We loved the feel of house. It had all the amenities to make us feel at home and the view is amazing.
Great home, great location
Tabor Haus is a gorgeous home that provides a unique and perfect combination of a cozy lodge style atmosphere next to a lot of nature, but also with walking access to night life and easy access to all that Portland has to offer.
The home is in a great location. Beautiful view. The hill to get up and down to and from the house was a little challenging with the snow and ice. It doesn't snow a ton in Portland so may not be an issue for others. No TV's was kind of a bummer. The house was clean and comfortable. The hot tub was amazing!
Stayed here with my wife, 2 friends and their spouses. All the rooms are nice and the hot tub has a great view. We were on a road trip in an RV, which we parked on the street. Its in a nice neighborhood so the neighbors were definitely scoping us when we arrived to make sure we weren't setting up shop on the street. After speaking with them there was no issue. The hike up the driveway is a bit of a trek if you have a lot of baggage so keep it in mind if you are out of shape.
Make sure to take a hike up the hill to the park, you'll get a great view of Portland.
Also plan to make a couple meals while you're staying as they recently updated the kitchen and there is a nice dining area.
No TV which makes it nice. White carpet so make sure to tell people to take your shoes off.
They give you plenty of towels and some Tide pods to do laundry with.
Living room lightswitch is in the upstairs loft (took us a minute to find it).
This house is walking distance to bus downtown, right next to Mt Tabor for walking/hiking, short drive to Hawthorne street. House is great for entertaining. View of Mt. Hood to die for!
We appreciated the response from VACASA the first evening when we called to report that there was no coffeemaker and that the one fan in the house we not sufficient. They called back and sent someone in the early morning to deliver new ones. Thanks very much!
The house is incredibly spacious and has great views of Mt Hood. I would stay at this house every time I visited Portland.
A lovely chalet style house with magnificent views over Portland and Mount Hood. Plenty of space for a family of 5 from Scotland and the kitchen had plenty of kit to actually cook meals, which makes a change. The hot tub experience for us was brilliant especially at night.
What a great place to spend a girl's weekend. The house is very nice and comfortable. The attention to detail was very nice.
The property and the views are exceptional. Would stay here again!
Tabor Haus was everything that we could have wanted and more. Fully furnished in a style that makes it feel like home, not just accommodation. The view of the mountains was superb (by the end of the trip you could not see much due to the smoke from wildfires but that is definitely not the fault of the house).
Put simply, when we return to Portland, we will definitely return to Tabor Haus.
Soooo.. by the time you pay this place’s “extra fees” you are paying a little over $350 per night. For 2 people. I don’t mind splurging for a 5-star place, but this one was not! I don’t think I even need to mention having to lug your suitcases and stuff up that long steep driveway because so many people have... but additionally, where you have to park, the passenger side opens the door to a thick WALL of English Ivy that you have to step thru to get to the driveway. Second, my husband and I carefully pick places where the deck and outside experience is wonderful. I had to spend the first 30 to 45 minutes sweeping a thick covering of leaves, sticks and dirt off the table, chairs and deck. Also, there are things inside that make the place seem a bit rundown. The carpet badly needs to be replaced. The big picture windows need the tint replaced because it looks as if the windows are very dirty. And the tubs need to be refinished or replaced. Unfortunately, when you ask the kind of price this place asks, the expectations for pristine and perfection are higher. We’ve never paid that much for a place in the past, but this was one of the least impressive as far as the condition of the house.
We are very sorry to see this guest was so disappointed with their stay. The driveway and pathway to the house are part of the charm. The home is on the side of Mt. Tabor and is a beautiful location. Housekeepers clean the patio at the end of each clean, but with the area being covered with trees, and it being fall, it's impossible to ensure the patio is still clean by guest arrival. The owner is aware of the state of the carpets, and we have also advised them of the guest's comments regarding the windows and tub. We hope to have another chance to impress!
