The Lazy K on Peaceful Bay is the spot for an idyllic Montana family reunion on the shores of Flathead Lake. The property is owned by a local Flathead Valley family who loves big family get-togethers accompanied by large meals and friendly, family competition. The location sums up the family’s favorite outdoor activities—easy access to the water, hiking and walks on local trails, and snow sports. The property has two houses: The Lake House and The Ranch House, which can be rented together if you need the bunk space, or separately. There is a dock for mooring your own watercraft, as well as a couple of kayaks, a paddleboat, and a paddleboard - you can swim off the dock area or wade in via a small beach. The house also has an eight-person hot tub to warm you up after a day on the lake or the ski hill.
While the grownups barbeque and relax on the expansive deck, the youngsters can play corn hole or start a pick-up wiffleball game on the large, grassy lawn leading to the lake. When it’s time to eat, there is an outdoor kitchen with a gas BBQ, griddle, and burners (no water) and seating for everyone under a covered deck just off the kitchen, as well as additional inside seating around the dining room table and bar. The property also has a firepit with lounge chairs for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, telling ghost stories, or singing campfire songs (guitar not included).
The house’s cool, quiet, daylight basement is perfect for an afternoon nap, cards, puzzles, and board games around another dining table. You will also find a massage chair and a 50-inch TV with Roku and an Xbox console. Upstairs, you will find a Ping-Pong room off the kitchen for some friendly competition while the next meal or drinks are being prepared. The kitchen has all the expected amenities and appliances, and some extras to ensure you keep your crew fed. Two on-deck drink coolers will keep everyone hydrated. The open plan design, with ample storage space for your Costco run, ensures everyone stays in the mix—even when a few people are lounging on the seven-person reclining couch in the adjacent living room. The living area is the perfect spot to spread out comfortably and stream fun shows or movies on the 42-inch TV with Roku.
You are just a short driving distance from Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Glacier International Airport, Bigfork, and Missoula. For our winter visitors, The Lazy K is 15 miles from Blacktail Ski Area, where one-free day pass, per day is available for guest use.
Blacktail also has the free North Shore Nordic Ski Trails area, with over 15 miles of varied terrain that is groomed every day from December through March. Both boast great views of Flathead Lake from above 5,000 feet. You can also snowshoe on the trails or various un-groomed trails around the area. With Whitefish Mountain an easy 40-mile drive away, you have an additional option for skiing depending on which hill is getting the most fresh stuff.
