Romantic, dog-friendly cabin with on-site courtyard, close to wineries!
Wake up each morning in the heart of Texas wine country when you stay at this dog-friendly one-bedroom Fredericksburg suite, an ideal destination for couples, friends, and wine enthusiasts who want easy access to the Highway 290 Wine Trail.
This beautifully appointed getaway is one of five private suites in the Historic Rocky Cottage, an atmospheric complex of traditional stone cabins, shops, and four tasting rooms on the Highway 290 Wine Trail. These intimate suites can either be rented individually or all together for groups of up to 12 guests.
Wonderfully located six miles from downtown Fredericksburg, this wine country retreat is close to restaurants, historic sites, and a seasonal farmers market in the Marktplatz Kinderhalle. It's also just a short walk from Alexander Vineyards, Fiesta Winery, Rancho Ponte Vineyard, and Six Shooter Cellars.
Step inside to admire unique tin ceilings, wrought iron details, and cheerful country-inspired decor. A patterned rocking chair gives the living space a timeless charm, while a flatscreen cable TV provide modern convenience.
You'll have a coffee maker to help ease you into the day, but please be advised that there is no kitchen. Therefore, instead of spending your time cooking and cleaning, you'll be free to enjoy delicious lunches at the Sunset Grill in downtown Fredericksburg, or sit down for a lovely bistro dinner at Vaudeville.
The Tempranillo Suite also opens onto a beautiful shared courtyard full of shade trees, a bubbling waterfall feature, and even live music performances most Saturday afternoons, courtesy of the nearby Fiesta Winery.
At night, this one-bedroom, one-bathroom suite will sleep as many as four guests. There are two queen-size beds, each with an intricate wrought iron bed frame and a quilted coverlet, as well as one full bathroom with a stall shower. Dogs are welcome for a small nightly fee.
With wonderful shopping and four tasting rooms directly on the property, guests will never need to venture far to experience the Texas wine country. You'll find some of the best local wines just a short walk or drive away, including Grape Creek Vineyards and 4.0 Cellars, both of which are located four miles east.
Guests can also take a charming trip back in time by strolling the streets of the Fredericksburg National Historic District, which is home to more than 80 sites of historic interest.
Your wine country vacation can begin today—this Fredericksburg suite will give you a relaxing and sun-filled getaway you won't soon forget!
*Please note that there are 5 units on the property. Two are located in one building and the other three are located in another building. This unit is in the building with three units.
This "B&B" is about 6 miles outside of the town center of Fredericksburg, It is not a traditional B&B but they had provided a stocked mini fridge of juice, milk and waters, assorted cereals, coffee and creamer and a delicious homemade Danish pastry. They also had microwave popcorn and hot chocolate available.
The room was very clean and had everything that we needed. The bathroom was on the small side but also clean. Walls are a little thin as we could hear our neighbor's tv into the wee hours of the morning. Other than that it was a wonderful stay.
It was charming very comfortable and clean. My daughter had a wonderful weekend there.
Close to town and all the wineries
Clean and super cute.
We loved how cute & cozy our stay was! Very clean and the breakfast cinnamon rolls were delicious! My girls already asked when we could go back!
The room was very clean, and comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well. The bathroom is a bit small and had some minor inconveniences with it. The towel bar fell off the wall when grabbing a towel, and the faucet handles on sink were so wobbly we were concerned they would as well. There were plenty of fresh towels but no hair dryer. There was cereal, milk, cream, and sugar for coffee. There was also a cinnamon roll/bread for breakfast which was good the first morning but rather stale the second morning. We opted for breakfast somewhere else. It's closer to HWY 290 than I expected from the pictures but the road noise really didn't bother us. Checkout time is 11:00 but the maids showed up about 9:30 and we weren't totally ready to leave. (did leave about 15 minutes later). I would probably stay again at this location. The price is very reasonable.
Love this little place! It’s cute, quiet and on the same property as 3 other wineries. Fiesta Winery was our favorite of them all! Water, milk & OJ provided in the fridge. 5 minute drive into town. We loved our little getaway. Would definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was ready for us and the coffee cake was soooo good! I would definitely recommend a stay here.
