If you're ready for your next secluded mountain retreat, this cozy cabin in the Rockies is waiting for you. Families and groups alike will relish time spent in this rustic yet comfy log cabin nestled in the trees with its own private hot tub, two living areas, and a prime location for both privacy and access to the slopes and the lake.

Located three miles from Purgatory Ski Resort, this homey rental provides you with relatively easy access to town and winter sports, as well as seclusion wrapped in the beauty of a dense forest.

This two-story log home has been updated and remodeled with mountain decor. Views of the Hermosa Cliffs and the surrounding woods greet you from the front, and evergreens and aspens can be seen from every window.

Inside, it's a classic cabin with log walls and a cozy vibe. Lounge in the living area on the comfy furniture while you watch a movie or show on the cable TV, and stay nice and warm by the wood-burning stove. If you want to stay connected, there's free WiFi access at your disposal.

The kitchen is fully equipped with standard appliances and everything you need to cook up satisfying, hearty meals, which you can savor at the large dining table with your family and friends while you catch up on life. In the summer, keep it simple with burgers and hot dogs on the grill, and enjoy your feast on the large wraparound deck in the great outdoors. When night falls, do some stargazing from your private hot tub.

If your group has different opinions about how to spend leisure time in the evenings or if the kids want their own space, make good use of the downstairs living room, which features another TV and a gas stove to keep your guests toasty warm.

This three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home sleeps up to eight. You and your guests will rest comfortably on the sleeping options available: two queen-size beds and two twin beds, as well as a double sofabed in the living room. This home also offers a private washer and dryer for your added convenience.

In the summer, take a hike right out your front door, or drive to nearby Electra Lake for stunning views and excellent fishing. Haviland Lake is nearby, as well, and is a great place to hike (clear to the Animas River), fish, and enjoy a picnic. Visit historic Durango for shopping and dining. Kids and adults alike will enjoy a ride on the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

Purgatory Resort and the surrounding area offer all the classic winter activities you might expect. Get some downhill skiing or snowboarding in, or venture off the beaten path for some cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. There's also snowbiking, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, and dog sledding. In the summer, Purgatory is the venue of the Music in the Mountains classical music festival.

The cabin was as advertised. Me and my wife and 4 girls all had a wonderful time there! It was clean and well maintained with a decent kitchen to be able to prepare meals.
Oh and the snow 40 inches in two days! Was very impressed that within a half day the snow cleaning crews removed it from road so we could go back out and enjoy the mountains. Also it’s only about 10 minutes from Purgatory. I would definitely come again it was a great place!

This cabin is very well constructed with an excellent heating system. The kitchen has upgraded appliances with plenty of pots, pans, plates and utensils. The cabin can accommodate 5 sleeping in separate beds and is only a few minutes from Purgatory Ski Resort. It is located in the tall pines with plenty of room between homes.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. Everything was as stated and we had no issues with anything. After three days of snowboarding/skiing, it was nice to come home and relax in a clean comfortable cabin! The hot tub was a added bonus, unfortunately wasn't used enough. The cabin had everything we needed and then some. Will definitely keep this cabin in mind for winters to come as we plan to do this trip annually.

We very much enjoyed ourselves. Everything was great! We will be back!!

Absolutely loved this cabin!! This cabin is nothing short of amazing. It's secluded enough to where you have some privacy but not too far from town. The kitchen was equipped with utensils and cookware so we were able to prepare meals, which was nice not having to eat out every meal for several days. The hot tub was an added bonus which we enjoyed soaking in after a long day of outdoor activities. The host was incredibly hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return!

When we drove up my kids were fascinated with how beautiful the cabin was. Everything was nice and clean! The best way I can describe it is.. It feels like home! It was very hard to leave this cabin. I'm happy that I have tons of pictures and wonderful memories with my family at this cabin. The next time we go to Durango, we will be staying at this cabin. Thank you so much for the beautiful memories with my family.

