This cottage was so well stocked with linens and kitchenware that it was like being at home. There was nothing we needed that we couldn't find. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location was wonderful - peaceful. Right on the beach where you can dig clams or fish for crab. Although it is not a swimming beach, it is great for walking the shore and shell collecting. I almost hate to give this review to avoid it being full next time I want to go!

While the house was nice and just as it looked in the pictures, the neighbors were not fun to deal with. Vacasa didn't mention until a few days before check in that the large grassy area shown in the photos in front and on the side of the house, were not private spaces but rather public access for the neighboring houses. Had there not been a burn ban on during our stay there, we would have had neighbors in front of the house each night at their fire pits which were very close to the house. The neighborhood watch was on top of us the minute we pulled onto the gravel road leading to the house - we hadn't even parked yet when he came out to instruct us where to go which was not where the book or vacasa instructed us to park. We were happy to park wherever he wanted us to and understand how hard it must be to live there full time and deal with short term renters coming and going. They also gave us a hard time about launching our small boat. When we booked the house it said there was a boat launch available as well as buoy to tie up to. Then when we read through the book at the house - that part was crossed out and a handwritten note said we shouldn't use the launch (which is literally right next to the house) but should instead find somewhere else to put in our boat. Seriously!!! Lets be honest upfront and not advertise something that isn't available. After giving us a hard time about the boat, one of the neighbors came back a short while later and offered to help us launch it which was very nice and much appreciated. So while we made the most of our time there, enjoyed the time with our family and watching the herons at low tide, crabbing and flying kites - you should be aware when booking this house that it's not private, parking is very limited, and unless you are there to stay inside, you will be watched by the neighbors the entire time. Some are very kind and helpful, some not so much!

We had the best time at this house. The location was perfect. The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. We were in touch with the manager and I felt like if anything had come up we would have been in good hands! It was a great stay!

We ate most our meals in, and appreciated the newer, and good quality, cookware and the kitchen that was well-stocked with cooking/eating utensils and linens. The home is older, but well maintained, sparkling clean and well lit with large windows. It has modern appliances, beautiful flooring and is furnished with a welcoming, colorful, “Beachy” vibe. My grown daughter and I were instantly charmed. The one criticism I’ll raise is, I wished the large window in the upstairs bedroom...which is perfect for viewing and taking pics...would have been as clean as those in the rest of the house. Otherwise, we were very comfortable and happy, and hope to return.

Our stay was comfortable and the views are breathtaking! We couldn’t have been happier!

We had the most enjoyable stay! The house was very clean and well stocked with kitchen items. We drove up to Larrabee State Park and stopped by Taylor shellfish on the drive back for some oysters. We saw countless eagles at the beach and driving on country roads. At Sunset we enjoyed a fire and roasting s’mores. Thank you for this much needed break full of family time and beautiful scenery!

This house is easy to find, so very clean, and pleasantly decorated. There are two bedrooms and two trundle beds for a total of 6 beds. The trundles are not in their own rooms, but there’s a door that separates the sleeping areas from the living room/kitchen, so we found it easy to keep it dark and quiet for those who were sleeping. My daughters loved the trundle beds.
We were glad to have brought a French press for coffee, but otherwise the kitchen is very well stocked. We brought food and cooked, bought some eggs from a neighbor down the road, and had a take out lunch in Edison, so we didn’t need a grocery store. There isn’t one too close, so I’d get some food on your way in.
The people on the island are quite friendly (compared to Seattle). The views are magnificent, even on a cloudy winter day.
We will definitely come back.

Spacious home right on the water! Fire pit is great right on the beach. Home has all the modern amenities you would need. Plenty of room for 8 people!

This amazing house with great view is amazing! Love bedroom with view , bedding is so fresh!

Comfortable little cottage right on the beach. Our young kiddos loved running out the front door to play in the tide flats (or, at higher tides, throw rocks in the water). If you're staying here when it stays light past 10pm and gets light early in the morning, consider bringing supplies for make-your-own black-out curtains (heavy duty black plastic bags and tape) since the current thin blinds and lace-y curtains inspired our kiddos to jump out of bed at 4am on morning #1. Ouch.