We loved our stay at Tabor Haus, we felt very much at home. The view was incredible, and the management company's directions were very straight forward. The home offered a very spiritual feel, great for a family get away to unplug.
You may read this in other reviews, but I think the management company cannot emphasize this enough.. the driveway is steep and there are several stairs to the second floor. While the setting is absolutely amazing, this is not meant for people with any difficulty walking.
In any event, we have already planned our next stay!
/we had a 70ish traveling with us and he had a very hard time with the driveway and steep steps. We loved this place and would rent again if we are in the area
Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.
Everything was clean and ready for us. The view and the hot tub were great.
Really loved the location. The house was great, except for the steep driveway.
We enjoyed staying at this place. It has a fascinating view. It is clean and roomy.
For those who go trough the reviews and see the complaints about the Hut Tub, don't worry it is in great shape and running.
The hut tub was a great plus with that fascinating view. We had a great time on the porch!
Overall, I highly recommend this place to those who want to enjoy a nice and cozy vacation in Portland.
Great house that was close to attractions. Would definitely stay there again.
We will be back! Tabor House is a good choice in the Portland area.
We chose to stay at the Tabos Haus on a recent visit to Portland (with our two kids and nanny). The house has a very ski villa feel to it and on a clear day has an awesome view of Mt Hood. Having a jacuzzi on the deck to take in the views was fantastic. It backs up to Tabor Mountain which was very nice for walks and jogs. Beware the driveway is very steep and it can be a bit of a hike up to the door.
Awesome place, one of the best weekend get always I've had in a long time!
Beautiful house everything was exactly like it was pictured, this was our first time in Oregon and immediately fell in love with Portland and the places we visited.
Almost the entire place has a fabulous view centered on Mt Hood. The place is modern, immaculate, and very comfortable. There is a hot tub on the deck with the same view. It is on the slopes of Mt Tabor, which is a nice place to walk.
Rented the home for 2 adults and 3 young teens to see the Portland area over spring break. House location was excellent for access to downtown and to get out east to the Columbia river gorge area. Views were excellent and home felt really warm with the chosen decor. Kitchen was stocked really well with all the necessary equipment and everything was really clean. Really appreciated the fact that towels and some paper products were well stocked, all too often it's not the case. Frustrating to pay additional for a hot tub that did not work (was warm, not hot) and that this had been noted in other reviews.
The hot tub issue has been resolved; we apologize for the disappointment this caused our guests.
Amazing place for friends or families to stay! Super roomy and cozy with epic views!
Very awesome experience for a family vacation spot in Portland. We loved the house!
We spend 4 nites in this home with two of our adult children. We had a few more folks in for Thanksgiving and all in all, the home worked well for us. Some people may be put off by the absence of a TV in the main living area but we really didnt miss it. We would stay here again.
We loved the Tabor House! The home is beautiful, comfortable, and well stocked with kitchen equipment. The best thing about the home is the great view of the city and Mount Hood. We could not get enough of it and would love to stay here again in the future.
Our stay at Tabor Haus was incredible! The views from the house were amazing. The house was stocked with everything we needed -lots of towels, extra blankets, bathroom supplies, etc. Everything in the house was very clean and well-maintained. If we are ever back in the area, we would definitely stay here again.
This property worked very well for our family get together with our son who lives nearby. The weather did not cooperate for us to view Mt Hood, but watching the storm's clouds and rain move over the city from the large picture windows was great. Having a kitchen and laundry room made this a home-away-from-home for hosting this get together. The hot-tub was a very nice added amenity. Having Mt Tabor in the "backyard" was good for "running" the kids. Be warned though, the driveway is steep (and slippery when wet) and the stairs add another steep climb.
