinner party with friends then went exploring solo checking out the homes and neighborhoods by Iron Springs. The bakery and coffee down the street at Seabrook was a stellar morning pit spot.
Shawn C. Dec 2020
The wild weather didn't encourage strolling on the beach, but that's okay. The thing i liked most was the vibe the little cabin radiated, so i enjoyed watching and hearing the ocean from inside. Very nice 'n' mellow.

The cabin definitely could use a little bit of minor upkeep, thus the missing star, but that really doesn't bother me because i'm going back.
Paul R. Oct 2020
The home's location is its strongest calling card with access to a quiet stretch of beach from a path descending directly from the back of the home. The home itself is an older beach home that serves its purpose of providing shelter with the necessities needed to enjoy a few days at the beach.
Gale L. Oct 2020
We loved it!!! Had all we needed, bed was comfy. House a little worn but certainly clean. The path from the beach isn't a bad climb either. We would go back.
Muhammad B. Aug 2020
This is a great place to spend a few days by a beautiful, isolated, private beach where you can walk for a couple of miles and see only a handful of other people, if at all. But understand what you're paying for - the beach! The cabin itself is pretty basic - I don't agree with the 'rustic' characterization because rustic implies intent. What you have is a pretty basic cabin that has probably not seen any attention after its initial set up 20-30 years ago. Don't get me wrong - everything works and the cabin is very functional. But understand what you're paying for - the beach access and views off the deck!
Riley C. Jul 2020
We rented this home for our family Christmas in July. It was perfect for what we wanted!
If your looking for a modern 5 star. Skip this house.

If you want a rustic, ocean view, private beach house. This is for you! The house had everything we needed. The walk to the beach is short and quick. The private beach allows your family to be completely yourself while hunting for star fish, sand dollars, etc.

Highly recommended. We will be back!
Deanna L. Jul 2020
The view is spectacular and walking the private beach wonderful. The cabin needs some luv. The oven / stove wasn’t working but made due with microwave. Watching the tide come in and out was our favorite entertainment never turned on tv. Local support was fantastic.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with Vacasa! We are pleased to hear that the home met your expectations! Thank you for making mention of items in the home that need some TLC. We take this feedback seriously and please know that local staff is available to assist with any issues you encounter while in the home. We hope to have the chance to host you again. Thank you!

This small beach side cabin was great for a quick getaway. The views and private beach access were top notch. A few things could have been updated furniture wise as they feel and look like they have been well used. The one thing that desperately needs to be updated however are the sheets for the large king bed. They are terribly scratchy and uncomfortable. Overall a great place for a few nights.
Sara S. Jun 2020
The deck was my favorite spot!
tatyana r. May 2020
I have been staying in this place for more than 7 years. Spectacular view and private beach access is what you need if you want to get away on a weekend.
Jeff S. May 2020
Awesome getaway! The house was perfect for the four of us. Amazing access to a quiet beach, views of the sea and comfortable amenities. Would absolutely recommend! Kitchen has all tools and utensils you'll need but no spices, oil, etc so be sure to bring your own.
Donald A. Mar 2020
Great place to stay.
Lisa P. Mar 2020
House was small but cozy. There was a small slide on the only road coming in. As I am a combat vet and ex-fire fighter, so it made me a bit nervous not having an escape route with a storm coming in, so we left early Great bed! I couldn't get the satellite dish to work. However, it was quickly fixed the next day.
Manager response:
We are sorry to read you were caused any distress during your stay. We have not seen any slide on the road, especially with the weather so great and the road being clear. This road is consistently worked on to ensure it is clear and safe for travel. Thank you!
Ian D. Jan 2020
We needed a little getaway a couple weekends ago and the Rocks Cabin was the perfect spot for my wife and I. We lucked out with mostly dry weather - the views are amazing and it's an easy walk down to Copalis Beach. For a couple to get away for a weekend (of even a smidge longer) Rocks Cabin is perfect. We cannot wait to go back!
Douglas H. Jan 2020
Super cute and fun, even in the rain.
Arthur H. Jan 2020
Enjoyed (4 nights)/(3 days) of very peace getaway at the Rocks Cabin.

Main things we really enjoy about the cabin that brought us back again:
1. Wonderful view/sounds of the ocean. I estimate the high-tide mark at about 300 yards from the deck.
2. Tucked in the woods, so the cabin is very private and secluded. We did hear one airplane, and the neighbor's dog barked occasionally. Other than that, total feeling of solitude! NO highway noise at all.
3. Rustic charm. This cabin has definitely been there a long time. We find it inviting.
Rachel B. Dec 2019
This cabin is comfy, cozy, and so peaceful!! My husband and I visit every December for our anniversary and its always wonderful! If you are looking for lots of noise, public activity, fancy amenities, then this is NOT the place for you. The woodstove makes for the perfect relaxing evening and the sound of the waves crashing will put you right to sleep! There is cable tv so you can catch the news and weather, and movies to snuggle up with while you enjoy the fire. The kitchen is equipped with all the things you need to make a crab dinner and tasty breakfast. But I definitely recommend the little Green Lantern Pub in Copalis Beach for fantastic clam chowder! Or the Seagate just before Moclips for tasty pizza :) The furnishings in the cabin are dated but oh so comfortable! The deck looks out over the ocean and we always use the gas bbq for steak dinners. Be careful on the little path to beach, as the wooden steps are slippery! Enjoy!!
Jacob H. Dec 2019
The charming, rustic Rocks cabin was the perfect place for our winter beach retreat. The wood burning stove wasn't necessary to heat the house, but it made the place nice and cozy! It was too woolly outside to grill, but we found everything we needed to prepare all our meals in the kitchen. We recommend this place for hikers, but if all you wanted to do was sit by the fire and read while listening to rain on the roof and the ocean out your door, you'd be very happy here.
mark w. Dec 2019
Peaceful and private. Easy access to beach and perfect for time out from technology and normal life.
Victoria K. Oct 2019
This place was just what we wanted for a quick weekend getaway. The view is amazing, the place was cozy and we had the beach mostly to ourselves. The baseboard heaters don't seem to throw much heat, so things got chilly overnight but a fire in the wood stove warmed us up fast.
Chad M. Oct 2019
The view from the deck and front room is breathtaking. We loved our time in this cabin.
CRAIG L. Oct 2019
Cabin is a little funky but delightful. Wood heat stove if you want to use it. Beach is wonderful, a very short walk. Views of the Pacifid. But the directions to the cabin were horrible. I came at night and had to knock on neighbor's doors to figure out where it was.
Tara C. Sep 2019
The cabin was rustic and a bit run down, but we knew this going into the rental. What appealed to us most, was the private walk to the beach which was quiet and peaceful. We were appreciative of being able to bring our two shepherds as well; they absolutely adored being able to romp on the beach and swim in the ocean.
My husband, who is a recreational pilot was hoping to catch a plane land on the only FAA sanctioned airport in the US, but no luck over the week.

