Seated in the living area of this beautiful home, you just might be tempted to ring for the servant. Its massive floor to ceiling fireplace looks like something out of an English country manor. The tasteful and elegant accessories complete it's regal ambiance. And while you're up, stroll out onto the deck off the great room and savor the resplendent green of the links and the majestic peaks in the distance. Outside there is also a shared hot tub to enjoy. Surf the internet with the free WiFi, listen to a CD, or watch a DVD or your favorite show on the 42" flat screen TV with cable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.beautiful, clean and spacious for a large group.
This was a great place to call our home base for a weekend of skiing and snowshoeing. Don't get confused by all of the lock boxes. The lock box you want is just right of the door, don't be fooled by the one on the door handle or on the tree in the front yard.
This is a beautiful house, but there are somethings that need to be updated. The dishwasher being one of them. Be careful with the door, it would drop further than it's supposed to, so slowly put it down when you load dishes.
Overall, this house fit what we needed it for, but next time I look for a place in Welches I'll be staying elsewhere.
We have provided more detailed information about which lock box guests are to use, and we have repaired the dishwasher. Thank you!
Wonderful home. Great layout of bedrooms both for young families and for couples. Add-on of studio apartment worked perfectly for our large group. Kitchen was very well stocked for large groups. Beautiful living room and nice to have other living areas in loft and play area down in bunk room.
we spent three nights just after xmas. 8 adults, 4 little kids. worked well. if you have small kids look at sleeping arrangement. the room with all the bunks is on a separate floor.

There was plenty of room and amenities for our large group. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. There were two coffee makers and a warmer which was really nice.
Very comfortable for a large group
The house was great. Right on the golf course and plenty of room for all of us!
Our family of 14, 3 children and 11 adults, met for 4 nights Easter week in the house in Welches. We enjoyed the location of the property on the golf course because no one was playing golf. The hot tub was great as was the playroom downstairs. The kids wanted to play foosball all the time. The kitchen was a good size for several people to be preparing their lunch or breakfast at the same time and when it came to dinner we had all the right pans and utensils. Everything was very clean throughout the house. Because the heater did not work correctly the first night we called in for a workman to come out the next morning. He appeared quite quickly and solved the problem of no heat.
The house is very spacious, great view and beautiful surrounding area ! The house has 3 fire places, which we enjoyed very much ! Well kept and cozy )
I highly recommend dealing with Vacasa for house rental, Luxery Accommodations for shuttle services that were timely and reasonably priced, and Timberline Lodge for their efficiency in wedding/reception planning.
This place was great for our annual family Christmas gathering. Great spaces for togetherness but also large enough and laid out to accommodate separation as well. Kitchen is very well equipped and a pleasure to cook in - not always the case when it's someone else's kitchen. Also enjoyed warming up at the outdoor fire pit fire pit after playing in the snow. Power went out for a while because of a storm, but there were plenty of candles and gas fireplace and cooking, so it did not ruin our fun. We had a great time and really enjoyed Our stay!
Beautiful house, beautiful location for a large management retreat. Highlight is the fabulous kitchen - and also lots of truly lovely bedrooms and fireplaces. A welcoming place where we could both work AND relax!
This house has lots of space and natural light via 3 stories of windows in the huge living room. Kitchen is large and quite well equipped, including instructions for using the large gas range/oven. There was plenty of space for our family members who were in town for a wedding. 5 bedrooms had queen or king beds, and a 6th bedroom in basement had 7 twin beds (not quite perfect for 5 teens of both genders, but couches elsewhere provided solution). Given the open space, some people found it to be rather loud, as voices echoed everywhere, but to be expected with that many people and such open space. One of the bedrooms is a very nice, quiet self-contained separate studio over the garage, with fireplace, bathroom, coffee-maker, etc. Internet worked very well. Hot tub was hot and inviting.
