Unique cottage house in the historic district with deck & WiFi - dogs OK

Make yourself at home in Savannah's prestigious downtown historic district at this charming cottage, which was built in 1870 as a carriage house to the neighboring manor. You'll enjoy 1,200 square feet of thoughtfully restored living space with lofty ceilings, tall windows, a wide staircase, an open, airy layout, and a 43' Smart TV. This home even features its own gated courtyard and deck, convenient driveway parking, and an unbeatable location within walking distance of Savannah's restaurants, squares, and museums!

What's nearby:
This home is located in the southeast quadrant of the historic district, where it sits among gas-lit streets, brick sidewalks, and live oaks draped with Spanish moss in the largest landmark historic district in the nation. Here on a residential street within Georgia's original colonial borders, you'll be across the street from Beasley Park, one block from the famous Savannah squares, five blocks east of Forsyth Park, 10 blocks south of the Savannah River, and a five-to-10-minute walk from cafes, shops, and restaurants. (Depending on weather, physical agility, and time of day, the owner agrees that using your car or grabbing a quick Uber/Lyft can be helpful, depending on the destination you have in mind.) The Taylor Cottage was very welcoming upon arriving. It is a lovely place to stay that is conveniently located to the many things to do in Savannah. I will definitely be staying there again.
Selena W. Jun 2022
The location was great. The place had everything we needed to accommodate us. It was also nice to have someone stay in touch while we were there. The only con was the pull out beds could be updated, neither were comfortable.
JIm P. Jun 2022
Cute, clean, and spacious. Five adults and two dogs have plenty of room. Location was great everything is walkable.
Sherry M. Apr 2022
We really enjoyed our stay here! Beds were comfy, and we really liked that fans were provided upstairs. The parking instructions were way more complicated than necessary. Basically, it's the right side parking spot. Location was good for walking. This is in an alley on Jones Lane, which you will need to use your phone maps to find because the road is not marked. Not to be confused for Jones Street which is the next street. Even though it was an alley, it was still nice with a lot of people walking their dogs or just taking walks.
Manager response:
Sherry, we are so glad that we succeeded in making your travel experience a memorable one though we're sorry to hear that there were a few details amiss during your time with us. We will review our parking instructions for any revisions needed, and we look forward to welcoming you back during your next stay in the area!

The good: I think the house had all the necessities and it’s in a pretty good location to Savannah. It was overall clean and spacious. The bathrooms were nice, lots of hot water. Definitely walking friendly, but stay west of Broad. Famous Jones street is right there, and absolutely beautiful. I had a question and the agency texted me back pretty much right away and answered my question. Screamin’ Mimi’s was great pizza delivery. The not so good: The house is in an alley, which the address does not exist on Uber (Lyft is fine and so is apple maps). We arrived during the day had to walk around to find it since our uber couldn’t, but I definitely would have felt unsafe walking to find the house at night since we’re two women with luggage. Happened to us again the next night, this uber driver mentioned this is common in Savannah. We ended up having to use the corner house’s address from there on out and walking up the alley. Not the biggest deal, but still frustrating, I wish I was warned or given further instructions. Also the parking, says it’s for 540 and 542, but the house is “541” soooo what? We just crossed our fingers we chose the right side. Finally, the house had dirty dishes put back into the pantry, actual food crust on multiple plates, bowls, and forks. Overall, I’ve stayed in lots of Airbnbs/VRBO/Vacasa and this one was good, but could have a few improvements to be great. I’d stay here again if I needed to.
Manager response:
We're glad you stayed with us, Elizabeth. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience you experienced with the home's location and our oversight regarding the dirty dishes. These concerns have been passed on to the appropriate parties. Thank you!

It's a cute home, located in a pretty, historic neighborhood. Comfortable, but furnishings and kitchen supplies a little tired and incomplete. The freezer was inoperable, the handle would come off in your hand, and it seemed risky to try to open it, but we only stayed for two nights so our ice kept well in the refrigerator. The cover to the downstairs shower drain was not attached to the drain. In the future, I will look at the invoice more closely. Our rate was $159/night, but after fees it was $310/night. We definitely could have found nicer lodging for $300/night. It was no big deal to take out the trash and run the dishwasher , but with a 10:00 AM checkout time (the earliest I've ever encountered) and a $115 cleaning fee, I think guests should not be expected to do any chores. We won't stay there again.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Kathleen! We're sorry to read you had some difficulties with your experience. The freezer is in the process of replacement, and the shower drain is secure. We apologize if you felt kitchen supplies were lacking and appreciate any specifics that will help us improve for our guests. Hopefully we can have an opportunity to host you in the future!

