Dog-friendly with hot tub, shared pool, ocean views & two decks!

Behold the magnificent ocean and meadow views of the Sea Ranch when you escape to this beautiful two-bedroom home, a spacious and dog-friendly retreat that offers an ocean-facing deck, a private tree-lined patio and hot tub, and wonderful access to nearby beaches and trails.

Conveniently located five miles south of Gualala's restaurants, art galleries, and grocery stores, this two-level home is scenically situated on the ocean side of California Highway 1. You'll be just steps from the Bluff Trail that runs between Black Point and Gualala Point Regional Park, less than one mile from the tide pools of Shell Beach, and less than two miles from Walk On Beach.

Thanks to both an open living area and private sleeping quarters, this home is ideal for couples' vacations and family getaways to one of the most stunning stretches of the Northern California Coast.

The interior living area was thoughtfully placed on the second floor, allowing guests to enjoy sweeping views at every turn. Read an engrossing novel from the comfort of the leather sofa as you watch for whale spouts on the water.

With granite countertops, a stainless steel refrigerator, and a dishwasher for your convenience, the full kitchen provides ample space to prepare meals. You'll find plenty of seating around the dining room table, as well as a flatscreen cable TV and DVD player in the living room for after-dinner movie nights.

But why eat indoors when you have a spectacular outdoor deck that overlooks the ocean and meadow? Prepare fresh local seafood on the gas grill, enjoy evening meals around the patio table, and watch the spectacular sunset as you share a bottle of local Pinot Noir.

The tree-lined patio offers guests a wonderful sense of privacy, and is the perfect place to soak in the hot tub or let your dogs stretch their legs. Please be advised, however, that there is a two-dog maximum.

With two private bedroom suites located on the ground floor, Audubon can comfortably accommodate as many as four guests. Each of the two sunlit bedrooms has a king-size bed, lofty ceilings, and an en suite full bathroom. There is one additional half-bath for guests to use as well.

And as you spend your days jogging along the Bluff Trail or strolling the length of Walk On Beach, you'll always have a private washer and dryer to come home to, as well as WiFi for your added convenience. Swimming pools and tennis courts are also available at the Sea Ranch Del Mar, Ohlson, and Moonraker Recreation Centers.

Whether you're hoping to explore the great Northern California outdoors or planning a weekend of quiet relaxation, Sea Ranch manages to offer it all. You can watch passing grey whales, harbor seals, and California sea lions from the nearby Bluff Trail, or head less than four miles north to play 18 holes at the Sea Ranch Golf Links.

Guests can also explore this majestic region by car, as the 54-mile stretch of Highway 1 north to Mendocino is one of the loveliest drives in the state.

Once you arrive, you won't ever want to leave! Book your unforgettable Sea Ranch vacation home today. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

We spent a lovely week at the Audubon House and it was quite comfortable and pleasant. The fixtures and appliances are up to date, the kitchen is fully functional, and the master bath is gorgeous. Mostly, it was CLEAN! Better than any other house we have rented in Sea Ranch. Only one small issue -- the lighting in the living/dining room area was insufficient. Some bulbs in the track lighting were out, and the dining room light was very dim. This was not a big problem since the light lasts long this time of the year, but would be in the darker months. Thanks!
Manager response:
Hi, Lisa Marie! We appreciate your feedback and are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Maintenance has replaced the burnt out bulbs which has helped a lot with the lighting. We do apologize for this oversight and hope to see you again.

This home is perfect for 2 couples: both bedrooms are beautifully laid out, and the living space upstairs is comfortable and spacious. The location is only a short walk from both Stengel beach and Shell beach; not right on the bluff trail, but only a house away. Perfect.

Nice way to start the 2020s

We can count on the Audubon house for a great location and beautiful views every year.

Everything about our stay at Audubon house was a delight. Lots of light, great views and comfortable surroundings. A place we could call home.
Jerry N. Sep 2019
Perfect home for 2 couples. Would go back.