A few issues:
1) Rooms that didn't have a gas fireplace were cold, especially the basement room with 2 sets of double bunk beds and 3 twins. Central heat took many hours to crank up modestly, and didn't have much effect in those rooms with no additional heat source. Most rooms had at least an electric space heater, but it was insufficient for that basement room. We visited in early October. Perhaps owners will adjust heat controls for the colder months.
2) Instructions should have been provided in book about how to turn on gas fireplace in living room, as it was not at all obvious, and not a wall switch like the other gas fireplaces.
3) Light source in several bedrooms was insufficient, e.g. hall sconces and small bedside lamps didn't provide enough light in main floor bedrooms to pack a suitcase. Lamps weren't bright enough to read by.
4) Main floor is entirely wheelchair accessible!!! However, if renting to a person who cannot stand, please be advised that bathing would be close to impossible: choose between a small shower with high step and no shower wand, or very deep jacuzzi tub without even any grab bars.
5) If there was a sauna, it was behind one of several locked doors. We didn't inquire.
Overall, a very lovely house, well located and well equipped. It is rare to find a house anywhere that is both wheelchair accessible and big enough to accommodate 15 people.
Beautiful home in a wonderful location.
This house was perfect for 8 good friends to enjoy relaxing, music making with our early music ensemble and great food. Thank you!
We were a group of 5 families and we stayed at the Lodge at Welches for a vacation during the long weekend. The property was great and we had a wonderful time.
It was well maintained and had everything we needed to have a great time.
Overall a nice stay but there were some maintenance problem. The info regarding the WiFi not accurate. Heating problems.... Very important during winter, right?
Expired spices since 2012....
A beautiful house with plenty of space. We had a wonderful family weekend in this great house. Easy access to Mt. Hood ski areas and a quick drive from Portland.
When it came time for our 2015 Reunion(seven veterans and college friends all over 78 years old getting together for the first time as a group) selection of a place was impereative. Relationship to Portland Airport, Room locations, ample baths, close to resturants, golf, all became deciding factors. I toured the area in late May and got a walk through of the property and also looked at numerous others. It was quite apparent to me that this property would serve us the best, and that it did! Even our colleague who just had a new home built on Marthas Vineyard was impressed by the house and area. We couldn't have asked for much more, room was great, big enough for privacy, small enough for homey get togethers. Great kitchen, super deck area, bright and light enough from beautiful windows, great view of the Foxglove GC, and quiet at nite. On top of that the weather was fantastic which only contributed to help making the whole adventure better. The pros on this property far out weighs the cons which are only minor in the maintenence area. Would recommend for family reunions, business outings, multi-family vacations, wedding receptions, and golf outings. Enjoy!
We had group gathered from a couple of continents to meet and relax. There's lots of privacy for each bedroom, large area to meet together, fun things for the kids to do and a wonderful deck to enjoy.
our visit to this house was pretty terrific. we had everything we needed, lots of kitchen utensils, comfortable setting. the only thing that i would advise anyone who visits is to think twice if you are planning to vacation with a noisy crew. if you think you will stay up late having fun, skip this place. it's intimidating to be in such a quiet golf club setting with requirements to be quiet from 10pm. i had to quiet down enthusiastic children who were with us, which was a drag for them.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this review and we very much appreciate your feedback! Vacasa does have a Good Neighbor Policy for all of our properties which asks that noise be kept down after 10pm. We do understand this can be challenging for kids, especailly when they're having a great time. We're happy to see this didn't affect your overall enjoyment of this fantastic home! Thanks for choosing Vacasa.
We rented the place for a week for three couples and kids. Out of the seven days we stayed there, we caught five rainy days. At first, we were disappointed, but when we adjusted our activities, those days turned out to be the best. We had lots of talk, games, laughter, eating and drinking. The design of the house greatly helped; it separated the sleeping quarters into four zones and offered four different areas where people could gather. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. In short, it was an exceptionally good choice. We might return.
Would definitely choose this property again. We stayed here in June so did not use the fireplaces but loved that they are available for cooler weather. Beautiful view from studio apartment, as well as all main living areas. Huge kitchen with ample supplies of spices, utensils, cookware, dishes, etc.
