We really loved this vaycay rental. It was exactly as shown, and the beds were comfy. The place was clean and everything worked. We stayed while visiting HSU with our daughter, it was really nice to be so close to campus. We loved the garden and the views out all of the windows. One person in our group is in a wheelchair, so the master bedroom worked well for accessibility, and the bathroom had plenty of space for disabled use as well. It was great to have so many towels available, though we used only a few, the place felt very luxurious and my family liked the complimentary goodies provided in the kitchen. I am sure we will stay here again while our daughter is in university.
we had a relaxing stay at the magic garden. the house is spotless and beautifully decorated. the garden and backyard area provide a nice place to sit and have a meal, enjoy a hot tub and look at the blooming plants and trees.
extremely private location, very appropriate name ; clean and very comfortable one BUT: directions were incomplete , from 101 NORTH they did not provide the indicated exit, we than used GPS and got lost
This place is absolutely beautiful! Very clean, well taken care of, the patio and garden is awesome. Very quiet location a short distance from the downtown area. I would definitely stay here again.
This was a wonderful vacation rental. It worked perfect for five of us for the weekend.
Our family of four stayed here for a wedding. We walked to a Crabs game, the farmers market, dinner and to the city redwood park. The space was clean, bright and we loved the feel of the outdoors all around us. I would definitely come back!
Beautiful place! We would love to come back!
Skip the soaking tub, the water looks like it could use a change. Other than that awesome place to stay!
We had an amazing experience renting Magic Gardens through Redwood Coast Vacation Rentals! Everything went smoothly, the driving instructions were easy to follow, the house was clean and stocked with everything with needed for our stay. The property itself was gorgeous, and we definitely want to stay again. Thanks guys for a great stay-cation !
We had a lovely time in this Arcata bungalow. We were there to have Thanksgiving with our daughter and son-in-law who live in Eureka and it was a perfect place to make and share a family meal. The garden was beautiful and quiet. I would have appreciated curtains in the master bedroom - not for privacy because I don't think we were overlooked at all - but to keep the light out the morning. Also I did not realize until we arrived that the master bedroom does not have a door that separates it from the living room area. THe oven did smoke on two occasions and the smoke alarm went off. It was so high up on the ceiling that it was impossible to reach it but we opened the windows and door and eventually it stopped. THe location, next to the community forest was perfect for an afternoon walk through the redwoods - that was magical.
I am almost reluctant to share how special this rental is, because I want to make sure I can stay here again! We have been renting vacation rentals for over 25 years, and I can't think of a more beautifully appointed home that we have ever stayed in. Every detail is thoughtful and taken care of- extra blankets and towels, spotless and organized, information about the area, excellent communication throughout the process, paper products and cooking equipment- it's all there. We stayed while visiting our niece who is a freshman at HSU and hope to make the Magic Garden cottage our go to place to stay for the next four years. We loved Arcata and the surrounding areas and can't wait to come back. We had excellent meals downtown and in Eureka, and especially loved just chilling and relaxing in the cottage. Blown away by the tranquil beauty of this home, thank you for everything!
from the moment we stepped into the Magic Garden we knew we would have a good time. Peaceful digs with a wonderful vibe...everything was well thought out and put together. Loved the place!
Northern California has its charm for sure but I never expected to find a gem like this outside the redwood forests. The “Magic Garden” is a part of a collection of small homes. Each one appeared to have its own private entrance and the fences and foliage provide a unique privacy given the shared lot. We never saw our neighbors though we knew we had them. The master bedroom offers an amazing open view to the back gardens. There are no blinds so the sun is your indirect alarm clock if you wish. 2 Chinese blinds are provided to give an added sense of privacy or shade depending your comfort level. We didn’t use them as again, you are tucked away nicely. The closet is huge so you can hide your luggage away and feel moved in vs. tripping over it. The kitchen and living room is shared but spacious and useful. Meals of any kind can be prepared and served in the dining area without feeling cramped. The TV was a puzzle, but luckily a little digging for the manual and trial and error with the oversimplified remote allowed our boys some unwinding from long hikes in the forest. The second bedroom was comfy and had a nice closet. The one bathroom was well stocked with towels and spacious enough for two people to get ready at the same time. The Asian decorative accents really set this unique architecture apart from other properties we have stayed at. The actual front door is 100 years old from East Timor. I treated like a piece of art it is. I enjoyed looking at it, but didn’t dare touch it. The contemporary entrance is through the master bedroom. Statues and old Asian pillars adorn the space and added a sense of calm I needed this getaway. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the patio and our evenings in the Japanese soaking tub. The Magic Garden photos tell the story but they don’t capture the heart. I would definitely recommend this for couples, honeymooners, and spiritual beings who come for the redwoods but want something more. Sp
We loved the location and all of the amenities of this home. It was cozy, beautifully decorated, and very well-appointed. We had a marvelous time exploring the beautiful area and then coming back to relax and unwind in this beautiful space. We will most definitely look into staying here again, the next time we make a visit to the north coast.
This is our 2nd stay at "Magic Garden". Super nice property and very clean. The garden is absolutely beautiful this time of year! Easy walk into town was key for us. Don't miss the fresh oysters this time of year (June).
Great location and lovely property! Back yard stunning complete with cedar soaking tub! A little paradise tucked away in Arcata! Would highly recommend!