The quiet
Leslie W. Feb 2019
This home is so beautiful and comfortable. It is easily walking distance from some of our favorite trails and beaches. We love the convenience of the enclosed area for letting the dogs out, off leash to sniff around. This is our 3rd stay at Audubon house and we will be back.
Winn E. Nov 2018
We have rented this house several times for our annual trip to Sea Ranch. The living room area is the best part of the house. Kitchen is galley and small and the 2 bedrooms decent (although this year they felt very cold!) Well stocked -- a good house for cooking. Love the area.
Joseph C. Nov 2018
We loved our stay at Audubon for our 40th anniversary. The home was cozy, had a well laid out floor plan and all the comforts you could ask for.
Kirstin L. Oct 2018
Lovely home with all the necessary amenities. Stunning views, beautiful home that is clean, bright, and cozy. Quality linens and kitchen items. Amazing birding. Whale watching from the living room ( with our binoculars)!! Quiet and a perfect getaway!!!
Cornelius C. Oct 2018
Very comfortable home, nice amenities.
Patricia K. Aug 2018
Very comfortable and updated home, clean. Beautiful view and well stocked kitchen. We will stay here again.
Catherine B. Aug 2018
Lovely home, relaxing with a beautiful view from a spacious deck. Gated so dog could run around. Close 15 min walk to beach. Short drive to Moonraker pool. Great sound system but TV cable was shot. Would have given it 5 stars if we could have enjoyed a movie together but was told the owner needs to switch to satellite. Otherwise it was a great place and we are already talking about returning next year!
Margaret Diane P. Aug 2018
We were pleasantly surprised that a row of trees blocked the wind from us while we were sitting on the deck enjoying the view. Too often bluff top houses are windy, but this one was perfect!
John P. Aug 2018
The Audubon House is a two-story house with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living area upstairs. Because the living area is upstairs, it has a expansive view of the coast. But be prepared to walk stairs.

The Audubon House has easy access to the trails and, consequently, to the beaches. If you want cool, fresh breezes and quiet times for walks, reading, and sleeping, this is the place for you.
Brian M. Jul 2018
We are substantially experienced Sea Ranch renters, having visited numerous rental home numerous times over the past 35 years. The Audubon House was quite nice, good location, pleasant view, and well equipped. We have a dog, and the fact that the home has enclosed yards was a plus.
Julie E. Jul 2018
The Audubon House was perfect for our stay -- two married couples. The two king bed master suites with private baths worked perfectly. The living area with leather furniture, a well-equiped kitchen, and views of the ocean from the picture windows and front deck. We will be back.
Steven D. Jul 2018
Comfortable, well located home with great views. Fully equipped with all the amenities you could want. Comfortable beds and furniture. Great trails and Sea Ranch facilities for golf and dining.
Leslie G. May 2018
The house is well laid out and well furnished with necessities for the stay. The view and location are great.
James R. May 2018
We could not ask for anything better! The house was comfortable and well appointed, beautiful photographs everywhere, and an easy walk to the beach and the bluffs. It is the perfect place for a wonderful coastal vacation!!!
Robert L. May 2018
Quietness, comfortable beds, hot tub, deck
Katherine S. Apr 2018
Beautiful view and very convenient location. Not good for seniors - too many stairs to get into it and to get down to the bedrooms. We had a wonderful time and beds so comfortable. Typical two story house; upstairs comfortably warm but downstairs a little cool. If linens were cleaner would give it another star
Patrick T. Mar 2018
This home is perfectly located to enjoy all that Sea Ranch has to offer. It is nicely outfitted and well maintained. The fenced courtyard makes it perfect for families traveling with their canine companion.
Vincent T. Mar 2018
Everything was just as described, host was very attentive and made the stay easy. We loved walking to the beach, enjoying the sunset from the deck, and cooking in the well appointed kitchen.
Cathy H. Feb 2018
So, the positive: This home has a nice enough location and comfortable furnishings. Loved the deer in the yard in the evening when we arrived home. The beds were very warm and comfy, and liked the light colors in the bedrooms. Nice clean (remodeled) bathrooms. You could see the ocean from the deck and living room. Quiet. The hot tub was heated and ready to use, although we did not. Now the cons: This house is full of stairs - a hike up to the front door and once inside, a hike down to the bedrooms on the bottom floor. And then more steps from there down to the garage level - it was a chore getting our gear in the house and back out when departing. I thought it was a nice enough place - but when cooking in a kitchen, I want clean and new - the oven/ stove was old need an update - I would not use that oven, as does the coffee pot need replacing (they are not that expensive), as well as the outdoor furniture on the deck - they are worn out and not appealing, considering the outdoors is the appeal of being there. The television was a bit of a challenge to figure out. And it would have been nice if you would have a fire ready to light in the fireplace or a Duraflame there, instead a note telling people where to buy the wood, matches, etc. There was soot on the exterior of the fireplace from previous use, that should have been cleaned.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see this guest did not have a great experience while staying here. The pictures do show stairs several times, so we are sorry this came as a surprise. We do have plans to update the oven/stove in the near future. The TV was just replaced with instructions provided, and we have not had a complaint from recent guests until now. If guests need assistance with any amenities, they are always welcome to call us. Thank you!
Alan R. Feb 2018
Nice house. Recently remodeled second shower area a big improvement. Not for people who can't do stairs, as living areas are all up a flight of stairs. Comfortable house, pretty well equipped with the essentials for a nice stay.
Khushboo S. Dec 2017
Fantastic location - right by the trail heads to the bluff and the beach. Gualala is 20 minutes away for groceries and other services. The cellular coverage is great and the house is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and even oils, spices and condiments! The views are absolutely gorgeous and catching the sunrise in the morning from within the warmth of the home was a treat! You will find deer grazing, turkeys roaming and beautiful birds flying by :)
Ruth Ann C. Nov 2017
Late November stay. Spacious for a couple and dog. Really beautiful view of the coastline from the living room and deck. Comfy seating and beds, although the lower level where bedrooms were located didn't warm up as easily as main living floor. Had all of the basics for cooking/grilling.
Randall R. Nov 2017
This house is perfect for two couples as there are essentially two master bedrooms, each with it's own bedroom. The house is attractively decorated and the kitchen is great for cooking. Beds are comfy and the view is very nice.
Fabia P. Oct 2017
The house is lovely and has a wonderful view of the ocean just beyond. Its very well equipped and comfortable - and very quiet which is what we were looking for. There are several walking trails just a step away from the house and so much wildlife and natural beauty we were really amazed. We would definitely stay here again.
Kelly I. Oct 2017
We had a wonderful stay at this home over a long weekend. The main floor has an open plan living room with an incredible view of the coast. Large deck with grill.
We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening - looking at the stars. Nice setup with two master suites. Great for our family of four.
Micky D. Oct 2017
It was so nice to find a good place to stay with our two dogs. The house has a fenced parking area for the dogs to use. All the bedrooms opened up to fenced court yards, if you need to let them out at night. The house is very close to the Bluff Trail and Shell Beach. It backs up to a lovely cypress forested area. It has some steep stairs that might bother some (people or dogs). The view up the coast was unobstructed and lovely. The deck was sunny and felt sheltered from bluff winds. All the amenities we needed. It had a cozy living area upstairs, and the two bedrooms are downstairs. I was sad to find a lot of poison oak on the hikes we took in the forests (none near the house), only downside.
Carol H. Sep 2017
Great ocean views, super comfy Swedish style reclining chairs with ottomans. Very close to the beach and hikes. The beds were comfortable but definitely on the hard side. Bring your own pillows!! The upstairs heated up in the sun while the downstairs two bedrooms stayed nice and cool. Overall a great place to stay!
Rodney H. Sep 2017
We enjoyed the stay. Perfect location. Wild turkey everyday and deer. Amazing views and location.
Alan R. Sep 2017
We have stayed in this house over the last 20 years. Now have new owners. Some improvements to the facilities could be made, specifically in the 2nd bedroom bathroom, which is now very below standards, and furnishings. Also the kitchen "outfitting" of cookware and glassware needs to be improved.

