Family-friendly house w/ entertainment & views of Mt. Baker - dogs OK!

With a beautifully remodeled interior and views of Mt. Baker on a clear day, this historic Coupeville farmhouse is perfect for your next family vacation to Whidbey Island. Spend your days kayaking and hiking on the island's shores, and return home to a dog-friendly living space, a wood-burning stove, and a selection of board games for your entertainment. Outside, there's a large area for the kids to play and plentiful outdoor seating if you want to gaze at the night sky in the absence of light pollution.

What's nearby:
This home sits across the road from the Naval Outlying Field Coupeville (NOLF Coupeville), where Navy jets perform their night flight training (which results in both a neat scene to observe and loud noises that can occur late at night). Here in the middle of the island, you'll find it easy to go both north and south, and there's a bike trail nearby that makes for easy excursions. The cottage is four miles southeast of downtown Coupeville's shops and restaurants, six miles east of the incredible Bluff Trail at Ebey's Landing, eight miles north of walking trails and Whidbey Pies Cafe at Greenbank Farm, and 15 miles south of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. With Deception Pass State Park only 23 miles north, you'll quickly find this area to be a hiker's dream.

Things to know:

Dog-friendly. Up to two dogs allowed.
The neighboring airstrip is home to the night flight training of Navy jets, which translates to loud noises

We loved our time at this charming place. The kitchen had all we needed and the beds were comfy! The kids loved the large yard for playing. Close to beautiful hikes and Fort Casey. We will be back!

This place was great! It felt very comfy and homey, even for 6 people. It’s a quick drive into Coupeville where you can walk around, check out the shops and have a glass of wine. Fort Casey is close by too, lots to do! I would definitely recommend.

We loved how comfortable and cozy the home felt for the weekend away. that weekend we did not hear any jets which was awesome because he had a infant and dog with us so we cant speak to that sound of the jets but would take our chances again, for sure!

The 7 of us had a great time here. The space is really comfortable and accessible. There was not enough toilet paper or paper towels for the 2 nights we stayed, so plan on bringing extra septic safe TP. Also lots of apples on the ground attracted a ton of yellow jackets which were rather problematic. They have a ton of traps up but the apples outweigh all those, so be cautious in the late summer and fall about that when booking. Over all it was great weekend and enjoyable space.
Manager response:
Hi, Courtney! Thank you so much for the review, and we are happy to hear that you had a great stay with us. That being said, we do apologize if some inconveniences occurred and wish we had known during your stay so that we could have helped out. We appreciate your feedback regarding the wasps and apples attracting them. We have addressed that and will be sure to pass your comment along to the homeowner for their consideration. By the way, you were the perfect guests, and we look forward to next time!

House lives up to the listing. Functionally, there is a separate 1st floor bedroom, the upstairs is divided but not private. The jet noise is no joke—but as expected and limited. Close to town and great hikes. Good running from the property.

This quaint, historic home is such a special place! The home has everything you need for a great get-away on Whidbey Island. We were so lucky to stay when the Navy jets were practicing on the field across from the house. It is amazing!! You will love your stay at this lovely home.

We loved it! The land was spacious and there were plenty of outside activities provided for the kids to be kids and enjoy. Kitchen and family table made for many enjoyable meals at home instead of restaurants and everything on the island is just a quick drive.
We expected much more airfield noise but it didn't bother any of us at all.
Great stay and would gladly book again if we return to Whidbey. Thanks!

We loved the kitchen and quaint decorations. It’s very well stocked with cooking supplies. The house is nearby to rhododendrons trails, giving you a great opportunity to walk in the first. It was a cute and comfortable home. The only drawback is occasionally hearing the jets practicing their landing next door at the OLF.

Loved this farmhouse in Coupeville. House was perfect size for our group.

Beautiful house, well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. I have seen lots of reviews complaining about location but for where we needed to be this was perfect. Oak harbor is only a 20 minute drive and I'd rather drive that vs. Staying in a motel in oak harbor.

This house has charm and character ❤️
However could use a shelf for food storage.

This little farmhouse is lovely. The kitchen is a dream for family or friend gatherings, the bedrooms and all amenities were perfect. Looking forward to staying here again!

The house was perfect for our family of four, well appointed and comfortable.
We really enjoyed watching the jets do their touch and go drills in the evenings from our front row seats across the road! We sat out in the lawn chairs under the stars both nights. It was a truly awesome experience for all of us, and one we would highly recommend.

Let us stay 1 night. Very relaxing. Nicely appointed. Lots of room for 6. Only note is that bunk is in the single room.
Suzanne S. Jul 2019
They did a beautiful job with this house. Perfectly cozy and comfortable.
James G. Jul 2019
Small farmhouse, nice remodel, private lot with a fire pit. Great stay for family with two kids. Close to Coupeville for restaurants and exploring. Would stay there again.
Virginia L. Jul 2019
So historic and still "modern". Comfortable and has everything needed but still feels like we stepped back in time. Deer just off the back porch! Beds were great.
Pablo V. Jul 2019
Very comfortable house. Felt like home!

Good sizes home, not far from tourist place. Really quiet and comfortable.

The house was clean and cozy. Perfect place to relax and unwind. The only downside are the loud navy jets but there are ear plugs available. Would definitely book another stay here!

This nicely restored 1900s farmhouse is so very charming and comfortable. We were in WA for our daughters wedding and this house was a welcome change from a hotel room. We were able to comfortably have six adults one 3 yo and our newest 2 mo grandson in the house with the ability to cook meals, do laundry and have the family around a huge old style farmhouse table. The upstairs beds are comfortable and while the downstairs room is a double/twin bunk bed, it still worked well so our daughter and son in law could be in the same room as their kids. The jets doing touch and goes right across the street was an added bonus. Like having front row seats to an air show. They are only out for a few hrs a few times per week but very cool. I would highly recomend this house. Everything you need is there. Just bring some food and your slippers.

The house was a perfect winter get away . We arrived from lots of snow (Toronto, Canada and Washington State's blizzard) and found this lovely farmhouse. The house was newly remodeled and furnished with crisp clean linens , dishes, pots and pans. etc. It was a perfect place to gather in the big kitchen, cook and eat by the fire, and then enjoy a movie after dinner in the living room. Loved the big sky with the full moon and stars so bright. It was too cold to use the back yard, but would be so nice for a cookout and star gazing. Also missed the thril of a fly over by the Navy pilots. Hope to go back in the summer for a get together with my Canadian relatives. Great whale watching and sea food on Island.

We loved the large kitchen and the fireplace. The bathroom was great and spacious. It was cold during our stay and it was cosy to have a fire going.

This home has been beautifully restored. It has been equipped with everything you could need. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of blankets and comforters which you will need in the winter time. Especially if you are hesitant to operate the wood stove. There is no central heating but there are room heaters in the bathroom and kitchen which work well for the small area. There are also electric fireplaces in the family room and upstairs bedroom. The property was a great location for us close to Coupeville and to Fort Casey where we attended a conference. Do be aware as is stated elsewhere in this site that the Navy's touch'n go airstrip for training fighter jets is directly across the street from this house and we experienced loud noise (sounds of freedom) that goes with the location during the week between 3pm and 7pm. A good pair of noise cancelling headphones will go a long way as well as the ear plugs kindly provided by the owners. Also great response to questions provided by customer service for Vacasa.
