Charming Bayfront Cottage with Gorgeous Views - Ideal for Quick Romantic Getaway

Wanting to just get away from it all with the most important person in your life? Look no further than this charming studio cottage tucked away on the Northern California Coast! Stunning views, a charming small town to explore, and the company of your special someone - what could be better?

The 50-stair descent to the entrance is well worth the effort. Located right on Bodega Bay, this cozy home for two offers an unparalleled view of rich blue-green waters - and the opposing shores of the Bodega Dunes - right from the private deck. Breathe in the fresh ocean air whenever you like, or head out front to stretch your legs. The town of Bodega Bay offers all the essentials just a few blocks north down the central highway!

Inside, this home consists of two main areas - a living and sleeping area, and a small kitchenette. The kitchenette lacks a stovetop, but the microwave and coffeemaker let you prepare simple meals and reheat delicious leftovers from the nearby restaurants.

After savoring some food at the table for two, you can admire the sun dipping below the horizon on the deck, before closing the blinds and relaxing on the nearby leather sofa.

Take advantage of the internet and flatscreen cable TV to stay entertained, and when you're ready to turn in, wash up in the bathroom, featuring mosaic tile in the shower and gilded trappings, before drifting off to sleep on the luxurious four-poster queen-size bed for two.

After a hot cup of coffee in the morning, get ready for a rich day of exploring the area. Maybe you'll take in the bay's natural beauty? You can grab a table at an oceanfront restaurant like The Tides Wharf and watch the fishing boats bob in the water as you enjoy your meal, or you can experience the ocean up close at the sandy shores of Doran Regional Park.

If you don't mind hopping in the car, you can expand your possibilities even further. Go whale-watching at the stunningly beautiful Bodega Head across the bay, or head east for a little culture. From golfing at The Links at Bodega Harbor to the wares of the Artisan's Co-op in inland Bodega itself, there's no shortage of places to visit when you want a break from the waves.

Don't deny yourself this vacation for even a moment longer. Place your reservation today!

The place is on the small side, just one room and bathroom basically, but was perfect for us. Right on the water, which was great for relaxing and watching wildlife and sunsets over the bay.
David S. Nov 2022
The waterfront is very nice. The unit is very comfortable. It made for a great getaway.
Peter F. Nov 2022
Perfect location, had everything we needed.
Annie C. Nov 2022
Lovely location but you do not get your bang for your buck here.
Jerry M. Oct 2022
Love the location! Watching the birds, seals and fishing boats right in front of us.
Sven O. Sep 2022
We were delighted that the reported 50 stairs down (and up) were staggered and not continuous. On arrival the cottage more than fulfilled our expectations.
Jim S. Sep 2022
Located right on the water. Compact, cozy and got the true experience of Bodega Bay. Private & Quiet! Everything we needed & more!!! Thanks 😉
Margaret v. Jul 2022
Nice little place. They had all the necessities in a clean studio-like room. We loved the fireplace and sounds of the bay. Would stay here again.
Beatrice M. Jun 2022
We loved being right on the water which was very nice but the cottage was hard to access due to the 50+ narrow stairs. It was very clean and the bed was super comfy but there was no privacy cover on the back glass door.
Karen B. Jan 2022
It was the second time staying there. We just loved being so close to the water and watching the sunset
Michael B. Jan 2022
Very clean upon arrival. As described, directly on the water. Beautiful location peaceful and quiet. Could be improved with minimal effort. Dining table needs repair and kitchen needs additional supplies ( right in wine country but no wine glasses),
Manager response:
We appreciate you choosing to stay with us, Michael. Wine glasses for guest use have been suggested to the homeowner. Thank you!
Marie D. Jan 2022
This small cottage feels surprisingly spacious; wonderful big windows onto the bay, great for birdwatching. The fog horn is noticeable at first but after a few days I stopped hearing it. Lovely narrow deck wraps all the way around the house. Very refreshing and rejuvenating space.
Jeff N. Nov 2021
Great view of Bodega Bay Harbor with a terrific view of wildlife. Very nice big windows. Gas fireplace a big plus. Bathroom door needed to be fixed. Nice coffee maker and filters but no coffee provided. Doors are hard to lock, but doable. Overall a very relaxing place.
Mark W. Oct 2021
If you're looking for nightlife this is not your spot. The wifi is a gamble..we had zero connectivity (a huge plus for us!). VERY quiet and the fog horn is charming (but if you're a light sleeper it sounds every 10 seconds...24/7. Ear buds or a sound machine will be in order) A great spot for exploring the beautiful coast,
Bas S. Aug 2021
Beautiful bay side cottage with a fantastic view of Bodega Bay. Eateries was somewhat limited but we loved what was availabe.
Manager response:
Hi! Bas, We are pleased your stay with us was pleasant. We thank you for the feedback, to better improve our services. We hope to host your next vacation!
Alan L. Aug 2021
This is a good size one-room house built on pilings. Water is under the house at high tide only. I loved watching the birds at low tide in the morning as they dove for fish outside our windows/deck. The gas fireplace/heater kept us warm and cosy from the cold that is common in this part of the coast. Note that the wifi instructions given to us did not work, but we were able to connect easily using the network name and password on the router label.