The house is comfortable and has a very nice view. Reverse floor plan maximizes the view. If you can't handle stairs, this is not your house.

Overall, we still like the house and will be back, but a little attention to simple details by the owner would improve the experience greatly.
Manager response:
The owners have a bathroom remodel scheduled for the end of October, and we will ask them about replacing the cookware and glasses.
Noel P. Sep 2017
We have stayed in many Sea Ranch houses and find this location one of the best. The view from the windows and deck are of spectacular coastline. It is close to some our our favorite bluff locations and Shell Beach. We enjoyed the shelter and beauty of the tree line behind, too.
Garth S. Aug 2017
I loved this spot. Getting to start my day each day with yoga on my private back porch and end it in the hot tub with adventures on the beach and tide pools in between. What a perfect spot!
Caitlin M. Jul 2017
Good house for two couples (although the second bathroom is small). Nice flow to the rooms, very well stocked kitchen. Seriously, every utensil and appliance you need and good cookware. Lovely art throughout the house. A lovely home, but yet not too precious that you don't feel like you can't "kick back" and enjoy yourself. Well supplied w/ wood (thank you).
Steven B. May 2017
The Audubon House in Sea Ranch is perfectly situated in relation to the eye-popping beautfy of the Pacific coastline to stimulate your senses, from the majestic panoramic view of the ocean and coastline, to the frequent display of deer and birdsong around the perimeter of the property. The integration to nature is real and appreciated. We were treated to an escort by a fox upon returning from a lovely hike to nearby Shell Beach. The house is set-back far enough from the ocean to provide a warm and protected experience without heavy ocean breezes while enjoying the sun and night skies from the deck. This is a well equipped and comfortable setting, two roomy bedrooms and king beds. The WiFi (non-functional) and AV setup in the main living area need an upgrade for those who wish to connect with family and colleagues, or just watch a movie in the evening.
Steve C. May 2017
One if the best views we have experienced at Sea Ranch
Pam E. Apr 2017
If you are looking for a slice of heaven on earth the Audubon House is the place to stay. This reverse floor plan home has 2 master suites with king sized beds and full bathrooms in each. The upstairs has an unbelievable view looking south down the beautiful coast. The kitchen is completely stocked with everything you could need during your stay (best I've seen in a rental at Sea Ranch). Dining area that seats 6 whether it be for meals or for building jigsaw puzzles. The family room has beautiful leather couch and 2 recliner chairs with ottomans that made relaxing very easy. The house has many dvds and books for your use in case you forgot your own and choose to use them on rainy days. The deck had a table that will seat 4 and a cafe coffee table situated in the corner to enjoy your morning coffee as you gaze at the nature and beauty of the pacific coast. We used the gas grill on the deck 2 of the nights during our stay. We loved that we could bring our furry friend with us to our favorite coastal escape location so they could enjoy too.
I write this review so others can enjoy this beautiful rental, but hesitate because I want to be able to go back many many times to come and want the calendar not to be completly booked. ENJOY!