I was in town with my family. We were visiting family and friends who live in Portland, and there was going to be a lot of "togetherness", so I decided to book this place. It was so wonderful! The view was spectacular - even at night and on a cloudy day. Everything was very easy. The rooms are enough apart from each other that you don't feel on top of one another. My five-yr-old daughter loved the loft area. The kitchen had A LOT of cookware, so preparing food was very easy here. There were no guarantees about oils or spices or other such things to prepare meals, but there were a few in the cupboards to choose from, and that was nice. Especially appreciated the washer and dryer, so we could come home with clean clothes and not have to do all the laundry after a longish flight. The only slight negative is the really steep driveway and stairs to walk up, but we knew about that ahead of time, because others had mentioned it in their reviews on VRBO. We did not use the hot tub, but that was a nice touch to have available. Overall, this exceeded my expectations. It was a wonderful place to relax after long days with extended family. Highly recommend!
We rented 5 houses for our wedding guests. This house was by FAR the best place! The view of Mt. Hood is great. Everyghing about this rental was great from check in to check out.
Although property is great, you have to park on street and the it is extremely steep.
we would rather have parking on property, as it was very difficult to take our luggage up and down with extreme slop.
It is a bit of a hike getting up to the front door, but the incredible views are worth it. The home is very cozy, and accommodating, as we would stay here again without hesitation.
We rented this house, instead of a 2 hotel rooms for a business trip. It was the Perfect place to return home to after long days. It was close to downtown as well as many of the local attractions. Well appointed and equipped. Also, don't worry about no AC. It always cools down at night, and if it is a little hotter there are plenty of fans in the home. Thanks for making a long week a little easier!
The house is super nice - like a cabin on steroids. Very clean. We were there for 2 nights in August during the yearly heat wave - the bedrooms were supplied with giant fans that sounded like a jet engine, even on low. Other than that, the place was great.
Beautiful place. Quiet yet close to downtown
Breathtaking view of Mt Hood, close to everything, beautiful neighborhood, well-maintained and completely equipped home, responsive property managers, right at gorgeous Mt Tabor Park. Web site presentation of property is very accurate. If stairs aren't a problem for you, definitely consider Tabor Haus!!!
Terrific house and location. Allowed me to see and do all that I aimed to on my trip.
This home was a relaxing place to stay. The view alone is worth it. Nothing like sitting in the hot tub looking out at Mt. Hood. The house was fun and well-decorated and even had a ukulele. I was ready to move in, but unfortunately, our vacation ended. The only thing I would warn anybody about is that you have to park on the street and walk up a steep driveway and then two sets of stairs. But, with all of the good food in Portland, I suppose it isn't a bad thing to get a tad bit of exercise.
With lots of wood in the interior of this home and an elevated lot which affords a view of Mt. Hood on a clear day, this home felt cozy and warm. The spa on the deck was great after a day of hiking in the Gorge. The neighborhood is nicer than most we saw. We loved it. Only drawback is that you have to park on the street. The driveway is a steep walk so this is not A place for the disabled.
Cozy cabin in Mt. Tabor with hot tub and incredible views especially when the mountain is out. Lots of space to spread out. Easy drive to downtown. Very steep driveway to climb. Affordable alteernative to hotel rooms if travelling with kids.
Very comfortable home; not for families as there is no yard. View to the east was really spectacular. Walk up the drive was a challenge and would be difficult for an older person - no problem for us.
We loved this home! The house was unique and eclectic, the view was second to none, and they had lots of nice touches everywhere (great kitchen gadgets, fun things like a drum, a record player etc)! We loved using the hot tub, which was very clean and well maintained and the view was spectacular. The only complaint was the railing going up to the loft has bars that are spaced too far apart, which would never meet today's code. This was concerning because we have a mobile 1 year old who could have easily slipped through them. Of course, we never let him out of our sight, but he is quick and was very interested in playing on the stairs. Other than that, the house was just wonderful, and I would love to come back and stay with just my husband for a romantic getaway! Also, it should be noted that you must walk up the very steep driveway, as you are not permitted to park at the top. This wasn't a problem for us, but I can see it being challenging for some people.
