Restored Adobe Home with Views from Three Porches - Near Hiking & Skiing

This restored 1925 villa features classic adobe design, genuine plaster walls and vigas ceilings, and three porches, all with spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. The interior is bright and happy, illuminated by lots of natural light flooding in through large windows with beautiful views of the natural New Mexican landscape that surrounds the home. You'll love watching your favorite movies and shows on the flatscreen TV while warming up by a fire in the fireplace on those frosty winter nights. And summer guests can enjoy al fresco meals outside on the patio table. Speaking of meals, the well-equipped, full kitchen is open and, well, gorgeous! Lovely cookware hangs from a pot and pan rack suspended over ample counter space, sure to inspire even the most demanding chefs. This home also features individual room heaters and plenty of sleeping accommodations for up to four guests, plus 1,360 square feet of living space, so everyone will have plenty of elbow room and privacy during their stay. Late afternoon winds from approaching summer storms blow at the home’s chimes creating soothing sounds and the temperature may drop making for a lovely, cool evening on one of the three porches. Not to mention, magpies, ravens, and hummingbirds abound in the area to accompany you during your stay.

This area still retains its past agricultural and more rural charm. Yet, it is only two miles from Taos Plaza and John Dunn Shops where you will find unique boutiques, creative art, restaurants for dining, and a Farmers Market on Saturdays in the summer for purchasing meat, fish, and veggies for grilling at The Birdhouse. Naturally, there are lots of outdoor activities to take advantage of right next door such as snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. Shoppers will love visiting Taos Plaza, just two miles north, to find unique boutiques, eateries, and works by local artisans to enjoy. Taos Ski Valley is 40-minutes northeast with amazing ski slopes to shred with friends. You'll also be just over 10 miles from Taos Regional Airport.

This was a very cute, clean home! It was close to everything we wanted..

The home had easy access and all of the amenities we need. Loved the artwork and whimsy birds.
Char R. Oct 2022
Large old home, well kept, full of charm. Close to town.

I really loved the location, the decor and the patio and courtyard. The location was easy to find and very spacious. Unfortunately we arrived in a rather wet and cool weather pattern and we were not as warm as we would have liked. Still a great place.

We had a wonderful time in Taos, and the Birdhouse was very nice. Aside from a few dirty dishes in the cabinets, the house appeared to be pretty clean when we arrived.
Manager response:
Hi, Joseph! We're glad you stayed with us and apologize if housekeeping missed any dirty dishes. They check between each reservation and will be reminded to do so.

We loved the architecture and character of this old 1920’s adobe. A perfect two mile walk into town.
Edith L. Jul 2022
We had higher than usual temperatures and the house was very hot. Brought our own fans. Found mice in small bedroom 3 times. No grill or outside umbrella for table. Bought our own umbrella. Silverware and dishes were not cleaned well. We enjoyed fishing and rafting despite the heat.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Edith. Sincere apologies for any cleaning missteps, as it is never our intention to disappoint. We appreciate you bringing the mouse sighting to our attention so that we can take appropriate measures to resolve any pest issue. Rest assured that we will follow up with our local team regarding your feedback. Please know that our Guest Services team is available 24 hours a day to assist should any questions or concerns arise prior to arrival or during your stay. Thanks for staying with us, we look forward to hosting you again!

Loved the bird theme super detailed. It has a rude neighbor…doors lock on their own so first night got locked out while off loading car the keys were inside it was blah.

We truly loved this little getaway! We traveled from OKC and was blown away by all the charm and beauty of this house! Heating was not an issue at all! In fact my kids said they were too warm at one point in time. This house was sooooo unique and amazing, my kids didn't want to leave! They were also very mindful of the space and helped keep it beautiful! Kiddos loved the outdoor space (including all the pinecones and the amazing Mountain Views!) Loved it and hope to come back in the near future!

Beautiful restoration of an 100yr old Casita. Perfect for 1 family. Modern appliances. Access to downtown and ski areas.
Loved it!

Great space and plenty of room. Everything was clean and put together. Had a couple issues with heating. The radiators all did not work, so they had a few space heaters. This caused the breaker to trip multiple times. Also had an issue where we did not have hot water for the first night. Apparently the pilot light had gone out on the water heater
Manager response:
Hi, Riley! We're so glad you stayed with us and apologize for the discomfort you experienced. The radiator in the master bedroom is not working, but a space heater has been provided. The breakers don't seem to trip if there is only one space heater per room. Thank you!

If you have never stayed in an adobe home, this is your chance. This home is spectacularly furnished and has all the amenities you could want in your home away from home. I loved staying here and want to come back soon!

The house was very neat and clean. It is very close to town but has a very tranquil feeling. We visited during a heat wave. Still, with open windows and turning on fans, the house was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and walking into town past all of the prairie dogs. It was a very pleasant place for a family of four on vacation.

Really enjoyed the proximity of the house to TAos Ski Valley! The house was a great get away! However, not having a lit pilot left boiling water to compensate for cold showers and the need to crank portable heaters. This added a rustic feel to the cabin retreat getaway. Overall really enjoyed the stay.

-The house has so much attention to detail, love and art within
-Bed is comfortable
-Kitchen has all the essentials for cooking
-Great views
-Backs up to huge field so great for dogs
-Close to town but still down a road to a very peaceful and quiet neighborhood

-I more or less did not sleep a single night because of the very loud bangs from the heaters. So my “relaxing” solo trip took a bit of a turn at night.
-The living room heater doesn’t work so you have to use the portable heaters. And even then it’s still a little cold. Thankfully cold doesn’t bother me and I just bundled up. But I can see it being a con to most.

I would recommend turning off the master bedroom heater and use the portable heater.

Thanks for the stay I plan to come back with friends!
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your experience, Jay. We are glad you enjoyed the time and effort put into this home's decor and its convenient location. This home has a gas fireplace in the living room that is not functioning and we are in the process of getting the whole fireplace insert replaced. In the meantime, there are gas heaters in both bedrooms and a large heater in the kitchen, plus a portable heater. We have scheduled a visit to the home to make sure the water heater is in working order. We look forward to hosting you again!
