It was big enough for a large family with a very well appointed kitchen. Hot tub was nice. Lots of seating in large living area. Very close to Timberline lodge and ski areas. Walking distance to store in "downtown" Government Camp
Jasmine R. Apr 2019
Great for a big group - everyone had their own bed. Hot tub is awesome - covered space with string lights and lots of hooks for towels. Only drag is parking. The house only comes with 2 parking spots.
Manager response:
Thank you for providing feedback, Jasmine! We're glad this cabin made for a great gathering space to enjoy your vacation. There are two parking spots at this cabin, and additional parking located in Government Camp on the main loop. Please consider us for your next getaway!

Our group's 2nd time staying in this cabin, and we had a lovely stay! Clean, comfortable, beautiful, easy access to great snowshoeing, close to main road with a spa that feels like you're serenely secluded :)

Stayed at the Big Bear cabin with a large group of friends. House had plenty of room and was comfortable. Well stocked kitchen for all of our cooking needs. Would definitely stay there again.

Very nice and clean cabin. Only concern is the railing walking up to the 3rd floor is wobbly. Maybe it will be fixed soon. Sent an email.

We loved the cabin from top to bottom!! Beautifully decorated and so comfortable!! It accommodated our huge family no problem!!! They even had lots of extras just incase we forgot something. We had a great time!!!
Keith W. Aug 2018
Plenty of room. Well appointed.

The cabin is gorgeous and incredibly well stocked. The location is incredible just a 5 minute walk from govy camp. The cabin had tons of room and plenty of restrooms so guest didn't have to wait. The massive table was great for meals. My only complaint is that there is one neighbor who said it was her mission to get young people evicted and gave us a pretty hard time. Otherwise it was beautiful with mostly friendly neighbors.

Our family enjoyed our stay here. Great room perfect for group activities. Beds were comfortable. Pictures and description accurate. Sledding at cabin on old road to Timberline.

This was a terrific spot for our family reunion. The dogs and kids were in heaven and we got to cook some memorial meals together. Thanks

Very convenient and accommodates large number of guests.

We had an extended bachelor party here before a wedding at Silcox Hut on Mt. Hood. We had a great time at the house and the town! It has a huge community room for hanging out and playing games, cards, board games... consumption games. The kitchen was great too, lots of space for big meal preparation. I'm a chef and was very pleased with everything!

Great thanks to the Vacasa team!

Great spot for skiing and snowboarding but mattresses are too old and parking limited to two cars only.

The property was large enough for our group of 18. Kitchen amply stocked with everything we needed and then some. We loved that the stainless steel cookware and insta-hot water. Very clean and spacious. We will probably come again in the future.

Great experience

Big Bear accommodates a large group as long as you are good with multiple beds in a room.
Ronald F. Jun 2016
Nice place. Just needs some handyman trim work. Fantastic cabin feel, nice location to walk to town central. Great location for Mt. Hood. Would stay again.
Anne C. May 2016

Yes we highly recommended this property.

I would stay here again
Sean W. Apr 2016
The pictures look exactly like the place. All three families were ecstatic about the ample room, cleanliness, and access to Government Camp. The kids had a blast being able to walk up less than 2 minutes to their own sledding hill/snow park. It was like their own private ski/snowboard/sledding hill and the parents didn't have to worry about them so close down the street. The kitchen was a dream to work in and prepare meals for 12 people. The room upstairs was PERFECT for the kids to hang out while the parents were downstairs. A GREAT place and we will definitely be back!!
Becky S. Apr 2016

Time to update some of the broken fixtures, furniture, vents, blinds, and get better staffing at the call center for Vacasa.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review. We apologize that the home was not in a better state for your stay. Prior to this guest's visit we had a group in the home that left it in poor condition; we are actively working on repairing items in the home. We are also actively hiring more employees for the call center so that our guests can reach us more efficiently.
Amy M. Jan 2016
We had a great time playing up at the Mt. Thanks for the awesome location. We could walk everywhere we needed to go.
Andrey Z. Jan 2016
So nice location
Paula & Joe M. Jan 2016
Great spot for multiple families and plenty of room to sleep or spread out and do multiple activities in the cabin. Great kitchen.
Mindy G. Dec 2015
This is a great house and Vacasa is great to work with. How ever there is little to no parking for a house that promotes it can hold up to 18 people. Plus the little house can hold 12. There are only 5 spots for the both of them.
Joe B. May 2015
We really enjoyed the space with our grandkids. Plenty of room and nice space for everyone. The kitchen and supplies made cooking a joy. A nice walk to the downtown area to. Everyone in the neighborhood friendly to.
Dave C. Apr 2015
This place fit our group's needs perfectly. We had a bunch of folks looking to hang out in Government Camp, go hiking, and have relaxed fun. There are a ton of beds in this spot and all the amenities were solid. The neighbors were a bit worried in the beginning that we would be too loud - they probably have to deal with that too much - but at the end of our stay they came over to thank us for being so quiet. This is definitely a regular rental property - so don't expect a cozy homeowner type spot, but there are good things that come with that too. They've got all the rental arrangements on lock down - good rental instructions, sturdy everything, working hot tub, and all the tools you'll need to have an excellent trip. Really fantastic spot in my view. Thanks guys!