The cabin was masterfully constructed, artfully designed, and carefully maintained and stocked. We loved it and will recommend it to friends and stay again if we come to that area.

Very relaxing place with plenty of room for the family!

The basement has varnish fumes that caused an asthma reaction. My wife also had trouble breathing. Even with door open it was bad. Also, small bathrooms.
Manager response:
We are unsure of where these odors or fumes would have come from since the basement has not been painted or stained for two years. We apologize if this visit was uncomfortable for our guest.

Picture perfect log cabin in the woods, near a snow covered lake, just 3 miles from the ski resort. Absolutely loved the cabin. It snowed over 6 inches during our stay; thankful the directions informed us that 4x4 was needed to get to the property during the winter!

My family and I have been staying in different cabins for the past 3 years around the Durango and Purgatory Ski area. This cabin is by far one of our favorites. We had such an amazing time. We will be back!

Awesome cabin, first time staying here! Although there wasn’t much snow at Purg in December we were extremely happy with our stay and highly recommend staying here if you like the rustic out of town cabin feel

We will have this on our list of preferred places to stay!

My two best friends and I get away for a week every year for a male bonding experience. Durango was the destination this year and this cabin suited us well. It's a 20 minute drive from town and a bit tricky to find the first time, but the directions were good. We each had a bedroom; two with full bath and the third, top floor, with a half bath. The cabin was well equipped and comfortable. Recommended.

The cabin was decorated beautifully, was warm and comfortable. Only two complaints; the second floor sofas were very soft in the center, perhaps the foam needs to be replaced. The location of the trash bin was not shown on the paperwork, only the combination lock numbers was shown

great place to stay.

The house itself was beautiful! The hot tub was a nice way to relax in the evening. We thought the house was closer to Hesperus when we booked it, which would have been more convenient for us based on the activities we had planned - it was a bit further out than we expected. This would be a great house for winter guests who plan to ski or visit the hot springs.

The cabin was great. Well maintained and stocked with hardware needed.
My wife and I enjoyed it immensely.

Some of the financial details and oh-by-the-way fees were quite disturbing. I suspect I failed to read enough fine print, but deception should not be the goal. Simplicity and enjoyment for the renter should be what's being sold and provided.

We wanted a nice cabin in the mountains and that is exactly what we got. Great place, very clean, private, perfect location. We loved it and will be back.

My husband and I stayed at Bear Hollow from July 31 through August 2, 2017, with our kids, aged 18 and 22. There was plenty of room for us to spread out through the house. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery surrounding the cabin and had a great time playing rousing games of Clue in the evenings. The location was far enough outside of town to be private, but close enough for activities in Durango. Although we didn't make it this trip, it would be convenient for a day trip to Ouray. The house was well-appointed with dishes, comfortable beds, dishwasher and washer/dryer. We didn't get a chance to use the hot tub, but it was great to have it as an option. Instructions throughout the home were easy to follow to make sure that the house was well taken care of during our stay. We recommend the home if you are looking for a beautiful, private getaway in the Durango area.

We are from Eastern Colorado and decided to take a quick trip to Durango for a short family vacation. Given my business travel, I stay in a hotel a lot and we wanted something besides another hotel room. We were thrilled with Bear Hollow! It was cozy and comfortable, yet with three levels, it provided enough room for everyone to have their own space. The kitchen provided all we needed to have some nice home-cooked breakfasts and dinners and the hot tub provided an opportunity for us to simply relax as a family and enjoy the cool evenings. Thank you for making our trip to Durango such a special and memorable experience. We look forward to coming back to Bear Hollow!

Upon arrival, the cabin was spotless and even had a welcome bag full of useful (and fun) goodies. The firewood already chopped was such a nice benefit. The cabin had everything we needed - even a gas grill which we used a couple times. We loved it and will return soon!
Jennifer H. Feb 2017
We enjoyed our stay very much. Just the right size for what we needed.

Great place to stay. Hope to return about the same time next year.