Only area of concern was the lack of hot water to clean up kitchen. Water temperature set so low that we had to heat water on the stove to clean up cooking areas and wash pots and pans.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with Vacasa! Our local manager will investigate the maintenance item you mentioned and ensure the water heater is working properly so that our future guests do not experience this same issue. Thank you again for sharing your thoughtful and constructive feedback.
Very nice..the guys loved being on the golf course.
We really enjoyed this property and it worked very well for our purpose. We had a work retreat weekend and the property was very spacious and allowed us to all be in the house without being cramped.
One problem the day we left was the shower and bath on the main level stopped working but it also was only 9 degrees outside that night so possibly the pipes were frozen. Hope it doesn’t cause a problems for the owners. We were able to just use another shower that morning so all was good.
I recommend this house for work retreats, families with large amounts of people, large groups of people wanting to go snowboarding or skiing. Any large group of people.
Thanks for your kind review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that the home served your purposes well for your work retreat. Thanks also for the information regarding the shower/bath. We are investigating the problem. Thanks again!
We rented this house for a long guys' weekend. This house worked wonderfully in that there were beds for everyone (11 of us) and there was plenty of room to spreadout and not constantly be stepping on each other. The house was clean and tidy, though perhaps overpopulated with tchotchkes and life's detritus - there are tons of books and nick-knacks in every drawer, cupboard, and shelf (we found a book from the 1920s with a program from a 1926 Cincinnati Orchestra performance tucked in the front).
One area of concern we did have was with the cable service; there was a big football game on and we checked ahead of time to confirm the house had the basic cable service which included the channel we needed. Unfortunately, we didn't think to specifically ask whether the house also had a cable box. They don't. That meant only the analog channels offered within the basic cable package were available (and some of those, like ABC and CBS, were almost unwatchable); none of the digital channels, including Pac-12 Network were available. To their credit, the management company really impressed with their efforts to understand the problem and follow up with the homeowner and then with us. They couldn't actually fix it for us, but they tried, and I have no doubt if they could have, they would have.
The house has *tons* of dishes; there was never a shortage of silverware, plates, bowls, glassware, etc. They could have handled a small army.
One thing we noticed was that almost every room in the house has one or more mystery light switches. Seriously, in the "dining" room right next to the kitchen (where the TV is), I think there were 6 light switches in one long bank and not a single one of them seemed to do anything. It didn't help that there were many burned out light bulbs or that they used lots of regular bulbs in three way lamps.
The website said the house could accommodate 8 cars; the email and signage within the home all specify a hard limit of 5. Obviously that creates challenges if you planned on 8 but are then limited to 5; we squeezed more cars on the driveway and it worked, but it was an unpleasant surprise.
Hopefully the homeowners invest a little in the sprucing up the place, buying some decent TVs (this house has at least 3 CRT TVs) and renting a cable box, and maybe clearing out some of the clutter, but the house was big and clean and met all of our needs. All in all, we would definitely come back.
We found everything great and everyone enjoyed our family reunion time there.
Beautiful house in a little wooded golf community off the state route. House was bigger than expected (we could have slept another three people if we needed) and its location next to the 5th hole, with a view to the hills (if not Mt. Hood, alas) was tremendous. The wifi didn't work, but if you're out in the woods for the weekend, that can't be the worst thing.
Thank you for your review, we apologize for the inconvenience with the wifi outage during your stay but it has been restored so it should be all set for your next trip!
This house is HUGE! Probably the nicest rental house we have ever rented and we have rented quite a few. Thank you.
Thank you for your review! We are glad you had a great time and we hope to have you back again soon!
It was just an amazing place! We loved that we can be in our private areas and have the kitchen and living area as a common place to eat and just be together. The views from the house was awesome and just behind the house we enjoyed playing in the snow on the golf course. It was just an amazing experience and we will definitely be coming back to this place next year!
