(In another one of the magazine-worthy bathrooms, an official Jacuzzi brand jetted tub awaits peaceful soaks if that is more your style.) The second bedroom also boasts a California King-sized bed, and the third, a bunk bed with two twin-sized beds. After a day spent out in the sand and surf, wash your clothes in the private washer/dryer. And as an additional interior perk, appreciate a large air-conditioned garage.

Outside, a stunning swimming pool with solar heating and a sprawling ocean-view lanai are prepared to become staples of your vacation. From the enclosed backyard, you will be able to watch the sunset come nightfall. The neighborhood:
Alii Heights is above the shoreline in Kailua Kona, a residential setting that puts you within driving reach of some of the coast's best beach days. Magic Sands Beach Park is nearby for sand and surf, while Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park offers walking paths, lava landscapes, and a chance to spot turtles. Alii Drive leads toward Kona's oceanfront restaurants, shops, and historic sites, and Kahalu'u Beach Park is a favorite snorkeling stop farther south. A car makes the most of this sunny, coast-focused part of the Big Island.

Getting around:
Kona International Airport (KOA) is about 10 to 15 minutes from Kailua Kona. A rental car is recommended for exploring the Kona Coast, although downtown shops, restaurants, and oceanfront Alii Drive may be walkable or a short drive away. Beaches, snorkeling, and groceries are nearby. Parking is generally available at properties or in nearby street and lot spaces.