Loved the home and it’s location. Walking distance to everything. Pet friendly as well!
Judy O. Aug 2021
The cottage was quaint and clean. The beds were comfy and we had plenty of clean towels. Driving downtown was easy and just minutes away. We felt safe and enjoyed our stay.
Heidi S. Aug 2021
This place is beautiful, and I loved the decor, the location and the binder filled with all sorts of information. It was clean and well stocked, everything we needed was there.
Kiaira N. Aug 2021
The cottage location was great however certain amenities such as an iron or a full length mirror weren't anywhere in the home. Also, the handle to the freezer was slightly broken and hard to open. The owner did leave a notebook of things to do around savannah which was very helpful.
James P. Aug 2021
This was a wonderful rental and very quiet. I will definitely stay there again, and with my daughter attending SCAD in the near future. I hope to stay there many times. Decorated cute and comfortable. Highly recommend!
This was a perfect space for our three-night stay in Savannah. It’s on the southern (i.e. quiet) side of the historic district so away from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to walk to everything. All the amenities were there so we didn’t want for anything. 5/5 stars and I would definitely book again on my next trip to Savannah.

Taylor Cottage is exactly as described. In the Historic District, you are able to walk to cafes, restaurants and historical sites. You are less than a block away from a large park and dog park. Tastefully decorated with everything you need and spotless. Our stay at Taylor Cottage was just delightful!
Jackie j. May 2021
This place is such a cool little restored historic cottage right in the heart of the historic district. It's quiet and peaceful and an easy, beautiful walk from lots of the things to see. Everything was comfortable and clean and all our needs were met. I'd stay here again and would recommend it!!
Cheryl K. May 2021
Very cute and comfortable. Great location.
William M. Apr 2021
Great location. Allows dogs. Close to dog park. 25 minutes to Tybee beach. Easy walk to river and historical areas. Well equipped home. Very clean. TV is a little high for easy viewing. Would like to see another small sofa or loveseat in main room. Smaller but very good value. Definitely would return again.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, William. We are glad you enjoyed this location and we appreciate you letting us know there is room for improvement. We will pass your comments to the homeowner for consideration, and we hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!
Richard L. Mar 2021
We had a great time in Savannah and this was the perfect location to do it. Easy to get everywhere, and a very comfortable home. We would suggest staying here if you can. Convenient to anything downtown and just a few minutes from the beach. We loved Savannah and a great location and comfortable home can make it even better. Thank you for making our vacation so wonderful. Highlights were Wormsloe which was amazing, and Leopolds for ice-cream was a must do. Fort Pulaski history was great.
Brenda S. Feb 2021
Conveniently located near downtown and other attractions.
Michelle H. Jan 2021
Very clean. It was a nice little place to settle in and a great location to explore the area on foot. It was a little difficult to find as it’s located in the alley.
Jamie S. Dec 2020

The house is in a great location. It is in walking distance to River Street. It was quite there as well. House is perfect for 2 couples or small family get away. The upstairs bedroom is the best room in the house. Would recommend this house to rent 100%

YVONNE B. Jun 2020
So cute! This home was really comfortable. It’s driveway was convenient and fenced in area outside was adorable. Comfortable bed and bedding. I loved the area too!
elizabeth t. Mar 2020
I was so thrilled to find this cottage so close to my sister's apartment on Jones Street while visiting recently. But my true surprise was how utterly charming the place is! The living and kitchen areas were truly spacious - especially for a "cottage". And the fact that it had a downstairs bedroom AND full bath was such a bonus. The beds were VERY comfortable, and the upstairs space was large and airy, with a high ceiling and a great soaking tub in the bathroom.

We loved the decor, and the fact that the house was situation on a Lane, so very little thru-traffic or noise of any kind. There was even a nice little spot out back to spend some time enjoying the outdoors.