This is a nice home to stay in has everything you need to stay comfortable, nice fire pit, view. Only downside is the stairs I never planned on a two story and got transferred here after an issue at the original airBnb, regardless stairs are hazardous for children my 4 year old fell here and fractured his collarbone So not the best experience.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Ailie. We are sorry to hear this home was not as expected, and we hope your son has a speedy recovery. We would love to have another chance to impress you in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Erickson’s beach house from Dec. 28 – Jan.3rd. The cottage layout was perfect for our family of 5, incl a child, with the two bedroom and bathrooms on separate levels and the alcove with the day bed. One can tell that this house has celebrated many generations of family gatherings / traditions. We loved the décor, the kitchen set up and it was well appointed with everything one could think of. Fantastic location, sea – sky and mountain views and the neighbours were very friendly. The location allowed us the perfect mix of day trips to Whidbey, Seattle, Burlington, Bellingham / Chuckanut Drive with relaxing days, of reading, watching movies and going for a polar bear swim on New Years’ Day in the bay. (Canadian tradition). Brrr, but invigorating! Check out Edison and Samish Bay cheese shop. We love supporting local. The weather cooperated with sun and blue skies on a few days. We explored the local beaches and it is a bird watching mecca with eagles, herons etc in the area. On those blustery rainy days, the house was cozy and warm. We enjoyed wonderful sleeps with fantastic bedding and the extra touches that were provided. Easy and directions with the use of the appliances and amenities. We didn’t want to leave and go back to winter in BC. Thank you for opening your home to our stay. It was a great family experience.

Beautiful location and very cozy and quiet for my husband and I. We enjoyed looking at the ocean every day, viewing the birds and eagles and cooking up some fresh oysters from Blau’s Oyster Farm (just down the road). We would love to come back and stay in the summer.
Cathy B.Oct 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it had plenty of room for our crafting vacation. The view was outstanding, and it was fun exploring the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location with all the amenities. Gale warnings didn't bother our special visit. Thank you goes out to the Erickson's.
Mary Lou W.Sep 2019
This home was a lovely cottage style, clean and well stocked. Neighbors were super friendly, and local food establishments were very good! We did some hiking up to Oyster Dome in the Chuckanut Mountains and also took the ferry over to Orcas Island. Samish Island is a bit remote, but that is why it is so peaceful!
Sharon N.Sep 2019
This location worked great for two couples to hang for a few days. Nice access to the beach. TV for the all important UofW, Seahawks, and Sounder’s games. Located close to oyster shop where we picked up clams, oysters & crab to enjoy. Visiting Edison and partaking in local blueberry jam, farm fresh bread, and fresh cheese. Farm to table. Very nice location. If there had been a working fireplace, it would have been a perfect 10. Will be back.

I rented the Erickson house to be close to a job site.My wife stayed with me and enjoyed the house and the beautiful view of the bay. A few of our adult children visited over night bringing the grandkids. The grandkids enjoyed playing on the grass in the yard watching seals swim and using the supplied binoculars and telescope to check the sea going oil tankers. The old folks had a nice time walking the beach and sitting at the tables outside the house.

We enjoyed every day at the house. The sunrise and sunset were magnificent from inside the house and of course from sitting out side.We thank the owner for allowing us to share and enjoy his beautifull house. We will be back next year !!!
Patti M.Apr 2019
The sole purpose of our trip was to unplug and relax. This home did not disappoint. It's a charming beach home with everything we needed. We didn't eat out much but found Edison charming. Beach walks, looking for treasures along the beach and enjoying the beautiful sunsets were the order of the day. Randall was s pleasure to work with. Would definitely stay here again.

Best place ever. Could see Mt. Baker on clear day. Bay view breathtaking. So well stocked. Very clean. Quality appliances and finishes. Ample outdoor seating. Hats off to the owners. Thank you.
Phill M.Aug 2018
We loved it - most everything about this property is perfect. It is very well kept, clean (the cleaning fee is actually for cleaning - there's a first!) and very inviting. Nestled right on the Bay, stunning views, well appointed and very much great value! Our family of 5 fit perfectly! The only negative - SPRINKLERS!! We are morning people and the sprinklers soaked everything!! Boat dock access for mooring would also add significant value! We will be back - with friends! Word to the wise - definitely bring groceries!

The had a terrific time staying at the Erickson cottage on Samish Island. The house was perfect for us! The decorating was lovely and it was clean with all the amenities we needed. I felt like we were staying in a friends home. We will go back when we can.

Waking up in the morning to the beach and the view is amazing.

This is our second stay at the house while out visiting family that resides on the island. The owner is very pleasant and easy to deal with. Would stay again for sure. My only suggestion is that a keurig coffee machine would be a very appreciated upgrade, as would a kettle for tea. Other than that it's a great house!!