I can't say enough about this place and what a great time we had. It was so comfortable, clean and quiet even though it's on the highway going into Fredericksburg. They had thought of everything including having coffee cake, cereals and orange juice for our breakfast. I would give this more than 5 stars if I could!! If you stay here you won't be sorry. Thank you Rocky Hill for a great stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Historic Rocky Hill: Tempranillo Suite. Spent 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. Loved that the mini frig was stocked with milk, juice & water. Also had snacks like cereal and popcorn and the cake was delish. Nice big room with 2 queen beds. There was 3 wineries located right next door. Would highly recommend this place.
We absolutely loved the property! It was exactly what we were looking for while on our 4 day moms escape! It was peaceful, well lit, very clean and the details were a nice touch! We arrived to find a delicious coffee cake, juice, cereal and water waiting for us to enjoy! The room had 2 fans and a nice sized air conditioner! It was a perfect place to beat the heat as have some girl time! Will definitely be staying there again!
This vacation rental was perfect! It was clean with wonderful decor. The bathroom was large and fully equipped with plenty of towels, a hair dryer, and shower necessities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion). The mini kitchen was great- a fridge, coffee maker, and some breakfast goodies. We absolutely loved sitting on the front porch in the evening. It was close to our favorite winery and was the best little getaway. I will definitely book again!
The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and super clean. We enjoyed the juices, coffee and delicious coffeecake for breakfast. Nice setting among the wineries. Thank you for making our stay memorable.
Nice place and very convenient for our Luckenbach festival visit!
We absolutely loved this room! The beds were very comfortable, the room was large nd spacious, shower was spotless and water pressure amazing, and the temperature was well regulated. There were also a surplus of outlets and a few snacks in the room for morning cravings. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
We always enjoy staying at Rocky Hill, it's nice to spend time in town then come back in the evening to a nice quiet place. Also nice to come back on a Saturday afternoon, get a glass of wine & listen to a band. Tempranillo Suite was great, had everything we needed.
Love the little casa. Wished it had a tub to soak in after our long drive! The breakfast treats were very thoughtful! We will be back!
The room was spacious and clean. It was filled with a complimentary breakfast for the next morning. The winery was very close to downtown. We had a great time.
Three of my girlfriends and I stayed in the Tempranillo suite for a total of three days/two nights. The building pictured is the cabin that holds three suites, you walk through the double red door to a entry way that leads into the three separate suites. You use a key pad to get in to the individual suites, so you don't have to worry about keeping up with a pesky key while out and about. The room was very large and the beds were extremely soft and each had enough pillows for an army, it was wonderful! They are kind enough to provide a coffee cake and stocked the fridge with little milks, water and orange juice . Also they provided popcorn, coffee, tea and individual cereal. We weren't expecting any of that so it was a nice surprise. They provide plenty of towels and all the basic toiletry needs. (Including a Blow Dryer) One thing to note is that the walls do not go to deck, they stop at the ceiling which in most cases would be fine but with the decorative metal ceiling they have in the rooms, you do get a some sound traveling between rooms. However, we never heard our neighbors until....they were getting "busy".....which made for an interesting evening. But again other than that the cabin was quite and even with a packed house at Fiesta Winery we didn't hear much outside noise. Each room has their own A/C unit so you can make the room as cold or as warm as you want. Like many of the other reviews say, the cabin is in the same lot as Fiesta Winery, Vintage Cellars and 6 Shooters! Pretty much apart of the cabin. We used 290 Wine Shuttle for travel to the other wineries and they were generous enough to pick us up from the cabin once we are on their route, however they can't pick you up till about 11am even though they open at 10am. Then when you are finished for the day you just tell the driver you will be staying at Fiesta Winery and they will mark you off the list so they aren't searching for you at the end of the day. Very nice service and the people that run it were super helpful! All in all, YES STAY HERE!! You won't regret it! Unless you are planning on doing a ton of shopping in town or don't plan on going to multiple wineries it only makes sense to stay on the route with access to the shuttle. Being on the route has many benefits and conveniences! Also the drive into town in less than 10mins. We would eat lunch a the winery then drive into town for dinner. (uber is now available in Fred so if you don't want to drive into town after the wineries you can always use that service! )
Nice cabin within the winery.