15 of us went to Mt. Hood for spring break and Big Bear was great! Convenient location, friendly proper staff and all the comforts of home! Would definitely stay again.
Karen M. Feb 2015
The big bear cabin was perfect for our work retreat! The log cabin aesthetic was beautiful, the cabin was easy to get to, and the space was very open and inviting. Vacasa does a great job of making it easy to stay there with simple instructions for running the dishwasher, laundry, etc and the check-out process is very simple and really eliminated the usual stress of cleaning up after such a large group. My only complaints: there wasn't a dustpan (which we needed on multiple occasions), the stove doesn't light well, and the instructions to get into the house (how to work the key code) were outdated. We spent 30 min standing outside at 9pm waiting to get proper instructions on how to get into the house. Parking is also very limited for such a big cabin. Thanks for making our retreat a big success!
Manager response:
We are so happy that you had a great retreat and hope that you will visit again soon.
Shelby B. Mar 2014
Our high school ski team stayed in this cabin and everyone loved it. It was convenient, clean, and there was room enough for everyone! Thank you for sharing your warm cabin with us!

We Celebrated Our Family Christmas in The Big Bear Cabin at Government Camp! We have adult sons, with wives and they have children. The log cabin is sooooo beautiful, large, comfy and very well equipped! Safe even for our youngest a 2 1/2 year old. There was no hoped for snow (1st time in ten years on Mt. Hood) , but we played many inside games, made lots of homemade hearty meals in the nice kitchen and enjoyed the local area, even have horse drawn carriage rides!!! We had a wonderful time!!!! We will be doing this again!!!
Audrey T. Dec 2013
This is a beautiful home. The proximity is close to everything including a hill to sled on and the mountain to ski. The hot tub could be better maintained and a little more thorough cleaning between guests. We tried cosmic night tuning which was awesome.
Manager response:
Thank you for your great review. We are really pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay at this great home. We will make absolutely sure that the hot tub is in perfect condition for our next guests. The same goes for cleaning of course!

This is a great cabin for a large group.
We had 4 families so each had a bedroom and the kids loved changing it up in all the bunk beds and twins.
Manager response:
We are glad that you enjoyed yourselves and had a great time. We hope to see you again soon!
Shon B. Jan 2013
About 10 of us stayed here for my birthday. We were going to hit the bars in Govy but ended up staying in the cabin the whole time because it was so comfortable. We played beer pong on the long dining room table and watched movies on the big screen. The only complaint about the entire cabin is that it didnt have a fireplace. Overall lots of fun and we would defiantly rent this property again.
Manager response:
A fireplace is a great idea and we will forward the idea to the owner!

Big bear cabin was an amazing experience I loved it very much it's the Best
Liz and Ben S. Jan 2013
It was like a Winter Wonderland at Government Camp. We stayed at Big Bear Cabin--lots of room, pet-friendly, and great comfort. Noise does carry, though, because of all the wooden floors. Still, it was a lovely experience, especially going out into the snow right outside the cabin and then coming in for some hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies. What a thrilling time we had!!
Mary and Ed B. Dec 2012
It was wonderful to have a white Christmas! Big Bear Cabin was warm and comfortable allowing our big family to make special memories together. It was unforgetable!
Kristen A. Jan 2012
Very beautiful fun place to stay. Sleeps lots of people and nice to have lots of bedrooms to choose from. Close to government camp downtown area. Would love to stay again. Vacasa was friendly and sent helpful emails during the whole process.
Louis L. Dec 2011
the big bear cabin was the perfect fit for our group. We had fun sking all day and relaxing all night. The TVs and sterio setup was top of the line with every hook up needed hdmi, aux for zune iPod dock it was all there so what ever you had it was ready. the kitchen was also set upup in the same fashion. Very nice high end apliances and utensils. Beds were amazingly comfortable woth 500 thread count sheets and goose down pillows. Loved the antiques on the walls. Some left out information is that the picture make it seem like the cabin is out i. The Woods by it self but in real life there are cabin all over 20ft in every direcrion. Overall a very great stay and very comfotable. Thank you vacasa rentals.