Really spectacular stay. Comfy bed, ridiculous view, and the place comes with its own seagull! He was very nice.
Ken W. Feb 2021
We were surprised to find this little studio cottage. All the photos do it justice. Right on the water. We watched the fishing boats go back and forth right off our front deck to the Tides and Lucas to offload their catch. Middle of the week and off season made the uncrowded trip restful. We would definitely return.

We had the best getaway weekend ever! Totally enjoyed our stay... This place is perfect for the two of us. Sunny, comfortable, and very peaceful. Loved getting up early in the a.m. while it’s still dark to look up at the sky and gaze at the stars, the boats passing by quietly making the waves hit the shore a little harder - love all the sound effects here that are so soothing and entertaining. I also love the low tides in the late afternoon where you see clams spitting up water all over like sprinklers gone awry! Also, one of our best highlights is seeing Charlie, the popular Seagull in Bodega Bay, all over again after 5 years with his mate this time. Seagulls live a long time, and we know it’s him because I called out his name and he came right over... plus, his mannerism is like no other. Charlie’s well-mannered raised by an older lady who lived next door—she’s no longer there, but he seems to still want to hang out there on her porch. We like everything about this place and we will definitely be back again - sooner rather than later! 💙 🌊

The place was adorable, clean, and comfortable. The kitchenette was well stocked and had everything your need to make quick meals using the BBQ or hot plate. The views were amazing and the overall atmosphere was extremely relaxing. Grab yourself some local oysters, cheese, and a bottle of wine to enjoy on the deck as you admire the wildlife right outside your doors! My only suggestions: extra pillows for the bed and some bottled water (the tap water left little to be desired).
Justin H. Oct 2020
Very clean and comfortable. Dawn to dusk and even at night you will have captivating views of the Bay and its wildlife.
Rebecca P. Mar 2020
This studio cottage is perched like a nest over the water. Absolutely stunning location.

Loved the stay. The view was fantastic and being able to open the windows and hear the seagulls and sea lions was amazing!!!
Jill K. Aug 2019
This was the perfect cottage for our anniversary getaway! Very peaceful and quiet. Amazing place for a couple!
James T. May 2019
Loved this place! Right on the water and can only hear the harbor seals. Perfect for two!

Lovely spot. comfortable.

My adult daughter and I had a wonderful relaxing couple days here. Very peaceful and beautiful!
Valued Guest . Feb 2019
Our stay was AMAZING. The place is AMAZING. The view was AMAZING. It was peaceful and quiet. Clean. Comfy and cozy. Sits right on the water….what else could you want?? Other reviewers who talk about ants…Ridiculous!! Yeah, we saw a few….obviously a problem “in the area in general.” So yeah, if little ants scare you, don’t stay! And yeah, there are some steps down to get to the place….if stairs aren’t your thing then don’t book this place. For me and my wife, the stairs down to be in a place sitting ON THE WATER, well worth it!! Beautiful! My wife and I have rented places in Bodega Bay several times and this is EXACTLY what I expected! Ahhh….a much needed 2 day getaway! As for other reviewers, about not enough hot water? I don’t know…I had plenty! I don’t take one hour showers! I guess the point of my review is that this place is AMAZING! But I guess if you are a complainer, you will complain about anything. GREAT PLACE. 5 STARS!!! And, by the way, there is now a pretty nice gas BBQ on the front deck (which we used) and actually saved us a lot of money! Let’s see….we bbq’d NY steak and local oysters on the first night! Again, 5 STARS…..