Ver clean and close to the town
Property was cool. I don’t like writing reviews.
I chose this room because there were 3 of us, and the room has 2 beds. The room is nicely furnished, and we enjoyed the close proximity to 3 wineries.
The facility is steps away from Hwy 290, so it’s very noisy all night long. It also feels too far from town. It’s pretty dark-more lighting would be nice.
The room itself is decorated nicely. We had a passcode to enter, and never saw or spoke to any staff. No daily room service. We ran out of coffee cream. We had plumbing issues with the toilet. The heater is operated with a remote. It turned off and on all night. It woke us up every time it came on, so we finally turned it completely off, but then we were cold.
This room was not what I had hoped it would be for our girls get-away. Now that I’ve been to the area, I would choose differently.
We are sorry to see there were some disappointments with this stay and wish the guest had contacted us as these are all issues we likely could have dealt with immediately to enhance their visit. We have been unable to find any plumbing issues other than a drain stop in a sink that won't stay up well. This is now scheduled for repair. Since this is not a hotel we do not do daily housekeeping, but our housekeeping team does do a refresh every other day for visits that are longer than two nights. We would have been happy to bring more creamer or any other items needed had we been contacted. Our best guess for the heater is that the unit was on auto. We have not had any other complaints on this, but we will keep our ears open. Thank you!
Had splendid visit hiking up enchanted rock and visiting the local restaurants and wineries
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay. It was nice to have pastries and water, juice and milk bottles in the frig.
Nice place to stay. If you want to get away from the hussle and bussle, this is the place! It was very well supplied and clean. If you bring kids, make sure you have something for them to do. Not much out here for them. Luckily, we let our son take over the tv and play video games. He seemed to be happy about that. WiFi was also a plus, because I needed to get online to complete school work.
We were impressed with the B&B that we chose. Room was stocked with snacks and drinks, rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Excellent place for a “Girls Weekend” or “Couples Getaway.” Location was close to shopping, wineries, and historical sites.
Aside from a few things we wish we had for our stay, the place itself and the on site tasting rooms were great! The room was bigger than we thought it was going to be (we were in the Tempranillo room) and overall it was just a great stay! If I revisit Fredericksburg, I’ll definite be looking to stay here again!
It was a great experience! Close to downtown. Was very peaceful and the front porch was nice to sit and relax on after along day of shopping!
The location is perfect...a few minutes from town and close to many wineries, Wild Seed Farms and Luckenbach. We loved it!
Beds were super comfy, soft fluffy towels. The porch is wonderful for drinking coffee in the morning, sipping a glass of wine in the evening. And the breakfast pastry was wonderful!
loved our stay here, it was perfect !
This room was very centrally located and convenient to Main Street as well as the wineries on hwy 290. More than enough room for the three people we had. I do however think the website depicted the site as all separate little houses when choosing rooms, and they are all actually in the same building. Can hear people in neighboring room through the walls. Key lock pads were nice and easy so you don’t have to keep up with a key. About ten minutes from town, very easy drive. Would recommend staying here and would stay here again.
The location is fantastic and the staff are delightful. Clean, spacious, quiet accommodation in between town and nearby wineries. Will be back for sure!
Our cabin was in a great location. We were able to easily get to town for shopping and eating and it was located close to some great Wineries. (Grape Creek (great ambiance), 4.0, William Chris, Becker, Inwood Estates (my favorite) to name a few) I liked how the cabin was kind of out of town so it was easy to head out after our trip.
Obviously you don't know anything about the property and don't care about safety at all. Worst location for single ladies. On the highway with no on site presence by anyone else. Clearly occupied by 1 guest with one car visible and all else dark. No real security at all. An invitation to bad guys. Very scary.
nice house. great location
We had a wedding to attend in Albert and we definitely got lucky finding this place! Great spot and beautiful area with tastings right outside the door. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!
This is a great little place to retreat to if you are looking for a quiet place to escape to for a few days! Will definitely be back!
We stayed here overnight with the kids and it was in a great location. Not too far from town but mixed with some fun tasting rooms on site.
