Well the upstairs bathroom is super pretty with is high quality features but I filled the advertised jacuzzi tud 4 times over the weekend and the water was always brown. And it’s not a jacuzzi tub, just looks like one. The down stairs was nicely remodeled as well but it’s not fully complete so it was like having my guest sleep in a construction zone. The spiral stair case is a whimsical feature but is currently taped together making u question it’s integrity. The dryer wasn’t working when we got there but luckily one of my guests had the same problem with there dryer, the exact one on the property, so he fixed it. Your welcome. Other then that we loved our stay and look forward to our next adventure with vacasa.
Hi, Sarah! We're delighted to read you chose to stay with us and appreciate your feedback. The water was inspected after receiving your review, and it did not come out brown. This is a very rural location, and tanins are often in the water. It is harmless, and the water is filtered. Still, a plumber has been scheduled as a precaution. The downstairs has been under renovation with the carpet removed and new flooring installed. The contractor is nearly finished. We hope you'll come back to see the improvements. thank you!

great little home with everything you need. have not stayed in crescent city before but do plan to get up there again to stay at this place. i'm sure the fishing is great and the house with all that it has to offer, looks like it'd be even more fun in the summer.

This comfortable home is perfectly located on the south bank of the Smith River a few miles north of Crescent City. My wife and I enjoyed reading outside in the sun on the deck with a beautiful view of the river, and she went swimming a couple of times. The home is within a few miles of Jedediah Smith State Park, which has several miles of trails through the redwoods to enjoy.

Beautiful well cared for home on the River with redwoods close by.

We would stay here again, without hesitation!
This house had everything we needed, with lots of room to spread out and relax. The deck is large and private, it overlooks the Smith River with beautiful views. Even though there are houses around, when you’re on the deck it feels like you have the world to yourself. There were thoughtful shampoos and soap in the bathrooms. The bathrooms have been updated and nicely appointed. There were clear instructions on how to use the TV.
The home is a perfect jumping off point for wandering the Redwoods! Do yourself a favor and stop at the Welcome Center near Crescent, the rangers are extremely helpful with lots of suggestions for short or long hikes and points of interest to see. There is a kayak and water toys in the garage, but we didn’t use them. We spent our time in the Redwoods
Honestly as we were driving to the location, we got a bit nervous. Unfortunately, this home has some very untidy, rundown neighbors down the road. Once we got to the property, we were relieved it’s a nice home. We used the first aid kit from the master bathroom after my husband wandered down to the river to take photos. He didn’t look where he stepped, lost his footing on some slippery rocks, and skinned his arm. Be careful when you walk down to the water.
Note: if you have problem walking up steps, this house may be an issue. There are steps to go into the front door and a spiral staircase to get from the basement to the upstairs. You can walk straight into the lower-level bedroom/bathroom from the parking.

Ants were mentioned in several reviews but we did not experience any problems. The owners had it under control and asked that we help keep it that way, which was reasonable. We loved the access to the river and appreciated the toys we could borrow! Without hesitation, we would stay here again.

This place was absolutely perfect for our get away. I wish we could have stayed longer.
It was my girlfriend and I with our 9 year old son and small dog and we loved it.
It is set up as two suites upstairs and downstairs connected with a tight spiral staircase or up the exterior steps. This could make it perfect for two families as there is a huge deck overlooking the river and you could even set the kids up in a tent on it.
The downstairs is a little dated and could use a refresh but our son fell asleep on the couch every night playing the Wii so we didn’t even use it.
The upstairs is beautiful with a recent bathroom remodel that looks like a luxury spa and a very nice lay out that connects the kitchen, dinning room (although we ate on the deck) and living room into one big room that you can see the river from anywhere in. It also has a nice fireplace and bay window seat in the dining room from where our terrier spent most of his time as it gave him a commanding view of the entire property from which to keep watch from, although he serpent most of his time watching the backs of his eye lids with his paws in the air.
Everyone found their place to be comfortable here and the large kitchen with the bbq on the deck made it a great place to stay.
As nice as the house is, the location is even better. Directly on the river with easy access down a staircase to the water makes it easy to swim or borrow the kayak from the garage and explore what is the most beautiful, cleanest, most clear river I have ever been on. The Smith itself is something to behold. It is so clear you can see the rocks (and I mean ALL the rocks) under 10-12 feet of water from up on the deck. There is a peaceful riffle just down stream you can hear all the time but the water in front of the house is dead calm and perfect.
It is close enough to Brookings or Crescent City (which are both worth a look) that you can run there for anything you need but I would grab it on the way in because you won’t want to leave once you get there. Just stay and relax by the river

We really enjoyed our stay, the views are amazing and the setting is so peaceful. We easily made our way to the center and northern Redwood parks from here, drive time to and from was ideal.

We had a wonderful time relaxing on the deck and enjoying the beauty of the river and the wildlife. Many varieties of ducks and water birds, saw another a few times. The house was lovely and very comfortable. The ants were a bit annoying but not bad enough to detract from our enjoyment. Would love to visit again.

Having the river so close as well as the redwoods

Great home right on the Smith River. Saw herd of Elk across the way. Kayaked and floated on the river with the stair access from the house below the deck. Very peaceful and screen.
The only negative is the downstairs bedroom area. It smelled very moldy and mildewed. Luckily, for us, there was only 2 of us and stayed upstairs the entire time.

The house is spacious, well equipped and we found it sparkling clean when we arrived. The location is unbeatable, stairs lead from the property down to the river bank. The Smith River is refreshing, but warm enough to swim. We even saw 3 river otters from the deck. There is a 1-person kayak in the Garage to explore the water, for some reason we could not get the seat properly attached. Many parks, trails and beaches in the vicinity, we’d definitely love to back here again to this beautiful part of CA.

The deck was amazing. All else was just as advertised.

So enjoyed our stay. A quiet oasis just outside of Crescent City and great place to stay if visiting The Redwoods.
Ivgen N.Aug 2019
We stayed 3 days at the beautiful located house and we enjoyed it a lot. The house has two floors and one bedroom is at the upstairs which is very comfortable on the other hand ground floor room is not. The main issue is there was a smell either due to humidity or stayed long time closed. We were planning to use this room for the kids but the smell disturbed them a lot. We tried to open all the windows and have fresh air as much as possible but nothing changed. Other than that issue we enjoyed everything at the house. The kitchen utilities were quite enough and everything was working perfectly. Try to run the water before using since the house might not be used very long time you might have dirty water will come for a while. We weren’t sure if the tab water was drinkable so we did not drink. The main bathroom was so nice and comfortable, the terrace was breathtaking. We enjoyed a lot eating at the terrace. There is a kayak at the garage we did not use but it would be so nice to use it. We also had the chance to meet Vacasa house manager and she was very helpful to us. We highly recommend this house but they should find a sollution for having better air quality for the basement room.