We had 15 family members all stay at The Lodge at Welches and we were very comfortable! We all had plenty of room and the beds were very comfortable. Lots of supplies in the kitchen. Very cozy with all of the furnishings, decorations; it just felt like home. Only thing I can think of to improve is the living/dining room could use a little more light. Got pretty dark at night. The candles helped.
Six of us (friends who went to grad school 25 years ago together) rent a house every year in a different location and this year we picked Portland which is how we found the house. We only used 4 bedrooms (2 had kings, 2 and queens) and opted not to use the kids room downstairs that has a few bunk beds and another room that has a single and trundle as these beds were not comfortable for us. The house was roomy, clean and in good condition. The oven is a Viking so it's not an easy oven to clean but it does appear to need cleaning. The coffee maker needs to be replaced. The only other deficiency in the house seemed to be with the vegetable peelers...they don't work well but this is incidental and we could all easily work with these things. What all of us didn't like was the request to start the laundry. It's not appropriate to ask guests to do this. We paid a housekeeping fee and this should cover the labor of cleaning up the house although we left it very good order. The management company wrote me a very nice e-mail explaining they ask guests to do this because it sometimes takes 9 hours to do laundry and they have to turn over the house. Turning over the house is the job of the management company and if one housekeeper is not sufficient or one washing machine is not enough, then the management company needs to hire additional housekeepers or send out the laundry. The solution is not to ask the guests to start cleaning.
We do appreciate this feedback. We did make sure you knew that we were not requiring this from you, rather it's just something that greatly helps our staff. Most of our guests do not mind throwing a load of towels in the washer prior to check out and we certainly never mean to offend our guests or ask too much.
Perfect house for a bunch of guys to use as a place to stay for a golf weekend. Easily accommodated 9 of us and was WAY nicer than we are used to. The course it is located on was great and we will definitely try to do this again.
Linda was wonderful to work with. She cleaned the refrigerator out first so that we could get food out of coolers and into the proper place to avoid spoilage as we were off to play five hours of golf. The house was VERY clean when we returned as she did a great job.
One concern was when trying to pay VACASA, I decided to take the check into their offices which were difficult to find as the address given appeared to be a vacant office. I didn't want to hand over a check of other people's money to just anyone and even didn't want it to get lost in the mail, so this did cause confusion and concern. After a few phone calls I was able to get it to the right people, but if there is any way to correct this issue, it would give a renter much more confidence in the transaction. Thank you. BTW, the address listed below is not the location I am referring to. The office where I took the check was in NW Portland, but I can't remember the street.
Thank you for your review! I apologize for the confusion with the payment as we don't get walk in payments to the Portland office very often. Our new location is much easier to find at 4440 SW Corbett Ave, Suite 204 in Portland.
We had not met our son-in-laws family so we used this property to merge two families. This property was ideal. Large enough for everyone to have their own space but with common areas for getting to know each other. The kitchen was ideal with a commercial grade oven. The surrounding area holds activities for everyone. Just a great experiance.
My entire family loved our stay in Welches. I was initially hoping for a view of the Mountain but changed my expectations when I realized the terrain and old-growth trees wouldn't allow that. The deck was spacious and perfect for a happy hour watching the afternoon golfers. Beautiful! Indoors was fun, too, with fitting antique decorations and many comfy bedrooms. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, pots and pans (though it could use some more bowls?) and we enjoyed many large family meals during our stay. Thank you for a wonderful memorable family reunion on Mt Hood!
We had a big group (15) and the house fit us comfortably. Good space, we never felt crowded. Well equiped kitchen, nice comfortable bedrooms. Will definitely stay again.
Good separation of space for a large group with kids. Comfortable beds and lots of places to relax.
We had 11 people stay in this house comfortably for 4 days. There is plenty of space and the location is beautiful - Thank You so much !!!
Very large and well appointed home on the golf course. Bedrooms spacious and comfortable. Fireplaces are gas and super easy to use. Kitchen is very well equipped for preparing meals. All in all a great experience!