We loved our stay here! ~Great views and easy access to the trails nearby. ~Clean and lovely space, with everything we needed. It was a great spot for our dog, too...with the gated yard. We would definitely come back!
Sarah Z. Apr 2017
This house has awesome views to the ocean, the green surroundings, and the wooded hills. It was easy to park, wash off our feet after the beach with the outdoor hose, and sleep well on superb mattresses. The house water was nice and hot for showers, the kitchen had a good amount of storage space and counter area. Our only significant complaint was the septic/sewer smell that crept in a few days into our stay.
Nanja R. Mar 2017
We have stayed at Audubon house before and came back because it feels like home. The views down the coast never get old and we appreciate the comfortable space and well equipped kitchen. Even with rainy and stormy days it felt good just being in the house and enjoying the atmosphere.
Nina W. Mar 2017
Beautiful spot for the house with lovely view down the coast. Easy access to bluff trail and walk to Shell Beach. We've stayed in many homes at Sea Ranch and this one was nicely furnished and comfortable. The 4 stars are a reflection of: missing a hair dryer, the lighting very dim, oven did not work and downstairs heating difficult to control (we were there in February). We had a lovely time at Sea Ranch, as always, and these things will no doubt be addressed.
Kelly L. Jan 2017
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. The kitchen is well equipped and the views from the house are gorgeous. Loved our mornings on the deck.
Randall R. Nov 2016
We stayed here for a week in October and really enjoyed the house except for a problem with leakage around one of the windows in the living room. It was an annoyance only when it was just overcast and or intermittently raining, but was a huge problem with a downpour on the Sunday morning we left. Rain coming in the living room covered a portion of the hardwood floor, wet the coffee table and got the leather chairs wet. Definitely needs to be fixed and I would specifically ask about that repair before renting.
Assuming the repair of the window gets done, the house couldn't be better. The view is lovely, the house is attractively decorated, the beds are great, the bathrooms up to date and the kitchen is very well supplied for cooks. My sister and I enjoy cooking and we were very pleased with the pots, pans, utensils, knives and dishes.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see the window appears to have leaked so profusely during this stay. During rains after this guest's departure we have not experienced any leaking from the window; the owner will be inspecting the window within the next couple of weeks to be sure it does not need any work.
Dee M. Oct 2016
Beautiful location with great view of the ocean. It is set back a nice distance, with a fenced yard. We loved our stay and Joann of VACA addressed all needs we had. The trails and beach's are easily accessible. Nice, quiet property without view obstructions.
Becky B. Sep 2016
Had a wonderful long weekend, house was very comfortable and had great views of the ocean and hillside with easy access to beautiful bluff hikes and beaches.
Alan R. Sep 2016
Not bad. Needs some repair work
Forrest R. Sep 2016
We really enjoyed the Aubudon House. It is spacious and the upstairs view down the coast to the south is fantastic. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we've seen at Sea Ranch. It is a little walk to the bluff trail. It is only a 1/2 mile drive to Shell Beach. A raccoon entered through a small torn screen one night and enjoyed all of our hot dog buns. So this critter comes over with each new renter to see if you might have left that small low window open off the patio. I suspect that the owners will replace the screen. But if you rent Audubon, make sure that all five, not just four of those small windows are closed over night. Otherwise a perfect rental home.

This home is wonderful in every way. The furnishings arenice, the art is beautiful and the views from this home are priceless! The enclosed parking area was convenient for our dogs. We have been here before and will definitely be back!
Linda P. Jun 2016
We had a great stay and loved the location. The beauty and quit tranquil environment were nourishing for mind and body. We will return .
Chuck R. May 2016
Very clean house, good location, great for two couples, and wildlife all around.
Short walk to beach and recreation facilities.
Hot tub could be bigger
Laura P. May 2016
We have stayed at the Audubon house on many occasions and always enjoy being there. The location is wonderful.