This is a unique cottage and we loved every minute. We appreciated the details that made our stay so comfortable and enjoyed the experience. The only thing that we felt could be improved was the hot water not lasting in the shower.
marilena s. Dec 2018
Enjoyed my week vacation! I am a writer and that is the perfect spot to get inspired and writing quietly. Only negative side was to manage a healthy cooking with only microwave. Maybe a little barbeque at the door entrance would allow to cook some grilled fish, a steak and grilled veggis? Just a suggestion! But definitely I would book it again. Great location, again tranquillity 100%, strong internet service, peace 1000%, great view. Take your showers fast and enjoy it!
Diana Z. Nov 2018
I know there are a lot of complaints about the 50 steps down to the cottage, it was not a problem at all. We enjoyed our stay, it was quiet, scenic, and the place was very clean, the fire place was beautiful. It was a perfect get away. I would stay here again.
ALFRED S. Nov 2018
Great get away that was fun to stay in and was relaxing.
David M. Sep 2018
Location is everything and this place has it. Parking (parallel to a busy road) is super easy and even though on the weekend, Hwy 1 stays constantly busy, in the house you never hear a peep. The seals barking and the birds chirping, the privacy and the huge windows... just wonderful! And, I think more should be said of that dual-head shower! What a marvel... it's a dream shower! I hate to say too many glowing things because I want this place available next time we get away to Bodega Bay!
Lee B. Sep 2018
Alan N. Jul 2018
Room was comfortable and clean, with great view of harbor, birds and sea lions
Linda G. Jul 2018
Great location— great house—- great views all day and night!!
Daniel S. Jun 2018
The cottage feels like you are on a house boat! Overlooking the bay the views are great. Bed is very comfortable & the bedding nice.
Randy P. Jun 2018
Loved the privacy, quiet and the beauty of the bay all around us. Birds and seals frolicking around as you watch out of the 7 large windows or stand out on the deck to watch.
Paula S. May 2018
This roomy studio cottage sits right on the bay. The house is on stilts so when the tide comes in the water flows under the house. Small outside deck to sit and watch marine birds and sea lions.
Gorgeous beaches everywhere! At Goat Rock we visited the seal colony and saw lots of seal pups!
Bodega Bay is perfect location to visit redwood forests, San Francisco, Sonoma and Marin Counties.
We were very happy to see that Bodega Bay has NOT become
commercialized. That does create a problem with finding food! Two really nice restaurants, but pricey. Small market makes sandwiches and tómales. There is no stove, but bring food to microwave and toast. Small fridge in room. Place was very clean, tidy, lots of windows for viewing.
We LOVED it!
Kathy J. May 2018
Area, pacific coast, eateries. The bayside cottage was everything we wanted well decorated and quite charming but except for the ants. Yes, there are ants but at least no uncles. :)They seemed to come from the cracks in the crevices of the walls, bathroom and kitchen areas. We were only there for two nights so nothing we couldn't handle but I can see it being a problem if there for a week. I know they had ant traps and spray but really needs a professional exterminator. Otherwise, all great even had Mr and Mrs Gully fly over and sit on the railing which we found quite thrilling. Do not feed them.
Some reviews stated you can walk to restaurants and yes you can but not advised. Very dangerous walking, no sidewalks and maybe only a foot path along roadway with way to many turns and blind spots for drivers. Beware and take your car and drive across bay to all the seafood spots and walk there or walk at the many paths up along the coastline. If your compelled to go to the Tides restaurant do not eat there just walk around and browse through the "Birds" gimics. Food is terrible. Its owned by a big corporate co that obviously is out for the tourists and not for repeat customers.
Breathe deep, enjoy the piece and tranquility of a very old, beautiful and working fishing village. We will be back.
William L. Apr 2018
Fabulous location right on the bay. Very romantic, especially at night with the harbor lights. A minute walk into town and restaurants. Quiet and peaceful.
Big problem with VERY high cleaning fee added on to the charge. Ironically, the room was not cleaned and the sheets had unfortunate remains of the previous occupants. DISGUSTING!!!!
To be fair, management came over the next day and cleaned up. My wife said she will not go back.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see this guest felt the home was unclean as we did have housekeeping in there prior to their stay. We were notified of stains the day after this guest checked in and discovered the stains were fresh. Regardless, we immediately re-cleaned the home.
Robert C. Mar 2018
Very nice venue: Directly on the water, as indicated, no beach or water access available from the cottage, if that matters. Spacious, very very clean, comfy furnishings, great linens, well furnished kitchen - microwave, toaster, coffee pot, fridge, just no stove or hot plate for cooking a complete meal. Seaside mornings can be chilly and the completion of the installation of the gas fireplace will be a welcome addition to the electric heater available. Great eclectic assortment of reading materials and local guides. The request to "start a load of laundry and load the dishwasher" is, to be facetious, a mute point. Neither is available. And yes, the fog horn is a constant reminder that this is a working port, it is continuous 24/7. I find it, and the barking sea lions, charming. Some say they are annoying. Just sayin'... All in all a terrific place to spend time. Very pleasant, very peaceful. Will return. Already booked.

We were in bodega bay for a 4 day weekend. This lovely cottage was a perfect get away place for us who needed some quiet time away from the city. Here are what we liked about our stay:
- management was very responsive. They answered our questions very quickly. They seemed to care about their renters.
- the cottage was very clean. Seemed to be fairly new.
- the cottage is close to restaurants and hikes.
- it has parking for one car
- it has stairs to go down from street level to lower part of the bank and it sits behind a large sized house, it made the cottage VERY quiet and private.
- it has a coffee maker (we didn't use) and a microwave which we used for making tea.
- it has a good sized TV and we brought our own Apple TV. we watched our favorite shows with very good WiFi connection.
- PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS ONE, THE BEST OF THIS LOVELY COTTAGE: it sits right above the water over looking at the bay. It has a narrow balcony where you could sit to watch sunset while drinking a glass of wine. If it's too cold out there, you could sit inside and watch boats sailing by or birds flying above the water. There are many large windows which also give you panoramic view of the bay if you are inside. This is how nice it was: one day we planned for a 10 mile hike but we ended up spending the entire day hanging out at the balcony or staying inside watching the water, birds and the clouds...

