The only thing was that house was roomy.

This spacious home fit our family of three nicely, but can easily accommodate as many as 10 or more. The single story is perfect for wandering toddlers, and anyone needing a break from stairs. Though not in the listing, it was a pleasant surprise to find the home fully stocked with booster seats, a pack n play, stroller, children’s colorful plates and utensils, games, puzzles, and more. We really enjoyed the play set in the back yard, and the quick walk to the beach through the secret path in the yard. The neighborhood (Wild Dunes) is beautiful and its sidewalks are perfect for easily walking with a stroller. Wild Dunes is quite extensive and not all homes, or even the hotel, are close to the main exit, but the location of this home made coming and going very easy. We explored much of Charleston - the Market, the Aquarium, etc., and were still able to get to the beach multiple times each day. This is our new favorite rental home on the island, and we will definitely be back! We recommend this home to anyone visiting IOP!

Our family of 6 adults and 2 young children had a wonderful Fall week at the beach, staying at Abalone Alley 4!
With 4 bedrooms, there was plenty of room to spread out in the house, & each of our three families had their own bathroom. The master bedroom is especially roomy & pleasant - a nice respite for happy, tired grandparents! The den right off the large, well-stocked kitchen was an added bonus, stocked with books, games & a large tv. A perfect setup for keeping watchful eyes on the little ones while fixing meals. You can also keep an eye on the pool activities from both the kitchen and the living room. We also appreciated the large island in the kitchen, which made food prep by several people at a time much easier.
We really enjoyed having the pool, as well as the playground set, both of which provided nice respites.
The walk from the house to the beach was very convenient, taking a short path through the backyard to the main Wild Dunes entrance sidewalk, crossing one road without any real difficulty to get to the beach side, followed by a relatively short stroll down a pleasant side street to the beach access. No problem for the little ones, either. Also, the beach itself at this access point had plenty of fun little tidal pools for young ones to, sit, play and explore in.
We would definitely consider staying here again!

The lay out of the home was perfect for us. The WiFi worked well for my grand children to continue doing the online schooling. Having the pool right there was very convenient so the kids could take breaks and play in the pool for short times during the day. We found the family room next to the kitchen to be a very comfortable area for games and family time in the evenings. The beach is a short walk, which we did each day with no problem at all. Bring citronella candles and or torches since there is a lot of brush in the back and around the house which makes the mosquitoes pretty bad. I gave the house 3 stars because of this and it does need some repairs.

The house was bigger and more updated than some of the pictures- particularly the pool Area and bathrooms. Here are some things to pass along;
1) two fridges in the house
2) if you cut through the back yard you’re one block from the beach (our three year old walked it daily)
3) mosquitos were bad in the back yard- minimal candles/tiki torches, bring your own
4) food trucks (during the pandemic) at the parking lot of the wild dunes was nice for not cooking but not ready to dine out
5) don’t skip a trip to SULLIVAN’S island (try hometeam bbq)
6) there is a mini market and breakfast/lunch grill at the marina which is close and never crowded compared to the Harris teeter on the island
7) internet was not super strong for anyone “remote working”
8) the Harris teeter in mt pleasant right before the island does pick up orders, as does target, but the Harris teeter on the island doesn’t
9) there were nice bath towels at the house, bring pool/beach towels- there were some chairs(2) pool noodles and floats that seemed to be left by others to use . The pictures are misleading there are no lights in the pool at night!
10) kitchen was stocked For basic cooking, bring your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets. One sponge, one load of dish detergent, one trash bag and one paper towel provided at check in.

Enjoy this beautiful beach and house!

We loved the house. It was larger than the pictures appeared and 9 of us fit perfectly. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and Eve we needed. Due to COVID we cooked every meal. 2 refrigerators was a nice surprise! The house was very clean and smelled of a fresh cleaning with bleach, except for the floors which left our feet black and no mop was found to clean it ourselves.
Access to the beach was fantastic and a quick walk. No beach chairs or beach towels available so bring your own. The pool is not heated so be prepared for that if the weather is cool.
We had a great time and would definitely return. Also the email and texts from Vacasa were timely and informative the week of our stay.

Since I have given the company 3 chances to correct and compensate I will post these comments on my experience.
Check in was frustrating since no one was at office and no directions for key box. Luckily the door was open at the house. On arrival at house we found urine in one of the toilets, bugs in sink, pool that was about five inches short of water and sucking air into valve.
Then toilet was overflowing from back, attempted to check it out, it overflowed again. Used all clean towels to soak up water. Tried three times to call help number, 30 minutes on hold, no answer.
Next morning was able to talk with someone that was not local. She was very nice and apologetic and said she would waive the cleaning fee... we said that was not enough based on no working toilet in Master bathroom. She said she would check and see if she could discount 25%, we payed over $4000.00 for the week. She never got back to us. Then I stopped by the office and spoke with a women, she was also very polite and apologetic , promised to follow up with us after speaking with higher up... we never heard from her.... we checked out a day early.
This property although a great locations is pretty in need of some TLC. For that price the I expected a lot more. We have rental properties and I would feel bad about charging that price for such a poorly managed property.
Manager response:
Hi Edward, we apologize that you were unhappy with your visit. We apologize if the cleanliness of the home left something to be desired, and we will follow-up with our housekeeping team to see that future cleans are completed to our standards. We are so sorry for any delays in communication or assistance with check-in. The current events have lead to an unprecedented volume of calls and messages from our guests, which has posed significant delays in our communication. We are happy to report that we have added several new team members and reworked our phone system to help us ensure guests receive prompt assistance. We hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future.

The house was great. Spacious home, private pool, excellent patio space, a playground for the kids, and just a five minute walk to the beach. Exactly what we wanted.
