The company was very responsive in resolving a small hiccup with the home’s HVAC. Great home in a good location with ideal lake access. Would love to stay at again if visiting the area

We had an incredible vacation! This house has some amazing features, and it`s the best yard we`ve found on SML yet! I`m reviewing as good because there are critical things that need improvement, but the communication of the management team and the graciousness of the owners when we had issues were excellent, so I think they deserve a good review, assuming they address all the outstanding concerns. Read on for more details... The house is super charming, well decorated, and has some lovely renovations, including the kitchen. The location is incredible, really close to several local spots. The dock is in a cove near one of the marinas, and we could see some really cool boat traffic almost as if this was the `city` vibe of SML. Several surrounding properties are also rentals, and it looked like those families had great success with boat rentals. The dock was awesome, lots of balance of shade & sunshine, and well maintained with a good selection of furniture for relaxing. We were SO grateful for the sand beach; it`s one of the best we`ve ever seen at SML and was perfect for our toddler & dog. It was really well graded, had some gentle waves from the boat traffic nearby (which we love!), and was rich with sand (instead of rocks, which you see on some other sand beach properties here). The yard was huge, lots of grass and room to play. There`s an old tennis court on site that would have been fun for sidewalk chalk and foursquare, if we ever got out of the water. The outside features of this property were fantastic!! We also LOVED the screened porch and spent a ton of time out there. It was nice to be able to lock the screen doors and confine our dog & toddler to the porch. We found the kitchen to be very useful, and loved how close the propane grill was to it. The gas stove is a real treat! Those are hard to find on the lake. The kitchen is super well stocked, so many of everything you need (glasses, mugs, plates, etc.) and they had kid`s plates & utensils, as well, which was great. Now the cons...The yardwork was not done prior to our Friday check in; the lawn team came on Saturday morning and spent about 45 minutes on the yard. Since they were so fast, I was really surprised this work was not done prior to our 4 pm check in on Friday--6 hours between renters is enough time for this kind of yard work. The noise was disruptive to our morning, but we made the best of it. The plumbing in this house is not rental ready, and I would expect all of the plumbing issues to be resolved before renting this house again. The washer machine had a water pressure error code we were unable to resolve, so we went home with way more dirty laundry than usual and had to re-use our dirty lake towels, since I`d planned on having access to a washer, as advertised. The primary bathroom shower stayed hot for about 6 minutes, and we were unable to get hot water to that bathroom`s sink or more than a medium trickle of pressure. We found this super odd (and contacted mgmt) since this bathroom is really close to (what appears to be) a new tankless water heater. The secondary shower would stay hot most of the time, but occasionally lose all water pressure, have to be turned off for it to re-build, and then would come back for a period of time. In its current state, the plumbing does not meet the basic foundation of a rental property. However, the owners planned to have a plumber check things out after we checked out, so assuming that happened and things are fixed, I would consider renting this house again and don`t want to mess up their review history, since they were so responsive and graciously handled our feedback. My other con is that this house is not well stocked on water toys. They had a croquet set, two kayaks (but no life jackets), and corn hole. We bought noodles at a nearby Dollar General, and left them there for the next folks. Most of the houses we rent on the lake have more toys than this, including floats and noodles for the dock or beach. We had brought our own balls and sand toys, so just make sure you bring what you want to play with. We rented a paddle board from SUP2Go (Smith Mountain Paddle Company) and that was an awesome addition to our weekend. They delivered the paddle board by boat and picked it up from the dock when our rental was over. Overall, we had an amazing vacation and I really hope the foundational issues with this house`s plumbing can be resolved for many more families to enjoy it!! This was a lovely cottage stay, and one of the better equipped kitchens I`ve encountered in a while. What a great view! This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

This was the perfect place for our girls’ weekend! The house was great, loved the porch and deck, and the dock is awesome-perfect for the elderly member of our party to be right there with us while we were swimming. All doorways were wide enough for her wheelchair and the dock is also wheelchair friendly with a nice concrete path from the house down to the dock. The view is spectacular! Overall the perfect place for us. We had a great time! This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Evergreen. It isn`t luxury, but it is comfortable cabin on the lake with an amazing screened-in porch, a really awesome beach, and a very nice dock with a swimming platform. The kitchen was well-stocked for `lake cooking` (i.e. don`t plan to cook a fancy 6 course gourmet dinner, but there`s plenty of cookware and dishes for regular family dinners) and included a coffee pot AND a Keurig. The swimming platform is on water that is pretty deep, but the beach (with sand!) allows you to walk in and sit in shallow water - perfect for toddlers and young kids. The beds were nice enough. I didn`t bring a measuring tape, but I think the bunk bed is the queen + a twin and the single bed in the front room is a full. The master bedroom has a queen, but it also has an `eyebrow` window without a shade - so if you like to sleep in, bring an eye mask. I would have given the place an `Excellent` instead of a `Great` except that the water pressure was a bit iffy - you could take a shower or flush the toilet, but not both. I think this is an easily fixable issue that I`ve mailed the property company about. I recommend a vacation here. I would definitely book it again. Beautiful views! Comfortable home.We had a great vacation at Evergreen. Rented a Pontoon. Dock was great. Lot was flat compared to most. Saw a deer in the yard, ducks and geese on the beach. Very enjoyable! Thanks for the place to stay. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

Accommodations are fine. Company was great, was quick to help us and do what it took .. The home has mold on it however, outside , the rental company said we just missed the window cleaning and gutter and even a house washing if needed., it is scheduled after we depart.. It was green with mold , so hope that does gets resolved. There seems to be some sort of wasp nest somewhere potentially in a vent? They’re getting into the house. Also, ants in the kitchen. However we will rent with the company next year, this home as alot to offer, just needs a great power wash and pest service . Evergreen was probably as nice a lake house as we have ever rented, except for some of the really big houses we have been in down in Corolla. Only concerns were that there were no life preservers for the kayaks, luckily it was quite chilly, and you advertised complimentary laundry soap, necessitating an unplanned trip to find a store. But, except for that, the house was great and we had a great get away. The State Park is really close and really nice as well.