Overall, we LOVED our stay. If we come back to bodega bay, we would not look elsewhere! Thank you for all VACASA!

Barbara M. Mar 2018
To die for view, amazing sunrise/sunsets, even got a beautiful rainbow while there. So quiet, only sounds of birds, seals, fog horn & occasional boat going in and out. Would recommend for couples get-a-way. Be prepared to get your workout, 50 stairs up & down!
Sandra C. Feb 2018
Loved the view hated the stairs
Randy P. Jan 2018
Very nice get-away cottage with privacy, quietness, and a great view of the bay. Comfortable bed and overall clean and comfortable place to stay.
Very romantic place due to the comfort, the view, the privacy, and the 'getting away from it all'.
Kyle G. Dec 2017
Great view, right on the water, lots of windows. it looks just like the pictures online! Well kept property.
Scott J. Dec 2017
Beautiful views, right on the water.
Quiet and romantic.
Brenda L. Nov 2017
It was a great place to stay. I expected a little bit more in the kitchen place but overall it was a good place
Charles S. Oct 2017
Unlike the picture indicates there isn’t a Kuerig machine and I bought pods for our stay. The 50 steps down are tough. Parking and ingress/egress are terrible.

Carpets are grimy, floors sticky, ants around kitchen sink, door locks require pulling the knob up and instructions provided.

I received an email from Vacasa stating early check in was available. Planned day around this and the place had not been cleaned and was not ready. Called manager and she is gone for weekend. Called Vacasa and they are pretty clueless and I had to call back to get status update. Only compensation for my trouble was 15% off NEXT stay. A huge assumption that I would use their company again.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see this guest was not more satisfied with their stay. There is a coffeemaker provided at this home, but it is not currently the Keurig. We apologize for any confusion this has caused. The door knob works well if instructions are followed; we are sorry to see this was a nuisance for our guest. We want to sincerely apologize for the lack of communication regarding the early check-in. The house was cleaned by regular check-in time which addressed the floor, carpet, and ants. Thanks!
Lowell C. Sep 2017
This is a very beautiful location, peaceful and serene. We loved it even when we just lounged around at the cottage. It is a perfect getaway location from busy lives. Very self-contained but also very adequate. Beware the steps (over 50 of them!) If you have disabilities this is impossible. But "going down" to the cottage literally on the water (at high tide) is worth it.
Timothy W. Sep 2017
The unit matched the description on Vacasa. It was clean and tidy for our arrival. We did not find the steps to be an issue. The unit can get warm in late afternoon because sun shines directly into it. Just open the doors and windows and let the bay breezes cool it down.

There are plenty of things to do and see in the area. Ocean views, wine country, redwoods, seafood, and on and on.

We would stay at the guest house again.
Vincent L. Sep 2017
The house is literally on the Bay - you can underhand throw a rock into the water - which is awesome for sunsets and early morning fog. It's close to the general store which is convenient, and less than a 2 min drive to dining. You're looking at a 5 minute drive to the nearest beach, which is excellent. A great place to stay with a significant other when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Rebecca M. Aug 2017
The cottage is adorable and perfect for a little get away. Unfortunately the fireplace was not working however a space heater was provided which was more than warm enough. The shower was great, it's rare to find a shower that accommodates tall people. The parking was very tight, when it says room for 1 car that's what it means, a car, not a pickup truck. Overall this is a great place and a terrific value.
Darla K. Aug 2017
A charming vacation retreat!
Erin R. Aug 2017
Great spot for me to get away ALONE, chill, look at the water and relax. I wanted water and sun, and although the coast is cooler, I really found the weather perfect...the sun hit the place perfectly. Easy walk to the Tides and the local grocery store....It was a perfect size and if you planned to visit surrounding towns, the location was great. I may make this my yearly mom/wife getaway. The staff via phone was very professional and helpful!
Karen N. Jul 2017
This stunning studio was the perfect getaway for this bedraggled teacher! It has a great little kitchenette, comfy big bed, wonderful big screen tv and a cozy gas fireplace. It felt at times like a floating heaven because you literally are right on the water, or a dry docked houseboat. It really is a magical spot to unwind and relax, a perfect homebase to return to after hiking in the redwoods and spending endless hours on the nearby beaches.
Jeannette D. Jul 2017
Awesome place, right on the bay. Watching boats go in and out. Loved this place. Will be back again.