Thank you for sharing your home with our pack.
Brian C. Sep 2019
This is a great place to get away from it all. The rustic cabin is very relaxing with its ocean view. There is a trail to the tranquil beach and the dogs loved running till their heart was content. We have already planned another trip for the dog’s vacation. They Give it 5 bones. Lol 😝
alan k. Jun 2019
The cabin is not luxurious. It is a rustic no frills beach cabin with a tremendous deck. The path to the beach is also rustic. A great place to stay, just to leave the hustle and bustle behind.
Mandi R. Jun 2019
This property was absolutely stunning! Beach access is just 7 minutes walk from the house to the sand - and the walk itself is enchanting.
The home is the perfect size for a family of four and has ample space for everyone. The big bed was comfy and the kids loved the loft upstairs. The kitchen worked great for meal planning and the cable worked great die went everyone was too tired to play. No wifi needed! We will definitely be staying again.
SUSAN B. Jun 2019
We had a wonderful stay at Rocks Cabin. Great view from the deck. Could hear the ocean from the cabin. King bed was very comfortable. There is no wifi and limited cell service but we didn't mind. Cabin has cable tv but we didn't turn it on. The break from social media and news was refreshing. There is a nice wood stove and electric heat. Recommend you bring your own firewood and kindling. Walk about 100 yds to the beach on a private trail. We had the beach all to ourselves. We plan to stay here again.
KEITH G. Apr 2019
A fantastic rustic cabin that is a short hike down to the beach. Semi secluded surrounded by large fir trees with a large deck. Lots of windows to view the beach, ocean and sunsets. Inside you can enjoy the sound of the waves even if the door to the deck is closed. We will definitely be coming back.

PS The beach below is the only beach airport in the United States.

Sally B. Mar 2019
We love this rustic little cabin in the woods! It is a very short walk to the beach, and private. In addition, there is a wonderful view to enjoy. The cabin has alot of character, and all the basic essentials you need for cooking, and your overnight stays.
Michael O. Mar 2019
The home is well appointed and private. Its a quiet area with great beach access and ocean views. The beds are comfortable and the wood stove is the perfect add.
James H. Mar 2019
Nice fireplace. Very good amenities and well stocked with kitchen equipment. Great view of ocean
jessica b. Mar 2019
The view from the back deck is 5 star. The cabin is homey and comfortable, though a bit dated. quiet neighborhood, lots of privacy, hardly anyone on the beach and it was fun to watch the small planes land and take off from the beach directly behind the cabin.
Carole H. Mar 2019
Have been here many times! It’s rustic and basic but we love the rough ambiance, view of winter sea and hike to the beach. Was worried when we heard vacasa took over, given lack of local management, but fees were higher but not extraordinary and everything worked out as scheduled.
Manager response:
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us! Please know that local staff is in the area available to assist guests if there is anything that you may need while in the home. We look forward to hosting you next time!
Cheryl b. Feb 2019
this is a lovely home-- it's a little rustic, could use some better lighting and a few other things, but the view was stunning, the fireplace was wonderful, the king size bed was one of the most comfy beds we've slept in! the kitchen was well reasonably well supplied (bring spices if you like to cook) and the walk to the beach was easy-- When we checked in (and they allowed us an early check in) the house was already warm and ready for us-- just wonderful!!
Manager response:
It was such a pleasure hosting you, Cheryl! Thank you for taking the time to share so many detailed thoughts with us- we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at this home. We will pass your suggestion regarding the lighting onto our management team! Please visit with us again soon!
Sandra C. Dec 2018
Great area on the WA coast! Quiet and relaxing and the best part was getting to enjoy Long Beach walks with our beloved 4 legged family! We loved being so close to the beach and in December had the beaches to ourselves!
RC . Dec 2017
Great location, nice cabin, great view, and gorgeous beach. Everything was great!I didn't know that the beach is also an airport (!) which is pretty cool. We didn't see any planes, and the guest book on the beach was pretty empty of recent arrivals. The trail from the cabin to the beach was very pretty, and the beach itself was amazing (it is nice that cars can't drive on it). We had dogs with us, and they loved it all, as did we.
Andrew . Oct 2017
The cabin is a bit on the rustic side but what you're getting here are the views and easy access to a huge stretch of almost deserted beach. Great views and bird and nature watching. The sunsets were disappointing during our stay as it always seemed to cloud up in the evenings in June, but watching a storm from here would be amazing. The Rocks Cabin would make a great writer's or artist's retreat.