This place is in the perfect location for wine tasting. You just walk right over! It was cute a cute place with nice furnishings and there were drinks and snacks provided as well. Just awesome all around.
This was a great spot for our girls trip. Just like the description says there are 4 wineries onsite. These just happened to be our favorite. There were 4 of us and we all just loved this set up. The beds were comfortable and they had plenty of amenities for all of us. We might make this our yearly stop!
My BFF & I decided to do the winery-wildflower trail and Rocky Hill was the perfect spot to overnight & be right in the heart of the 290 wineries. We stayed in the Tempranillo suite with 2 beautiful white iron beds covered in lovely quilts. It was totally charming. Besides being outfitted with coffee, teas, cereals, milk, juice & water, they even had wine & port glasses & a cork screw to enjoy a bottle from our day's journey. The cinnamon roll cake was superb.
The Tempranillo suite was very spacious and clean. Beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. Very easy to let ourselves in and out with the electronic locks. Really great location. Adequate continental breakfast.
For those traveling to Fredericksburg for wine tasting, this is a perfect location, given the multiple wineries on site.
The property is a quaint, rustic setting but still very comfortable. Very easy to locate right along Highway 290.
We loved our getaway with our pup. He was so comfortable and so were we. The place had its own wine tasting and courtyard as well. Be careful to not let your dog out unleashed as the cabin opens up to highway 290. There is a beautiful fenced in backyard that is great to let your dog play.
Very clean, accommodating
Place was clean and quiet.
My family and I loved our stay! The pictures do it no justice. So much cuter in person and the room had plenty of space for myself, husband, and 2 teenage daughters and dog.
Great location if you're doing wineries! Decorated very cute and very clean. Nice personalized note and cinnamon bread provided upon arrival
As many others have stated, be sure and book cabs 20-30 minutes in advance.
I stayed at the Tempranillo Suite. The room was great. The breakfast was horrible. We had to go into town for breakfast. The orange juice was sour and the coffee was not fresh.
We are very sorry to read this as most our guests enjoy the provided breakfast.
Very welcoming place, loved the room! One recommendation would be to partner with the wineries around to possibly get a discount on their tastings or bottles to incentivize those who stay in the suites. We didn't try any of them, rather we went to others down the road.
This was perfect for our sisters trip. Nice place. Cozy and comfy. Would absolutely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay and found the room to be very comfortable. Though it's right on 290, the room is amazingly quiet with no road noise. Beds are comfy and we slept great. We loved that there were four tasting rooms adjacent to the property. Very convenient point from which to explore the Texas Wine Trail.
I would recommend vacasa. Good experience. On site wine testing was plus.
We loved this place! The décor, comfort and location were all a big plus. The yummm, HUGE cinnamon roll that was left for breakfast was fantastic, along with the other touches of juice, milk, coffee and other convenient snacks. Would definitely stay again!
The location of this property is excellent! It is right off 290 in the middle of all the wineries.
It was cozy and in a great location. The property shares a courtyard with three other vineyards which allowed us to spend one evening drinking wine and watching the sunset and the horses run in the nearby pasture. They provide breakfast and coffee for you in the privacy of your own room. All of the Vacasa employees provided great customer service. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone and look forward to trying out different Vacasa locations in the future.
Great place to stay with my daughter and our dog. Everyone was comfortable. It was nice to sit on the front porch and relax or walk over to one of the wineries. Nice property. Quick easy 5 min drive into town. Breakfast provided was very good too!
Nice, quiet location near town. Loved visiting nearby Enchanted Rock and Luckenbach as well.
I loved the room and the peace and quiet that I experienced. Everyone was very nice and friendly and helpful. My trip was all I could ask for and more. Thank you
I highly recommend staying at the Vacasa Tempranillo suite! Check in and out was effortless. Our suite was perfection. Comfy beds, a delicious coffeecake, and a quiet atmosphere await you!
Had a great time. The room was beautiful and had a great feeling of privacy away from town and noise. Perfect for a girls getaway!
Good place for couples or maybe a girls get away. Charming. nice courtyard
The property was laid out for a lot of fun shopping or enjoying wine. It was also close to town. Live music was good. A little short on parking.
Wonderful location. Plenty of room!