Taylor Cottage will definitely be our go-to home away from home in Savannah!
Kathy B. Feb 2020
Perfect location for exploring historic Savannah. Home great for 4 adults and child and dog!!
Kathy D. Nov 2019
It had everything we needed ! Clean place !
Charles S. Nov 2019
Good location and pet-friendly.
Brenda M. Oct 2019
A girls week in this cute quaint cottage. It had everything we needed and more. It must have been recently remodeled and someone has an eye for decorating. We LOVED it!
Molly H. Oct 2019
The house was nice and clean, location is great. Has some very cute old charm. Nicely decorated and had everything we needed for the weekend. The parking spot was a definite bonus.
The pictures definitely make the house appear more spacious then it is. The site says the house fits 7 people and technically it does but it’s a very tight fit. This place would be more ideal for a group of 4-5, or just 2 adults with small kids. We had a few adults and teenagers, we felt very squished. All around wonderful weekend!
Linette S. Oct 2019
The Taylor house was perfect for our girls trip. The house was super clean! It’s in a great location- we walked to nearly everything we wanted to see. The cottage is in a neighborhood where we felt safe. We accidentally locked ourselves out, and someone from Vacasa was there within minutes to help us out. Would definitely stay there again!
Emma K. Oct 2019
I loved the convenience of checking in by retrieving the door key from a locked box. I loved the communication with the Vacasa App and emails. The house was clean and stocked well with everything you need in a home except groceries...of course. The ice maker was great! The jet rub was great! The email welcoming us to Savannah and and letting us know that person was the overseer of the property for the days I would be there—to email if I needed anything. The 3-D model of the house was helpful on the app too.
Tamara D. Oct 2019
It was nicely decorated and looked exactly like it was pictured. Very relaxing and cozy.
Mary Alice G. Sep 2019
Very comfortable, safe area, dog friendly! Nice kitchen. Ample room for the 4 of us.
Laurie N. Sep 2019
Walk into this sweet cottage and feel right at home. The 80 year olds shared the down stairs room and my daughter and I took the loft. It was perfect! Beautiful early morning walks for coffee. Great parking right I front, kitchen with all you need! The beds were very comfortable as were the oh so important pillows! Thank you for an amazing first time to SC, your Southern Charm did not dissappoint. 🥰
Alanna O. Jul 2019
My friends and I loved the Taylor cottage. It is on a side street so a bit hard to find but it was perfect for our stay. Enough room and bathrooms for 7 girls and Main Street allows easy pick up for Ubers. About 10 minutes to central downtown and bars.
Chris K. Jul 2019
It was great! Great space and great location!
Amelia M. Jul 2019
Nice, clean condo, with good location.
Marc M. Jun 2019
We stayed at Taylor house when our daughter graduated from SCAD. Safe neighborhood. Easy walk to many shops and restaurants.
Nice to have a driveway to leave our car at. Clean and comfortable beds.
Ryan A. May 2019
Stayed her for a weekend in May with my family and a friend. Everything was as described. Good location in the heart of Savannah. Easy check in/check out. Comfortable beds and chairs. The upstairs area gets a little hot, but nothing crazy and there are fans.
Kevin L. Apr 2019
This place was cozy and convenient. It’s not as walkable as we had hoped but mostly because we had older folks with us. Clean, quiet and comfy is how I would describe it. The only drawback was we could only get one channel on the tv, not a huge deal but for those down times in between activities or would have been nice. The smart tv connected to the internet but it was spotty. Took 2 hours to watch an hour and a half movie because it kept “thinking”. Did not effect how I felt about my stay though. Just some fyi for future visitors
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us, Kevin! We are so delighted you enjoyed the cottage. While all of downtown is walkable within 30 minutes or less, we understand Savannah's huge downtown district can be a bit challenging as it measures one mile by one mile in size. We suggest Savannah's pedicabs as a fun alternative to walking or driving. The owner has installed a WiFi extender to address the WiFi issues so the connectivity and streaming of the TV is now great quality. We do hope to have another opportunity to host you in the future. Thanks again!
Charlotte D. Apr 2019
Loved the home and location. Everything seemed clean when we arrived other than the floors. Had a real hard time with the Internet T.V. but other than that, everything was lovely.
Manager response:
We are delighted to see you enjoyed your stay! We are pleased to say the owner has installed a WiFi extender to rectify any internet issues you were experiencing while staying in her home. We hope to see you again!
Olivia G. Apr 2019
